⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered: but God gave the increase.

¹⁸ And when they heard these things they acquiesced, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God given to the Gentiles also repentance unto life.

²⁷ And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they related what God had done by them, and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

¹⁴ And a certain woman named Lydia, a purple-seller of the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened to attend to the things that were spoken by Paul.

⁴ And he discoursed in the synagogue every sabbath-day, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks. ⁵ And when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was very urgent in spirit, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah. ⁶ But as they opposed and blasphemed, he shook his garment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clear of it: from henceforth I will go to the Gentiles. ⁷ And departing thence, he went to the house of one named Justus, who worshipped God, whose house was contiguous to the synagogue. ⁸ But Crispus the ruler of the synagogue believed on the Lord with all his house: and many of the Corinthians hearing the word believed, and were baptized. ⁹ And the Lord said to Paul by a vision in the night, "Fear not, but speak: and be not silent: ¹⁰ for I am with thee, and no man shall lay hands on thee to hurt thee; for I have much people in this city." ¹¹ And he staid a year and six months, teaching among them the word of God.

²⁴ Now there came to Ephesus a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures.

²⁶ And as he began to speak openly in the synagogue, Aquila and Priscilla heard him and took him home, and expounded to him the way of God more perfectly. ²⁷ And as he was inclined to go into Achaia, the brethren wrote to the disciples exhorting them to receive him: who when he arrived, was very helpful to those who had believed through grace.

¹ Now it came to pass while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul having passed through the upper parts of Asia came to Ephesus:

¹⁹ And when he had saluted them, he gave a particular narrative of the things which God had done among the Gentiles by his ministry.

¹⁸ For I shall not go about to speak of any thing, but what Christ hath wrought by me, (to gain the obedience of the Gentiles,) both in word and deed:

³⁰ But ye are of Him in Christ Jesus, who from God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

⁹ For we are fellow-laborers, the servants of God: and ye are the husbandry of God, ye are the building of God. ¹⁰ According to the grace of God given to me, as a wise architect I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon: but let every one see to it how he buildeth thereon.

¹⁴ I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I admonish you: ¹⁵ for if ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet ye have not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you by the gospel.

¹ Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? and are not ye my work in the Lord?

⁷ Who ever goes a warfare at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and doth not eat of the fruit of it? or who feedeth a flock, and doth not eat of the milk of the flock? ⁸ Do I speak these things as a man only? ⁹ or saith not the law the same also? for it is written in the law of Moses, "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn." Now doth God take care for oxen, ¹⁰ or doth He say this indeed for our sakes? For it is certainly written for our sakes, that he, who ploweth, might plow in hope; and that he, who thresheth in hope, should partake of his hope. ¹¹ If we then have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we reap your carnal things?

¹ Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached to you at first, which ye received, and wherein ye stand. ² By which also ye are saved, if ye retain it as I preached it to you: unless indeed ye have believed in vain. ³ For in the first place I delivered to you, that which I also received, to wit, that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures: ⁴ and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day, according to the scriptures. ⁵ And that he was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve: ⁶ after that He appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain yet alive, but some are fallen asleep. ⁷ Afterwards He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. ⁸ And last of all He appeared to me also, as one born out of due time: for I am the lest of the apostles, ⁹ not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his favor to me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all; yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. ¹¹ Whether therefore I or they laboured most, thus we preach, and thus ye believed.

² Ye are our epistle, inscribed on our hearts, known and read by all men: ³ being manifest that ye are the epistle of Christ, through our ministration, written not with ink, but by the Spirit of the living God; not on tables of stone, but on tables of the heart of flesh. ⁴ And such confidence have we through Christ towards God: ⁵ not that we can of ourselves reckon upon any thing as from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God.

¹⁴ For we do not stretch ourselves beyond measure, as though we were not commissioned to come unto you; for we have reached even to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ. ¹⁵ Not boasting of things beyond our limits in other men's labors; but having hope that, when your faith is increased, we shall be abundantly enlarged by you according to our line,

⁵ For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in much certainty; as ye know what sort of persons we were among you for your sakes.
