⁹ But there arose some of those who were of the synagogue called the synagogue of the Freedmen, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, disputing with Stephen.

¹⁷ But beware of men; for they will deliver you up to high-councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you;

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city;

³² And, coming out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they impressed to bear the cross.

⁹ "But take heed to yourselves; for they will deliver you up to the councils; and in synagogues ye will be beaten; and before governors and kings ye will stand for My sake, for a testimony to them.

¹² And, before all these things, they will lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up into the synagogues and prisons, being brought before kings and governors for My name's sake.

⁹ Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, in Judaea, and also Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Lybia about Cyrene, and sojourners from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,

²⁰ And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene; who, indeed, having come to Antioch, were speaking to the Greeks also, publishing the glad tidings of the Lord Jesus.

¹ Now there were in Antioch, in the assembly which was there, prophets and teachers; both Barnabas and Symeon who is called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenean, and Manaen, the foster-brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

⁴⁵ But the Jews, seeing the multitudes, were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things spoken by Paul, blaspheming.

²³ having written through their hand thus: "The apostles, and the elders, brethren, to the brethren from the gentiles throughout Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, greeting:

⁴¹ And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the assemblies.

⁶ And they passed through the Phrygian and Galatian country, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia;

¹⁷ So, he was reasoning in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the market-place every day with those who met him. ¹⁸ And some also of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers were encountering him. And some said, "What would this babbler wish to say?" And others said, He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods;" because he proclaimed the good tidings of Jesus and the resurrection.

²⁴ Now a certain Jew, Apollos by name, an Alexandrian by birth, a learned man, came down to Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures.

¹⁰ And this continued for two years; so that all those dwelling in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.

²⁶ And ye perceive and hear that, not only at Ephesus, but almost in all Asia, this Paul, having persuaded, turned away a great multitude, saying, that they are not gods that are made with hands.

²⁷ And, when the seven days were about to be completed, the Jews from Asia, having beheld him in the temple, were stirring up all the multitude, and they laid their hands upon him,

³⁹ But Paul said, "I am a Jew, of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city; and I beseech you, permit me to speak to the people."

³ and he says, "I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, having been trained according to the exactness of the ancestral law, being zealous for God, even as ye all are to-day;

¹⁹ And I said, 'Lord, they themselves understand that I was imprisoning and beating, throughout the synagogues, those believing on Thee;

³⁴ And, having read it, he asked of what province he was. And, learning that he was from Cilicia,

¹¹ and, punishing them often throughout all the synagogues, I was compelling them to blaspheme; and, being exceedingly enraged against them, I was persecuting them even unto foreign cities.

⁵ And, sailing over the sea which is off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia. ⁶ And there the centurion, finding an Alexandrian ship sailing to Italy, put us on board of it.

²⁰ Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? ²¹ After that I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
