1 After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him to every town and place He was about to visit.
2 And He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.
3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.
4 Carry no purse or bag or sandals. Do not greet anyone along the road.
5 And whenever you go into a house, first say, Peace be to this house.
6 If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you.
7 Stay at the same house, eating and drinking whatever you are offered. For the worker is worthy of his wages. Do not move around from house to house.
8 If you enter a town and they welcome you, eat whatever is set before you.
9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God is near you.’
10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say,
11 ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off as a testimony against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.’
12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.
13 Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had happened in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you.
15 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will go down to Hades!
16 He who listens to you listens to me, he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."
17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your name.”
18 He said to them, I saw Satan falling like lightning from heaven.
19 See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you.
20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
21 At that time, Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and declared, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your sight.
22 All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son, and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.”
23 And he turned to his disciples, and said privately: Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.
24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”
25 One day an expert in the law stood up to test Him. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 “What is written in the Law?” Jesus replied. “How do you read it?”
27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus said. “Do this and you will live.”
29 But the man wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
30 To which Jesus replied: "A man was once going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him of everything, and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead.
31 Now a priest happened to be going down that way, and on seeing him passed by on the other side.
32 So likewise, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33 But a Samaritan, as he travelled, came where he was, and saw him, and took pity on him,
34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Take care of him,’ he said, ‘and on my return I will repay you for any additional expense.’
36 Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”
37 He said, "The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."
38 As they continued their journey, Jesus came to a village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him to her house.
39 She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to His message.
40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations to be made. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me!”
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord replied, “you are worried and upset about many things.
42 but only one thing is needed. And Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."

40 After Paul and Silas came out of the prison, they went to Lydia’s house to see the brothers and encourage them. Then they left the city.
1 Corinthians 9:4-15
4 Do we not have the right to food and drink?
5 We have the right to take a believing wife with us like the other apostles, the Lord's brothers, and Cephas, don't we?
6 Or have only I and Barnabas no right not to be working?
7 Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Who tends a flock and does not drink of its milk?
8 Do I say this merely from a human point of view? Does not the Law say the same thing?
9 For it is written in the Law of Moses: “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” Is it about oxen that God is concerned?
10 Isn’t He actually speaking on our behalf? Indeed, this was written for us, because when the plowman plows and the thresher threshes, they should also expect to share in the harvest.
11 If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?
12 If others have this right to your support, shouldn’t we have it all the more But we did not exercise this right. Instead, we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ.
13 Do you not know that those who work in the temple get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar?
14 In the same way, the Lord has prescribed that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.
15 But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me. I would rather die than have anyone deprive me of my ground for boasting.

6 However, the one who receives instruction in the word must share in all good things with his instructor.

6 The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive his share of the crops.
3 John 1:5-8
5 Dear friend, you act faithfully in whatever you do for the brothers, even though they are strangers.
6 They have testified to the church about your love. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God.
7 because it was for the sake of the Name that they went out, accepting nothing from pagans.
8 We therefore ought to welcome such, so that we may work together for the Truth.

7 Nearby stood an estate belonging to the Publius, the chief official of the island. He welcomed us and entertained us hospitably for three days.
8 The father of Publius was sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul went in to see him, and after praying and placing his hands on him, he healed the man.
9 After this had happened, the rest of the sick on the island came and were cured as well.

6 But when they began to oppose him and insult him, he shook out his clothes in protest and told them, "Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the gentiles."
Deuteronomy 30:11-14
11 "This commandment that I command you today is not too difficult for you. It is not out of reach.
12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, “Who will go up for us to heaven, bring it to us, and proclaim it to us, that we may do it?”
13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, “Who will go over the sea for us, bring it to us, and proclaim it to us, that we may do it?”
14 For the word is very near to you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.

6 The punishment of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of Sodom, which was overturned suddenly without a hand lifted to help her.
Ezekiel 16:48-50
48 As I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, your sister Sodom, she and her daughters, have not done as you and your daughters have done.
49 ‘»This was the guilt of your sister Sodom. She and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy.
50 '"They were arrogant and did disgusting things in front of me. So I did away with them when I saw this.

Isaiah 23:1-18
1 Wail, O ships of Tarshish! For Tyre is destroyed and left without house or harbor. From the land of Cyprus (Kittim) word has come to them.
2 Be silent, you people of the island and you merchants of Sidon, whom the seafarers have enriched.
3 On the great waters came the grain of the Shihor. The harvest of the Nile River was the revenue of Tyre, and she became the marketplace of the nations.
4 Be ashamed, O Sidon, and you, O fortress of the sea, for the sea has spoken: I have neither been in labor nor given birth. I have neither reared sons nor brought up daughters.
5 When word arrives at Egypt, they will be in anguish at the report from Tyre.
6 Crossover to Tarshish and cry you people of the island.
7 Is this your exultant city founded in antiquity? Is this the city that sent its people to settle in distant lands?
8 Who has planned this against Tyre, the giver of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traders are the honorable of the earth?
9 the LORD Almighty has planned it: to defile the pride of all glory, to humble all the honored ones of the earth.
10 Cross over your own land like the Nile, daughter of Tarshish; there is no longer a harbor.
11 the LORD has stretched his hand over the sea to shake kingdoms. He has commanded that Canaan's fortifications be destroyed.
12 He said: "You will exult no more, O crushed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Cyprus; even there you will find no rest."
13 Look at the land of the Chaldeans. This is the people that were not. Assyria appointed it for desert creatures. They erected their siege towers and they stripped its palaces. They made it a ruin!
14 Wail, ships of Tarshish! For your fortress is destroyed.
15 Now in that day Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years like the lifespan of one king. At the end of seventy years it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute:
16 Take a harp, go about the city, harlot that hast been forgotten: sing well, sing many a song, that thou mayst be remembered.
17 And it will be, after the end of seventy years, the LORD will visit Tyre; and she shall return to her hire, and will fornicate with all the kingdoms of the earth, on the face of the earth.
18 And her goods and her wages shall be holiness to the LORD; it shall not be hoarded nor stored; for her goods shall be for those who dwell before the LORD, to eat enough, and for a choice covering.
Isaiah 61:3
3 to give for those in mourning in Zion, to give them a head wrap instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a faint spirit. And they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, to show his glory.
Ezekiel 3:6-7
6 and not to many nations of obscure speech and a difficult language whose words you do not understand, for if I had sent you to them they would have listened to you.
7 But the house of Israel is not willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to Me, for all the house of Israel are strong of forehead and hard of heart.
Ezekiel 26:1-28:26
1 Now in the eleventh year, on the first of the month, the word of the LORD came to me:
2 Son of man, because Tyre hath said of Jerusalem: Aha, the gates of the people are broken, she is turned to me: I shall be filled, now she is laid waste.
3 "Therefore the Sovereign LORD says: 'I am against you, O Tyre, and I will bring up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves.
4 "'They will destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers. I will scrape her debris from her and make her a bare rock.
5 She will be a place for the spreading of nets in the middle of the sea; for I have spoken it,' says the Sovereign LORD. 'She will become plunder for the nations.
6 "'Her daughters on the mainland will be killed by the sword. They will know that I am the LORD.'
7 For thus says the Sovereign LORD: Behold, I will bring on Tyre Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, from the north, with horses, with chariots, with horsemen and a company, and many people.
8 '"He will slay your daughters on the mainland with the sword. He will make siege walls against you, cast up a ramp against you and raise up a large shield against you.
9 "'He will direct the blow of his battering rams against your walls. He will break down your towers with his axes.
10 By reason of the abundance of his horses, their dust will cover you. Your walls will shake at the noise of the horsemen, of the wagons, and of the chariots, when he enters into your gates, as men enter into a city which is broken open.
11 "'The hoofs of his horses will trample all your streets. He will slay your people with the sword and your strong pillars will come down to the ground.
12 "'They will make a spoil of your riches and a prey of your merchandise. They will break down your walls and destroy your pleasant houses. They will throw your stones and your timbers and your debris into the water.'
13 "'So I will silence the sound of your songs, and the sound of your harps will be heard no more.
14 "'I will make you a bare rock. You will be a place for the spreading of nets. You will be built no more, for I the LORD have spoken,' declares the Sovereign LORD.
15 "The Sovereign LORD says to Tyre: 'Will not the coastlands shake at the sound of your fall when the wounded groan, when the slaughter occurs in your midst?
16 '"Then all the princes of the sea will go down from their thrones and remove their robes and strip off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling. They will sit on the ground, tremble every moment and be appalled at you.
17 And they shall take up a lament for you and say to you, How you are perished, who lived by the seas, the city well praised, which was strong in the sea, she and her dwellers, who put their terror on all her dwellers!
18 Now the islands tremble in the day of your ruin; yes, the islands in the sea terrify at your departure.
19 "The Sovereign LORD says: 'When I make you a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited, when I bring up the deep over you and the great waters cover you,
20 then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit (grave), to the people of old, and I will make you dwell in the lower parts of the earth. It will be like the ancient waste places, with those who go down to the pit (grave), so that you will not be inhabited; but I will set glory in the land of the living.
21 "I will bring terrors on you and you will be no more. Though you will be sought, you will never be found again,' declares the Sovereign LORD."
Ezekiel 27:1-28:26
1 The Word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2 "You, son of man, take up a lamentation over Tyre;
3 Say to Tyre, who dwells at the entrance to the sea, merchant of the peoples to many coastlands, thus says the Sovereign LORD: "'O Tyre, you have said, 'I am perfect in beauty.'
4 your borders are in the heart of the seas, your builders perfect your beauty:
5 They have made all your planks of fir trees from Senir; they have taken a cedar from Lebanon to make a mast for you.
6 Of oaks of Bashan they made your oars, Your bench they have made of ivory, A branch of Ashurim from isles of Chittim."
7 "Your sail was of fine embroidered linen from Egypt. It became your distinguishing mark. Your awning was blue and purple from the coastlands of Elishah.
8 "'"The inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your rowers. Your wise men, O Tyre, were aboard. They were your pilots.
9 "‘"The elders of Gebal and her wise men were with you repairing your seams. All the ships of the sea and their sailors were with you in order to deal in your merchandise.
10 “‘“Persia, Lud, and Put were in your army, your men of war. They hung the shield and helmet in you. They showed your beauty.
11 The sons of Arvad and your army were on your walls all around, and warriors were in your towers. They hung their shields on your walls all around; they have made your beauty perfect.
12 Tarshish did business with you because of the great amount of your wealth; they gave silver, iron, tin, and lead for your goods.
13 Javan, Tubal and Meshech, they were your merchants, they gave the souls of men and vessels of bronze for your goods.
14 From Beth Togarmah they exchanged horses and war horses and mules for your wares.
15 "'"The sons of Dedan were your traders. Many coastlands were your market; ivory tusks and ebony they brought as your payment.
16 Edom did business with you because of the great number of things which you made; they gave emeralds, purple, and needlework, and the best linen and coral and rubies for your goods.
17 “'“Judah and the land of Israel were your traders. They traded wheat of Minnith, confections, honey, oil, and balm for your merchandise.
18 Damascus did business with you because of the great amount of your wealth, with wine of Helbon and white wool.
19 Dedan also and Javan going to and fro traded in your wares: wrought iron, cassia, and calamus, were in your market.
20 Dedan was your merchant in saddle blankets for riding.
21 "'"Arabia and all the princes of Kedar were your customers for lambs, rams and goats.
22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were thy merchants: they occupied in thy fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.
23 Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad traded with thee:
24 bringing for merchandise blue, and choice stores bound with cords, and cypress wood.
25 "'"The ships of Tarshish were the carriers for your merchandise. And you were filled and were very glorious in the heart of the seas.
26 Your rowers made you come into great waters, the east wind has broken you in the heart of the seas.
Ezekiel 28:1-26
1 The word of the LORD came unto me saying,
2 "Son of man, tell the ruler of Tyre: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'"In your arrogance you say, 'I am a god (strong deity). I sit on God's throne in the sea.' But you are only human and not a god, although you think you are a god. (2 Thes 2:4)
3 Look, are you wiser than Daniel, so that no secret is hidden from you?
4 By your wisdom and by your understanding You have made for you wealth, And make gold and silver in your treasuries."
5 By thy great skill and thy traffic thou hast increased thy wealth; and with thy wealth thy heart is elated;
6 Therefore thus says the Sovereign LORD: Because you have set your heart as the heart of God,
7 '"I will bring strangers, ruthless nations, upon you. They will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom and defile your splendor.
8 They will thrust you down to the pit, and you will die a violent death in the heart of the seas.
9 '"You will no longer say that you are a god when you face those who kill you. You will be a human, not a god, in the hands of those who kill you."'
10 You will die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers; for I have spoken it,” says the Sovereign LORD.'”
11 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyre, and say unto him, Thus says the Lord GOD; You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz, emerald, chrysolite, onyx, jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and beryl. Gold work of tambourines and of pipes was in you. In the day that you were created they were prepared.
14 »‘»I appointed an angel to guard you. You were on God's holy mountain. You walked among fiery stones.
15 You were blameless in your ways from the day when you were created, until wickedness was found in you.
16 By the multitude of your trade, they filled your midst with violence, and you sinned. So I cast you defiled from the height of God, and I destroyed you, O covering cherub, from among the stones of fire.
17 Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you ruined your wisdom because of your splendor. I threw you on the ground before kings; I have exposed you for viewing.
18 By the host of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your trade, you have profaned your holy places. So I brought a fire from your midst and it shall devour you, and I will give you for ashes on the earth in the sight of all who see you.
19 "'"All who know you among the peoples are appalled at you. You have become terrified. You will cease to be forever."'"
20 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
21 Son of man, set your face against Sidon and prophesy against her,
22 and you must say, 'Thus says the Sovereign LORD: "Look! I am against you, Sidon, and I display my glory in the midst of you, and they will know that I am the LORD when I execute my judgments, and I will show myself holy within it.
23 For I will send pestilence into her, and blood into her streets. The wounded will fall within her, with the sword on her on every side. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
24 And there is no more to the house of Israel A pricking brier, and paining thorn, Of all round about them--despising them, And they have known that I [am] the Sovereign LORD."
25 "'The Sovereign LORD says: "When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, I will make known my holiness in them in the sight of the nations. Then they will live in their land that I gave to my servant Jacob.
26 "'"They will live in it securely. They will build houses, plant vineyards and live securely when I execute judgments upon all who scorn them round about them. Then they will know that I am the LORD their God!"'"
Daniel 9:3
3 And I turned to the Lord God, to seek by prayer and petitions, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.
Joel 3:4-8
4 "Yes, and what are you to me, Tyre, and Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Will you repay me? And if you repay me, I will swiftly and speedily return your repayment on your own head.
5 since you took my silver and gold, carried my precious treasures into your temples,
6 and sold the sons of Juda and the sons of Jerusalem to the Greeks, that you might remove them far from their borders;
7 "Behold, I will arouse them out of the place where you sold them and will return your recompense upon your head.
8 I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans and to a nation far away, for the LORD has spoken.
Matthew 11:20-23
20 Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles had taken place, because they did not repent.
21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had happened in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
23 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will descend to Hades! For if the miracles that were performed in you had happened in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.
Mark 8:22-26
22 They came to Bethsaida. There some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him.
23 So he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. And when he had spit on his eyes and put his hands on him, he asked him "Do you see anything?"
24 He looked up, and said, "I see people; they look like trees walking."
25 Once again Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes, and when he opened them his sight was restored, and he could see everything clearly.
26 And Jesus sent him home, saying, "Do not go even into the village."
Luke 9:10-17
10 And when the apostles returned, they told him what they had done. Then he took them with him and withdrew apart to a city called Bethsaida.
11 But the crowds found out and followed Him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and He healed those who needed healing.
12 As the day neared its end, the Twelve came to Jesus and said, “Dismiss the crowd so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside for lodging and provisions. For we are in a desolate place here.”
13 But He said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said, "We have no more than five loaves of bread and two fish, unless we go and buy food for all these people."
14 For there were about five thousand men. But he said to his disciples, "Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each."
15 The disciples did so, and made them all sit down.
16 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the people.
17 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
John 3:5-6
Acts 28:25-28
25 When they disagreed among themselves, they began to leave, after Paul had made one final statement: "The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet:
26 ‘Go to this people and say, “You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.”
27 For this people’s heart has grown callous; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them.’
28 Therefore be it known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!”
Romans 9:29-33
29 It is just as Isaiah predicted: “Unless the Lord of Hosts had left us descendants, we would have become like Sodom, we would have resembled Gomorrah.”
30 What then will we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;
31 but Israel, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it.
32 Why not? Because their pursuit was not by faith, but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,
33 just as it is written, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone that causes people to stumble, and a rock that causes them to fall, and the one who believes in him will not be put to shame."
Romans 11:8-11
8 as it is written: "God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear, down to this very day."
9 And David says: "Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them.
10 Let their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever.”
11 I ask then, did they stumble so as to lose their share? Absolutely not! However, because of their trespass, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel jealous.

47 That servant who knows his master’s will but does not get ready or follow his instructions will be beaten with many blows.
48 But the one who unknowingly does things worthy of punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from him who has been entrusted with much, even more will be demanded.
John 3:19
19 And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil.
John 15:22-25
22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin.
23 He who hates me, hates my Father also.
24 If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father.
25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated Me without reason.’
Romans 2:1
1 You therefore have no excuse, you who pass judgment on another. For on whatever grounds you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
Romans 2:27
27 The one who is not circumcised physically and yet obeys the law will condemn you who, even though you have the written code and circumcision, are a breaker of the law.

15 But you are brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the pit.

53 "Though Babylon should reach up to the heavens and fortify her high fortresses, from me destroyers will come to her," declares the LORD.
Ezekiel 26:20
20 then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit (grave), to the people of old, and I will make you dwell in the lower parts of the earth. 33 Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
34 Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us.

Matthew 13:11-16
11 He replied, “The knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.
12 Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
13 This is why I speak to them in parables: ‘Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.’
14 In them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled: ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15 For this people’s heart has grown callous; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them.’
16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear;

John 17:24-26
24 Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am and to see my glory, which you gave me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
25 Righteous Father, though the world did not know you, I knew you, and these men knew that you had sent me.
26 I made your name known to them, and will continue to make it known, so that the love you have for me may be in them and I myself may be in them."
1 Corinthians 1:9-29
9 God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.
10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree together, so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be united in mind and conviction.
11 My brothers, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you.
12 Now I mean this, that each one of you says, "I follow Paul," "I follow Apollos," "I follow Cephas," and, "I follow Christ."
13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?
14 I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,
15 so no one can say that you were baptized into my name.
16 Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that I do not remember baptizing anyone else.
17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospelnot with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”
20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
21 For since in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know Him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,
23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.
26 Brothers, think about your own calling. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are,
29 that no flesh may boast before him.
1 Corinthians 2:6-8
6 But we speak wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to naught.
7 But we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and which God destined for our glory before the ages.
8 None of the rulers of this age understood it; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
1 Corinthians 3:18-20
18 Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, he should become a fool, so that he may become wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”
20 And again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”
2 Corinthians 4:3
3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.

5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will,

John 5:22-27
22 For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son,
23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
24 Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.
25 Truly, truly, I tell you, the hour is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.
26 For as the Father has life in himself; so he has granted to the Son to have life in himself;
27 and he has given him authority to judge, because he is the Son of Man.
John 6:44-46
44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me—
46 not that anyone has seen the Father except the One who is from God; only He has seen the Father.

Hebrews 11:39
39 These were all commended for their faith, yet they did not receive what was promised.
1 Peter 1:10-12
10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who foretold the grace that would come to you, searched and investigated carefully,
11 trying to determine the time and setting to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.
12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they foretold the things now announced by those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
Matthew 19:16-19
16 And a man came up to Jesus, and said: "Teacher, what good thing must I do to obtain Immortal life?"
17 “Why do you ask Me about what is good?” Jesus replied, “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”
18 “Which ones?” the man asked. Jesus answered, “‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness,
19 honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Matthew 22:34-39
34 But hearing that He had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees were gathered together.
35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested Him with a question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?"
37 Jesus declared, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

Romans 3:19
19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it says to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.
Romans 4:14-16
14 For if those who live by the Law are heirs, faith is useless and the promise is worthless,
15 because the Law brings wrath. And where there is no law, there is no transgression.
16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may rest on grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
Romans 10:5
5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is by the law, The man who doth these things shall live by them.
Galatians 3:12-13
Galatians 3:21-22
21 Is the Law, then, opposed to the promises of God? Not at all! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come from the Law.
22 But the scripture has declared all to be prisoners of sin, so that the promise, given on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

10 Then the king commanded Ebed-melech the Ethiopian saying,—Take with thee from hence thirty men, and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon before he die.
11 So Ebed-melech took the men with him and went to the palace, underneath the storeroom. He took worn out rags and worn out clothes from there, and using ropes he lowered them down to Jeremiah in the cistern.
12 Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, Put now these rags and worn-out clothes under your armpits under the cords. Jeremiah did so.

Hebrews 2:9-15
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.
10 In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting for God, for whom and through whom all things exist, to make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through suffering.
11 For he who makes holy and they who are made holy are all of one. For this cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers,
12 and say, "I will tell your name to my brothers, In the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise";
13 And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Here am I, and the children God has given me."
14 Therefore, since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil,

1 Now a man named Lazarus was ill. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha—
2 The Mary whose brother Lazarus was ill, was the Mary who put perfumed oil on the Lord and made his feet dry with her hair.

1 Corinthians 7:32-40
32 I want you to be free from concern. The unmarried man is concerned about the work of the Lord, how he can please the Lord.
33 But the married man is concerned about the affairs of this world, how he can please his wife,
34 and his interests are divided. The unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the work of the Lord, how she can be holy in both body and spirit. But the married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world, how she can please her husband.
35 I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but in order to promote proper decorum and undivided devotion to the Lord.
36 If a man thinks he is not behaving properly toward his virgin, and if his passion is so strong that he feels he ought to marry her, let him do what he wants; he isn't sinning. Let them get married.
37 But the man who is firmly established in his heart and under no constraint, with control over his will and resolve in his heart not to marry the virgin, he will do well.
38 So then, he who marries the virgin does well, but he who does not marry her does even better.
39 A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, as long as he belongs to the Lord.
40 But in my judgment she is happier if she remains as she is; and I think that I also have the Spirit of God.

1 And Jonas was exceedingly troubled, and was angry:

4 And the Lord said, Have you any right to be angry?

11 ⌊Increasing words only multiplies futility⌋, how does that profit anyone?
Matthew 6:25-34
25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
26 Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his lifespan?
28 And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin.
29 But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was arrayed like one of these.
30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
32 For the pagans pursue all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you as well.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.

Colossians 2:10-19
10 And you have been made complete in Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
11 In Him you were also circumcised by the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, not with a circumcision done by hands but with the circumcision of the Christ,
12 And having been buried with Him in baptism, you were raised with Him through your faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead.
13 When you were dead in your trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our trespasses,
14 having canceled the debt ascribed to us in the decrees that stood against us. He took it away, nailing it to the cross!
15 And having disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
16 Therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a festival, a New Moon, or a Sabbath.
