¹⁷ Pay attention and listen to the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my teaching,

¹² So teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

³ To receive the discipline of wisdom, justice, and right, and equity;

² so as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; ³ if, indeed, you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, ⁴ If you seek it as for silver And search for it as for buried treasures, ⁵ then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

¹ My son, do not forget my teaching; but let your heart keep my commandments:

⁴ Father taught me. He said: »Remember my words in your heart. Obey my commandments and live. ⁵ Get wisdom. Get understanding. Do not forget, neither swerve from the words of my mouth. ⁶ "Do not abandon her, and she will protect you. Love her, and she will watch over you. ⁷ Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding. ⁸ "Love wisdom and she will exalt you. Embrace wisdom and she will honor you.

¹ My son, pay attention to my wisdom, and listen closely to my insight, ² that you may maintain discretion, that your lips may preserve knowledge.

³³ Listen to instruction and be wise. Don't ignore it. ³⁴ Blessed is the person who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorways

²⁵ I applied my heart to know and to search and to seek out wisdom and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly and the madness of error;

⁹ All this have I seen, and applied my heart to every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man rules over another to his own hurt.
