Matthew 14:15-21

Then He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 Now those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

35 By this time it was late in the day, and his disciples came to him and said, "This is an uninhabited place and the hour is already late. 36 Send them away, so they can go to the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves something to eat." 37 But he answered them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give it to them to eat?" 38 "How many loaves have you?" he answered. "Go and see." When they had found out, they said, "Five, and two fishes." 39 Then Jesus directed them to have the people sit in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41 And taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke the loaves and gave them to His disciples to serve the people; He also divided the two fish among them all. 42 They all ate and were satisfied, 43 and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. 44 (The number of men who ate the loaves was five thousand.)

John 6:1

1 After this, Jesus crossed to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias).

John 6:5-15

5 When Jesus looked up and saw a large crowd coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where can we buy bread for these people to eat?” 6 Now He said this to test Philip, for He [already] knew what He was going to do. 7 Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii would not buy enough bread for each one of them to have a little." 8 Another of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him, 9 Here is a boy who has five barley loaves, and two small fishes; but what are they among so many? 10 Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was plenty of grass in the place; so the men sat down, about five thousand in number. 11 Then Jesus took the loaves and the fish, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. 12 When they had plenty, He said to His disciples, "Pick up the pieces that are left, that nothing be wasted." 13 So they collected them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. 14 When the people saw the sign that Jesus did, they said, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world." 15 Then Jesus, realizing that they were about to come and make Him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by Himself.
