²³ For just last night an angel of God, to whom I belong and whom I serve, stood by my side

²⁶ If anyone serves me, he must continue to follow me, and my servant also must go wherever I go. If anyone serves me, my Father will show him honor.

⁹ I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world now, but only for those whom you have given me, because they are yours -- ¹⁰ really, all that is mine is yours, and all that is yours is mine -- and I have been glorified through them.

¹⁹ But in the night the angel of the Lord threw open the jail doors and let them out, and said to them,

²⁶ Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Get up and go south by the road that leads from Jerusalem to Gaza; this is the desert road."

⁸ Then the angel said to him, "Tighten your belt and put on your shoes? He did so. Then the angel said to him, "Put on your coat and follow me!" ⁹ So he kept following him out, but he was not conscious that what was being done by the angel was real; he thought he was dreaming it. ¹⁰ They passed the first guard, then the second, and at last came to the iron gate which led into the city. The gate of itself opened to them, and they passed out and proceeded one block when all at once the angel left him. ¹¹ Then Peter came to himself and said, "Now I really know that the Lord has sent His angel and rescued me from the power of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting to do to me."

²³ But the angel of the Lord at once struck him down, because he did not give the glory to God; he was eaten by worms, and so died.

¹⁷ This girl kept following Paul and the rest of us, shrieking, "These men are slaves of the Most High God, and they are proclaiming to you a way of salvation."

⁹ One night in a vision the Lord said to Paul, "Stop being afraid, go on speaking, never give up;

¹¹ But that same night the Lord stood by Paul's side and said, "Courage! For just as you have testified for me in Jerusalem, you must testify for me in Rome, too."

¹ Paul, a slave of Jesus Christ, called as an apostle, set apart to preach God's good news,

⁹ Indeed, my witness is God, whom I serve in my spirit by telling the good news about His Son, that I never fail to mention you every time I pray,

²² But now, since you have been freed from sin and have become the slaves of God, the immediate result is consecration, and the final destiny is eternal life.

²⁰ for you have been bought and actually paid for. So you must honor God with your bodies.

³ I thank God, whom I worship, as my forefathers did, with a clear conscience, as I ceaselessly remember you in my prayers. Because I remember the tears you shed for me, I am always longing night and day

²⁴ and a slave of the Lord must not quarrel but must be gentle to everybody; he must be a skillful teacher, and not resentful under injuries.

¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that the message preached by me might have its full effect and all the heathen might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion's jaws.

¹ Paul, a slave of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to stimulate faith in God's chosen people and to lead them on to a full knowledge of religious truth,

¹⁴ who gave Himself for us to ransom us from all iniquity and purify for Himself a people to be His very own, zealous of good works.

¹⁴ Are not the angels all attending spirits sent forth to serve for the sake of those who are going to be unceasing possessors of salvation?

⁹ But you are the chosen race, the royal priesthood, the consecrated nation, the people to be His very own, to proclaim the perfections of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. ¹⁰ Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once His mercy had not been shown you, but now it has.

¹⁶ "I, Jesus, sent my angel to bear this testimony to you for the churches. I belong to the line and family of David; I am the bright morning star."
