⁵ For Israel is not forsaken, nor Judah, of his God, of the LORD Almighty, though their land is full of guilt against the Holy One of Israel.

²² For the LORD will not forsake his people for the sake of his great name, because the LORD has decided to make you his own people.

¹³ I will reside among the Israelites and will never abandon my people Israel."

¹⁶ Moreover, Manasseh shed very much innocent blood until he filled Jerusalem from one end to another, apart from his sin which he caused Judah to sin by doing evil in the eyes of the LORD.

⁹ For we were slaves; yet our God has not forsaken us in our bondage, but has extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to rebuild the house of our God, and to repair its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.

¹⁴ For the LORD won't reject his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

²¹ Remember these things, O Jacob and Israel, for you are my servant. I have formed you. You are my servant, O Israel, you will not be forgotten by me.

¹⁴ But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me." ¹⁵ Can a woman forget her nursing child? Will she have no compassion on the child from her womb? Although mothers forget, I will not forget you.

³ "For you will spread out to the right and to the left. Your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities. ⁴ "Do not be afraid. You will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace. You will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood." ⁵ "For your Maker is your husband. the LORD Almighty is his name! The Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer. He is called the God of all the earth. ⁶ "the LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit; a wife, who married young, only to be rejected, says your God. ⁷ "For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back. ⁸ "In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you," says the LORD your Redeemer. ⁹ "To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again. ¹⁰ "Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD. "I have compassion on you." ¹¹ "O afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will build you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with sapphires.

¹² And they will call them, The Holy People, The Redeemed of the LORD; and you will be called, Sought Out, a city not forsaken.

¹⁸ First I'll repay them double for their iniquity and their sin, because they have polluted my land with the dead bodies of their detestable images, and they have filled my inheritance with their abominations."

⁴ For they have forsaken me and have treated this place as foreign. In it they have burned incense to other gods that neither they, their ancestors, nor the kings of Judah knew. They have also filled this place with the blood of innocent people.

¹⁵ Therefore the LORD of Armies says concerning the prophets: “Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink poisoned water; for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone out into all the land.”

³⁷ Thus says the LORD, "If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth below can be explored, also I will reject all the offspring of Israel because of all that they have done," declares the LORD.

²⁴ "Haven't you noticed what these people have been saying? 'The LORD rejected the two families that he had chosen!' They have contempt for my people and no longer consider them a nation. ²⁵ This is what the LORD says: 'If I had not established my covenant for day and night and the laws that govern the heavens and earth, ²⁶ then I might reject the descendants of Jacob and my servant David by not taking some of his descendants as rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Indeed, I'll restore their fortunes, and I'll have compassion on them.'"

²⁸ "'Do not be afraid, my servant Jacob," declares the LORD. "I am with you. I will completely destroy all the nations where I scattered you, but I will not completely destroy you. I will correct you with justice. I will not let you go entirely unpunished.'"

⁴ In those days, and at that time, says the LORD, the sons of Israel shall come, they and the sons of Judah together, going and weeping. They shall go and seek the LORD their God. ⁵ They will ask the way to Zion, turning their faces there. They will come and join themselves to the LORD by an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.

²⁰ In those days and at that time," declares the LORD, "the guilt of Israel will be sought, but there is none, and the sins of Judah, but they will not be found, for I will forgive those I left behind.

¹⁷ And he said to me, "Have you seen, son of man? Was it too small a thing for the house of Judah to do the detestable things that they did here? For they filled up the land with violence, and they provoked me to anger again, and look! They are putting the branch to their nose.

⁹ Then he said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perversion: for they say, 'The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD doesn't see.'

²⁴ Son of man, say to her: Thou art a land that is unclean, and not rained upon in the day of wrath. ²⁵ There is a conspiracy of her prophets within it, like a roaring lion ravening the prey. They have devoured souls. They take treasure and precious things. They have made many widows within it. ²⁶ her priests do violence to my law, and profane my holy things: they put no difference between the holy and profane, neither do they make known [the difference] between the unclean and the clean, and they hide their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. ²⁷ Her rulers in her midst are like wolves tearing the prey, to shed blood and to destroy souls, to get unjust gain. ²⁸ '"Her prophets have smeared whitewash for them. They see false visions and divine lies for them. They say: "This is what the Sovereign LORD says, when the LORD has not spoken." ²⁹ The people in the land useth wicked extortion and robbery. They vex the poor and needy and oppress the stranger against right. ³⁰ '"I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one. ³¹ I will pour out my wrath upon them; I consumed them in the fire of mine anger: I gave their way upon their head, says the Sovereign LORD.

¹⁰ The number of the children of Israel will be like the sand of the sea that cannot be measured or counted; and in the place where it is said to them, "You are not my people," it will be said to them, "Children of the living God."

¹ Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel, for the LORD has an indictment against the inhabitants of the land. There is no faithfulness or loyalty, there is no knowledge of God in the land.

⁸ Look! The eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom. I will destroy it from the face of the earth; but I will not totally destroy the house of Jacob," declares the LORD. ⁹ "Yes, look, I am going to command and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations like one who shakes with a sieve, but not a pebble will fall to the ground.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not keep His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.

²⁰ You will give truth to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

¹ Woe to the oppressive city for she is rebellious and polluted (defiled)! ² She obeyed not the voice. She received not correction. She trusted not in the LORD. She did not draw near to her God. ³ Her officials in her midst are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they leave nothing until the morning. ⁴ Her prophets are vain-glorious, treacherous persons; her priests profane the sanctuary, they do violence to the law.

¹² The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.

⁶ " 'On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a pan of fire among sticks of wood, and like a torch of fire among stalks of grain, and they will devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples, and Jerusalem will be inhabited again in its place, in Jerusalem.

⁸ "In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem. He that is feeble among them will be like David. For the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the LORD before them.

¹ I ask then, did God reject His people? Certainly not! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. ² God did not reject His people, whom He foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says about Elijah, how he appealed to God against Israel:
