⁶ And some fell upon a rock, and springing up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

⁵ Others fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth; and they sprung up immediately, because they had not depth of earth. ⁶ And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had not root, they withered away.

²⁰ But he who received the seed in stony places, is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy. ²¹ Yet hath he not root in himself, and so endureth but for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straight-way he is offended.

⁴ Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and forbearance, and long suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? ⁵ But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up to thyself wrath in the day of wrath, and revelation, and righteous judgment of God?

⁷ Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith) To day, ⁸ if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness,
