¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world,

⁸ Again, the devil took him up into an exceeding high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them:

²⁸ But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with her already in his heart,

⁵ And He taking him up into a very high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

¹⁴ But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, unto its lusts.

⁶ Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil thing, as they also lusted.

¹⁷ For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: For these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

²⁴ And they that are Christ's, have crucified the flesh, with the affections and lusts.

³ Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past, in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh, and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

¹² Teaching us, that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world;

³ For we our selves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, [and] hating one another.

¹⁵ This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish.

¹⁴ As obedient children, not fashioning your selves according to the former lusts, in your ignorance:

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshy lusts, which war against the soul;

² That he no longer should live the rest of [his] time in the flesh, to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. ³ For the time past may suffice to have wrought the will of te Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

¹⁰ But chiefly them that walk after the flesh, in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government: Presumptuous [are they], self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities:

¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling [words] of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that in some measure escape from them who live in error:

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling [words]; respecters of persons, because of advantage. ¹⁷ But beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: ¹⁸ That they told you there should come mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

¹¹ And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her, for no man buyeth her merchandise any more: ¹² The merchandise of gold, and sliver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and every vessel of ivory, and every vessel of most precious stone, and of brass and iron, and marble, ¹³ And cinnamon, and amomum, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. ¹⁴ And the fruit of the desire of thy soul is departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are perished from thee, and they shall find them no more at all. ¹⁵ The merchants of these things which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off, for fear of [her] torment, weeping and mourning, ¹⁶ Saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and decked with gold and precious stones, and pearl: ¹⁷ For in one hour so great riches iscome to nought. And every ship-master, and every one that sails unto the place, and mariners, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
