³ And he said to them, Take nothing for your journey, no staff, no bag, no bread, no money; not even an extra tunic.

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture.

⁹ Do not carry any gold or silver or copper in your belts. ¹⁰ nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff; for the worker is worthy of his food. ¹¹ Whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy and stay at his house until you move on. ¹² As you enter the house, give it your greeting. ¹³ If the home is worthy, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. ¹⁴ And if anyone will not welcome you or heed your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.

⁸ He ordered them not to take anything for the journey except a staff, no bread, no bag, no money in the purse; ⁹ and to wear sandals, but not a second tunic. ¹⁰ And He told them, “When you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. ¹¹ If anyone will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that place, as a testimony against them.”

¹¹ John replied, “Whoever has two tunics should share with him who has none, and whoever has food should do the same.”

²⁹ Then Levi made a great banquet for Him at his house; and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them.

⁴ Carry no purse or bag or sandals. Do not greet anyone along the road. ⁵ And whenever you go into a house, first say, Peace be to this house. ⁶ If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. ⁷ Stay at the same house, eating and drinking whatever you are offered. For the worker is worthy of his wages. Do not move around from house to house. ⁸ If you enter a town and they welcome you, eat whatever is set before you. ⁹ Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God is near you.’ ¹⁰ But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, ¹¹ ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off as a testimony against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.’ ¹² I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.

²² Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear.

²⁸ If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith!

³⁵ Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you out without purse or bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Nothing,” they answered.

⁴ No one serving in the military gets mixed up in civilian matters, for his aim is to please his commanding officer.
