²⁹ For it has been graciously granted to you for Christ's sake, not only to trust in Him but also to suffer for Him,

¹¹ "Blessed are you when people abuse you, and persecute you, and keep on falsely telling all sorts of evil against you for my sake. ¹² Keep on rejoicing and leaping for ecstasy, for your reward will be rich in heaven; for this is the way they persecuted the prophets who lived before you.

¹⁷ Then Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah, for it is not man that made this known to you, but my Father in heaven.

¹² But to all who did accept Him, and trust in His name, He gave the right to become the children of God, ¹³ who were born of God and not of natural blood nor of physical or human impulse.

⁴⁴ No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him to me; then I myself will raise him to life on the last day. ⁴⁵ In the prophets it is written, 'And all men will be taught by God.' Everyone who ever listens to the Father and learns from Him will come to me.

⁴¹ So they went out from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer disgrace for Jesus' name;

³⁹ and that through union with Him every one of you who believes is given right standing with God and freed from every charge from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.

²² strengthening the hearts of the disciples and encouraging them to continue in the faith, and warning them that it is through enduring many hardships that we must get into the kingdom of God.

²⁷ On arriving there they called the church together, and in detail reported to them all that God had done through them as instruments, and how He had opened to the heathen the door of faith.

³ And not only that, but this too: let us continue exulting in our sufferings, for we know that suffering produces endurance,

⁸ For it is by His unmerited favor through faith that you have been saved; it is not by anything that you have done, it is the gift of God.

¹² for you were buried with Him in baptism and raised to life with Him through your faith in the power of God who raised Him from the dead.

² You must consider it the purest joy, my brothers, when you are involved in various trials,

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect boon is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, in whom there is no variation or changing shadow. ¹⁸ In accordance with His will He made us His children by the message of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.

¹³ but so far as you are sharing Christ's sufferings, keep on rejoicing, so that at the uncovering of His glory you may rejoice triumphantly.
