¹ On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, ² and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. ³ When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to Him, “They have no more wine.” ⁴ “Woman, why does this concern us?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” ⁵ His mother said to the servants, Do whatever he tells you. ⁶ Now six stone water jars had been set there for the Jewish rites of purification. Each could hold from twenty to thirty gallons. ⁷ Jesus said to the attendants, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them to the brim. ⁸ Then he said, "Now draw some out, and take it to the manager of the feast." They did so; ⁹ and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not know where it was from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside ¹⁰ and said, “Everyone serves the fine wine first, and then the cheap wine after the guests are drunk. But you have saved the fine wine until now!” ¹¹ This, the first of the miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee and revealed His glory; and His disciples believed into Him. ¹² After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothers and his disciples; and there they stayed for a few days. ¹³ Then, as the Jewish Passover was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. ¹⁴ In the temple courts He found men selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and money changers seated at their tables. ¹⁵ So He made a whip out of cords and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle. He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. ¹⁶ To those selling doves He said, “Get these out of here! How dare you turn My Father’s house into a marketplace!” ¹⁷ His disciples remembered that it is written, "Zeal for your house will consume me." ¹⁸ Then the Jews asked him, "What sign can you show us as authority for doing these things?" ¹⁹ Jesus answering, said to them, Destroy this temple, and I will rear it again in three days. ²⁰ The Jews said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this sanctuary, and are you going to raise it in three days?" ²¹ (But, by the temple, he meant his body.) ²² After He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this. Then they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken. ²³ While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the signs He was doing and believed in His name. ²⁴ But Jesus did not entrust Himself to them, for He knew all men. ²⁵ He did not need any testimony about man, for He knew what was in a man.

²⁷ And God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them. ²⁸ God blessed them and said to them: "Be fruitful and increase in number. Fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and dominate the birds of the air. Have dominion over every living creature that moves on the ground."

¹⁸ the LORD God said: "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." ¹⁹ Then the LORD God formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to let him name them. Whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. ²⁰ So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But no suitable helper was found for Adam. ²¹ the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. ²² Then the LORD made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man. He brought her to the man. ²³ The man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh! She will be called 'woman', because she was taken out of Man. ²⁴ This is the reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife. They will become one flesh. ²⁵ The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

¹ A song of ascents. Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways. ² for you eat the labor of your palms; blithed - and good with you ³ Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house. Your children will be like olive shoots about your table. ⁴ Look, thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD.

²² Whoever finds a wife finds what is good, and receives favor from the LORD.

¹⁴ House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers; but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

¹⁰ A woman of valour who can find? for her price is far above rubies. ¹¹ Her husband safely trusts in her; as a result, he lacks nothing of value. ¹² She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

⁴⁶ While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him.

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

³⁵ The next day John was there again with two of his disciples.

⁴³ The next day Jesus decided to set out for Galilee. Finding Philip, He told him, “Follow Me.”

⁴⁶ So once again He came to Cana in Galilee, where He had turned the water into wine. And there was a royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum.

² Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.

³⁰ for we are members of his body. ³¹ “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” ³² This mystery is profound, but I am speaking about Christ and the church. ³³ Nevertheless, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

¹ Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will abandon the faith to follow deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, ² through the pretensions of liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron, ³ They forbid people to get married and require them to avoid [eating] certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and [fully] know the truth.

⁴ Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.

⁴⁰ He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives the One who sent Me. ⁴¹ Every one who receives a prophet, because he is a prophet, will receive a prophet's reward, and every one who receives a righteous man, because he is a righteous man, will receive a righteous man's reward. ⁴² And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is My disciple, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.”

¹⁹ He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear His voice in the streets.

⁴⁰ And the King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’

⁴⁵ Then the King will answer, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me.’

³⁴ The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' ³⁵ But wisdom is judged to be right by all her children. ³⁶ Then one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to eat with him, and He entered the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. ³⁷ There was a woman who was a notorious sinner in that city. When she learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's home, she took an alabaster jar of perfume ³⁸ and came and stood behind him at his feet, weeping, and began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with her hair, and kissed them, and put the perfume on them.

⁴⁰ Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John said and followed Jesus. ⁴¹ The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and say to him, "We have found the Messiah!" (which is translated "Christ"). ⁴² Andrew brought him to Jesus, who looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which is translated as Peter). ⁴³ The next day Jesus decided to set out for Galilee. Finding Philip, He told him, “Follow Me.” ⁴⁴ Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. ⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law, the One the prophets foretold—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” ⁴⁶ “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip. ⁴⁷ When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, He said of him, “Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit.” ⁴⁸ Nathanael said to him, Whence do you know me? Jesus answered, I saw you when you were under the fig tree, before Philip called you. ⁴⁹ Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.

³⁹ A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, as long as he belongs to the Lord.

³¹ So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.

¹⁷ And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

²⁰ Lo, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and sup with him, and he with me.

¹⁵ and wine that gladdens the heart of man and oil to make his face to shine and bread that strengthens man's heart.

¹⁹ A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh life merry; but money answereth everything.

¹¹ In the streets they cry out for wine. Joy turns to gloom and rejoicing is banished from the earth.

²⁸ This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

³ So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one You love is sick.”

⁶ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

⁹ He said of his father, and of his mother, 'I have not seen him.' He didn't acknowledge his brothers, nor did he know his own children; for they have observed your word, and keep your covenant.

¹⁰ The king said, "What do we have in common, sons of Zeruiah? If he curses because the LORD has said to him 'Curse David,' who can say, "Why have you done this?"

²² Then David said, "What is it to me or to you, sons of Zeruiah, that you should be an adversary today? Should anyone be put to death in Israel? Do I not know today that I am king over Israel?"

¹ There is a season for everything, and a time for every event under heaven:

²⁹ “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have You come here to torture us before the proper time?”

²⁸ then Jesus answered her, O woman, great is thy faith: as you desire, be it done. and her daughter was healed from that very hour.

⁴⁹ "Why did you look for me?" he said, "Did you not know I had to be at my Father's house?"

⁶ Therefore Jesus says to them, “My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready.

³⁰ Then they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him because his hour had not yet come.

²⁰ He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts, near the treasury. Yet no one seized Him, because His hour had not yet come.

²³ But Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

¹ It was now just before the Passover Feast, and Jesus knew that His hour had come to leave this world and return to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the very end.

²⁶ When Jesus saw His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, here is your son.” ²⁷ Then He said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” So from that hour, this disciple took her into his home.

¹³ They asked her, "Lady, why are you crying?" She told them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I don't know where they have put him."

¹⁵ Jesus asked her, "Dear lady, why are you crying? Who are you looking for?" Thinking he was the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him away."

¹⁶ So from now on we regard no one according to the flesh. Although we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.

⁵ We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you. ⁶ But as for the highly esteemed, whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not show favoritism. For those leaders added nothing to my message.

²² Noah did everything exactly as God commanded him.

¹⁴ She should not eat of anything that comes from the vine, or drink wine or strong drink, or eat anything unclean; she should keep all that I commanded."

⁵ Simon answered, "Master, we have worked hard all night and caught nothing. But if you say so, I'll lower the nets." ⁶ When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to tear.

⁴⁶ "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? ⁴⁷ I will show you what he is like who comes to me, and hears my words, and does them: ⁴⁸ He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid his foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the torrent crashed against that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. ⁴⁹ But the man who merely hears them and does not practice them is like a man who built a house upon the ground without a foundation. The torrent burst upon it, and at once it collapsed, and the wreck of that house was complete."

¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do what I command you.

⁶ “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

⁹ and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him,

⁸ By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

² they saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. ³ (For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, do not eat unless they wash their hands and forearms, holding to the tradition of the elders. ⁴ When they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash themselves. And there are many other traditions which they observe, the washing of cups and pitchers and copper vessels.) ⁵ So the Pharisees and the scribes asked Jesus, "Why don't your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders? Instead, they eat with unclean hands."

²⁵ A dispute arose between John’s disciples and a certain Jew over the issue of ceremonial washing.

²⁶ to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,

² instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.

¹⁰ They consist only in food and drink and special washings—external regulations imposed until the time of reform.

¹⁹ For when Moses had proclaimed every commandment of the Law to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, along with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people,

²² let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

⁶ the LORD sent poisonous snakes among the people. They bit the people, and many of the Israelites died. ⁷ The people came to Moses and said: "We sinned when we criticized the LORD and you. Pray to the LORD so that he will take the snakes away from us. So Moses prayed for the people." ⁸ the LORD said to Moses: "Make a snake and put it on a pole. Anyone who is bitten can look at it and live." ⁹ Moses made a copper snake and put it on a pole. People looked at the copper snake after they were bitten and lived.

³ March around the city, all the soldiers circling the city once. Do this for six days, ⁴ And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of ram's horns in front of the ark. And the seventh day you shall go around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. ⁵ "When you hear a long blast with the ram’s horn, all the people will shout with a great shout. The wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people will go up, every man straight in to the city."

¹³ And Elijah said to her, Have no fear; go and do as you have said, but first make me a little cake of it and come and give it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.

² Elisha said to her, “What should I do for you? Tell me: what do you have in the house?” She said, “Your servant has nothing in the house, except a pot of oil.” ³ Then he said, "Go, borrow containers from of all your neighbors, even empty containers. Do not borrow just a few. ⁴ Then go in and shut the door behind you, taking only your children, and pour oil into all of the pots. As each one is filled, set it aside." ⁵ So she went from him, and she shut the door behind her and her children. They were bringing containers to her, and she kept pouring. ⁶ When the last of the vessels had been filled, she told her son, "Bring me another pot!" But he replied, "There isn't even one pot left." Then the oil stopped flowing.

¹⁰ And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, Go and wash seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh shall return to you, and you shall be cleansed. ¹¹ But Naaman went away angry and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD, his God, and strike his hand over the place and remove the leprosy. ¹² Aren't Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn't I wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. ¹³ And his servants came near and spoke to him and said, My father, if the prophet had told you to do a great thing, would you not have done it? How much rather then, when he says to you, Wash and be clean? ¹⁴ So he went down and plunged himself into the Jordan River seven times, just as the man of God had said, and his flesh rejuvenated like the flesh of a newborn child. And he was clean.

² and said to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and as soon as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it to Me. ³ If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing this?,' say, 'The Lord needs it,' and he will send it back here at once." ⁴ So they went and found the colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. They untied it, ⁵ some men standing there asked them, "What are you doing untying that colt?" ⁶ They answered as Jesus had told them to, and they let them go.

¹² And the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, the day for killing the paschal lamb, his disciples asked him, "Where do you want us to go and make preparation for you to eat the Passover?" ¹³ And he sent two of his disciples and said to them, "Go into the city and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him, ¹⁴ and whichever house he enters, say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is My guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’ ¹⁵ He will show you a large upper room, furnished and ready; make preparations for us there." ¹⁶ The disciples went away into the city and found it was as he had told them. So they prepared the passover, ¹⁷ When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve.

³ When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to Him, “They have no more wine.”

⁵ His mother said to the servants, Do whatever he tells you.

²⁶ Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get up and go south to the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” ²⁷ So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official in charge of the entire treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. He had gone to Jerusalem to worship, ²⁸ and on his return was sitting in his chariot, reading Isaiah the prophet. ²⁹ The Spirit said to Philip, "Approach that chariot and stay near it." ³⁰ So Philip ran up and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. ³¹ "How can I", the eunuch said: "unless someone explains it to me?" He invited Philip to come and sit with him. ³² The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before the shearer is silent, so He did not open His mouth. ³³ In His humiliation He was deprived of justice. Who can recount His descendants? For His life was removed from the earth.” ³⁴ The eunuch asked Philip: "Please tell me of whom is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?" ³⁵ Then Philip began with this very Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. ³⁶ And as they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?"

³⁸ And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. ³⁹ When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him any more, for he went on his way rejoicing. ⁴⁰ But Philip appeared at Azotus and traveled through that region, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he came to Caesarea.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding. ⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

⁶ Furthermore, their love, their hate, and their envy have been long lost. Never again will they have a part in what happens on earth.

⁷ Therefore give everyone what you owe: if you owe taxes, pay taxes; if customs, then customs; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

¹⁰⁰ I have more common sense than the elders, for I observe your precepts.

¹⁷ If anyone desires to do His will, he will know whether My teaching is from God or whether I speak on My own.

³⁴ And portions were taken unto them from before him; but Benjamin's portion was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him.

¹ Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars: ² She has prepared her meat. She has mixed her wine. She has also set her table. ³ She has sent out her maidens. She cries from the highest places of the city: ⁴ "Let whoever is naïve, turn in here." To anyone lacking sense, she says, ⁵ "Come! Eat my food, and drink the wine that I have mixed. ⁶ Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding."

¹⁶ Whoever is gullible, turn in here! - and to whoever lacks heart, she says, ¹⁷ "Stolen waters are sweet, and food eaten in secret is delicious." ¹⁸ But he doesn't know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

¹ I have come into my garden, my sister, [my] bride. I have gathered my myrrh with my spice. I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey. I have drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, O friends. Drink, yea. Drink abundantly, O beloved.

²⁵ But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus received evil things; but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

¹⁶ Never again will they hunger, never again will they thirst, never shall the sun strike them, nor any scorching heat;" ¹⁷ For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

⁹ But if they don't believe even these two signs, and won't listen to you, then take some water out of the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you took from the Nile will turn into blood on the dry ground."

¹⁹ the LORD then spoke to Moses: "Tell Aaron, Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt; its rivers, canals, ponds, and all its reservoirs. They will turn into blood. There will be blood everywhere in Egypt, even in the buckets of wood and stone pitchers." ²⁰ Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded. Aaron raised his staff and struck the Nile in front of Pharaoh and his officials. All the water in the river turned into blood. ²¹ The fish in the Nile died. The river smelled bad. The Egyptians could not drink any water from the river. There was blood everywhere in Egypt.

²⁴ and ye said, 'Behold, the LORD our God hath showed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the fire, and we have seen this day that God may talk with a man and he yet live.

¹⁹ Blessed be to his glorious name forever. May the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen!

³ Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.

⁷ Go, eat your bread with mirth, and drink your wine with a joyful heart; for now God has favorably accepted your works.

⁵ And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all humankind together shall see it, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

² If you will not listen, and if you will not take it to heart to give glory to my name," says the LORD of hosts, "then I will send the curse on you, and I will curse your blessings; moreover I have already cursed them because you are not taking it to heart.

¹⁴ The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

⁵⁰ Jesus said to him, Do you believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree? you shall see greater things than these.

²³ While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the signs He was doing and believed in His name.

² He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs You are doing if God were not with him.”

²³ that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

² And a great multitude followed him, because they saw the miracles which he performed on the sick.

¹⁴ When the people saw the sign that Jesus did, they said, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world."

²⁶ Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I tell you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and had your fill.

³⁰ So they asked Him, “What sign then will You perform, so that we may see it and believe You? What will You do?

¹⁵ and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”

³⁷ Although Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still did not believe in Him.

⁴¹ (Isaiah said this because he saw his glory and spoke of him.)

⁹ Jesus said to him, "Am I with you so long a time and you have not known me, Philip? The one who has seen me has seen the Father! How can you say, 'Show us the Father?' ¹⁰ Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own; rather it is the Father who dwells in me who does the works. ¹¹ Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me—or at least believe on account of the works themselves.

¹³ And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

³⁰ Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book; ³¹ But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and that believing, you may have life in his name.

¹⁸ And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

⁶ For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁷ For our light and temporary affliction is producing for us an eternal glory that far outweighs our troubles.

¹⁰ All who rely on works of the Law are under a curse. For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” ¹¹ And it is clear that no one is justified before God by the Law, because, “The righteous will live by faith.” ¹² The Law, however, is not based on faith; on the contrary, “The one who does these things will live by them.” ¹³ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us. For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”

¹³ I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

¹³ Leaving Nazareth, He went and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,

²³ And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will descend to Hades! For if the miracles that were performed in you had happened in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

⁵⁵ “Is this not the carpenter’s son? Isn’t His mother’s name Mary, and aren’t His brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? ⁵⁶ And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?"

³ Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon? Aren’t His sisters here with us as well?” And they took offense at Him.

¹⁷ and got into a boat and started across the sea for Capernaum. By this time it was dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them;

³ So his brothers said to him, "You ought to leave here and go to Judea, to let your disciples also see the things you are doing. ⁴ For no one who wants to be known publicly acts in secret. Since You are doing these things, show Yourself to the world.” ⁵ For even his own brothers did not believe in him.

¹³ When they arrived, they went to the upper room where they were staying: Peter and John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. ¹⁴ They all continued with one accord in prayer, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

⁵ We have the right to take a believing wife with us like the other apostles, the Lord's brothers, and Cephas, don't we?

¹⁹ But I saw none of the other apostles, only James, the Lord’s brother.

⁶ "You will keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, and all the assembly of the community of Israel will slaughter it at twilight. ⁷ They're to take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat the lamb. ⁸ That very night they're to eat the meat, roasted over the fire, with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. ⁹ Don't eat any of it raw or boiled in water. Instead, roast it over the fire, with its head, legs, and internal organs. ¹⁰ And you must not leave any of it until morning; anything left from it until morning you must burn in the fire. ¹¹ "'This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. You are to eat it hurriedly it's the LORD's Passover. ¹² For on that night I will go through the land of Egypt, sending death on every first male child, of man and of beast, and judging all the gods of Egypt: I am the Lord. ¹³ "The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you live. When I see the blood I will pass over you. No plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. ¹⁴ And this day shall be for a memorial to you; and you shall keep it a feast to the Lord in your generations, with an everlasting observance.

¹⁶ And the fourteenth day of the first month shall be Passover unto the LORD. ¹⁷ On the fifteenth day of this month there is to be a feast; for seven days let your food be unleavened cakes. ¹⁸ In the first day shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no regular work, ¹⁹ but you shall offer an offering made by fire, a burnt offering to Yahweh: two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old. They shall be without defect, ²⁰ And their gift fine flour mingled with oil: three tenths for a bullock, and two tenths for the ram, ye shall do. ²¹ and eight cups for each of the seven lambs. ²² and one male goat for a sin offering, to make atonement for you. ²³ "‘Offer these in addition to the morning burnt offering. ²⁴ In this way, every day for seven days, give the food of the offering made by fire, a sweet smell to the Lord: it is to be offered in addition to the regular burned offering, and its drink offering. ²⁵ "'On the seventh day you must have a holy assembly. You must not do any regular work.

¹ "Observe the month of Abib and celebrate the Passover to the LORD your God. It was in the month of Abib that the LORD your God brought you out of Egypt by night. ² "Sacrifice the Passover to the LORD your God from the flock and the herd, in the place where the LORD chooses to establish his name. ³ "Do not eat leavened bread with it. Eat unleavened bread for seven days. It is the bread of affliction. You should remember all the days of your life the day when you came out of the land of Egypt in haste. ⁴ Let no yeast be seen with you in all your territory seven days. And let none of the flesh that you shall sacrifice in the evening on the first day lodge until morning. ⁵ You may not sacrifice the Passover within any of your gates, which the LORD your God gives you; ⁶ But at the place where your God will choose to establish his name, you shall sacrifice the Passover in the evening at dusk, at the time of day you left Egypt. ⁷ "Cook and eat it in the place the LORD your God chooses. In the morning you are to return to your tents. ⁸ Six days you will eat unleavened bread and on the seventh day will be a solemn assembly to the LORD your God. You will do no work.

¹⁶ Three times in the year all of your males shall appear before the LORD your God at the place that he will choose, at the Feast of Unleavened Bread and at the Feast of Weeks and at the Feast of Booths, and they shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed.

⁴¹ Every year His parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover.

¹ After these things Jesus went up to Jerusalem to [attend] a Jewish festival.

⁴ Now the Jewish Feast of the Passover was near.

⁵⁵ It was the Jewish Passover. Many went out of the country to Jerusalem to purify themselves before the Passover.

²³ "You shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God, at the place where He chooses to establish his name, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, so that you may learn to respect the LORD your God always. ²⁴ If the way is too long for you, so that when the LORD your God shall bless you, you are not able to carry it because the place which the LORD your God shall choose to set His name there is too far from you, ²⁵ "If so, exchange the tenth part of your income for silver. Take the silver with you, and go to the place the LORD your God will choose. ²⁶ Use the silver to buy whatever you want: cattle, sheep, goats, wine, liquor-whatever you choose. Then you and your family will eat and enjoy yourselves there in the presence of the LORD your God.

¹ "Look, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me; and the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, look, he comes." says the LORD of hosts. ² "But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like launderer's soap; ³ "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver. He will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them like gold and silver. Then they will offer to the LORD offerings in righteousness.

¹² Then Jesus went into the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. ¹³ "It is written," he said, "My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of thieves."

¹⁷ And as he taught them, he said, "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations'? But you have made it a den of robbers."

⁴⁵ And he entered into the temple courts and began to drive out those who were selling, ⁴⁶ "It is written," he told them, "my house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of robbers."

⁶ Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts.

⁶ When Jesus said 'I am he,' they drew back and fell to the ground.

⁴ The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

⁵ To them I will give in my house and within my walls a memorial and a name better than of sons and of daughters. I will give them an everlasting name, that will not be cut off. ⁶ »Foreigners have become allied with the LORD, to serve the LORD, to love the name of the LORD, and to worship him. They keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and hold fast to my covenant. ⁷ "I will bring them to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar. My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations." ⁸ The Sovereign Sovereign LORD declares: "He who gathers the exiles of Israel, I will gather still others to them besides those already gathered." ⁹ Come, all you beasts of the field, come and devour, all you beasts of the forest! ¹⁰ Israel's watchmen are blind. They all lack knowledge they are all mute dogs. They cannot bark. They just lie around and dream, they love to sleep. ¹¹ They are dogs with mighty appetites. They never have enough! They are shepherds who lack understanding. They all turn to their own way and each one seeks dishonest (unjust) gain.

¹¹ "Has this house, called by my name, become a den of robbers in your sight? Behold, I, even I, have seen it," declares the LORD.

⁷ A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud. ⁸ Ephraim said, "Surely I have become rich, I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won't find in me any iniquity that is sin."

¹³ "It is written," he said, "My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of thieves."

¹⁷ But Jesus said to them, “My Father is continuing to work and I am working.”

⁴⁹ "I am not possessed by a demon," replied Jesus. "On the contrary I honour my Father, and you dishonour me.

²⁹ My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

¹⁷ Jesus said to her, "Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"

²⁴ For a certain silversmith named Demetrius who makes silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little work to the craftsmen, ²⁵ They gathered together along with similar related workmen, and said: "Sirs, You know we receive a good income from this business. ²⁶ And as you see and hear, not only in Ephesus, but in nearly the whole province of Asia, Paul has persuaded a great number of people to turn away. He says that man-made gods are no gods at all. ²⁷ There is danger not only that our business will fall into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited and her majesty deposed—she who is worshiped by all the province of Asia and the whole world.”

⁵ and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who imagine that godliness is a means of gain.

³ And in their greed they will exploit you with false words; from long ago their condemnation has not been idle, and their destruction has not been asleep.

¹⁴ They have eyes full of adultery, that never cease from sin; they entice unstable souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children! ¹⁵ They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bosor, who loved the wages of wickedness.

⁹ Zeal for your house consumes me, and the mockeries of those who insult you fall on me.

¹³⁹ My zeal wears me out, because my enemies ignore your words.

³⁸ Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from you." ³⁹ He answered them, "A wicked and adulterous generation seeks for a sign. But no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. ⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the huge fish, so the Son of Man shall be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. ⁴¹ The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here. ⁴² The queen of the south will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and now One greater than Solomon is here.

¹ The Pharisees and Sadducees came up and to test him asked him to show them a sign from heaven. ² He replied, "In the evening you say, 'It will be fine weather, for the sky is red;' ³ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but not the signs of the times! ⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.” Then He left them and went away.

²³ When Jesus returned to the temple courts and began to teach, the chief priests and elders of the people came to Him. “By what authority are You doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave You this authority?”

¹¹ Then the Pharisees came and began to argue with Jesus. They tested Him by demanding from Him a sign from heaven.

²⁷ They came again to Jerusalem, and as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to him, ²⁸ “By what authority are You doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave You the authority to do them?” ²⁹ As the crowds were increasing, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.

¹ One day as he was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes, together with the elders, came up to him ² Tell us by what authority thou dost these things? or who it is that gave thee this authority?

²⁵ They asked him, "Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ nor Elijah nor the prophet?"

⁷ They had Peter and John brought in and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?”

²⁸ “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us responsible for this man’s blood.”

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the huge fish, so the Son of Man shall be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

⁶⁰ But they could not find it, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally two came forward ⁶¹ and said, "This fellow said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.'"

⁴⁰ and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”

⁶³ “Sir,” they said, “we remember that while He was alive that deceiver said ‘After three days I will rise again.’

³¹ Then He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and that He must be killed and after three days rise again.

⁵⁸ "We heard him say, 'I will destroy this Temple made by hands and in three days I will build another not made by hands.'

²⁹ Those who passed by heaped abuse on Him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,

¹⁹ Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever he does, the Son also does.

¹⁷ The reason the Father loves Me is that I lay down My life in order to take it up again. ¹⁸ No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from My Father.”

²⁵ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies.

²⁴ But God raised Him from the dead, releasing Him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for Him to be held in its clutches.

³² God has raised this Jesus to life, to which we are all witnesses.

¹⁵ You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses of the fact.

²⁶ When God raised up His servant, He sent Him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

²⁴ But also for us. It shall be credited to those of us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

⁴ We therefore were buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.

¹¹ But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit indwelling in you.

³ For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, ⁴ that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

¹² But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

¹² And having been buried with Him in baptism, you were raised with Him through your faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead.

¹⁸ For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body, but made alive in the spirit,

¹⁶ Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?

¹⁹ Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

¹⁶ What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.”

²⁰ built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. ²¹ in whom the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord; ²² And in Him you too are being built together into a dwelling place for God in His Spirit.

¹⁹ For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him,

⁹ For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity dwells in bodily form.

² and who ministers in the sanctuary and true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man.

⁴ As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by men, but chosen and precious in God’s sight, ⁵ you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ You do not abandon me to the grave or allow your holy one to decay.

⁷ 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.'" ⁸ Then they remembered his words,

⁴⁴ Jesus said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.”

¹¹ This, the first of the miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee and revealed His glory; and His disciples believed into Him.

¹⁷ His disciples remembered that it is written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."

¹⁶ His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him.

²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.

⁴ But I have told you this so that when the time comes you will remember that I told you about them. I did not tell you this in the beginning, because I was still with you."

⁸ Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in. And he saw and believed. ⁹ For they still did not understand from the Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.

¹⁶ Then I remembered what the Lord had said, 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'

²⁰ But he who received the seed on rocky places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; ²¹ But since he has no root, he remains for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away.

¹⁶ Others are like the seeds sown on rocky places. They hear the word and at once receive it with joy. ¹⁷ but since they don't have any roots, they last for only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes along because of the word, they immediately fall away.

¹³ And those upon the rock are those who receive the word with joy when they hear; and these have no root, who believe for a time, and in time of testing fall away.

¹³ Then, as the Jewish Passover was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

³¹ And many of the people believed in him, and said, When the Christ comes, will he do more miraculous signs than this man has done?

³⁰ While he spoke thus, many believed on him. ³¹ So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in him, "If you continue in my word, you are really my disciples.

⁴² Nevertheless, many of the leaders believed in Him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue. ⁴³ For they loved praise from men more than praise from God.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. All that matters is faith, expressed through love.

¹⁶ I pray that out of the riches of His glory, He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, ¹⁷ so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

¹⁹ You believe that God is one. Good for you! Even the demons believe that, and shudder! ²⁰ O foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is worthless?

⁷ But the LORD said to Samuel, Don't look at his appearance or height, because I have rejected him. I do not look at the things man looks at; man looks at the outward appearance but the LORD looks at the heart.

⁹ "And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and a willing mind, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and all thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you forever.

¹⁷ And I know, my God, that You try the heart and are pleased with uprightness; I, in the uprightness of my heart, have offered willingly all these things; and now I have watched with joy Your people who are present here offering willingly to You.

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and incurable; who can know it?

⁴ Knowing their thoughts Jesus said, "Why are you cherishing evil thoughts in your hearts?

¹⁶ Look, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. ¹⁷ Be on your guard against men, for they will turn you over to the courts and will flog you in their synagogues,

⁸ And Jesus knew, in his spirit, that they thus reasoned in themselves; and he said to them: Why reason ye thus in your heart?

⁴² Andrew brought him to Jesus, who looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which is translated as Peter).

⁴⁶ “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip. ⁴⁷ When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, He said of him, “Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit.”

⁴² but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves.

¹⁵ Then Jesus, realizing that they were about to come and make Him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by Himself.

⁶⁴ However, there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray Him.)

³⁰ Now we know that you know everything and do not need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you have really come from God."

¹⁷ He said to him the third time: Simon, son of John, do you love me? Peter was grieved because he asked him a third time: Do you love me? And he said to him: Lord, you know all things. You know that I love you. Jesus said to him: Feed my sheep.

²⁴ And they prayed, “Lord, You know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two You have chosen

¹³ Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

²³ Then I will strike her children dead, and all the churches will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

⁶¹ Aware that His disciples were grumbling about this teaching, Jesus asked them, “Does this offend you?

¹¹ For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said 'You are not all clean.'
