¹⁵ Who shew the work of the law written upon their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts among themselves accusing or even defending them,

⁹ But they who heard it, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest; and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

¹ And Paul earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God till this day.

¹⁶ And for this cause do I exercise myself to have always a conscience void of offence toward God and toward man.

¹⁸ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven, against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who detain the truth in unrighteousness. ¹⁹ For what is to be known of God, is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it to them.

¹ I say the truth in Christ, I lie not; my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost?

¹² For this is our rejoicing, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with carnal wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more especially toward you.

¹¹ Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men: but we are made manifest to God, and I trust we are made manifest in your consciences also.

² By the hypocrisy of them that speak lies, having their own consciences seared as with an hot iron:

¹⁵ To the clean all things are clean; but to the defiled and unbelieving nothing is clean; but both their understanding and conscience are defiled.

¹⁹ And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. ²⁰ For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. ²¹ Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
