²⁵ How forcible are words of uprightness! But your reproof, what does it reprove?

² “No doubt, but you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

⁴ I also could speak as you do. If your soul were in my soul’s place, I could join words together against you, and shake my head at you, ⁵ but I would strengthen you with my mouth. The solace of my lips would relieve you.

⁹ Don’t reject me in my old age. Don’t forsake me when my strength fails.

³ Strengthen the weak hands, and make the feeble knees firm. ⁴ Tell those who have a fearful heart, “Be strong! Don’t be afraid! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, God’s retribution. He will come and save you.

¹⁴ Who did he take counsel with, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?

⁵ The islands have seen, and fear. The ends of the earth tremble. They approach, and come. ⁶ Everyone helps his neighbor. They say to their brothers, “Be strong!” ⁷ So the carpenter encourages the goldsmith. He who smoothes with the hammer encourages him who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering, “It is good;” and he fastens it with nails, that it might not totter.
