¹ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. ² I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust." ³ Surely He will deliver you from the fowler's trap and from the destroying plague. ⁴ He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. ⁵ You shall not fear the terror of night, of the arrow that flies by day; ⁶ for the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. ⁷ A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. ⁸ You will only look with your eyes, and see the punishment of the wicked. ⁹ For thou, O the LORD, my trust; thou didst set the Most High thy refuge. ¹⁰ No harm will befall you, and no plague will come near your tent. ¹¹ For he will command his angels concerning you, to watch over you in all your ways. ¹² they will bear you up in their hands, so that you won't dash your foot against a stone. ¹³ You will tread upon the lion and the viper. You will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot. ¹⁴ Because he loves me, therefore I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name. ¹⁵ He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. ¹⁶ With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

¹⁵ The thorn bush said to the trees, 'If in truth you anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; if not, let fire come out of the thorn bush and devour the cedars of Lebanon'.

¹ David held a meeting in Jerusalem for all the leaders of Israel, the leaders of the tribes, the leaders of the army units that served the king, the commanders of regiments and battalions, the officials in charge of all the property and livestock belonging to the king and his sons, the palace officials, the soldiers, and the fighting men. ² And King David rose to his feet and said, "Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I myself wanted to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the footstool of our God, and I prepared to build. ³ But God said to me, 'You shall not build a house for my name, because you are a man of war, and have shed blood.' ⁴ But the LORD, the God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever. For He has chosen Judah to be the ruler, and of the house of Judah the house of my father. And in my father's house He was pleased to make me king over all Israel. ⁵ And of all my sons, for the LORD has given me many sons, He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the LORD, over Israel. ⁶ He said to me, 'Solomon, your son, shall build my house and my courts; for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father. ⁷ I will establish his kingdom forever, if he continues to do My commandments and My ordinances as he does at this time'. ⁸ Now therefore, in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, observe and seek out all the commandments of the LORD your God; that you may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children after you forever. ⁹ "And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and a willing mind, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and all thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you forever. ¹⁰ Consider now, for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for him as a sanctuary. Be strong, and do it." ¹¹ Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the entrance hall and the Temple, the storerooms, upper rooms, inner rooms, and the room for the throne of mercy. ¹² and the pattern of all that he had in mind for the courts of the house of the LORD, and for all the surrounding rooms, for the treasuries of God's house, and for the treasuries of the dedicated things; ¹³ also for the divisions of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD; ¹⁴ of gold by weight for the gold, for all vessels of every kind of service; for all the vessels of silver by weight, for all vessels of every kind of service; ¹⁵ the weight of the gold lamp stands and their gold lamps that is, the weight of gold for each lamp stand and its lamps, the weight of silver for each silver lamp stand and its lamps according to the use of each lamp stand for worship, ¹⁶ the weight of gold for each table with the rows of bread, and the silver for the silver tables, ¹⁷ the pure gold for the forks, bowls, and pitchers, the weight of each gold bowl, the weight of each silver bowl, ¹⁸ and the refined gold for the altar of incense. He also gave Solomon the plans for the chariot, that is, the gold angels with their wings spread to cover the Ark of the LORD’s Covenant. ¹⁹ the whole in writing, From the hand of the LORD upon me, to give understanding,—all the works of the pattern. ²⁰ David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and courageous, and do it. Don't be afraid, nor be dismayed; for the LORD God, even my God, is with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished. ²¹ Here are the divisions of the priests and Levites for every type of worship in God's Temple. You have with you every skilled worker to do the work. In addition, all the leaders and people are at your command.

⁸ Keep me as the apple of your eye. Hide me in the shadow of your wings

¹³ His soul shall dwell in prosperity, and his descendants shall inherit the land.

⁵ Because in the day of trouble he will hide me in his shelter. He will hide me in the covering of his tabernacle He will lift me up upon a rock.

²⁰ In the shelter of your presence you will hide them from the plotting of man. You will keep them secretly in a dwelling away from the strife of tongues.

⁷ You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.

⁷ How precious is your gracious love, God! The children of men take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

⁸ But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God. I trust the loyal love of God forever and ever.

¹ Be merciful to me, God, be merciful to me, for my soul takes refuge in you. Yes, in the shadow of your wings, I will take refuge, until disaster has passed.

³ For you have been my refuge, a strong tower from the enemy. ⁴ I will dwell in your tent forever. I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah.

¹ A Prayer by Moses, the man of God. Lord, you have been our dwelling place for all generations.

⁵ the LORD is your protector; the LORD is your shade at your right hand.

³ ¶ As the apple tree among the trees of the wild, so is my beloved among the sons. I desired to sit under his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

⁵ The LORD will create over the whole habitation of Mount Zion, and over her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night; for over all the glory will be a canopy. ⁶ and it will be a shelter for shade from the heat by day, and a refuge and a hiding place from rainstorm and from rain.

¹⁴ He will be a sanctuary, but for both houses of Israel, he will be a stumbling stone and a rock that makes them fall. For the people of Jerusalem, he will be a trap and a snare.

⁴ For you have been a refuge to the poor, a refuge to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the rainstorm, a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless was like a rainstorm against a wall,

² And a man shall be as a hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the storm; as brooks of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

²⁰ The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of Yahweh, was taken in their pits; of whom we said, under his shadow we will live among the nations.

¹⁶ Therefore say, Thus says the Sovereign LORD: Whereas I have removed them far off among the nations, and whereas I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them a sanctuary for a little while in the countries where they have come.

⁵ I will be like the dew to Israel. He will blossom like the lily, and send down his roots like Lebanon. ⁶ "His shoots will sprout and his beauty will be like the olive tree. His fragrance will be like the cedars of Lebanon.

¹⁵ If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. ¹⁶ So we know and believe the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

⁷ "I will establish my covenant as a long lasting covenant between us. It will be for your descendants after you, for the generations to come. I will be your God and the God of your descendants after you.

¹⁷ You have declared today that the LORD is your God, and that you would walk in his ways, keep his statutes, his commandments, and his ordinances, and listen to his voice. ¹⁸ And the LORD has declared you today to be for him as a people, a treasured possession, as he promised to you, and that you are to observe all his commandments, ¹⁹ And that he will make you high over all the nations he has made, in praise, in name, and in honour, and that you are to be a holy people to the Lord your God as he has said.

³⁰ How could one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had delivered them up? ³¹ For their rock isn't like our Rock, as even our enemies admit.

²⁷ The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before you; and shall say, Destroy them. ²⁸ Israel shall dwell in safety alone, the fountain of Jacob in a land of grain and new wine. Yes, His heavens drop down dew. ²⁹ How blessed are you, Israel! Who can be like you, a people delivered by the LORD, your shield of help and your finely crafted sword. May your enemies cower before you. You will tread down their high places.

⁶ You would frustrate the plans of the lowly, but the LORD is his refuge.

² the LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

⁴ Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy and I will praise you upon the harp, O God, my God.

¹⁴ For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even to death.

⁵ My soul, rest thou only in God, for my hope is from him. ⁶ He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken. ⁷ My salvation and my glory depend on God. God is the rock of my strength, my refuge. ⁸ ¶ Wait in him at all times; ye peoples, pour out your heart before him; God is our refuge. Selah.

⁶ The earth will yield her increase; God, our God, will bless us: ⁷ God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him.

³ Be to me a rock of refuge to which I may always go. Give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.

⁹ For thou, O the LORD, my trust; thou didst set the Most High thy refuge.

⁵ I cry out to you, O LORD. I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living."

¹⁰ The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.

² "Truly God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid. the LORD… the LORD is my strength and my song! He has become my salvation."

³ You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you. ⁴ "Trust in the LORD forever, for Jah, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.

¹ "At that time," declares the LORD, "I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they will be to me a people."

³⁸ He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for to Him all are alive.”

¹⁶ Instead, they were longing for a better country, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

³⁷ the men who spread the evil report of the land died by the plague before the LORD. ³⁸ Of all the men who went to explore the land, only Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh survived.

⁴⁶ Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, put fire from the altar in it, lay incense on it, carry it quickly to the congregation, and make atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from the LORD! The plague has begun.” ⁴⁷ Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the middle of the assembly. The plague had already begun among the people. He put on the incense, and made atonement for the people. ⁴⁸ He stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.

¹⁵ So the LORD sent a pestilence on Israel from the morning even to the appointed time; and seventy thousand men died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba.

³⁷ When there is famine in the land or pestilence or blasting or mildew or locusts or caterpillars, if their enemy besieges them in the land of their gates, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is,

¹⁰ Who gives rain on the earth, and sends water on the fields: ¹¹ to set the lowly on high, and those mourning are lifted to safety. ¹² He frustrates the plans of the crafty; so that what they work for never succeeds. ¹³ He is capturing the wise in their craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are rushed. ¹⁴ They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night. ¹⁵ But He saves the needy from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty. ¹⁶ So the poor has hope, and injustice shuts her mouth. ¹⁷ "Blessed is the person whom God corrects. Do not despise discipline from the Almighty. ¹⁸ For he wounds and binds up. He injures and his hands make whole. ¹⁹ From six troubles he will deliver you, and in seven evil shall not touch you. ²⁰ In famine, He will ransom you from death, And in battle from the hands of the sword. ²¹ "You will be protected from the sharp tongue and you will not be afraid when destruction comes. ²² You'll laugh at destruction and famine; and you need not fear the beasts of the earth.

⁶ for the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.

⁷ Our soul has escaped like a bird out of the fowlers' snare; the snare is broken, and we have escaped.

⁹ Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, from the traps of evildoers.

⁵ Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.

²³ until an arrow pierces his entrails, like a bird rushing into a snare, but he does not know that it will cost him his life.

¹² For man does not know his time. Just as fish are caught in a cruel net and like birds who are seized in a snare, so also humans are ensnared at a cruel time when it falls suddenly upon them.

⁸ The prophet keeps watch over Ephraim for my God; the snare of a fowler is on all his ways, and hostility in the house of his God.

⁵ Can a bird fall in a trap on the earth, where no snare is set for him? Does a snare spring up from the ground, when there is nothing to catch?

⁹ But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.

²⁶ And that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

¹ After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward."

¹¹ "Like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, spreads its wings to catch them, and carries them on its wings,

¹² May the LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you from the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge."

² Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help.

⁴ I will dwell in your tent forever. I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah.

²³ I will crush his enemies before him and strike those who hate him. ²⁴ My faithfulness and gracious love will be with him, and in my name his power will be exalted.

² I will bow down toward Your holy temple, and give thanks to Your Name for Your grace and for Your truth; for You have exalted above all things your name and your word.

¹ But now thus said the LORD that created you, O Jacob, and he that formed you, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine. ² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.

³⁷ "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

³¹ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

² Which rests in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the beginning of time;

¹⁷ So when God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of the promise, He guaranteed it with an oath. ¹⁸ Thus by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be strongly encouraged.

⁶ The LORD had made the Assyrian army hear the sounds of chariots, horses, and a large army, so they told one another, "Look! The king of Israel has hired the kings of the Hittites and the Egyptians to come attack us!"

¹³ In imaginations of visions of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, ¹⁴ fear and trembling met me, and made my many bones dread. ¹⁵ A spirit glided past me and made the hair on my skin to bristle.

¹⁹ From six troubles he will deliver you, and in seven evil shall not touch you. ²⁰ In famine, He will ransom you from death, And in battle from the hands of the sword. ²¹ "You will be protected from the sharp tongue and you will not be afraid when destruction comes. ²² You'll laugh at destruction and famine; and you need not fear the beasts of the earth. ²³ For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, And the wild animal of the field will be at peace with you. ²⁴ You will know peace in your tent. You will inspect your house and find nothing missing. ²⁵ "You will find that your children are many and your descendants are like the grass of the earth. ²⁶ You shall come to the grave in full vigor, like a stack of grain comes up in its season. ²⁷ "Look, we have searched this out—it is true; hear it and know it yourself."

⁴ "The Almighty's arrows are in me. My spirit drinks in their poison. God's terrors set themselves against me.

¹⁴ With the light, riseth the murderer, He slayeth the poor and needy, And, in the night, he becometh like a thief. ¹⁵ And the eye of the adulterer waits for dusk, saying, 'No eye will see me,' and he places a covering on his face. ¹⁶ In the dark they dig through houses; by day they shut themselves in; they know not the light:

⁵ I lie down and sleep, I wake up, because the LORD sustains me. ⁶ I will not fear multitudes of people, who set themselves against me on every side.

¹ The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? ² When evildoers drew near against me To devour my flesh, They who were to me my foes and my enemies, They stumbled and fell." ³ Though an army is deployed against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident.

² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea.

⁷ He will not be afraid of evil news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.

²³ Then you will walk in your way securely and your foot will not stumble. ²⁴ When you sit down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be pleasant. ²⁵ Do not be afraid of sudden disaster, or the devastation that comes to the wicked.

¹ The wicked flee when no one pursues; but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

⁸ All of them are wearing swords and are experienced in battle. Each has his sword on his thigh, ready for the terror of the night.

⁴ My heart failed, darkness amazed me: Babylon my beloved is become a wonder to me.

² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.

¹² With his bow bent, he made me the target for his arrows. ¹³ He poured into my reins the darts of his quiver.

²⁶ “You of little faith,” Jesus replied, “why are you so afraid?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was perfectly calm.

²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul will be demanded of you. Then who will have all you have prepared?'

³⁹ But understand this: If the homeowner had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.

⁶ So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"

²⁹ And so at midnight the LORD struck down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the prisoner who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of the livestock. ³⁰ Pharaoh got up during the night, he, all his officials, and all the Egyptians, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead in it.

⁴⁸ He stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.

³⁵ That night, the LORD's angel went out, and struck one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

⁵ the LORD is your protector; the LORD is your shade at your right hand. ⁶ The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

⁶ You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is still to come. ⁷ Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

³ They all ate the same spiritual food ⁴ and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. ⁵ For all that, God was not pleased with most of them—their carcasses were scattered around the desert! ⁶ These things took place as examples to keep us from craving evil things as they did. ⁷ Do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written: “The people sat down to eat and to drink, and got up to revel in idolatry.” ⁸ We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. ⁹ We should not test Christ, as some of them did, and were killed by snakes. ¹⁰ And do not complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel.

²³ Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out. Men and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.

¹² For on that night I will go through the land of Egypt, sending death on every first male child, of man and of beast, and judging all the gods of Egypt: I am the Lord. ¹³ "The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you live. When I see the blood I will pass over you. No plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

¹⁰ And now, as you see, the Lord has kept me safe these forty-five years, from the time when the Lord said this to Moses, while Israel was wandering in the waste land: and now I am eighty-five years old.

⁶ For this, let everyone who is godly pray to you in a time when you may be found. Surely when the great waters overflow, they shall not reach to him.

³⁴ Wait for the LORD, and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.

¹⁰ The righteous shall rejoice when he sees vengeance; he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. ¹¹ A person will say, "Certainly, the righteous are rewarded; certainly there is a God who judges the earth."

¹¹ My eyes gloat over those who spy on me. My ears hear the evildoers attacking me.

²⁵ Do not be afraid of sudden disaster, or the devastation that comes to the wicked. ²⁶ for the LORD will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being taken.

¹¹ Woe to the wicked. Disaster is upon them; for the work of his hands will be done to him.

⁵ Your own eyes will see this, and you will say 'Great is the LORD even beyond the borders of Israel!'"

² For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every transgression and disobedience received its just punishment,

¹ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. ² I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."

⁴ Look on my right, and see; for there is no one who is concerned for me. Refuge has fled from me. No one cares for my soul. ⁵ I cry out to you, O LORD. I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living."

⁵ Blessed is he whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God: ⁶ who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them, the one who keeps faith forever,

¹⁵ The LORD will turn aside every disease from you. He will not inflict on you the terrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but will inflict them instead on all who hate you.

²⁴ You will know peace in your tent. You will inspect your house and find nothing missing.

⁷ The LORD will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul.

²¹ No harm overwhelms the righteous, but the wicked overflow with trouble.

²⁵ But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently.

¹⁶ And he answered, Fear not, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them. ¹⁷ Elisha prayed: "O LORD, open his eyes that he may see." the LORD answered his prayer. Elisha's servant looked up and saw the hillside covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

⁷ The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.

⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

¹ Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses and trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the LORD!

¹⁸ Now what do you gain by going to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shihor? Or why do you to go on the way to Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?

⁶ “If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”

¹⁰ For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You to guard You carefully; ¹¹ and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”

¹⁴ Are not the angels ministering spirits, sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

²³ For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, And the wild animal of the field will be at peace with you.

²⁴ Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for the LORD holds him up with his hand.

²³ Then you will walk in your way securely and your foot will not stumble.

³ "Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all you who remain of the house of Israel. I have upheld you since you were conceived. I have carried you since your birth.

⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.

¹¹ and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”

⁵ Then Samson went down to Timnah with his father and his mother, and came to the vineyards of Timnah; and behold, a young lion roared at him. ⁶ Suddenly the power of the LORD made Samson strong. He tore the lion apart with his bare hands, as if it were a young goat. But he did not tell his parents what he had done.

³⁷ David said, the LORD who delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. Saul said to David, Go; and the LORD be with you.

⁴ Their venom is like the venom of a serpent, Like a deaf cobra that has contracted its ear,

¹ In that day the LORD will punish with his sword, his fierce, great and powerful sword. He will slay Leviathan the fleeing, coiling serpent, the monster of the sea.

²² "My God sent his angel, and shut the lions' mouths. They did not hurt me. I was found innocent before him. I have done no wrong before you, O king."

¹⁸ they will pick up snakes with their hands; even if they drink any deadly poison it will not hurt them; and they will place their hands on the sick, and they will recover."

¹⁹ See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you.

³ Paul gathered a bundle of sticks, and as he laid them on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself to his hand. ⁴ When the islanders saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “Surely this man is a murderer. Although he was saved from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.” ⁵ But Paul shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no ill effects. ⁶ They were expecting him to swell up or suddenly drop dead, but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.

¹³ Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit; the venom of vipers is on their lips;

²⁰ The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

¹⁷ But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was rescued from the lion's mouth.

⁹ And the great dragon was hurled down—the ancient serpent called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

¹ Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven with the key to the Abyss, holding in his hand a great chain. ² He seized the dragon, the ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

³ And moreover, in my affection for the house of my God I have given of my own property of gold and silver, for the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary:

¹⁰ Those who know your name will trust you, for you have not forsaken those who seek you, LORD.

¹ For the music director, according to Do Not Destroy. Of David. A miktam. When Saul dispatched men and they watched the house to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, O my God. Protect me from those who rise up against me.

¹⁶ They rejoice in your name all the day. They are exalted in your righteousness. ¹⁷ For You are the glory of their strength; and by Your favor You lift up our horn.

¹⁶ This man will dwell on the heights. His refuge will be the mountain fortress. His bread will be supplied, and he will have water.

²³ Jesus replied. "If any loves me he will obey my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

²⁷ for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came from God.

³ Now this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

²⁸ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.

⁹ But now that you know God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you are turning back to those weak and worthless principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?

⁹ Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the name above all names, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, ¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹² Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.

⁵ Listen, my dearly loved brothers; did not God choose those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be wealthy in faith and to inherit the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?

³⁰ Therefore the LORD the God of Israel says, 'I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before Me forever'. But now the LORD says, 'Far be it from Me. Those who honour Me I will honour, and those who despise Me shall be despised.

⁴ "I have become a laughingstock to my friends! I called upon God and he answered. Yet I am a mere laughingstock, though righteous and blameless!

¹⁷ LORD, you heard the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen them, you will listen carefully,

³ I call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; and I am saved from my enemies. ⁴ The ropes of death encircled me, and streams of ruin overwhelmed me.

¹⁵ Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were uncovered at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.

⁴ Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

⁴⁰ the LORD helps them and delivers them. He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take put their trust in Him.

¹⁵ Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me."

⁷ Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me alive. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my enemies, and you save me with your right hand.

¹⁰ "'Do not fear for I am with you! Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.'

⁹ Then you will call, and the LORD will answer. You will cry for help, and he will say, 'Here I am.' “If you take away from among you the yoke, finger pointing, and speaking wickedly;

²⁴ "Before they call I will answer! While they are still speaking I will hear.

¹² And you will call upon me and you will go and pray to me and I will listen to you. ¹³ You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.

³ Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and inscrutable things which you do not know.

²⁰ and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

⁴⁴ How can you believe if you accept glory from one another, yet do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

²⁶ If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, My servant will be as well. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

⁴³ For they loved praise from men more than praise from God.

³² Behold, an hour is coming and has come, when you will be scattered, each to the own, and I, you shall leave alone; yet I am not alone, for the Father is with Me.

⁹ One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking; do not be silent. ¹⁰ for I am with you and no one shall attack and harm you, for I have many people in this city."

¹² For there is no difference between Jew and Greek: The same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on Him, ¹³ for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

⁹ Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. ¹⁰ He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. In Him we have placed our hope that He will yet again deliver us,

⁷ During the days of Jesus’ earthly life, He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.

²¹ Through Him you believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and glorified Him; and so your faith and hope are in God.

²² who has gone to heaven and is at God's right hand, with angels, hierarchies, and powers made subject to him.

⁴ And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

²¹ To him who overcomes I will grant the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame, and sat down with my Father on his throne.

⁸ Then Abraham breathed his last, and died in a good old age, an old man and full of days, and was added to his people.

² so that you, your children, and your grandchildren may fear the LORD your God. Keep all his decrees and commandments that I'm giving you every day of your life, so you may live a long time.

²⁶ You shall come to the grave in full vigor, like a stack of grain comes up in its season.

¹¹ You have made known to me the ways of life; You will fill me with joy with Your countenance: at Your right hand there are delights forever.

⁴ He asked life from you; you gave it to him— length of days forever and ever.

²³ He who sacrifices a thank offering honors me, and he who orders his way; I will show him the salvation of God."

² for they will add to you length of days, years of life, and peace.

¹⁶ Long life is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor.

⁴ By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life.

¹⁷ the LORD will save Israel with an everlasting salvation. You will never be put to shame or disgraced, to ages everlasting.

²⁰ "Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years. He who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth. The sinner who reaches a hundred will be considered accursed. ²¹ "They will build houses and dwell in them. They will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. ²² "No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people. My chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands.

³⁰ For my eyes have seen your salvation

⁶ And all mankind will see God’s salvation.”
