The commander of his army was Sisera, and he was living in Harosheth Haggoyim. ³ Jabin had nine hundred iron chariots, and he ruled the people of Israel with cruelty and violence for twenty years. The people of Israel cried out to the LORD for help. ⁴ Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, judged Israel at that time. ⁵ She lived under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites came up to her for judgment. ⁶ She sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh Naphtali and said to him, Hasn't the LORD, the God of Israel, commanded 'Go to Mount Tabor and take with you ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and Zebulun? ⁷ I will draw out Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army, with his chariots and troops, to the wadi of Kishon, and I will give him into your hand.'" ⁸ Barak said to her, "If you go with me, I will go; but if you do not go with me, I will not go." ⁹ And she said, I will surely go with you. But the journey that you take shall not be for your honor, for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh. ¹⁰ Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali together to Kedesh. Ten thousand men followed him; and Deborah went up with him. ¹¹ Now Heber the Kenite had separated himself from the Kenites, even from the children of Hobab, Moses' brother-in-law, and had pitched his tent as far as the oak in Zaanannim, which is by Kedesh. ¹² And they told Sisera that Barak, son of Abinoam, had gone up to Mount Tabor. ¹³ Sisera gathered together all his nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the nations to the Kishon River. ¹⁴ Then Deborah said to Barak, Up! for today the Lord has given Sisera into your hands: has not the Lord gone out before you? So Barak went down from Mount Tabor and ten thousand men after him. ¹⁵ the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army with the sword before Barak, and Sisera got down from his chariot and fled away on foot. ¹⁶ But Barak pursued after the chariots and army as far as Harosheth Haggoyim, and all of Sisera's army fell to the edge of the sword; no one was left. ¹⁷ Sisera fled on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, because there was peace between Jabin king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. ¹⁸ And Jael went out to Sisera, and said to him, Come in, my lord, come in to me without fear. So he went into her tent, and she put a cover over him. ¹⁹ He said to her, Please give me a little water to drink for I am thirsty. She opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him. ²⁰ He told her, "Stand in the doorway of the tent, and if anyone comes and asks 'Is anybody here?' say 'No'." ²¹ Then Jael Heber's wife picked up a tent peg and a hammer and went to him while he was fast asleep and drove the peg into his temple and it went down into the ground. He was fast asleep and weary. So he died. ²² behold Barak came in pursuit of Sisara. And Jael went out to meet him, and said to him, Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest. So he went in with her, and behold Sisara lay dead with the pin in his temples. ²³ On that day God subdued Jabin king of Canaan before the Israelites. ²⁴ The hand of the Israelites prevailed more and more against Jabin the king of Canaan until they had destroyed him.

²³ And if over these things you should not be corrected, but should go to me sideways, ²⁴ I also will walk contrary to you, and will strike you seven times for your sins. ²⁵ I will bring the sword on you avenging the vengeance of the covenant. When you will be gathered into your cities then I will send the plague into your midst, and you will be given into the hand of the enemy.

¹¹ The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and they served the Baals.

¹⁹ When the judge was dead they returned and corrupted themselves more than their fathers. They followed other gods to serve them, and to bow down to them. They did not give up their evil practices and stubborn ways. ²⁰ And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and said, Because this nation has forsaken My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not listened to My voice,

¹² The people of Israel sinned against the LORD again. Because of this the LORD made King Eglon of Moab stronger than Israel.

¹ The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and the LORD gave them into the hand of the Midianites for seven years.

⁶ The people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baals and Ashtaroth, the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites and the gods of the Philistines; they forsook the LORD and didn't serve Him.

²³ You made their children numerous like the stars of the heavens and brought them to the land that you told their ancestors to enter in order to take possession. ²⁴ So the children went in and took possession of the land. You subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites; you gave them into their hand, and their kings and the nations of the land to do with them according to their pleasure. ²⁵ They conquered fortified cities and fertile ground, possessing houses filled with all kinds of good things, wells already dug, with vineyards, olive orchards, and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate, were satiated, and were well nourished, delighting themselves in your great goodness. ²⁶ "Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against you, and cast your law behind their back, and killed your prophets that testified against them to turn them again to you, and they committed awful blasphemies. ²⁷ So you delivered them into the control of their enemies, who oppressed them. But when they were oppressed, they cried out to you, and you heard from heaven. In your great compassion you gave them deliverers who rescued them from the control of their enemies. ²⁸ But after they had rest, they again did evil before you. Therefore you left them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them. Yet when they returned and cried to you, you heard from heaven and many times you delivered them according to your mercies, ²⁹ You admonished them to return to your law, but they acted arrogantly, and would not listen to your commands. They sinned against your regulations, which if anyone obeys, he will live by them. They turned away, being stubborn and stiff-necked, and they did not listen. ³⁰ You were patient with them for many years, warning them by your Spirit through your prophets. But they would not listen, so you turned them over to the control of people in other lands.

⁴³ Many times He delivered them, but they rebelled in their counsel and sank in their iniquities. ⁴⁴ Yet he looked upon their distress when he heard their cry. ⁴⁵ he remembered his covenant and according to the multitude of his mercies;

³ O LORD, are not Your eyes for the truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain. You consumed them, yet they refused to take correction. They made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to return.

¹ When Jabin king of Hazor heard of it, he sent to Jobab king of Madon, to the king of Shimron, to the king of Achshaph,

¹⁰ Joshua then turned back, and captured Hazor. He killed the king with the sword, for Hazor formerly was the head of all these kingdoms. ¹¹ And they struck every person in it by the mouth of the sword. He destroyed them, he did not leave anyone breathing; and he burned Hazor with fire.

³⁶ Adamah, Ramah, Hazor,

¹⁴ Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of raiders who plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies. ¹⁵ Wherever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for harm, as the LORD had spoken, and as the LORD had sworn to them: and they were in great distress.

¹³ Sisera gathered together all his nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the nations to the Kishon River.

¹⁶ But Barak pursued after the chariots and army as far as Harosheth Haggoyim, and all of Sisera's army fell to the edge of the sword; no one was left.

⁷ In his burning anger against Israel, he sold them into domination by the Philistines and the Ammonites,

⁹ But they forgot the LORD their God, so he sold them into the hand of Sisera, commander of the hosts of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

⁹ Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon

¹ Thus said the LORD, Where this writing of cutting off of your mother which I sent her away? or which of my creditors whom I sold you to him? Behold, in your iniquities ye sold yourselves, and in your transgressions your mother was sent away.

²⁵ And as he was not able to pay, his master ordered that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made.

²⁹ and you will grope at noonday, as the blind man gropes in darkness. And you will not prosper in your ways. And you will only be oppressed and robbed always and there will be none to save you.

³³ A people whom you don't know will devour what your land and labor produces. You'll be only oppressed and discouraged continually

⁴⁷ "Because you didn't serve the LORD your God joyfully and wholeheartedly, despite the abundance of everything you have, ⁴⁸ therefore you will serve your enemies whom Yahweh sends against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in lack of all things. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.

¹⁶ And the children of Joseph said, The hill-country is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites living in the valley have iron war-carriages, those in Beth-shean and its towns as well as those in the valley of Jezreel.

¹⁹ And the LORD was with Judah, and he took possession of the hill country, but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the plain because they had chariots of iron.

⁹ And when the sons of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the sons of Israel, Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, who saved them.

¹⁵ And the Israelites cried out to the LORD, and the LORD raised up for them a deliverer, Ehud son of Gera, a Benjaminite and a left-handed man. And the Israelites sent a tribute to Eglon king of Moab through him.

⁸ When they chose new gods, the war was at the gates. Was there a shield or spear to be seen among forty thousand in Israel?

¹⁶ When they put away their foreign gods and served the LORD, he brought Israel's misery to an end.

⁸ The Israelites said to Samuel, "Don't stop crying out to the LORD our God for us that he may deliver us from the hand of the Philistines."

¹⁵ Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me."

³⁴ When he slew them, they sought him, and turned them early, and inquired after God.

⁴² Their enemies oppressed them and made them subject to their power.

²⁷ saying to a tree, You are my father; and to a stone, You gave me birth. For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face; but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise and save us! ²⁸ "Where are the gods that you made for yourselves? Let them come and rescue you when you have trouble. You have as many gods as you have cities, Judah!

²⁰ Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took a tambourine in her hand and went out with all the women behind her with tambourines and dancing.

¹⁴ So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quart

¹⁴ Remember, O God, Tobiah and Sanballat, according to these their deeds, and the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets who tried to alarm me.

²⁸ “It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions. ²⁹ And also on the servants and on the handmaids I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

⁴ "I brought you out of the land of Egypt. I redeemed you out of the house of bondage. I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

³⁶ And there was a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel of the tribe of Asher (she was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,

⁵ And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, for it is just as if her head were shaved.

²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

⁸ And Deborah Rebekah's nurse died, and she was buried below Beth-el under the oak; and the name of it was called Allon- bacuth.

¹³ The next day Moses sat down to judge the people, and the people stood around Moses from morning until evening.

¹⁶ When they have a matter, they come to me, and I judge between one and another, and I make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.

¹⁹ "Listen to the advice I give you. May God be with you! You must be the people's representative to God and bring their disagreements to him.

²⁶ And they judged the people at all times; any difficult cause they brought unto Moses, but every small cause they judged themselves.

⁸ "If a case is too difficult for you to decide with respect to bloodshed, civil claims, assault and battery, or other matters of dispute within your courts, bring it to the place that the LORD your God will choose. ⁹ You shall come to the priests who are Levites and to the judge who shall be in those days. You shall inquire, and they shall give you the verdict. ¹⁰ carry out the verdict that was declared to you at the place that the LORD will choose. Carefully observe all of their instructions to you ¹¹ "Act according to the verdict and the terms they tell you. Do not turn away from the word they declare to you. ¹² The man who does presumptuously in not listening to the priest who stands to minister there before the LORD your God, or to the judge, that man shall die, and you must put away the evil from Israel.

² It went out from Bethel to Luz, and passed along to the border of the Archites to Ataroth;

¹ There was a certain man from Ramathaim Zophim, from the hill country of Ephraim, whose name was Elkanah the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.

¹⁹ They rose up in the morning early, and worshiped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.

¹⁶ The five rulers of the Philistines saw it and returned to Ekron that same day. ¹⁷ These are the gold tumors that the Philistines returned as a guilt offering to the LORD: one for Ashdod, one for Gaza, one for Ashkelon, one for Gath, and one for Ekron.

¹ Now Samuel died, and all Israel assembled and mourned for him. They buried him at his house at Ramah. Then David got up and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

² And Absalom rose up early and stood beside the way of the gate. And it was so, if any man had a suit to come before the king for judgment, then Absalom called to him and said, What city are you from? And he said, Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel. ³ Absalom said to him, "Look, your matters are good and right; but there is no man deputized by the king to hear you." ⁴ And Absalom would say, Oh, that I were made judge in the land, that everyone who has any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice! ⁵ The man would approach Absalom and bow down before him. Then Absalom would reach out and hug and kiss him. ⁶ And Absalom acted this way to all Israel who came in to the king for judgment. And Absalom stole the heart of the men of Israel.

¹⁵ Thus says the LORD: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.

⁹ Haven't I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

³² And the sixth lot came out for Nephthaleim,

³⁷ Kedesh, Edrei, En Hazor,

³² From the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee, the city of refuge for the killer, and its pasturelands, Hammoth Dor and its pasturelands, and Kartan and its pasturelands; three cities.

¹⁰ Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali together to Kedesh. Ten thousand men followed him; and Deborah went up with him.

¹ In that day Debbora and Barac, son of Abinoem, sung, and said:

¹⁴ Some came from Ephraim who had been harassed by Amalek, followed by Benjamin with your people. Some commanders came from Machir, along with some from Zebulun who carry a badge of office. ¹⁵ And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart. ¹⁶ Why did you sit among the sheepfolds, to hear the whistling for the flocks? At the watercourses of Reuben there was much searching of heart. ¹⁷ Gil’ad abode beyond the Jordan; and Dan—why would he tarry in ships? Asher remained on the seashore, and abode near his bays. ¹⁸ The people of Zabulon jeoparded their lives to death; And Nephthaleim came to the high places of the field.

¹⁸ Afterwards, he asked Zebah and Zalmunna, "What were the men like whom you killed at Tabor?" They answered, "Like you, each one like the son of a king…"

³ »You will go from there until you find the oak tree of Tabor. You will see three men going up to God to Bethel. One will have three young goats and another three cakes of bread and another a skin full of wine:

⁶ Arise, LORD, in your anger. Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries. Awake, my God; you have appointed judgment.

¹² You have created the north and the south. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name.

² Raise a signal on a bare hill, lift up your voice to them; wave the hand and may they enter the gateways of the noblemen. ³ I have commanded My holy ones; I have also called My warriors for My anger, those who rejoice in My highness. ⁴ A sound, a noise is on the mountains, the likeness of many people! A sound of the roar of the kingdoms, of nations gathering! the LORD Almighty is mustering an army for battle. ⁵ They come from a distant land, from the end of the heavens, the LORD and the weapons of His wrath, to destroy all the land.

¹⁸ As surely as I live," declares the king, whose name is the LORD of the Heavenly Armies. Indeed, one will come like Tabor among the mountains and like Carmel by the sea.

¹ "Hear this, O you priests and pay attention, O house of Israel. Give ear (listen)! O house of the king the judgment is about you. You have been a snare at Mizpah and a net spread upon Tabor.

⁴⁷ For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

³² And what more shall I say? Time will not allow me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets,

⁴ And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue you. And I will be honored through Pharaoh, and through all his armies. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD. And they did so.

¹³ but not if it is unintentional, but God allows it to happen; then I will appoint you a place where he shall flee.

⁷ Then you shall rise up from the ambush, and seize the city: for the LORD your God will deliver it into your hand.

⁸ And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid of them, for I have given them into your hand; no one will withstand you.

⁶ And the LORD said to Joshua, Do not fear before them, for about this time tomorrow I will give all of them up wounded before Israel. You shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

²⁰ For it was the LORD that hardened their hearts, to meet Israel in war in order to utterly destroy them without mercy, that they would destroy them just as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹⁴ Then Deborah said to Barak, Up! for today the Lord has given Sisera into your hands: has not the Lord gone out before you? So Barak went down from Mount Tabor and ten thousand men after him.

²¹ The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. Tread down, O my soul, with strength.

¹⁰ Look, today your eyes have seen how the LORD had delivered you into my hand in the cave. Some urged me to kill you, but I spared you; I said, I will not lift up my hand against my lord, for he is the LORD's anointed.

¹⁸ You have explained how you treated me well, in that the LORD delivered me into your hand but you didn't kill me.

⁴⁰ Then Elijah said to them, "Seize the prophets of Baal; don't let any man of them escape!" So they seized them, and Elijah brought them down to the wadi of Kishon and killed them there.

⁹ Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon ¹⁰ who perished at Endor, and became as the dung of the earth.

¹⁰ " 'Thus says the Sovereign LORD: "And then on that day, things will come up on your mind, and you will devise evil plans. ¹¹ ""You will say: "I will go up against the land of unwalled villages. I will go against those who are securely at rest. They live without walls and have no bars or gates." ¹² to loot loot, and to plunder plunder, ⌊to assail⌋ inhabited ruins and a people gathered together from various peoples and who are acquiring livestock and goods and dwelling at the center of the world. ¹³ Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all its villages, shall say unto you, Have you come to take plunder? have you gathered your company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil? ¹⁴ “Therefore, son of man, prophesy, and tell Gog, 'The Sovereign LORD says: “In that day when my people Israel dwells securely, will you not know it? ¹⁵ "'You will come from your place out of the remote parts of the north, you and many nations with you, all of them riding on horses, a great assembly and a mighty army. ¹⁶ and you will advance against my people Israel like a cloud covering the land; it will be in the last days, and I will bring you against my land, so that the nations know me, when I show myself holy through you before their eyes, O Gog!" '

¹¹ Hurry and come, all the nations, from all around, and gather yourselves there. Bring down your mighty warriors, O LORD! ¹² Let the nations, be roused, and come up, into the Vale of Jehoshaphat,—for, there, will I sit to judge all the nations, on every side. ¹³ (4:13) Put forth the sickle; for the harvest is ripe: come, tread down the grapes; for the press is full; the vats overflow; for great is their wickedness. ¹⁴ Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision. For the day of the LORD is near, in the valley of decision.

¹⁰ Moses said to the LORD, “O Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.” ¹¹ the LORD said to him: "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD? ¹² Now go and I - I am with your mouth and direct you what to word. ¹³ Moses said, “Oh, Lord, please send someone else.” ¹⁴ the LORD's anger burned against Moses, and he said, “What about Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Also, behold, he is coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.

³⁰ But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me!" ³¹ Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and took hold of Peter. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”

²⁴ "Most blessed of women is Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite; most blessed is she of women among tent dwellers. ²⁵ He asked for water, and she gave milk; in a drinking bowl for nobles, she brought curds. ²⁶ She reached out her hand to the peg, and her right hand for the workman's hammer; and she struck Sisera, crushed his head, and she shattered and pierced his temple. ²⁷ At her feet he sunk, he fell, he lay; at her feet he sunk, he fell; where he sunk, there he fell down dead.

⁵⁴ whereupon he cried hastily to the young man who carried his armour, and said to him, Draw my sword, and kill me, that they may not say, A woman killed him. So his servant run him through, and he died.

³⁰ Therefore the LORD the God of Israel says, 'I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before Me forever'. But now the LORD says, 'Far be it from Me. Those who honour Me I will honour, and those who despise Me shall be despised.

²¹ The matter is not so. But a man of the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has lifted up his hand against the king, even against David. Deliver him only, and I will depart from the city." The woman said to Joab, "Look, his head shall be thrown to you over the wall." ²² Then the woman went to all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it out to Joab. And he blew the trumpet and they were dispersed from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.

¹⁸ And they stood against King Uzziah and said to him, "It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but it is for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have acted unfaithfully. There will be no honor for you from the LORD God."

⁸ All these officials of yours will come down to me, prostrate themselves to me, and say, 'Get out, you and all the people following you!' After that I'll go out." Then Moses angrily left Pharaoh.

⁶ She sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh Naphtali and said to him, Hasn't the LORD, the God of Israel, commanded 'Go to Mount Tabor and take with you ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and Zebulun?

¹⁵ And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.

¹⁸ The people of Zabulon jeoparded their lives to death; And Nephthaleim came to the high places of the field.

²⁷ Let this gift which your servant has brought to my lord be given to the young men who follow my lord.

¹¹ The king of Israel answered, Tell him, 'Don't let him who puts on his armour brag like he who takes it off'.

¹⁸ When they returned to their father Reuel, he asked, "Why have you returned so quickly today?

¹ ¶ Now as Moses shepherded the sheep of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, he led the flock to the backside of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

¹ Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father-in-law, heard all that God had done for Moses and for his people Israel, and how the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt.

²⁹ Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, We are journeying to the place of which the LORD said, 'I will give it to you'. Come with us, and we will treat you well; for the LORD has spoken good concerning Israel.

²¹ He looked at the Kenite, and took up his parable and said, Your dwelling place is strong, your nest is set in the rock.

³³ Their border was from Heleph, from the oak in Zaanannim, Adami-nekeb, and Jabneel, to Lakkum. It ended at the Jordan.

¹⁶ And the sons of the Kenite, father-in-law of Moses, went up from the city of palm-trees with the sons of Judah to the desert of Judah, which is in the south of Arad; and he went up and dwelt with the people:

¹² It turned from Sarid eastward toward the sunrise to the border of Chisloth Tabor. It went out to Daberath, and went up to Japhia.

³⁴ And turning west to Aznoth-tabor, the limit goes out from there to Hukkok, stretching to Zebulun on the south, and Asher on the west, and Judah at Jordan on the east.

² So the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, and he was living in Harosheth Haggoyim. ³ Jabin had nine hundred iron chariots, and he ruled the people of Israel with cruelty and violence for twenty years. The people of Israel cried out to the LORD for help.

⁷ I will draw out Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army, with his chariots and troops, to the wadi of Kishon, and I will give him into your hand.'"

¹⁴ Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, "Get up. Get out of this place, for the LORD will destroy the city." But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.

⁴ And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said to his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when you do overtake them, say to them, Why have you rewarded evil for good?

³ You should know today that the LORD your God is the one crossing ahead of you as a devouring fire; he will destroy them, and he will subdue them before you; so you will dispossess them, and you will destroy them quickly, just as the LORD promised you.

¹³ Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow. For thus says LORD, the God of Israel, There is what has been set apart in the midst of thee, O Israel. Thou cannot stand before thine enemies until ye take aw

²⁸ He said to her, Get up, and let us be going! but there was no answer. Then he put her up on the donkey and set off for home.

²⁶ They arose early, at daybreak, and Samuel called to Saul on the housetop, Get up, that I may send you away. Saul arose, and they went outside together.

²⁴ When you hear the sound of marching coming from the tops of the balsam trees, then be sure to act quickly, since the LORD will have gone out ahead of you to cut down the Philistine army.

⁷ God, when you went out before your people, when you marched through the wilderness... Selah. ⁸ The earth shook, and the heavens dropped before God, this Sinai before God, the God of Israel.

¹² You will not leave in haste or go in panic. For the LORD will go before you. The God of Israel will be your rear guard.

¹³ He who breaks open the way goes up before them. They break through the gate, and go out. And their king passes on before them, with the LORD at their head.

¹⁰ the LORD threw them into confusion before Israel. They were killed in a great battle at Gibeon. They were chased along the road that goes up to Beth-horon. They were slaughtered all the way to Azekah, and Makkedah.

²⁰ From heaven the stars fought; from their courses they fought against Sisera. ²¹ The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. Tread down, O my soul, with strength.

⁶ The LORD had made the Assyrian army hear the sounds of chariots, horses, and a large army, so they told one another, "Look! The king of Israel has hired the kings of the Hittites and the Egyptians to come attack us!"

¹⁵ and the men of Judah gave a shout. And as the men of Judah shouted, God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. ¹⁶ And the Israelites fled before Juda, and the Lord delivered them into their hands, ¹⁷ Abijah and his men defeated them decisively. Five hundred thousand of the best men of Israel were killed.

⁷ And you shall pursue your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. ⁸ And five of you will chase a hundred and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand and your enemies will fall before you by the sword.

¹⁹ but do not stay. Pursue your enemies, and attack them from the rear. Do not allow them to enter into their cities; for the LORD your God has delivered them into your hand." ²⁰ When Joshua and the children of Israel finished slaying them those who escaped entered the fortified cities.

⁸ and Yah Veh gives them into the hand of Yisra El who smites them and pursues them to great Sidon and to Misrephoth Mayim and to the valley of Mispeh from the rising; they smite them until no survivors survive:

³⁵ Let the sinners perish from the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD!

¹⁷ who brings out chariot and horse, army and mighty one. Together they lie down; they cannot rise. They are extinguished, quenched like a wick.

¹² All who sin apart from the Law will also perish apart from the Law, and all who sin under the Law will be judged by the Law. ¹³ For judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

⁶ "In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were deserted. Travelers used the back roads.

²⁴ "Most blessed of women is Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite; most blessed is she of women among tent dwellers.

¹⁹ "He leads priests away stripped and overthrows men long established. ²⁰ "He silences the lips of trusted advisers and takes away the discernment of elders. ²¹ "He pours out contempt upon nobles and disarms the mighty.

⁷ "The vigor of his step is weakened. His own schemes will bring his downfall. ⁸ "His feet cast him into a net and he wanders into its mesh. ⁹ "A trap seizes him by the heel and a snare holds him fast. ¹⁰ "A noose is hidden for him on the ground and a trap lies in his path. ¹¹ "Terrors startle him on every side and chase him at his heels. ¹² "Calamity hungers for him and disaster catch him when he falls.

¹¹ "Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at every proud man and bring him low! ¹² "Look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand.

³⁵ I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading like a green tree in its native soil: ³⁶ yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not; and I looked for him, but he could not be found.

²² Let their table before them become a snare, may it become a retribution and a trap.

⁴⁰ he pours contempt on princes and causes them to wander in a trackless waste.

²³ A man's pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains honor.

²¹ "There is no peace," says my God, "for the wicked."

¹⁹ It will be as if a man fled from a lion and a bear met him; or he went into the house and leaned his hand against the wall and a snake bit him. ²⁰ Will not the Day of the LORD be darkness, and not light pitch black at that, without a ray of sunshine?"

¹⁹ Then Elisha told the army, "This isn't the way, and this isn't the city! Follow me, and I'll bring you to the man you're seeking. Then he led them to Samaria.

⁴³ Behold! I stand at the well of water, and when the virgin comes out to draw water, and I say to her, Please let me drink a little water from your pitcher,

²⁵ He asked for water, and she gave milk; in a drinking bowl for nobles, she brought curds. ²⁶ She reached out her hand to the peg, and her right hand for the workman's hammer; and she struck Sisera, crushed his head, and she shattered and pierced his temple.

¹⁰ So he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her, and said, “Please get me a little water in a jar, that I may drink.”

¹⁷ "The poor and needy search for water, but there is none! Their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

⁷ When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.”

³ So the king of Jericho sent for Rahab and ordered her, "Bring out the men who came to visit you and lodged in your house, because they've come to scout out the entire land." ⁴ But the woman took the two men and hid them. And she said, "Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from. ⁵ At dusk, when it was time to close the city gates, the men left. I don't know where the men went. Go after them quickly, and you might overtake them."

²⁰ When the servants of Absalom came to the woman at the house, they said, "Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan?" And she said to them, "They crossed over the brook of water." So they searched but could not find them, so they returned to Jerusalem.

²¹ With his left hand Ehud took the sword from his right side and plunged it into the king's belly.

³¹ After him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who struck six hundred men of the Philistines with an ox goad. He also saved Israel.

¹⁵ He found a fresh jawbone of an ass and struck down a thousand men with it.

⁴³ The Philistine said to David, Am I a dog that you come at me with sticks? The Philistine cursed David by his gods.

⁴⁹ He put his hand into his bag, took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead and he fell on his face to the ground. ⁵⁰ So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him without a sword in his hand.

⁷ Arise, LORD. Save me, my God. For you slap all my enemies in the face. You break the teeth of the wicked.

¹⁹ For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”

²⁷ But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

³ and I will bring back all the people to you. The man whom you seek is as if all returned, so all the people will be in peace.

¹⁰ And even he who is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, will utterly melt, for all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man and those who are with him are valiant men. ¹¹ "My advice is to gather all Israel's troops from Dan to Beersheba. They are as numerous as the sand on the seashore. Lead them into battle yourself. ¹² »Find him and attack him! We will fall on him as dew falls on the ground. Neither he nor any of his men will be left alive. ¹³ Even if he withdraws to a city, all Israel will bring up ropes to that city, and they will drag him away to the valley until there is not even a pebble to be found." ¹⁴ Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, "The advice of Hushai the Arkite is better than the advice of Ahithophel." (Now the LORD had ordained to frustrate the good counsel of Ahithophel in order for the LORD to bring misery upon Absalom). ¹⁵ Hushai told the priests Zadok and Abiathar: »Ahithophel advised Absalom and the leaders of Israel to do one thing. But I advised them to do something else.

¹⁸ He said to them: "Is not the LORD your God with you? And has he not granted you rest on every side? For he has handed the inhabitants of the land over to me, and the land is subject to the LORD and to his people.

²⁴ So the children went in and took possession of the land. You subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites; you gave them into their hand, and their kings and the nations of the land to do with them according to their pleasure.

³⁹ You armed me with strength for battle. You made my opponents bow at my feet.

⁴⁷ He is the God who avenges me, and speaks to people under me.

³ He subdues nations under us, and peoples under our feet.

¹⁴ I would soon subdue their enemies, and turn my hand against their adversaries.

²⁸ And when all things have been subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will be made subject to Him who put all things under Him, so that God may be all in all.

³³ who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and obtained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions,

¹² On that day I will fulfill against Eli all that I have spoken against his household, from beginning to end.
