² Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

¹⁹ You shall not lay up for your selves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal.

²³ But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan, thou art an Offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things of God, but of men.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of all sort of covetousness; for life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which a man possesseth.

⁸ And the lord commended the unjust steward because he had done prudently, wherefore I say unto you, the children of this age are in their generation more prudent than the children of light. ⁹ And I say unto you, Make to your selves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness;that when it fails, they may receive you into everlasting tabernacles.

¹¹ If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true?

¹⁹ But he spake also another parable: There was a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day. ²⁰ But a certain beggar named Lazarus, was laid at his gate full of ulcers. ²¹ And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich mans table: moreover, the dogs came and licked his ulcers. ²² And it came to pass that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abrahams bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried. ²³ And in hades he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus resting in his bosom. ²⁴ And he cried earnestly and said, Father Abraham have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is here comforted, and thou art pained.

⁴ That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit, ⁵ For they that are after the flesh, do mind the things of the flesh: but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. ⁶ For to be carnally minded, [is] death; but to be spiritually minded, [is] life and peace:

²³ But I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

¹⁹ Whose end [is] destruction, whose God [is the] belly: and glory [is] in their shame, who mind earthly things. ²⁰ For our conversation is in heaven, from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

¹ If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

⁵ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, and uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of God is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world, ¹⁷ And the world passeth away, and its lust: but he that doeth the will of God, abideth for ever.
