¹ For if I speak with the tongues of men and angels, and have not charity, I am but as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

⁴⁵ Then will He reply to them, saying, Verily I tell you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the lest of these, ye did it not to me.

¹⁵ But if thy brother be grieved by thy food, thou dost not herein walk in love. Do not by thy food destroy him, for whom Christ died.

¹ Now as to things offered to idols, we know that we all have knowledge about them. Knowledge however puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

⁸ For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

¹⁶ And if the ear should say, "Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body?

²⁹ Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? ³⁰ have all miraculous powers? have all the gifts of healing? do all speak many languages? do all interpret? but ye are all zealous for the best gifts.

² And though I have the gift of prophecy, and am acquainted with all mysteries, and all knowledge: yea if I have faith, even. to remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. ³ And though I give all my substance to feed the poor, and my body to be burnt, and have not charity, I am nothing profited.

⁸ Charity never faileth: but as to prophecies, they shall be abolished; or tongues, they shall cease; or knowledge, it shall be laid aside.

⁶ Now, my brethren, if I come to you speaking with many tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I speak intelligibly to you of revelation, or knowledge, or prophecy, or doctrine? ⁷ As inanimate things which give a found, whether pipe or harp, unless they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall what is piped or harped be understood? ⁸ For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?

⁴ I know not, God knoweth) that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unutterable words, which it is not permitted unto man to speak.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering,

⁵ so do, and acquaint them that the end of that charge is charity, out of a pure heart, and a good conscience, and faith unfeigned:

⁸ having above all things fervent love to each other; for love will cover a multitude of sins.

¹⁸ For when they speak swelling words of vanity, they ensnare in the lusts of the flesh, through their lasciviousness, those who had indeed withdrawn from such as deal in error;
