¹ The LORD said to me, "Go again, love a woman who loves another, and is an adulteress, even as the LORD loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods, and love cakes of raisins." ² So I bought her for fifteen pieces of silver, and a homer of barley, and a half-homer of barley. ³ And I said to her, You shall stay with me many days. You shall not be a harlot, nor be to a man; and I also will be for you. ⁴ For the children of Israel shall live many days without king, and without prince, and without sacrifice, and without sacred stone, and without ephod or idols. ⁵ Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king, and shall come with trembling to the LORD and to his blessings in the last days.

⁶ Early the next day the people sacrificed burnt offerings and brought peace offerings. After that they sat down to a feast, which turned into an orgy.

⁶ For you are a holy people to the LORD your God. the LORD your God has chosen you to be His own treasure out of all the people on the face of the earth. ⁷ The LORD did not set his love on you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples:

²⁷ And they went out into the fields and gathered in their grapes and trod them and made merry: and went into the house of their God, and did eat and drink and cursed Abimelech.

¹⁶ When they put away their foreign gods and served the LORD, he brought Israel's misery to an end.

¹⁹ He also distributed to all the people, to the whole crowd of Israelites, men and women, one loaf of bread, one date cake, and one raisin cake. Then all the people went home.

²³ But the LORD was merciful unto them, and had compassion on them, and looked upon them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and did not desire to destroy them or to cast them from his presence as yet.

¹⁸ Yes, when they had made themselves a molded calf, and said, 'This is your God who brought you up out of Egypt,' and had committed awful blasphemies; ¹⁹ Even then, in your great mercy, you did not give them up in the waste land: the pillar of cloud still went before them by day, guiding them on their way, and the pillar of fire by night, to give them light, and make clear the way they were to go.

³¹ But for Your great mercies, You did not consume nor forsake them; for You are a gracious and merciful God.

⁴³ Many times He delivered them, but they rebelled in their counsel and sank in their iniquities. ⁴⁴ Yet he looked upon their distress when he heard their cry. ⁴⁵ he remembered his covenant and according to the multitude of his mercies; ⁴⁶ He also made them to be pitied by all those who carried them captive.

² Look, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress; so our eyes look to the LORD, our God, until he has mercy on us.

⁷ In that day men will look to their maker and their eyes will have respect for the Holy One of Israel. ⁸ He will not be looking to the altars, the work of his hands, or to the wood pillars or to the sun-images which his fingers have made.

²² Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

¹ A saying: 'Look, if a man divorces his wife, and she goes from him and she becomes another man's wife, will he return to her again?' Will not that land be greatly defiled? And you have prostituted yourself with many lovers, would you now return to me?" declares the LORD. ² "Look up to the barren heights and see. Is there any place where you have not been ravished? You have sat beside the road, waiting for them like a nomad in the desert. And you have polluted the land with your fornication and your wickedness. ³ Therefore rain showers have been withheld, and the spring rain has not come. Yet you have the forehead of a woman prostitute, you refuse to be ashamed. ⁴ Have you not just called out to me, 'My father, you are the friend of my youth

¹² Go, proclaim these words to the north, and say, 'Return, unfaithful Israel,' declares the LORD. 'I won't look on you in anger, for I am gracious,' declares the LORD. 'I won't remain angry forever. ¹³ 'Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have rebelled against the LORD your God, and have scattered your favors to strangers under every green tree. But you haven't obeyed me,' declares the LORD. ¹⁴ "Return, unfaithful people," declares the LORD, "for I am your husband. I'll take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I'll bring you to Zion.

²⁰ Instead, like an unfaithful wife leaves her husband, so you have been unfaithful to me, house of Israel," declares the LORD.

²⁰ "Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? Indeed, as often as I've spoken about him, I surely still remember him. Therefore I deeply yearn for him. I'll surely have great compassion on him," declares the LORD.

² When the LORD spoke at the first by Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea, "Go, take for yourself a wife of prostitution and children of unfaithfulness; for the land commits great adultery, forsaking the LORD." ³ So he went and took Gomer, daughter of Diblaim; and she conceived, and bore him a son.

¹¹ Prostitution and wine and new wine take away the understanding.

⁵ The day of our king, the princes began to be mad with wine: he stretched out his hand with scorners.

¹ Do not rejoice, Israel, to jubilation like the nations; for you were unfaithful to your God. You love the wages of a prostitute at every grain threshing floor. ² Threshing floor and wine vat will not feed them, and new wine will fail her.

⁸ "How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I treat you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is changed within me. All my compassion is aroused.

⁸ "They lie down beside every altar on clothes taken from indebtedness. In the house of their God they drink the wine they have confiscated.

⁶ who drink bowls of wine, and they anoint with the best of oils; but they are not grieved for the breaking of Joseph!

⁷ But as for me, I will look to the LORD. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not keep His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. ¹⁹ You will again have compassion on us. You will tread our iniquities under foot. You will throw all our sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰ You will give truth to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the LORD: "I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy. My house will be built in it," says the LORD of hosts, "and a line shall be stretched forth over Jerusalem."'

⁵⁰ “Friend,” Jesus replied, “do what you came for.” Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus, and arrested Him.

⁵⁴ He has helped His servant Israel, remembering to be merciful, ⁵⁵ toward Abraham and his offspring for ever, as he spoke to our fathers.

⁷ Do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written: “The people sat down to eat and to drink, and got up to revel in idolatry.”

²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: you cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of demons.

³ For you have spent enough time in the past doing what the Gentiles like to do, living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry.

⁴¹ Thus have I been twenty years in your house; I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flocks: and you have changed my wages ten times.

¹² Make the bride price and gift as high as you like; I will give what you say to me. But give me the girl as a wife."

¹⁷ If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he shall pay an amount equal to the bride-price for virgins.

¹⁶ And if a man should hallow to the Lord a part of the field of his possession, then the valuation shall be according to its seed, fifty shekels of silver for a homer of barley.

²⁵ Saul said, Tell David, 'The king desires no dowry except one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged on the king's enemies'. Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

¹⁰ "A ten-acre vineyard will produce only six gallons of wine, and two quarts of seed will produce only four quarts of grain."

¹¹ The ephah and the bath shall be of one measure, that the bath may contain one tenth of a homer, and the ephah one tenth of a homer. Its measure shall be the same as the homer.

¹³ and she shall remove the clothing she was wearing when captured, and shall remain in your house, and mourn her father and her mother a full month. And after that you may go in to her and be her husband, and she shall be your wife.

¹⁹ When Laban went to shear his sheep, Rachel stole her father's household idols.

¹⁰ The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. To him will the obedience of the peoples be.

⁴ These are the garments that they shall make: a breast piece, an ephod, a robe, a checkered tunic, a turban, and a sash. They shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and for his sons to serve me as priests.

⁷ He put the tunic on him, tied the sash on him, clothed him with the robe, put the ephod on him, and he tied the skillfully woven band of the ephod on him and fastened it to him with it.

²⁷ Gideon made an ephod of it and put it in his city, in Ophrah, and all Israel prostituted themselves by worshipping it there; and it became a snare to Gideon and to his house.

⁵ This man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and household gods and consecrated one of his sons to be his priest.

¹⁷ The five men who had gone to spy out the land went in there and took the engraved image, the ephod, the household gods and the molten image; and the priest stood by the entrance of the gate with the six hundred armed men. ¹⁸ When these men went into Micah's house and fetched the engraved image, the ephod, the household gods and the molten image, the priest said to them, What are you doing? ¹⁹ They told him: "Be quiet. Do not say a word. Come with us and be our priest and adviser. Is it better for you to be a priest to the house of one man, or to be a priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?" ²⁰ The priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, the household gods and the engraved image, and went with the people. ²¹ And they turned and went and put the little children, the livestock, and the valuable property in front of them. ²² When they had been gone a short distance from Micah's home, some of Micah's neighbors assembled a search party and overtook the Danites. ²³ They shouted after the Danites, who turned round and said to Micah, What is the matter with you that you come with such a company? ²⁴ He said, “You have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and have gone away! What more do I have? How can you ask me, 'What ails you?'”

¹⁸ Now Samuel was ministering before the LORD, as a boy wearing a linen ephod.

³ And Ahiah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod's brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the LORD's priest in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. And the people knew not that Jonathan was gone.

⁹ The priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine whom you killed in the valley of Elah is here, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it; there is no other except that here. David said, There is none like that. Give it to me.

¹⁸ Then the king said to Doeg, "You turn and attack the priests." Doeg the Edomite turned and attacked the priests. That day he killed eighty-five men who carry the linen ephod.

⁶ Now as Abiathar, son of Abimelech, had fled to David, he went down with him to Keila, having the ephod in his hand.

⁹ When David learned that Saul was plotting evil against him, he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod here."

⁷ And David said to Abiathar the priest the son of Ahimelech, Bring the ephod here to me.

¹⁴ And David, clothed in a linen ephod, was dancing before the Lord with all his strength.

²⁴ Moreover, the mediums and the spiritists, the household gods and the idols, and all of the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, Josiah removed in order to establish the words of the law written on the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had found in the temple of the LORD.

² and he went out to meet Asa, and said to him, "Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

¹⁹ In that day, there will be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the LORD at its border. ²⁰ And it will be a sign and a witness to the LORD Almighty in the land of Egypt; when they cry out to the LORD because of oppressors, he will send them a savior and a defender, and he will deliver them.

⁴ And I will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah; for what he did in Jerusalem. ⁵ For who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will mourn you? Who will come to ask of your welfare?

³² And it shall not be as ye say, We will be as the nations, and as the tribes of the earth, to worship stocks and stones.

²¹ For the king of Babylon stands at the fork of the road at the head of the two roads to practice divination. He shakes the arrows, he inquires with the teraphim, he examines the liver.

¹¹ It magnified itself, even to the prince of the host. It took the continual burnt offering from him and the place of his sanctuary was thrown down. ¹² The host was given over to it together with the daily sacrifice because of transgression. And it cast down truth to the ground, and kept prospering. ¹³ Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who spoke, "How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression that makes desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled?"

²⁷ And he shall confirm a covenant with the many for one week. And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on a wing of the altar will be abominations that desolate, even until the end. And that which was decreed shall pour out on the desolator.

³¹ And forces shall appear on his part, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate.

¹¹ From the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred ninety days.

¹¹ I will also cause all her joy to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her appointed feasts.

¹ Israel is a luxuriant vine; he yields fruit for himself. The more his fruit increased, the more he made numerous altars. The more his land prospered, the more he improved his stone pillars. ² Their heart is divided, and so now they will be found guilty. He will demolish their altars, He will destroy their sacred stones. ³ For now they shall say, We have no king, because we did not fear the LORD. What then should a king do for us?

¹¹ I gave you a king in my anger, and I took him in my wrath.

¹¹ I will cut off the cities of your land, and will tear down all your strongholds. ¹² I will render your witchcraft powerless, and mediums will no longer exist among you. ¹³ "I will remove your graven images and your sacred pillars from you. You will no longer worship the work of your hands. ¹⁴ I will uproot your Asherim out of your midst; and I will destroy your cities.

² And it shall be in that day, I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall be remembered no more, says the LORD of hosts. And I also will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

¹ And Jesus left the Temple and was going away, when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to the Temple buildings. ² “Do you see all these things?” He replied. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be toppled.”

²⁴ They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

¹⁵ At this, they shouted, “Away with Him! Away with Him! Crucify Him!” “Shall I crucify your King?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” replied the chief priests.

¹³ They presented false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking against this holy place and against the Law. ¹⁴ For we have heard him say that this Jesus from Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs that Moses handed down to us."

²⁶ If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins remains,

¹⁴ So now I will go back to my people: but first let me make clear to you what this people will do to your people in days to come.

³⁰ "When you are in trouble (distress) and all these things happen to you in the latter days, turn to the LORD your God and obey his voice.

¹⁶ When all of Israel saw that the king would not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, "What share do we have in David? There is no inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents, Israel! Now look to your house, David!" Then Israel went to their tents.

³ If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? ⁴ But with you there is forgiveness, so that you may be feared.

² In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the highest of the mountains and exalted above the hills. All the nations will stream to it.

¹² In that day the LORD will thresh from the flowing Euphrates River to the Wadi (streambed) of Egypt. You, O Israelites, will be gathered up one by one. ¹³ A great trumpet will sound. Those who were perishing in Assyria and those who were exiled in Egypt will come and worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.

³ Give ear and come to me; listen to me, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. ⁴ Look! I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and a commander for the peoples.

²² Return, O apostate children, I will heal your backsliding. 'Look, we come to you, for you are the LORD our God. ²³ Surely, an illusion comes from the hills, the turmoil on the mountains. Surely, in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.

⁵ "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch. He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.

⁹ 'Rather, they will serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.

²⁴ The fierce anger of the LORD won't turn back until he has accomplished and established the plan of his heart. In the days to come, you will understand this.

⁶ For there will be a day when the watchmen will call out on the hills of Ephraim, 'Arise, let's go up to Zion to the LORD our God.'" ⁷ For this is what the LORD says: "Cry out with joy for Jacob and shout for the chief among the nations. Announce, give praise, and say, 'Lord, save your people, the remnant of Israel.' ⁸ Behold! I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the corners of the earth. Among them the blind, and the lame, the pregnant one, and the travailing one together, a great company shall return here. ⁹ They'll come crying, and I'll lead them as they pray for mercy. I'll make them walk by streams of water, along a straight path on which they won't stumble. For I am Israel's father, and Ephraim is my firstborn." ¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, O nations. Declare in the coastlands afar off. Say: "He who scattered Israel will gather him and keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.

⁹ "Jerusalem will be my source of joy, praise, and honor. All the nations on earth will hear about all the blessings that I will give to Jerusalem. They will be afraid and tremble because of all the prosperity that I will provide for it.'"

¹⁷ For this is what the LORD says: 'David will never be without a man sitting on the throne of the house of Israel,

⁴ In those days, and at that time, says the LORD, the sons of Israel shall come, they and the sons of Judah together, going and weeping. They shall go and seek the LORD their God. ⁵ They will ask the way to Zion, turning their faces there. They will come and join themselves to the LORD by an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.

⁶³ '"I will forgive all the wrongs you have done, but you will remember them and be too ashamed to open your mouth.' The Sovereign LORD has spoken."

²³ "'I will place one shepherd over them, my servant David. He will take care of them. He will take care of them and be their shepherd. ²⁴ I, the LORD, will be their God, and my servant David prince among them;" I, the LORD, have spoken it.

²² I will form them into one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel. One king will rule all of them. They will no longer be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms. ²³ They will no longer dishonor themselves with their idols, with their detestable things, or with their rebellious acts. I will forgive them for all the times they turned away from me and sinned. I will cleanse them so that they will be my people, and I will be their God. ²⁴ And my servant David will be king over them and they all will have one shepherd. They will also walk in my ordinances and observe my statutes and do them. ²⁵ "'"They will live in the land that I gave my servant Jacob, the land where their ancestors lived. They, their children, and their grandchildren will live in it for a very long time. My servant David will be their prince for a very long time.

⁸ "'"After many days you will be summoned. In the latter years you will come into the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel that had been a continual waste. Its people were brought out from the nations, and all of them are living securely.

¹⁶ and you will advance against my people Israel like a cloud covering the land; it will be in the last days, and I will bring you against my land, so that the nations know me, when I show myself holy through you before their eyes, O Gog!" '

²⁸ But there is a God in Heaven who reveals secrets and makes known to King Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed are these.

¹⁴ "Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the future for the vision is yet for many days."

⁶ They will go with their flocks and herds to seek the LORD, but they will not find him; he has withdrawn from them.

¹⁵ I will return again to my place until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face; in their distress they will search me.

¹¹ "At that time I will restore David's fallen tent, restoring its torn places. I will restore its ruins, rebuilding it as it was long ago,

¹ But in the latter days, it will happen that the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established on the top of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills; and peoples will stream to it.

¹⁶ ‘After this I will return and rebuild David’s fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it, ¹⁷ so that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who bear My name, says the Lord who does these things ¹⁸ that have been known for ages.’

⁴ Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?

²⁵ I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.
