⁶ The enemy is finished-in ruins forever. You have uprooted their cities. Even the memory of them has faded.

¹³ Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never, ever see again.

¹⁶ Terror and dread falls on them. By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone, until your people pass over, the LORD, until the people you have purchased pass over.

¹⁶ The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

⁹ He makes wars cease to the end of the earth. He breaks the bow, and shatters the spear. He burns the chariots in the fire.

⁶ "I send him against a godless nation. I commission him against the people of my fury to capture booty and to seize plunder, and to trample them down like mud (clay) in the streets. ⁷ But this is not what is in his mind, and this is not his design; but his purpose is destruction, and the cutting off of more and more nations.

¹³ For he has said, “By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding. I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers. ¹⁴ and my hand found, as a nest, the valuables of the people: and as one gathers abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth; and no one flapped the wing or gaped the mouth or chirped.

²⁴ Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD Almighty, declares: "O my people who live in Zion, do not be afraid of the Assyrians. They beat you with a rod and lift up a club against you, as Egypt did. ²⁵ "Very soon my anger against you will end and my wrath will be directed to their destruction.

⁶ He whose rod was on the peoples with an unending wrath, ruling the nations in passion, with an uncontrolled rule. ⁷ All the earth is at rest and is quiet; they break out into singing. ⁸ the trees of Lebanon also rejoice against you, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, From the time that you have been laid low, no one has come up to cut us down.

¹⁷ who made the world like a desert and tore down its cities and did not let his prisoners go home?'

²² For I will rise up against them, says the LORD Almighty, and cut off from Babylon the name and remnant, and son, and grandson, says the LORD. ²³ "And I will make her a possession of the hedgehog, and pools of water, and I will sweep her away with the broom of destruction," declares the LORD Almighty.

²⁶ "Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it. In days of old I planned it! And now I have brought it to pass, that you have turned fortified cities into piles of stone.

²⁵ "Look, I'm against you, destroying mountain, who destroys the whole earth," declares the LORD. "I'll stretch out my hand against you and roll you down from the crags. And I'll make you a burned-out mountain.

⁶² Then says: 'the LORD, you have threatened to destroy this place so that no person or animal will live here. It will become a permanent ruin.' ⁶³ "When you finish reading this scroll, tie a stone to it and throw it into the middle of the Euphrates River. ⁶⁴ and shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise, because of the evil that I will bring upon it: and they shall be weary. Thus far the words of Jeremiah.

⁸ Do not rejoice against me, O my enemy; for if I have fallen, I shall arise; if I sit in darkness, the LORD is my light.

¹⁰ And my hater will see it and be covered with shame; she who said to me, Where is the Lord your God? my eyes will see their desire effected on her, now she will be crushed under foot like the dust of the streets.

⁹ What do you plot against the LORD? He will completely destroy it; trouble will not rise up a second time! ¹⁰ Entangled like thorns and drunken from drink, they are consumed like dry stubble. ¹¹ From you goes out one who plots evil against the LORD, one who plans wickedness. ¹² the LORD declares: »Though they are strong and are many they will be destroyed! They will pass away. Though I have afflicted you [O Judah] I will not afflict you any more. ¹³ Now I will break off Assyria's yoke from you, and tear apart your shackles."

²⁶ The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

⁵⁴ When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come to pass: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” ⁵⁵ Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? ⁵⁶ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. ⁵⁷ But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

² He seized the dragon, the ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.
