¹⁷ encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good thing you do or say.

¹¹ For I am longing to see you, to impart to you some spiritual gift, that you may be strengthened;

¹³ May the hope-inspiring God so fill you with perfect joy and peace through your continuing faith, that you may bubble over with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

²⁵ To Him who can make you strong in accordance with the good news I bring and in accordance with the message preached about Jesus Christ, in accordance with the uncovering of the secret which for ages past had not been told,

⁸ and to the very end He will guarantee that you are vindicated at the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father and the all-comforting God, ⁴ who comforts me in every sorrow I have, so that I can comfort people who are in sorrow with the comfort with which I am comforted by God. ⁵ For just as my sufferings for Christ are running over the cup, so through Christ my comfort is running over too. ⁶ If I am in sorrow, it is on behalf of your comfort and salvation; if I am comforted, it is for the comfort that is experienced by you in your patient endurance of the same sort of sufferings that I am enduring too.

²¹ But it is God who makes us as well as you secure through union with Christ, and has anointed us,

⁷ with your roots deeply planted in Him, being continuously built up in Him, and growing stronger in faith, just as you were taught to do, overflowing through it in your gratitude.

² and so I sent my brother Timothy, God's minister in the preaching of the good news of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith,

¹³ so that He may strengthen your hearts to be faultless in purity in the sight of God, when our Lord Jesus comes back with all His consecrated ones.

¹⁶ May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and graciously given us encouragement that is eternal, and a hope that is well-founded,

³ But the Lord is to be trusted, and He will give you strength and guard you from the evil one.

⁹ You must stop being carried away with varied and strange teachings. For it is a good thing for the heart to be strengthened by God's spiritual strength, not by special kinds of food, from which those adhering to them have gotten no good.

²¹ So strip yourselves of everything impure and all the evils prevailing around you, and in humble spirit welcome the message which when rooted in your hearts is able to save your souls. ²² Keep on obeying this message; do not merely listen to it, and so deceive yourselves.

¹⁰ And God, the giver of every spiritual blessing, who through your union with Christ has called you to His eternal glory, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself make you perfect, firm, and strong,

¹⁸ Dear children, let us stop loving with words or lips alone, but let us love with actions and in truth.

²⁴ Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to make you stand in His glorious presence faultless and full of triumphant joy,
