¹ Peter an apostle of Jesus Christ to the strangers who are dispersed through Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia,

¹⁸ Now as Jesus was walking by the sea of Galilee, He saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; (for they were fishermen:)

² Now these are the names of the twelve apostles: first Simon, called Peter, and Andrew his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew;

²² And unless those days be shortened, no one would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened.

⁴¹ He first meeteth with his own brother Simon, and telleth him, "We have found the Messiah, which is to say, the Christ." ⁴² And Andrew brought him to Jesus: and Jesus looking at him said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonas, thou shalt be called Cephas; which is interpreted a stone.

³⁵ Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will He go, that we shall not find Him? will He go to them that are dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?

⁵² and not for the Jewish nation only, but that he might also gather together the children of God that are dispersed.

¹⁵ Now when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon son of Jonas, dost thou love me more than these? He saith unto Him, Yes, Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. ¹⁶ He saith to him again the second time, Simon son of Jonas, dost thou love me? He saith unto Him, Yes, Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee. ¹⁷ He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon son of Jonas, dost thou love me? Peter was grieved, that He said to him the third time, Dost thou love me? And he said unto Him, Lord, Thou knowest all things, Thou knowest that I love Thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

⁵ Now there were at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. ⁶ And when this rumor was spread, the multitude came together and were astonished; for every one heard them speaking in his own language. ⁷ And they were all amazed and wondered, saying to one another, Behold, are not all these, that are speaking, Galileans? ⁸ and how do we every one hear them in our own native tongue? ⁹ Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and those that dwell in Mesopotamia, and Judea, and Capadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, ¹⁰ Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers from Rome, Jews and proselytes, ¹¹ Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.

⁹ But there rose up some of the synagogue, which is called that of the libertines, and some of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia, and Asia, to dispute with Stephen:

⁴ Now they that were dispersed went about preaching the word.

⁶ And when they had passed through Phrygia and Galatia, being forbidden by the holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia, they came to Mysia, and endeavoured to go to Bithynia: ⁷ but the Spirit suffered them not.

² And finding there a certain Jew, named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who was lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla, (because Claudius Cesar had ordered all the Jews to depart from Rome,) he went to them;

²³ And when he had spent some time there, he departed, and went in order through the country of Galatia and Phrygia strengthening all the disciples.

¹⁰ And this he did for two years; so that all the inhabitants of Asia, both Jews and Greeks, heard the word of the Lord Jesus.

¹⁶ For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, that he might not spend time in Asia: for he endeavoured, if it were possible, to be at Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost. ¹⁷ But he sent from Miletus to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church. ¹⁸ And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know in what manner I behaved among you all the time, from the first day that I came into Asia.

¹⁹ The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla, with the church in their house, salute you in the Lord with much affection:

⁸ For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befel us in Asia, that we were exceedingly pressed above our strength, so that we despaired even of life:

² and all the brethren that are with me, to the churches of Galatia:

¹² and ye were at that time without Christ, aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: but now in Christ Jesus,

¹⁹ Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the houshold of God;

¹⁵ Thou knowest that all those of Asia are turned from me, of whom is Phygellus and Hermogenes.

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but seen them from afar, and been persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth.

¹ James a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes in dispersion sendeth greeting.

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I exhort you as strangers and sojourners here, to abstain from carnal lusts, which war against the soul:

¹ Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us, in the righteousness of our God, and of our saviour Jesus Christ:

¹¹ saying, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last; and, What thou seest write in a book, and send it to the seven churches in Asia, to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.
