But, should we say, 'From men,'"—they feared the people; for all held John to be a prophet indeed. ³³ And, answering, they say to Jesus, "We do not know." And Jesus saith to them, "Neither do I tell you by what authority I am doing these things."

⁴⁷ And He was teaching daily in the temple; but the high priests and the scribes and the chief men of the people were seeking to destroy Him;

⁷ And, having set them in the midst, they were inquiring, "In what power or in what name, did ye do this?"

²⁷ But he who was wronging his neighbor thrust him away, saying, 'Who appointed you a ruler and a judge over us?
