³³ "Just so, no one of you who does not forsake everything that he has, can be a disciple of mine.

¹¹ So after they had brought the boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.

²⁸ So he left everything behind, got up and followed Him.

²⁶ "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, and still more, his own life too, he cannot be a disciple of mine.

²² When Jesus heard this, He said to him, "One thing you still lack. Sell everything you have, and distribute the money among the poor, and you will have riches in heaven; then come back and follow me." ²³ But when he heard that, he was very sad, for he was surpassingly rich.

²⁸ Then Peter said to Him, "We have left our very own, homes and all, and have followed you." ²⁹ So He said to them, "I solemnly say to you, there is no one who has given up home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the kingdom of God, ³⁰ who will not receive in return many times more in this world, and in the next eternal life."

¹ But a man named Ananias, in partnership with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property, ² and, with his wife's full knowledge of it, kept back for themselves a part of the money and brought only a part of it and put it at the disposal of the apostles. ³ And Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan so completely possessed your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and kept back for yourselves a part of the money received for the land? ⁴ As long as it was unsold, was it not yours, and when it was sold, was not the money at your disposal? How could you have the heart to do such a thing! You did not lie to men but to God!" ⁵ When Ananias heard these words, he fell dead, and a strange awe seized everybody who heard it.

¹⁹ and said, "Give me this power too, that when I lay my hands on anyone he may receive the Holy Spirit." ²⁰ But Peter said to him, "Your money go to perdition with you for even dreaming you could buy the gift of God with money! ²¹ You have no share or part in this matter, for your heart is not sincere in the sight of God. ²² So repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord, to see if this thought of your heart may be forgiven you.

⁷ But for Christ's sake I have counted all that was gain to me as loss. ⁸ Yes, indeed, I certainly do count everything as loss compared with the priceless privilege of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have lost everything, and value it all as mere refuse, in order to gain Christ
