¹ “And to the messenger of the church in Sardis write: These things says He who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars: ‘I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, yet you are dead.

²⁴ because this son of mine was dead and came to life; he was lost and is found!’ So they began to celebrate.

³² But it was right that we celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and came to life; he was lost and is found.’”

¹⁶ Now we have all received from His fullness, yes, grace upon grace.

³³ Now I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water, He said to me ‘The One upon whom you see the Spirit coming down and resting—this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

³⁴ For He whom God sent speaks God’s words, because God does not give the Spirit by measure.

³⁷ Now on the last and most important day of the Feast, Jesus stood up and called out saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. ³⁸ The one believing into me, just as the Scripture has said, out from his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.” ³⁹ (Now He said this about the Spirit, whom those believing into Him were going to receive, in that the Holy Spirit had not yet been given because Jesus had not yet been glorified.)

²⁶ “Now when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of the Truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify concerning me. ²⁷ And you also will testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

²² Upon saying this He breathed on them and said: “Receive Holy Spirit!

³³ Therefore, having been exalted to God’s right hand, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this that you now see and hear.

⁵ even when we were dead in our transgressions—made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)

¹³ Yes you, though being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh—He has made you alive together with Him; having forgiven us all our trespasses;

⁶ But she who indulges in pleasure is dead while she lives.

²⁶ For just as the body without spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

¹¹ investigating into whom, or what sort of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating as He testified beforehand the sufferings that would be inflicted on Christ and the glories that would follow them. ¹² These men are hidden reefs at your love feasts, joining the feast without fear, caring only for themselves; they are clouds without rain, carried along by winds; they are late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead (having been uprooted);

⁴ John, to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace and peace to you from Him who is and who was and who is coming, and from the seven-fold Spirit who is before His throne,

¹¹ saying, “Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.”

¹⁶ and He had seven stars on His right hand and a sharp two-edged sword coming out of His mouth; and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.

²⁰ The mystery of the seven stars which you saw upon my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the messengers of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands that you saw are seven churches.

⁹ ‘I know your works and affliction and poverty (but you are rich), and the slander of those who claim to be Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

¹³ ‘I know your works, and where you live, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold my name fast and did not deny my faith during the days in which Antipas was my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan lives.

¹⁹ ‘I know your works —the love, the faith, the service—and your endurance; in fact your last works are greater than the first.

⁵ And out of the throne came lightnings and voices and thunders; and seven lamps of fire were burning before His throne, which are seven spirits of God;

⁶ And I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living beings, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing —as if slaughtered, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.
