¹ Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.

¹³ And Pilate having called together the chief priests, and the rulers,

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to him, Art thou a teacher of Israel, and knowest not these things?

⁴⁷ The Pharisees answered, Are ye also deceived? ⁴⁸ Hath any of the rulers believed on him, or of the Pharisees? ⁴⁹ But this populace, who know not the law, are accursed. ⁵⁰ Nicodemus (he that had come to Jesus by night, being one of them) saith to them,

³⁹ And Nicodemus also came (who at first had come to Jesus by night) bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pounds.
