⁸ I tell you, He will give them justice and protection, and that without delay. But when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?"

⁹ At that time they will turn you over to torture, and will murder you, and you will be hated by all the heathen, because you bear my name. ¹⁰ Then many will fall by the way, and will betray one another and hate one another. ¹¹ Many false prophets will appear and mislead many people; ¹² and because of the increasing crime wave, most people's love will grow cold. ¹³ But whoever bears up to the end will be saved.

²⁴ for false Christs and false prophets will announce themselves, and they will show great signs and wonders to mislead, if possible, God's chosen people.

²⁶ And just as it was in the time of Noah, so it will be in the time of the Son of Man. ²⁷ People continued to eat, drink, marry, and be married, right up to the day when Noah went into the ark, and the Flood came and destroyed them all. ²⁸ It was so in the time of Lot; people continued to eat, drink, buy, sell, plant, and build; ²⁹ and the very day Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. ³⁰ It will be so on the day when the Son of Man appears

¹ But as to times and dates, brothers, you have no need of anyone's writing you, ² for you yourselves know perfectly well that the day of the Lord is coming like a thief in the night. ³ When people say, "Such peace and security!" then suddenly destruction falls upon them, like birth pains upon a woman who is about to become a mother, but they shall not escape, no, not at all.

²³ let us, without ever wavering, keep on holding to the hope that we profess, for He is to be trusted who has made the promise, ²⁴ Let us continue so to consider one another as to stimulate one another to love and good deeds. ²⁵ Let us stop neglecting our meeting together, as some do, but let us continue to encourage one another, and all the more because you see that the great day is drawing near. ²⁶ For if we go willfully sinning after we have received full knowledge of the truth, there is no sacrifice left to be offered for our sins,

¹ Come now, you rich people, weep aloud and howl over the miseries that are sure to overtake you. ² Your wealth has rotted, your clothes are moth-eaten, ³ your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will testify against you and devour your flesh like fire. You have stored up these things for the last days. ⁴ See, the wages that you have kept back from the laborers who reaped your fields are crying aloud, and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. ⁵ Here on earth you have lived in luxury and self-indulgence; you have fattened your hearts for the day of slaughter. ⁶ You have condemned and murdered the upright man; he offers no resistance. ⁷ So be patient, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer keeps on waiting and waiting for the precious crop from his land; how he keeps up his patience over it until he gets the early and late rains, ⁸ You must be patient, too; you must put iron into your hearts, because the coming of the Lord is close at hand.

³ In their greed they will exploit you with messages manufactured by themselves. From of old their condemnation has not been idle and their destruction has not been slumbering.

⁸ But you must avoid forgetting this one fact, dearly beloved, that with the Lord a single day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a single day. ⁹ The Lord is not slow about His promise, in the sense in which some think of slowness, but He is really dealing patiently with you, because He is not willing for any to perish but for all to have an opportunity to repent?
