⁸ Physical training, indeed, is of some service, but religion is of service for everything, for it contains a promise for the present life as well as the future.

³³ But as your first duty keep on looking for His standard of doing right, and for His will, and then all these things will be yours besides.

²⁹ And everyone who has given up home or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms, for my sake, will receive many times as much, and in addition will be in possession of eternal life.

¹⁹ You know the commandments: Do not murder. Do not commit adultery. Do not steal. Do not bear false witness. Do not defraud. Practice honoring your father and mother." ²⁰ But he said to Him, "Teacher, I have kept all these commandments ever since I was a child."

³⁰ who will not receive now in this life a hundred times as much in houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, but along with them persecution, and in the world to come eternal life.

³¹ But continue to seek His will, and these things will be yours besides. ³² Stop being afraid, my little flock, for your Father has gladly chosen to give you the kingdom.

²⁸ Yes, we know that all things go on working together for the good of those who keep on loving God, who are called in accordance with God's purpose.

⁸ Food will never bring us near to God. We are no worse if we do not eat it; we are no better if we do.

²¹ "You must not handle," "You must not taste," "You must not touch," ²² which refer to things that perish in the using, in accordance with human rules and teachings? ²³ Such practices have the outward expression of wisdom, with their self-imposed devotions, their self-humiliation, their torturings of the body, but they are of no value; they really satisfy the lower nature.

⁶ Now the fact is, religion with contentment is a means of great gain.

⁸ It is a message to be trusted, and I want you to be emphatic about these things, so that those who believe in God may be careful to take the lead in doing good. These things are right and render service to mankind.

⁹ for it is merely a symbol of the present time in connection with which gifts and sacrifices are repeatedly offered though they cannot make the conscience of the worshiper perfect, ¹⁰ since they deal only with food and drink and various washings, that is, with mere material regulations which are in force only until the time of setting things straight.

⁹ You must stop being carried away with varied and strange teachings. For it is a good thing for the heart to be strengthened by God's spiritual strength, not by special kinds of food, from which those adhering to them have gotten no good.

³ because His divine power has given us everything that is needful for life and piety, through our full knowledge of Him who through His glory and excellence has called us to Him. ⁴ It is through these that He has given us His precious and glorious promises, so that through them, after you have escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desires, you may come to share in the divine nature.

²⁵ And the very thing that He Himself has promised us is eternal life.

¹² I will make him who conquers a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall never again go out of it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God, and my own new name.

²¹ I will give to him who conquers the privilege of taking his seat with me on my throne, just as I have conquered and taken my seat with my Father on His throne.
