¹ But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine, That the aged men be vigilant,

¹⁰ Against whoremongers, sodomites, man-stealers, liars, perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to wholesome doctrine,

³ If any teach otherwise, and consent not to sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is after godliness,

¹³ Hold fast the pattern of sound words, which thou hast heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

⁹ as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

¹¹ For the saving grace of God hath appeared to all men, ¹² Teaching us, that, having renounced ungodliness and all wordly desires, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present world, ¹³ Looking for the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God, even our Saviour Jesus Christ. ¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

⁸ This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, to the end that they who have believed in God, be careful to excel in good works: these things are good and profitable to men.
