¹ Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone forth into the world. ² In this ye know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ hath come in flesh is of God; ³ and every spirit that confesses not Jesus is not of God; and this is the spirit of the Anti-Christ, of which ye have heard that it is coming, and now it is in the world already. ⁴ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He Who is in you, than he that is in the world. ⁵ They are of the world; for this cause they speak of the world, and the world hears them. ⁶ We are of God; he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God hears us not: from this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. ⁷ Beloved, let us love one another; because love is of God, and every one that loves has been begotten of God, and knows God. ⁸ He that loves not never knew God; because God is love. ⁹ In this was manifested the love of God in us, that God hath sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we may live through Him. ¹⁰ Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son, to be a propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. ¹² No one has ever beheld God. ⁴ but God, being rich in mercy, on account of His great love wherewith He loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead in our offenses, made us alive with Christ (by grace ye have been saved),

²⁰ having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the chief corner-stone; ²¹ in Whom all the building, fitly framed together, is growing up into a holy temple in the Lord; ²² in Whom ye also are being built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
