¹ But certain men coming down from Judea taught the brethren, Except ye be circumcised, after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

²⁰ And having heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said to him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of believing Jews there are, and they are all zealous for the law.

² Beware of dogs, beware of evil-workers, ³ beware of the concision, For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the spirit, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

⁸ Beware lest any man make a prey of you through philosophy and empty deceit, after the traditions of men, after the rudiments of this world, and not after Christ.

¹¹ By whom also ye are circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ: ¹² Buried with him in baptism, by which ye are also risen with him, through the faith of the operation of God, who raised him from the dead.

¹⁶ Let none therefore judge you in meat, or drink, or in respect of a feast-day, or of the new-moon, or of sabbath-days: Which are shadow of things to come;

²² Moses gave you circumcision, (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers) and ye circumcise a man on the sabbath.

¹⁴ For we have heard him say, That Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place, and change the rites which Moses delivered us.

³ And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren.

⁵ But there rose up, said they, certain of the sect of the Pharisees who believed, saying, That we ought to circumcise them, and command them to keep the law of Moses.

²² Then it seemed good to the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men from among them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, Judas, surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren,

²⁴ Forasmuch as we have heard, that some who came from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your minds, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law, whom we commanded not.

⁸ Happy is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. ⁹ Cometh this happiness then on the circumcision only, or on the uncircumcision also? For we say that faith was imputed to Abraham for righteousness. ¹⁰ How was it then imputed? When he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. ¹¹ And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith, which he had in uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all who believe in uncircumcision, that righteousness may be imputed to them also, ¹² And the father of the circumcision, to them who not only are of the circumcision, but also walk in the footsteps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.

¹⁸ And thus I ordain in all the churches. Is any one called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any one called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. ¹⁹ Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God.

¹ Then fourteen years after, I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me.

³ (But neither was Titus, who was with me, ⁴ being a Greek, compelled to be circumcised, Because of false brethren introduced unawares, who came in privily, to spy out our liberty which we have through Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

¹¹ But when Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be condemned. ¹² For before certain men came from James, he ate with the Gentiles; but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those of the circumcision. ¹³ And the other Jews also dissembled with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their dissimulation. ¹⁴ But when I saw, that they walked not uprightly, according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, If thou being a Jew, livest after the manner of the Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to judaize?

¹ Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made you free, and be not intangled again with the yoke of bondage. ² Behold, I Paul say unto you, If ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. ³ For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, he is a debtor to do the whole law. ⁴ Christ is become of no effect to you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love.

¹³ For neither they who are circumcised keep the law; but they desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. ¹⁴ But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world is crucified to me, and I unto the world. ¹⁵ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision is any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. ¹⁶ And as many as walk by this rule, peace be upon them and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
