1 Corinthians 6 Cross References - Wesley

1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, refer it to the unjust, and not to the saints? 2 Know ye not, that the saints shall judge the world? And if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not, that we shall judge angels? 4 How much more things pertaining to this life? If then ye have any controversies of things pertaining to this life, do ye set them to judge who are of no esteem in the church? 5 I speak to your shame. What, is there not so much as one wise man among you, that shall be able to judge between his brethren? 6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and this before the infidels. 7 Indeed even this is altogether a fault among you, that ye have contests with each other. Why do ye not rather suffer wrong? 8 Why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, even your brethren. 9 Know ye not, that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, 10 nor sodomites, Nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor revilers, nor the rapacious shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 12 All things are lawful for me; but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me; but I will not be brought under the power of any. 13 Meats are for the belly, and the belly for meats; yet God will destroy both it and them. But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise us up by his power. 15 Know ye not, that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? 16 God forbid. Know ye not, that he who is joined to an harlot is one body? For they two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined to the Lord is one Spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doth, is without the body; but he that committeth fornication, sinneth against his own body. 19 Know ye not, that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have from God? 20 And ye are not your own: For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God with your body and your spirit, which are God's.

All things indeed are pure: but it is evil to that man who eateth with offence. 21 It is good, not to eat flesh, neither to drink wine, nor to do any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or made weak. 22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. 23 But he that doubteth is condemned if he eat, because it is not of faith; for whatsoever is not of faith, is sin.

12 Therefore let not sin reign in your mortal body, to obey it in the desires thereof.

Romans 6:12-13

Do not ye judge them that are within?

1 Corinthians 6:1

1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, refer it to the unjust, and not to the saints? 2 Know ye not, that the saints shall judge the world? 1 Corinthians 8:4

4 we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no God but one.

1 Corinthians 8:7-13

7 But there is not in all men this knowledge; for some do even until now, with consciousness of the idol, eat it as sacrificed to the idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. 8 But meat commendeth us not to God; for neither if we eat, are we the better, nor if we eat not, are we the worse. 9 But take heed, lest by any means this your liberty become a stumbling-block to the weak. 10 For if any one see thee, who hast knowledge, sitting at meat in an idol-temple, will not the conscience of him that is weak be encouraged to eat of the things sacrificed to the idol? 11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died. 12 But when ye sin thus against your brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. 13 Wherefore if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

1 Corinthians 10:23-33

23 All things are lawful for me; but all things are not expedient; all things are lawful for me; but all things edify not. 24 Let no one seek his own, but every one another's welfare. 25 Whatever is sold in the shambles eat, asking no questions for conscience sake. 26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. 27 And if any of the unbelievers invite you, and ye are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for conscience sake. 28 But if any one say to you, This hath been sacrificed to an idol, eat not, for his sake that shewed thee, and for conscience sake. 29 Conscience I say, not thy own, but that of the other: for why is my liberty judged by another's conscience? 30 For if I by grace am a partaker, why am I blamed for that for which I give thanks? 31 Therefore whether ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 15:15-20

15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we testified from God, that he raised up Christ, whom he did not raise, if the dead rise not. 16 For if the dead rise not, neither is Christ raised: 17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are still in your sins. 18 Then also they who sleep in Christ are perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are more miserable than all men. 20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, the first-fruit of them that slept.

Galatians 2:16

16 and not sinners of the Gentiles, Even we (knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ) have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law; because by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. 17 But if while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore the minister of sin?

Galatians 2:20

20 I am crucified with Christ, and I live no longer, but Christ liveth in me, and the life that I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 5:21

21 emulations, wraths, strifes, divisions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of which I tell you before (as I have also told you in time past) that they who practise such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, fidelity, 23 Meekness, temperance; against such there is no law.

Ephesians 4:15-16

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, who is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted, by that which every joint supplieth according to the effectual working in the measure of every member, maketh increase of the body, to the edifying of itself in love. 17 This therefore I say and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles, in the vanity of your mind: 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, by the ignorance that is in them, through the hardness of their hearts: 19 Who being past feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; Since ye have heard him, 21 and been taught by him, (as the truth is in Jesus) To put off, 22 concerning your former conversation, the old man, which is corrupt, according to the deceitful desires:

Titus 3:3-7

3 For we also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, inslaved to various desires and pleasures, living in wickedness and envy, hateful, hating one another: 4 But when the kindness and philanthropy of God our Saviour appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we had done, but according to his own mercy he saved us, by the laver of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. 6 Which he poured forth richly upon us, 7 through Jesus Christ our Saviour, That, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs, according to the hope of eternal life.

James 3:13-18

13 Who is a wise and knowing man among you? Let him shew by a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter zeal and strife in your hearts, do not glory and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, animal, devilish. 16 For where bitter zeal and strife is, there is unquietness and every evil work. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, 18 without partiality and without dissimulation, And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for them that make peace.

1 Peter 2:19-23

19 For this is thank worthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what glory is it, if when ye commit faults and are buffeted, ye take it patiently? But if when ye do well and suffer, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. 21 For even hereunto are ye called; for Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye might follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who when he was reviled, reviled not again, when he suffered he threatened not, but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

2 (for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin) That ye may no longer live the rest of your time in the flesh, to the desire of men, but to the will of God. 3 For the time past of your life sufficeth to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when ye walked in lasciviousness, evil desires, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries.

1 John 2:16-17

16 For all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eye, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the desire thereof; but he that doth the will of God abideth for ever.

1 John 3:11-15

11 For this is the message which ye heard from the beginning, that we love one another. 12 Not as Cain, who was of the wicked one, and slew his brother. 13 And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. 14 We know, that we are passed from death to life, because we love the brethren: he that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murtherer, and ye know that no murtherer hath eternal life abiding in him.
