²⁹ When He approached Bethphage and Bethany by the hill called the Mount of Olives, He sent on two of His disciples, and

⁴ His feet will stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. Then the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a very large valley, with half of the mountain moving toward the north and half toward the south.

¹ As they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent out two disciples. ² said to them, "Go into the village ahead of you. At once you will find a donkey tied up and a colt with it. Untie them, and bring them to me. ³ If anyone questions you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.” ⁴ This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: ⁵ Say to the daughter of Zion, "Look, your King comes to you, humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey." ⁶ The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. ⁷ They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. ⁸ And a very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. ⁹ The crowds that went before him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" ¹⁰ When Jesus had entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” ¹¹ The crowds replied, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

¹⁷ Then He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where He spent the night.

¹ As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of His disciples ² and said to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and as soon as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it to Me. ³ If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing this?,' say, 'The Lord needs it,' and he will send it back here at once." ⁴ So they went and found the colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. They untied it, ⁵ some men standing there asked them, "What are you doing untying that colt?" ⁶ They answered as Jesus had told them to, and they let them go. ⁷ And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, and he sat on it. ⁸ Many people spread their coats on the road, while others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields. ⁹ Those who went in front, and those who followed, shouted, "Hosanna. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. ¹⁰ Blessed, is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest! ¹¹ Then Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, He went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

³⁷ When he had almost reached the place where the road led down the Mount of Olives, every one of the many disciples began in their joy to praise God loudly for all the miracles that they had seen:

³⁷ Every day Jesus taught at the temple, but every evening He went out to spend the night on the Mount of Olives.

³⁹ Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed Him.

⁵⁰ When Jesus had led them out as far as Bethany, He lifted up His hands and blessed them.

¹² The next day the great crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. ¹³ They took palm branches and went out to meet Him, shouting: “Hosanna!” “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the King of Israel!” ¹⁴ Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written, ¹⁵ "Do not be afraid, Daughter of Zion! See, your king is coming mounted on an ass's colt!" ¹⁶ His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him.

¹² Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, which is near Jerusalem, only half a mile away.
