⁶ We are children of God. Whoever knows God by experience listens to us; whoever is not a child of God does not listen to us. This is the way to distinguish a true spiritual utterance from one that is false.

²² All things have been entrusted to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is but the Father, and who the Father is but the Son, and anyone to whom the Son chooses to make Him known."

¹⁹ Then they began to say to Him, "Where is your Father?" Jesus answered, "You do not know either me or my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father too."

⁴⁵ But because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me. ⁴⁶ Who of you can prove me guilty of sin? But if I do tell you the truth, why do you not believe me? ⁴⁷ Whoever is sprung from God listens to what God says. This is why you do not listen to me: you are not sprung from God." ⁴⁸ Then the Jews answered Him, "Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and are under the power of a demon?" ⁴⁹ Jesus answered: "I am not under the power of a demon; on the other hand, I am honoring my Father, but you are dishonoring me. ⁵⁰ However, I am not seeking honor for myself; there is One who is seeking it for me, and He is judge.

¹⁶ I have other sheep too that do not belong to this fold. I must lead them too, and they will listen to my voice, and all my sheep will become one flock with one shepherd.

²⁷ My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them and they follow me,

²⁰ I most solemnly say to you, whoever welcomes any messenger I send welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes Him who has sent me."

¹⁷ even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it does not see Him or recognize Him, because He is going to remain with you, and will be within you.

²⁶ "When the Helper comes whom I will send from the Father to you, the Spirit of truth that comes from the Father, He will testify to me.

¹³ But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into the whole truth, for He will not speak on His own authority but will tell what is told Him, and will announce to you the things that are to come.

³⁷ Then Pilate said to Him, "So you are a king then?" Jesus answered, "Certainly I am a king. For this very purpose I was born, for this very purpose I have come into the world, to testify for truth. Everybody who is a friend of truth listens to my voice."

²¹ Jesus again said to them, "Peace be with you! Just as my Father has sent me forth, so I am now sending you."

¹ Paul, a slave of Jesus Christ, called as an apostle, set apart to preach God's good news,

⁸ as the Scripture Says, "God has given them over to an attitude of insensibility, so that their eyes cannot see and their ears cannot hear, down to this very day."

¹² Now we have not received the spirit that belongs to the world but the Spirit that comes from God, that we may get an insight into the blessings God has graciously given us. ¹³ These truths we are setting forth, not in words that man's wisdom teaches but in words that the Spirit teaches, in this way fitting spiritual words to spiritual truths. ¹⁴ An unspiritual man does not accept the things that the Spirit of God teaches, for they are nonsense to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are appreciated by spiritual insight.

³⁷ If anyone claims to have the prophetic spirit, or any other spiritual gift, let him recognize that what I now am writing is the Lord's command.

⁷ You look at me and measure me by outward appearances. If anyone is confident in himself that he belongs to Christ, let him have another thought about himself, that just as he belongs to Christ, so do I.

⁸ in a flame of fire, who will take vengeance on those who do not know God, that is, those who will not listen to the good news of our Lord Jesus.

⁹ that is, the representative of lawlessness, whose coming is in accordance with the working of Satan, with his plenitude of power and pretended signs and wonders, ¹⁰ and with a completely wicked deception for men who are on the way to destruction, because they refused to love the truth so as to be saved. ¹¹ This is why God sends them a misleading influence till they actually believe what is false,

¹ Now the Spirit distinctly declares that in later times some will turn away from the faith, because they continuously give their attention to deceiving spirits and the things that demons teach

² to remember the things foretold by the holy prophets, and the command of the Lord and Saviour through your apostles.

¹ Dearly beloved, stop believing every so-called spiritual utterance, but keep testing them to see whether they come from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

⁴ You are children of God, dear children, and you have conquered these men, because He who is in our hearts is greater than he who is in the world.

⁸ Whoever does not love has never come to know God by experience, because God is love.

¹⁷ But you, dearly beloved, must remember the words that have already been spoken by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,
