¹³ Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be troden underfoot of men.

⁴⁹ For every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. ⁵⁰ Salt [is] good: but if the salt shall have lost its saltness, wherewith shall it be seasoned? Have salt in your selves, and be at peace one with another.

³⁴ Salt [is] good: but if the salt have also lost its savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? ³⁵ It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghil; and they cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

⁶ Let your speech [be] alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

⁴ For [it is] impossible for those who were once enlightned, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, ⁵ And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come; ⁶ And are fallen away, to renew them again unto repentance: seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God, and put [him] to an open shame.

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome; the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. ²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after they have known [it], to return backward from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
