¹ Surely in a night Ar of Moab is devastated and ruined. Certainly in a night Kir of Moab is devastated and ruined. ² They have gone up to the temple and to Dibon, to the high places to weep. Moab wails over Nebo and Medeba. Everyone's head is bald and every beard is cut off. ³ In its streets they are girded with sack-cloth, on its roofs, and in its public places every one shall wail, groan with weeping. ⁴ Heshbon and Elealeh cry out. Their voice is heard all the way to Jahaz. Therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud and tremble with fear. ⁵ My heart cries out for Moab! Her nobles flee to Zoar, to Eglath Shelishiyah; for they go up by the ascent of Luhith with weeping; for on the way to Horonaim, they raise up a cry of destruction. ⁶ The waters of Nimrim were dried up, the grass was withered, and the herbs destroyed, and the green things gone. ⁷ So the abundance they worked and what they mustered they bear away to the wadi of the willows. ⁸ For the cry has gone around the borders of Moab; its wailing as far as Eglaim, and its wailing as far as Beer Elim. ⁹ Dimon's waters are full of blood. I will bring still more upon Dimon, a lion upon the fugitives of Moab and upon those who remain in the land.

²⁹ And so at midnight the LORD struck down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the prisoner who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of the livestock. ³⁰ Pharaoh got up during the night, he, all his officials, and all the Egyptians, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead in it.

²⁸ Because fire went out from Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon; it consumed Ar of Moab, the lords of the high places of Arnon.

⁹ "Then the LORD said to me, 'Don't harass Moab or provoke them to war, because I won't give you any part of their land. I have given Ar to the descendants of Lot as their property.

¹⁸ 'Today, you are about to cross the border of Moab at Ar.

²⁵ And they beat down the cities, and each man cast his stone on every good piece of land, and filled it. And they stopped all the wells of water, and cut down all the good trees. Only in Kir-haraseth did they leave the stones of it. But the slingers surrounded it and struck it.

¹⁴ They will swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines on the west. Together they will plunder the sons of the east. They will possess Edom and Moab, and the sons of Ammon will be subject to them.

¹ The oracle of Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz saw:

²⁸ This burden was in the year king Ahaz died:

⁷ The Moabites cry, they cry out together for Moab. Lament and grieve for the men and the raisin cakes of Kir Hareseth.

¹¹ That is why my heart mourns for Moab like a harp. I mourn for Kir Hareseth.

¹⁰ For the hand of the LORD shall rest in this mountain; and Moab shall be trampled under Him, even as straw is trampled in the water of a dung pit.

²⁶ Egypt, Judah, Edom, the people of Ammon, Moab, all those who live in the desert and shave the corners of their beard; indeed all the other nations that are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel that is uncircumcised of heart."

¹ Against Moab thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Woe unto Nebo! for it is plundered: Kiriathaim is put to shame and taken: the stronghold is put to shame and dismayed. ² The pride of Moab is no more. In Heshbon they plotted evil against her: 'Come and let's eliminate her as a nation.' Madmen will also be silenced, and the sword will pursue you. ³ A voice shall cry from Horonaim, 'With great wasting and destruction ⁴ Moab will be destroyed; her little ones will cry out. ⁵ Indeed, at the ascent of Luhith people will go up with bitter weeping. At the descent of Horonaim the anguished cries over the destruction will be heard. ⁶ Flee, save your lives, and be like the bush in the wilderness. ⁷ But, because you trust in your deeds and your riches, you will also be captured. Chemosh will go out into exile, along with his priests and officials. ⁸ A destroyer will come to every town and no town will escape. The valley will be ruined and the plateau destroyed." This is what the LORD has said! ⁹ Put salt on Moab for she will surely fall. Her towns will become desolate places, without any inhabitants in them. ¹⁰ Cursed is he who does the work of the LORD negligently; and cursed is he who keeps back his sword from blood. ¹¹ Moab has been at ease from his youth. He has been undisturbed like wine on its dregs and not poured from vessel to vessel. He has not gone into exile. Therefore, his flavor has remained, and his aroma has not changed. ¹² Therefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will send to him those who pour off and they will pour him off. And they will empty his vessels and smash their jugs. ¹³ And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of their confidence in Bethel. ¹⁴ How can you say, 'we are warriors, and men of might for the battle.' ¹⁵ Moab is plundered and has come up out of her cities. And his chosen young men have gone down to the slaughter, says the King whose name is the LORD Almighty. ¹⁶ The fate of Moab is near, and trouble is coming on him very quickly. ¹⁷ Mourn for him, all who live around him, and all who know his name. Say, 'Oh how the mighty rod is broken, the glorious staff. ¹⁸ Come down from glory and sit on the parched ground, O inhabitant, daughter of Dibon, for the destroyer of Moab has come up against you, he has destroyed your fortifications. ¹⁹ Stand by the road and watch, O inhabitant of Aroer. Ask the man who is fleeing and the woman who is escaping, say, 'What has happened?' ²⁰ Moab was disgraced, for he is broken. Shriek and cry out! Announce in Arnon! that Moab is destroyed ²¹ Judgment has come to the plateau: to Holon and Jahzah, and against Mephaath, ²² Dibon, Nebo, and Beth-diblathaim, ²³ on Kiriathaim, on Beth Gamul, on Beth Meon, ²⁴ and on Karioth, and on Bosor, and on all the cities of Moab far and near. ²⁵ The horn of Moab is cut off and his arm is broken," declares the LORD. ²⁶ Make him drunk for he has exalted himself against the LORD. Moab will wallow in his vomit, and he will be the object of mocking. ²⁷ For was not Israel a mockery to you? Was he found among thieves? For ever since you spoke of him, you skipped for joy. ²⁸ Abandon the cities, and live on the cliffs, you inhabitants of Moab. Be like a dove that builds a nest by the mouth of a cave. ²⁹ We have heard of the pride of Moab —he is very proud— his height, and his pride, and his arrogance, and the haughtiness of his heart. ³⁰ I know his insolence," declares the LORD, "and his boastings are false; they act falsely. ³¹ So I howl for Moab, and I cry for all Moab - meditate for the men of Qir Hareseth. ³² With more than the weeping of Jazer I will weep for you, vine of Sibmah. Your branches passed over the sea. They reached even to the sea of Jazer. The destroyer has fallen on your summer fruits and on your vintage. ³³ "'Joy and gladness are taken from the fruitful orchards and fields and from the land of Moab. I have stopped the flow of wine from the wine presses. No one walks on the grapes with shouts of joy. There are shouts, but they are not shouts of joy. ³⁴ "'Their crying can be heard from Moabite towns. It can be heard from Heshbon to Elealeh and Jahaz, from Zoar as far away as Horonaim and Eglath Shelishiyah (three year old heifer). Even the waters of Nimrim are dried up. ³⁵ And I will put an end in Moab, says the Lord, to him who is making offerings in the high place and burning perfumes to his gods. ³⁶ So my heart roars for Moab as pipes; and my heart roars as pipes for the men of Qir Hareseth: because the riches he worked are destroyed. ³⁷ For every head is bald, and every beard clipped: on all the hands are cuttings, and on the waist sackcloth. ³⁸ On all the housetops of Moab and in the streets there will be nothing but mourning, for I'll break Moab like a vessel that no one wants," declares the LORD. ³⁹ "How it will be shattered! How they'll wail! How Moab will turn his back in shame! Moab will be an object of ridicule and terror to all those around him." ⁴⁰ For this is what the LORD says: "Look, like an eagle one will fly swiftly and spread his wings against Moab. ⁴¹ The towns will be captured and the strongholds seized. On that day the hearts of the warriors of Moab will be like the heart of a woman in labor. ⁴² Moab will be destroyed as a nation because he exalted himself against the LORD. ⁴³ Terror and pit and snare are upon thee O inhabitant of Moab Declareth the LORD: ⁴⁴ He who flees from the dread shall fall into the pit. And he who goes up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare. For I will bring it on Moab, the year of their punishment, declares the LORD. ⁴⁵ "In the shadow of Heshbon fugitives stand without strength, for a fire has gone out from Heshbon, and a flame from Sihon. And it has eaten the forehead of Moab, and the skulls of the people of tumult. ⁴⁶ Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh are undone; for your sons are taken away captive, and your daughters into captivity. ⁴⁷ Yet I will restore the fortunes of Moab in the last of the days," declares the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.

⁸ Thus says the Sovereign LORD: Because Moab and Seir say, Behold, the house of Judah is like all the nations; ⁹ therefore, look! I am opening the side of Moab from the cities on its frontier, the glory of the land: Beth Jeshimoth, Baal Meon, and Kiriathaim. ¹⁰ and I will give it for a possession along with the Ammonites to the sons of the east, so that the Ammonites will not be remembered among the nations. ¹¹ I will execute judgments on Moab. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”

¹ Thus says the Lord; For three sins of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away from it, because they burnt the bones of the king of Edom to lime. ² "I will send a fire to Moab, and it will devour the palaces of Kerioth. Moab will die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet! ³ "I will destroy her ruler and government officials along with him," said the LORD.

⁸ I have heard the reproaches of Moab and the scorning of the Ammonites, with which they have taunted my nation and made boasts against their territory. ⁹ "Therefore, as I live"—a declaration of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel— "Moab shall be as Sodom, and the Ammonites like Gomorrah, a place of weeds and salt pits and a desolation forever. The remnant of my people shall plunder them, and the remainder of my nation shall possess them." ¹⁰ This shall be for them in place of their pride because they mocked and boasted against the people of the LORD of hosts. ¹¹ The LORD shall be grim upon them, and destroy all the goods in the land. And all the Isles of the Heathen shall worship him, every man in his place.

¹ Now about the times and seasons, brothers, we do not need to write to you. ² for you yourselves know very well that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. ³ While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

²⁷ “'You shall not cut the hair on the sides of your head or clip off the edge of your beard. ²⁸ "'You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you. I am the LORD.

⁵ “'They shall not shave their heads or shave off the corners of their beards or make any cuttings in their flesh.

³⁰ And we shot at them. Heshbon has perished as far as Dibon. And we have laid waste as far as Nophah, which reaches to Medeba."

³ "Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon,

³⁸ Nebo, and Baal Meon, (their names being changed), and Sibmah. They gave other names to the cities which they built.

¹ "You are the sons of the LORD your God. Do not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead.

¹ Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, opposite from Jericho. the LORD showed him all the land of Gilead to Dan,

¹⁶ Their limit was from Aroer, on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and the town in the middle of the valley, and all the table-land by Medeba; ¹⁷ Heshbon, and all its cities that are in the plain; Dibon, Bamoth Baal, Beth Baal Meon,

²⁰ And Job rose up and tore his robe, and shaved his head. And he fell down on the ground and worshiped.

²⁴ It shall happen that instead of sweet spices, there shall be rottenness; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of well set hair, baldness; instead of a robe, a wearing of sackcloth; and branding instead of beauty.

³¹ Wail, gate! Cry, city! Melt, Philistia, all of you! For smoke is coming from the north, and there is no straggler in his ranks.

³ In its streets they are girded with sack-cloth, on its roofs, and in its public places every one shall wail, groan with weeping.

¹² And when Moab goes up to the high place, and makes prayer in the house of his god, it will have no effect.

¹² And the Lord, the LORD Almighty, called on that day for weeping and mourning, and for baldness and girding with sackcloth.

²⁹ Cut off your hair, and throw it away, and take up a lamentation on the bare heights; for the LORD has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.'"

⁵ Baldness is coming to Gaza. Ashkelon is silenced. remnant of their valley, how long will you gash yourself?

¹⁸ '"They will put on sackcloth and they will tremble all over. Their heads will be shaved, and they will all be disgraced.

⁸ "When you build a new house make a parapet (wall) for your roof. This way you will not bring bloodguilt on your house if anyone falls from it.

³¹ And David said to Joab, and to all the people with him, Tear your clothes, and gird on sackcloths, and lament before Abner! And king David went behind the bier.

³⁰ When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes. Now he was passing by on the wall, and the people looked, and behold, he had sackcloth underneath on his body.

¹ The burden concerning the valley of vision. What ails you now, that you are wholly gone up to the housetops?

⁴ I said: "Turn away from me. Let me weep bitterly. Do not try to console me over the destruction of my people."

¹³ And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah were defiled as the place of Tophet to all the houses which they burnt incense upon their roofs to all the army of the heavens, and pouring out libations to other gods

⁶ The news reached the king of Nineveh and he arose from his throne, took off his royal robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. ⁷ And he cried out and said in Nineveh by the decree of the king and his great ones, saying, Do not let man or beast, herd or flock taste anything; do not let them feed, nor drink water. ⁸ but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth and cry mightily unto God; and let each one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.

²¹ “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had happened in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

⁴⁶ Then Rebekah said to Isaac, "I loathe my life because of the Hittite women. If Jacob takes a wife from Hittite women like these, from the native women, what am I living for?"

¹⁵ If this is how you are going to treat me, please kill me immediately if I find favor in your eyes, and do not let me see my misery."

²³ Sihon would not let Israel pass through his territory. Sihon gathered all his troops and came out into the desert to attack Israel. When Sihon's troops came to Jahaz, they fought against Israel.

³ "Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon, ⁴ the land that the LORD struck before the community of Israel, is a land of livestock, and your servants have livestock."

³² Then Sihon and all his people came out to meet us for battle at Jahaz.

¹⁸ Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,

²⁰ But Sihon didn't trust Israel to pass through his territory, so he assembled his entire army, encamped in Jahaz, and fought against Israel.

⁴ and ran for a day's journey deep into the wilderness. He found a juniper tree, sat down under it, and prayed that he could die. He asked God, "Enough! LORD! Take my life, because I'm not better than my ancestors!"

²⁰ "Why is light given to those in misery, and life to the bitter in heart? ²¹ »They long for death that does not come. They search for it more than for hidden treasure. ²² "They are filled with gladness and rejoice when they reach the grave.

¹⁵ so that my soul chooses strangling and death rather than [these] my bones. ¹⁶ I loathe my life; I would not live alway: Let me alone; for my days are vanity.

⁸ The fields of Heshbon and the vines of Sibmah wither. The rulers of the nations have trampled down the choicest vines, which once reached Jazer and spread toward the desert. Their shoots spread out and went as far as the sea. ⁹ So I weep, as Jazer weeps, for the vines of Sibmah. O Heshbon, O Elealeh, I drench you with tears! The shouts of joy over your ripened fruit and over your harvests have been stilled.

³ "Then the few who remain from these wicked people will want to die rather than live where I will scatter them, declares the LORD Almighty.

¹⁸ Why did I come out from the womb, to see toil, and sorrow, and to end my days in shame?

³⁴ "'Their crying can be heard from Moabite towns. It can be heard from Heshbon to Elealeh and Jahaz, from Zoar as far away as Horonaim and Eglath Shelishiyah (three year old heifer). Even the waters of Nimrim are dried up.

³ "Now, O LORD, please take my life from me for it is better for me to die than to live."

⁸ When the sun arose, God prepared a sultry east wind; and the sun beat on Jonah's head, so that he fainted, and requested for himself that he might die, and said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”

⁶ In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, but death will escape them.

¹⁰ Lot looked up and saw that the district of the Jordan River was well watered, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, toward Zoar. This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

² they made war with Bera, king of Sodom; Birsha, king of Gomorrah; Shinab, king of Admah; Shemeber, king of Zeboiim; and the king of Bela (also called Zoar).

²² "Run there quickly! I cannot do anything until you get there." The city is named Zoar [Small].

²³ And all the land wept aloud as all the people went by. And the king also passed over the Kidron Valley, and all the people passed by on the Olive road into the wilderness.

³⁰ Now David was going up on the Ascent of the Olives, weeping as he went, with his head covered and going barefoot. All the people who were with him each covered their head and wept as they went.

⁹ So I weep, as Jazer weeps, for the vines of Sibmah. O Heshbon, O Elealeh, I drench you with tears! The shouts of joy over your ripened fruit and over your harvests have been stilled. ¹⁰ Joy and gladness are taken away from the orchards. No one sings or shouts in the vineyards! No one treads out wine at the presses, for I have put an end to the shouting. ¹¹ That is why my heart mourns for Moab like a harp. I mourn for Kir Hareseth.

¹⁴ But now the LORD has spoken, saying, "Within three years, as a worker bound by contract would count them, the glory of Moab shall be brought into contempt, with all his great multitude; and the remnant will be very small and feeble."

⁵ The Sovereign LORD Almighty has a day of tumult, trampling and terror in the Valley of Vision. It is a day of battering down walls and of crying out to the mountains.

²⁰ Ruin on ruin is cried; for the whole land is laid waste. Suddenly my tents are laid waste, my curtains in a moment.

¹⁸ My comfort in my sadness! my heart is faint in me! ¹⁹ Listen, my people's cry from a distant land. 'Is the LORD no longer in Zion? Is her king no longer there? Why did they provoke me to anger with their images, with their worthless foreign gods?"

¹⁰ I'll weep and mourn for the mountains, and lament for the desert pastures, because they are desolate and no one passes through them. They don't hear the lowing of the cattle. Both the birds of the sky and the animals have fled. They're gone!

¹⁸ And let them make haste and take up a lament over us, so that our eyes may run down with tears, and waters flow from our eyelids. ¹⁹ For a sound of mourning is heard from Zion: 'How we're ruined! Our shame is very great, because we have left the land, because our houses are torn down.'"

¹⁷ If you don't listen, I'll cry secretly because of your pride. My eyes will cry bitterly, flowing tears, because the LORD's flock has been taken captive.

¹⁶ I haven't run away from being your shepherd, and I haven't longed for the day of sickness. You know what comes out from my lips, it's open before you.

⁴¹ As Jesus approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it ⁴² and said, “If only you had known on this day what would bring you peace! But now it is hidden from your eyes. ⁴³ For the days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, and surround you and hem you in on every side, ⁴⁴ They will level you to the ground—you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.”

¹ I speak the truth in Christ. I am not lying. My conscience testifies for me in the Holy Spirit ² I have deep sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. ³ For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my own flesh and blood,

³⁶ Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran: fortified cities and folds for sheep.

²⁷ and in the valley, Beth Haram, Beth Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, the Jordan’s bank, to the uttermost part of the sea of Chinnereth beyond the Jordan eastward.

⁹ So I weep, as Jazer weeps, for the vines of Sibmah. O Heshbon, O Elealeh, I drench you with tears! The shouts of joy over your ripened fruit and over your harvests have been stilled. ¹⁰ Joy and gladness are taken away from the orchards. No one sings or shouts in the vineyards! No one treads out wine at the presses, for I have put an end to the shouting.

⁵ The waters of the Nile River will dry up. The riverbed will be parched and dry. ⁶ The canals will stink. The streams of Egypt will dwindle and dry up. The reeds and rushes will wither. ⁷ The plants (rushes) along the Nile, at the mouth of the river will wither. Every sown field along the Nile will become parched and blow away to be no more.

¹⁰ "The field is laid waste, the land mourns. The grain is destroyed, the new wine dried up, the oil fails. ¹¹ Be ashamed, O you farmers; wail, O you vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field has perished. ¹² The vine is dried up, and the fig trees have become few; the pomegranate, and palm tree, and apple, and all the trees of the field have dried up: for the sons of men have abolished joy.

¹⁷ Though the fig tree shall not blossom, and fruit is not on the vines; the work of the olive fails, and the fields make no food; the flock is cut off from the fold, and no herd is in the stalls, ¹⁸ yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in God my Savior.

⁷ The first sounded his trumpet and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled upon the earth. A third of the earth was burned up and a third of the trees were burned up and all green grass was burned up.

¹ By the waters of Babylon we sat down; and wept, when we remembered Zion. ² On the willows there we hung our harps,

²⁹ They roar like a lioness. They growl like a young lion. They growl as they snatch their prey and carry it off to where no one can rescue it.

⁶ "I send him against a godless nation. I commission him against the people of my fury to capture booty and to seize plunder, and to trample them down like mud (clay) in the streets.

¹⁴ and my hand found, as a nest, the valuables of the people: and as one gathers abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth; and no one flapped the wing or gaped the mouth or chirped.

⁶ An oracle of the animals of the Negev: Through a land of trouble and distress, of lioness and lion, among them are snake and flying serpent; they carry their wealth on the backs of male donkeys and their treasures on the humps of camels, to a people that cannot profit them.

³⁶ So my heart roars for Moab as pipes; and my heart roars as pipes for the men of Qir Hareseth: because the riches he worked are destroyed.

¹² The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his caves with the kill, and his dens with prey. ¹³ "I am against you," said the LORD Almighty! "I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions. I will destroy your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers will be heard no more."

² They have gone up to the temple and to Dibon, to the high places to weep. Moab wails over Nebo and Medeba. Everyone's head is bald and every beard is cut off. ³ In its streets they are girded with sack-cloth, on its roofs, and in its public places every one shall wail, groan with weeping. ⁴ Heshbon and Elealeh cry out. Their voice is heard all the way to Jahaz. Therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud and tremble with fear. ⁵ My heart cries out for Moab! Her nobles flee to Zoar, to Eglath Shelishiyah; for they go up by the ascent of Luhith with weeping; for on the way to Horonaim, they raise up a cry of destruction.

²⁰ Moab was disgraced, for he is broken. Shriek and cry out! Announce in Arnon! that Moab is destroyed ²¹ Judgment has come to the plateau: to Holon and Jahzah, and against Mephaath, ²² Dibon, Nebo, and Beth-diblathaim, ²³ on Kiriathaim, on Beth Gamul, on Beth Meon, ²⁴ and on Karioth, and on Bosor, and on all the cities of Moab far and near.

³¹ So I howl for Moab, and I cry for all Moab - meditate for the men of Qir Hareseth. ³² With more than the weeping of Jazer I will weep for you, vine of Sibmah. Your branches passed over the sea. They reached even to the sea of Jazer. The destroyer has fallen on your summer fruits and on your vintage. ³³ "'Joy and gladness are taken from the fruitful orchards and fields and from the land of Moab. I have stopped the flow of wine from the wine presses. No one walks on the grapes with shouts of joy. There are shouts, but they are not shouts of joy. ³⁴ "'Their crying can be heard from Moabite towns. It can be heard from Heshbon to Elealeh and Jahaz, from Zoar as far away as Horonaim and Eglath Shelishiyah (three year old heifer). Even the waters of Nimrim are dried up.

¹⁰ It will happen, that fishermen will stand by it. From En Gedi even to En Eglaim will be a place for the spreading of nets. Their fish will be after their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceedingly many.

¹⁸ "'If you still will not listen to me, I will discipline you seven times for your sins.

²¹ If you walk contrary to me, and will not hearken to me, I will bring seven times more plagues upon you for your sins. ²² "'I will send wild animals among you. They will rob you of your children. They will destroy your cattle, and make you so few that your roads will be deserted.

²⁴ I also will walk contrary to you, and will strike you seven times for your sins.

²⁸ then I will go against you in hostile anger, and also I myself will discipline you seven times for your sins.

²⁵ When they first lived there they did not respect the LORD. So the LORD sent lions among them, causing some of them to die.

³ And I will set over them four kinds, says the LORD: the sword to kill, and the dogs to drag off, and the birds of the heaven and the beast of the earth to devour and destroy.

⁴³ Terror and pit and snare are upon thee O inhabitant of Moab Declareth the LORD: ⁴⁴ He who flees from the dread shall fall into the pit. And he who goes up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare. For I will bring it on Moab, the year of their punishment, declares the LORD. ⁴⁵ "In the shadow of Heshbon fugitives stand without strength, for a fire has gone out from Heshbon, and a flame from Sihon. And it has eaten the forehead of Moab, and the skulls of the people of tumult.

¹⁷ "The people of Israel are like scattered sheep that lions have chased. The first to devour them was the king of Assyria. The last to gnaw at their bones was King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.

¹⁹ It will be as if a man fled from a lion and a bear met him; or he went into the house and leaned his hand against the wall and a snake bit him.
