¹ LORD, how my adversaries have increased. Many rise up against me. 2 Many are saying about me, "God will never deliver him!" [Interlude] ³ But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. ⁴ I cry to LORD with my voice, and he answers me out of his holy hill. Selah. ⁵ I lie down and sleep, I wake up, because the LORD sustains me. ⁶ I will not fear multitudes of people, who set themselves against me on every side. ⁷ Arise, LORD. Save me, my God. For you slap all my enemies in the face. You break the teeth of the wicked. ⁸ To the LORD belongs deliverance; may your blessing be over your people. Selah

¹ And after this Absalom began to furnish himself with a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him. ² And Absalom rose up early and stood beside the way of the gate. And it was so, if any man had a suit to come before the king for judgment, then Absalom called to him and said, What city are you from? And he said, Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel. ³ Absalom said to him, "Look, your matters are good and right; but there is no man deputized by the king to hear you." ⁴ And Absalom would say, Oh, that I were made judge in the land, that everyone who has any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice! ⁵ The man would approach Absalom and bow down before him. Then Absalom would reach out and hug and kiss him. ⁶ And Absalom acted this way to all Israel who came in to the king for judgment. And Absalom stole the heart of the men of Israel. ⁷ Now at the end of four years, Absalom said to the king, Let me go to Hebron and give effect to the oath which I made to the Lord: ⁸ "When I lived at Geshur in Syria (Aram), I promised the LORD that if he would take me back to Jerusalem, I would worship him in Hebron." ⁹ The king said to him, "Go in peace." So he arose, and went to Hebron. ¹⁰ But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you will say, Absalom is king in Hebron. ¹¹ Meanwhile, 200 men left Jerusalem with Absalom. They had been invited to go along, but were innocent, not knowing anything about what was happening. ¹² Absalom was offering sacrifices. He sent for Ahithophel, David's adviser, to come from his home in Giloh. Meanwhile, the conspiracy grew stronger. The number of people siding with Absalom kept getting larger. ¹³ A messenger came to David, saying, "The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom." ¹⁴ And David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, Come, let us go in flight, or not one of us will be safe from Absalom: let us go without loss of time, or he will overtake us quickly and send evil on us, and put the town to the sword. ¹⁵ The king's servants said to the king, "Look, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king chooses." ¹⁶ The king left on foot. His whole household followed him. The king left ten concubines behind to take care of the palace. ¹⁷ So the king went out with all the people following him, and they stopped at the last house. ¹⁸ All his mercenaries passed by him. The Cherethites, all the Pelethites, Ittai, and all six hundred men who had followed him from Gath marched past the king.

¹⁵ And Absalom and the men of Israel came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel was with him.

¹¹ "My advice is to gather all Israel's troops from Dan to Beersheba. They are as numerous as the sand on the seashore. Lead them into battle yourself. ¹² »Find him and attack him! We will fall on him as dew falls on the ground. Neither he nor any of his men will be left alive. ¹³ Even if he withdraws to a city, all Israel will bring up ropes to that city, and they will drag him away to the valley until there is not even a pebble to be found."

⁷ Show your marvelous loving kindness, O you who saves by your right hand those who take refuge from those who rise up.

²¹ Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rise against their parents and have them put to death.

²⁵ All the people answered, "May his blood be on us, and on our children."

⁷ Shimei cursed him and said: "Get out! Get out you murderer! ⁸ The LORD has returned on you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned. The LORD has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son. Look, you are caught by your own mischief, because you are a man of blood."

⁴ I cry to LORD with my voice, and he answers me out of his holy hill. Selah.

⁸ To the LORD belongs deliverance; may your blessing be over your people. Selah

² O you sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame? how long will you love vanity, and seek after falsehood? Selah.

⁴ Be disturbed but do not sin. Commune in your heart on your bed and be silent. Selah

⁷ All who see me deride me; they bust out the lip, they shake the head,

³ My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all day long: Where is your God?

¹⁰ Like the shattering of my bones are the taunts of my oppressors, saying to me all day long, "Where is your God?"

¹¹ saying, "God has forsaken him. Pursue and take him, for no one will rescue him."

³ God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and his praise filled the earth.

⁹ You uncovered your bow. You called for your sworn arrows. Selah. You split the earth with rivers.

¹³ You went out for the salvation of your people, for the salvation of your anointed. You crushed the head of the land of wickedness. You stripped them head to foot. Selah.

⁴² "He saved others," they said, "but he cannot save himself! He the 'king of Israel'! Let him come down now from the cross; then we will believe in him! ⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, 'I am the Son of God.'"

¹ After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward."

¹³ "In the next three days Pharaoh will release you and restore you to your position. You will put Pharaoh's cup in his hand as you used to do when you were his cupbearer.

²⁹ How blessed are you, Israel! Who can be like you, a people delivered by the LORD, your shield of help and your finely crafted sword. May your enemies cower before you. You will tread down their high places.

²⁷ And it came to pass in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, lift

³ But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for Himself. the LORD hears when I call to Him.

² the LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

⁶ Now my head will be lifted up above my enemies, even those who surround me. I will sacrifice in his tent with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melodies to the LORD.

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I received help. My heart exalts, and I give thanks to him with my song.

⁷ My salvation and my glory depend on God. God is the rock of my strength, my refuge.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

⁷ He will drink of the brook in the way; therefore he will lift up his head.

¹¹⁴ You are my covert and my shield; I hope in Your word.

²⁵ In the LORD all the seed of Israel will be justified and will glory.

¹⁹ The sun will be no more your light by day; nor will the brightness of the moon give light to you, but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.

³² a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel."

¹¹ having the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.

²³ The city does not need the sun nor the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God lighted it, and the Lamb is its lamp.

⁶ "But I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill."

² O my God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not answer; and in the night, and am not silent. ³ Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. ⁴ In You our fathers trusted; They trusted, and You delivered them." ⁵ They cried to you, and were delivered. They trusted in you, and were not disappointed.

⁴ I sought the LORD, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.

⁶ This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

³ Send forth your light and your truth so they may guide me. Let them bring me to your holy mountain and to your dwelling places.

¹⁵ Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me."

¹⁷ I cried to Him with my mouth, and exalted Him with my tongue. ¹⁸ If I cherished sin in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened. ¹⁹ But God hath heard me; and considered the voice of my prayer.

³ Have mercy on me Lord, for I call on you all day long. ⁴ Bring joy to the soul of your servant, for to you, Lord, do I lift up my soul.

¹⁵ He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him.

⁹ Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy!

¹ I love the LORD because he has heard my prayer for mercy; ² Because he has turned his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. ³ The cords of death compassed me, and the pains of Sheol gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow ⁴ Then I called on the name of the LORD: "O LORD, please save my life!"

¹ A song of ascents. Out of the depths I call to you, O LORD. ² Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions.

¹³ For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling. ¹⁴ "This is my resting place forever. Here I will live, for I have desired it.

³ When I called, you answered me. You made me bold. You strengthened me.

¹ I cry with my voice to the LORD. With my voice, I ask the LORD for mercy. 2 I pour out my complaint before him. I tell him my troubles. ³ When my spirit faints within me, you know my way. On the path where I walk, they have hidden a trap for me;

²⁴ "Before they call I will answer! While they are still speaking I will hear.

¹² And you will call upon me and you will go and pray to me and I will listen to you. ¹³ You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.

⁷ Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

¹³ Is anyone of you in trouble? let him pray. Is anyone thriving? let him sing praise.

⁶ And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, with none to make you afraid; and I will remove evil beasts out of the land, and the sword shall not pass through your land.

¹⁸ "You will be secure because there is hope. You will look about you and take your rest in safety. ¹⁹ Also you will lie down, and no one will make you afraid. Yes, many will court your favor.

⁸ I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, LORD, enable me to live securely.

⁹ He gives us life and does not permit our feet to slip.

² It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

²⁴ When you sit down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be pleasant.

²⁶ In the fear of the LORD, there is confidence of strength, and for his children, there will be refuge.

¹⁰ The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.

³ You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you.

⁶ On the night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, with sentries standing guard at the entrance to the prison.

⁷ And the people of Israel were defeated there by David's army, and a great slaughter was made that day of twenty thousand men.

¹⁵ When the servant of the man of God had risen early, and gone out, look, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. His servant said to him, "Alas, my master. What shall we do?" ¹⁶ And he answered, Fear not, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them. ¹⁷ Elisha prayed: "O LORD, open his eyes that he may see." the LORD answered his prayer. Elisha's servant looked up and saw the hillside covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

² The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One.

⁴ Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

¹ The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? ² When evildoers drew near against me To devour my flesh, They who were to me my foes and my enemies, They stumbled and fell." ³ Though an army is deployed against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident.

² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea.

⁷ the LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

¹⁰ All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD, I cut them off. ¹¹ They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me. In the name of the LORD I indeed cut them off. ¹² They surrounded me like bees but they are quenched like the burning thorns. In the name of the LORD I cut them off.

³¹ What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

¹⁰ People gaped at me with mouths wide open; they slap me in their scorn and gather together against me.

¹⁷ I broke the fangs of the wicked, and plucked the prey out of his teeth.

⁴ Return, O LORD, and deliver me. Save me because of your unfailing love.

⁶ Arise, LORD, in your anger. Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries. Awake, my God; you have appointed judgment.

¹² Arise, LORD. God, lift up your hand. Do not forget the helpless.

⁵ Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise, says the LORD; I will set him in safety from those who malign him.

²³ Wake up, and rise to my defense. Plead my case, O my God the LORD.

²³ Wake up. Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise. Do not reject us forever.

⁶ God broke their teeth in their mouths; the lord fractured in pieces the molars of the lions.

⁵ You, LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, rouse yourself to punish the nations. Show no mercy to the wicked traitors. Selah.

¹¹ Why do you draw back your hand, even your right hand? Take it out of your pocket and consume them.

⁹ when God rose for justice, to save all the afflicted of the land. Selah

⁹ Awake, awake! Clothe yourself with strength, O arm of the LORD. Awake, as in days gone by, as in generations of old. Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced that monster through?

³⁰ Let him give his cheek to him who strikes him; let him be filled with insults.

¹⁹ Woe to him who says to the wood, 'Wake up!' And to a lifeless stone, 'Arise!' Can he teach? Look, it is covered with gold and silver, and there is no breath within it.

¹¹ May the LORD give strength to his people. May the LORD bless his people with peace.

³⁹ The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD. He is their stronghold in the time of trouble. ⁴⁰ the LORD helps them and delivers them. He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take put their trust in Him.

¹⁷ His name endures forever, his name continues as long as the sun. Men shall be blessed in him, all nations will call him blessed.

³¹ The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with the LORD.

¹¹ I, even I, am the LORD; and besides me there is no savior.

²¹ Declare and bring near; yea, let them consult together. Who has revealed this of old; who has told it from then? Is it not I, the LORD? And there is no God other than Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none except Me. ²² Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

²³ Surely, an illusion comes from the hills, the turmoil on the mountains. Surely, in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.

⁴ "I AM the LORD YOUR GOD. I brought you out of Egypt. You have known no god besides me. There is no savior except me.

⁹ But as for me, with a voice of thanksgiving I will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Deliverance is the LORD's!"

²⁶ When God raised up His servant, He sent Him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

¹² Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.

¹⁴ He said: "I will surely bless you and give you many descendants."

⁹ Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

¹⁰ They cried out in a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the lamb!"

¹ After this I heard a sound like the roar of a great multitude in heaven, shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God!
