³⁹ Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life, and they are they which testifie of me.

¹⁶ And behold, one came and said unto him, [Read Good Master] Master, what good things shall I do that I may have eternal life? ¹⁷ And he said unto him, [Read Why callest thou me Good? There is none good but one; God.] Why dost thou ask me about a good thing? there is one that is good: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. ¹⁸ He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said thus, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, ¹⁹ Honour father and mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. ²⁰ The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

²⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

¹⁰ And have ye not read this scripture? The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner.

²⁵ But a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, What shall I do to inherit eternal life? ²⁶ He said unto him, What is written in [the] law? how readest thou? ²⁷ And he answering, said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole strength;and thy neighbour as thy self. ²⁸ And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. ²⁹ But he willing to justifie him self, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

²⁹ But Abraham said unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

³¹ But he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be perswaded, though one rise from the dead, and go away to them.

²⁷ And he began from Moses, and all the prophets, to expound unto them in the scriptures, the things concerning himself.

⁴⁴ And he said unto them, These [were] my words which I spake unto you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses, and the Prophets, and the Psalms concerning me.

⁴⁵ Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him of whom Moses did write in the law, and the prophets; Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Josephs.

³² There is another that beareth witness of me, and ye know that his testimony which he witnesseth of me, is true.

³⁶ But I have a greater testimony than [that] of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that my Father hath sent me.

⁴⁶ For had ye believed Moses, ye would also have believed me: for he wrote of me.

⁴⁶ But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

⁵² The answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Behold the scriptures: for out of Galilee hath arisen no prophet.

³² The place of the scripture which he read, was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: ³³ In [his] humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. ³⁴ And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other. ³⁵ Then Philip opened his mouth and began at the same scripture and preached unto him Jesus.

²⁷ For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and her rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the scriptures of the prophets which are read every sabbath, even they have fulfilled [them] in condemning [him.]

¹¹ These were more generous than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

²² Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great; saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: ²³ That Christ should suffer, that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

²⁷ King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.

¹⁷ But if thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God; ¹⁸ And knowest [his] will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law,

² Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God.

¹⁴ But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned, and hast been assured of; knowing of whom thou hast learned; ¹⁵ And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: ¹⁷ That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

¹⁶ But now they desire a better, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called [their] God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

³⁵ Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection.

¹⁰ Of which salvation the prophets have enquired, and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace unto you: ¹¹ Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings for Christ, and the glory that should follow.

¹⁹ We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do dwell that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts: ²⁰ Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. ²¹ For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake, being moved by the Holy Ghost.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him: And he said unto me, See [thou do it] not; I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
