¹² But, I, was like a moth, to Ephraim,—and like rotten wood to the house of Judah.

²⁸ "So man wastes away like something rotten, like a garment eaten by moths.

⁴ A worthy woman is the crown of her husband, but a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones.

⁹ Behold, the Sovereign LORD will help Me; who is he who shall condemn Me? Lo, they all shall wear out like a garment; the moth shall eat them.

⁸ "The moth will eat them up like a garment. The worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness will last forever! My salvation will last through all generations."

⁷ But at dawn the next day, God provided a worm that attacked the vine plant so that it withered away.

⁴³ If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, to the fire that shall never be quenched.

⁴⁵ And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.

⁴⁷ And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, ⁴⁸ 'where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.'
