¹ We must pay closer attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. ² For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every transgression and disobedience received its just punishment, ³ how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? This salvation was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, ⁴ God also testified about it with signs, wonders, and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit given according to his will. ⁵ For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. ⁶ But there is a place where someone has testified, "What is man that you are mindful of him, or the son of man that you care for him? ⁷ You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor ⁸ You have put everything under his feet!" In thus making everything subject to man, God left nothing that was not subjected to him. But we do not as yet see everything made subject to him, ⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. ¹⁰ In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting for God, for whom and through whom all things exist, to make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through suffering. ¹¹ For he who makes holy and they who are made holy are all of one. For this cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers, ¹² and say, "I will tell your name to my brothers, In the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise"; ¹³ And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Here am I, and the children God has given me." ¹⁴ Therefore, since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil, ¹⁵ and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. ¹⁶ For surely it is not the angels He helps, but the descendants of Abraham. ¹⁷ So He had to be made like His brothers in every way, that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, in order to make atonement for the sins of the people. ¹⁸ Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

⁹ Only guard yourselves carefully so you won't forget the things that you saw and let them slip from your mind for the rest of your life. Tell them to your children and to your grandchildren.

²³ Be careful, lest you forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make yourselves a carved image in the form of anything which the LORD your God has forbidden you.

⁴⁶ he said to them, Set your heart to all the words which I testify to you this day, which you must command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law. ⁴⁷ because they're not just empty words for you they are your very life. Through these instructions you will live long in the land that you are about to cross over the Jordan River to possess.

¹¹ "So be very diligent to love the LORD your God, ¹² But if you will embrace the errors of these nations that dwell among you, and make marriages with them, and join friendships:

¹³ »You will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.

⁹ BET How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.

¹ My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you, ² so as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; ³ if, indeed, you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, ⁴ If you seek it as for silver And search for it as for buried treasures, ⁵ then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

²¹ My son, keep good sense, and do not let wise purpose go from your eyes.

¹ Listen, sons, to a father's instruction. Pay attention and know understanding; ² for I give you sound learning. Do not forsake my law. ³ For I was a son unto my father, a tender and an only child before my mother. ⁴ Father taught me. He said: »Remember my words in your heart. Obey my commandments and live.

²⁰ My son, pay attention to my words, and listen closely to what I say. ²¹ Do not let them out of your sight; keep them within your heart. ²² For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body.

¹ My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you. ² Keep my commandments and live! Guard my teaching as the apple of your eye.

⁶ Watch out! For I am bringing in the Chaldeans, that cruel and impetuous people, who sweep across the earth dispossessing people from homes not their own.

¹⁶ You are filled with shame, and not glory. You will also drink, and be exposed. The cup of the LORD's right hand will come around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.

⁹ Do you still not understand? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?

¹⁸ Do you have eyes but fail to see? Do you have ears but fail to hear? Don't you remember?

¹⁵ But the seeds on good soil are those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, cling to it, and by persevering produce a crop.

⁴⁴ "Listen carefully to these words. The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into human hands."

¹ In times past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets in many parts and in various ways, ² But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.

⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, or lose heart when He rebukes you.

²⁵ See to it that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? ²⁶ At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also heaven."

¹² Therefore I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. ¹³ I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of my body,

¹⁵ And I will make every effort to ensure that after my departure, you will be able to recall these things at all times.

¹ Beloved, this is now my second letter to you. Both of them are reminders to stir you to wholesome thinking

²⁷ He said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says, 'Every man put his sword on his thigh, and go back and forth from gate to gate in the camp, and each of you kill his brother and friend and neighbor.'" ²⁸ The Levites did just as Moses told them, and about 3,000 people died that day.

¹ And the two sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, each took his censer and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he had not commanded them. ² And fire went out from before the LORD and consumed them; and they died before the LORD.

¹⁴ Lead the reviler outside the camp; and all that heard [him] shall lay their hands upon his head, and the whole assembly shall stone him. ¹⁵ "Inform the Israelites: 'Those who treat their God with contempt will be punished for their sin. ¹⁶ He who blasphemes the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him: the foreigner as well as the native-born, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.

³³ And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, before it was consumed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague.

²⁸ Say to them, 'Surely as I live,' declares the LORD, 'just as you spoke in my hearing, so I will do to you; ²⁹ in this desert your corpses will fall, and all your counted ones, according to all your number, from twenty years old and above who grumbled against me. ³⁰ none of you, shall enter into the land, as to which I uplifted my hand to give you an abode therein,—save Caleb son of Jephunneh, and Joshua, son of Nun: ³¹ But your little children, whom you said would be plunder, I will bring them, and they will know the land that you rejected. ³² But, your own dead bodies, shall fall in this desert; ³³ "'Your children will be shepherds in the desert for forty years. They will suffer for your unfaithfulness until the last of your bodies lies dead in the desert. ³⁴ "'You explored the land for forty days. So for forty years, one year for each day, you will suffer for your sins and know what it means for me to be against you.' ³⁵ I, the LORD, have spoken; I will surely do this to all this evil community who has banded together against me. In this desert they will come to an end, and there they will die." ³⁶ As for the men whom Moses sent to explore the land, who returned and made the community grumble against him by spreading a report over the land, ³⁷ the men who spread the evil report of the land died by the plague before the LORD.

³⁰ But the one who acts presumptuously from among the native or alien blasphemes against the LORD, and that person must be cut off from the midst of the people. ³¹ Because he has despised the LORD's word, and has broken his commandment, that soul shall be utterly cut off. His iniquity shall be on him.'” ³² One time, while the Israelites were still in the wilderness, a man was found gathering firewood on the Sabbath. ³³ And they that found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to the whole assembly. ³⁴ And they put him in custody, because it was not declared what should be done to him. ³⁵ And the Lord said to Moses: Let that man die, let all the multitude stone him without the camp. ³⁶ So the whole congregation took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD commanded Moses.

³¹ When he finished speaking, the ground under them split, ³² The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up with their households, all of Korah's men, and all their goods. ³³ They went down alive to their graves with everything that belonged to them. The ground covered them. They disappeared from the assembly. ³⁴ And all Israel around them fled at their cry. For they said, Lest the earth swallow us up. ³⁵ And fire came forth from the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered the incense.

⁴⁹ Fourteen thousand seven hundred died from the plague in addition to those who died because of Korah.

¹¹ Then Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice. And abundant water went out, and the community and their livestock drank. ¹² But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you have not trusted in me, to regard me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this assembly into the land that I have given to them."

⁶ the LORD sent poisonous snakes among the people. They bit the people, and many of the Israelites died.

⁹ - and they who die in the plague, twenty-four thousand.

³ "You saw with your own eyes what he did in Baal Peor. The LORD your God exterminated from among you every man who followed Baal of Peor. ⁴ "But all of you who were faithful to the LORD your God are still alive today.

² If there is any man or woman among you, in any of the towns which the Lord your God gives you, who does evil in the eyes of the Lord your God, sinning against his agreement,

⁵ "Bring that man or woman who has done this evil deed out to your gates. Stone the man or the woman to death.

¹² The man who does presumptuously in not listening to the priest who stands to minister there before the LORD your God, or to the judge, that man shall die, and you must put away the evil from Israel.

²⁶ 'Cursed is he who doesn't uphold the words of this law by doing them.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'”

² May my teaching trickle like the dew, my words like rain showers on tender grass, and like spring showers on new growth.

¹⁷ The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands. The Lord is among them, from Sinai, into the sanctuary.

⁵³ you who have received the law through ranks of angels, but have not kept it.

⁵ For all that, God was not pleased with most of them—their carcasses were scattered around the desert! ⁶ These things took place as examples to keep us from craving evil things as they did. ⁷ Do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written: “The people sat down to eat and to drink, and got up to revel in idolatry.” ⁸ We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. ⁹ We should not test Christ, as some of them did, and were killed by snakes. ¹⁰ And do not complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel. ¹¹ Now these things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. ¹² So that he that thinks to stand, let him be careful that he not fall.

¹⁹ Why then was the Law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the arrival of the seed to whom the promise referred. It was administered through angels by a mediator.

¹ In times past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets in many parts and in various ways,

²⁸ Anyone who rejected the Law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

³⁵ So do not throw away your confidence; it holds a great reward.

⁶ And without faith it is impossible to please God, for anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

²⁶ He thought that being insulted for the sake of the Messiah was of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.

⁵ Although you are fully aware of this, I want to remind you that after Jesus had delivered His people out of the land of Egypt, He destroyed those who did not believe.

² "Truly God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid. the LORD… the LORD is my strength and my song! He has become my salvation."

⁶ "That day the people who live on this coast will say: 'See what has happened to those we relied on, those we fled to for help and deliverance from the king of Assyria! How then can we escape?"'

⁵ "My righteousness is near. My salvation is on the way and my arm (power) will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look to me and wait in hope for my arm (power).

⁸ "The moth will eat them up like a garment. The worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness will last forever! My salvation will last through all generations."

¹¹ Look, the LORD has proclaimed to the end of the earth, "Say to the daughter of Zion, 'Look, your salvation comes. Look, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.'"

¹⁵ But he rebelled against him by sending his messengers to Egypt to give to him horses and a large army. Will he succeed? Will he escape doing these things, and can he break the covenant and escape?

¹⁸ Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, see, he had given his hand, and has done all these things, he shall not escape.

¹⁷ From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

³³ You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape the sentence of hell?

¹⁴ After John was arrested, Jesus went into Galilee proclaiming the good news from God,

¹⁵ He said to them, "Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to all the creation. ¹⁶ Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. ¹⁷ And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; ¹⁸ they will pick up snakes with their hands; even if they drink any deadly poison it will not hurt them; and they will place their hands on the sick, and they will recover." ¹⁹ After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. ²⁰ Then they went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word by the signs that accompanied it. Amen.

² just as they were handed down to us by the initial eyewitnesses and servants of the word.

⁶⁹ He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David,

¹⁹ "What things?" He asked. "The things about Jesus the Nazarene," they said, "who was a Prophet powerful in work and word before God and all the people;

⁴⁷ and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ You are witnesses of these things.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. ¹⁸ Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

²⁷ And you also must testify, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

²² beginning from John’s baptism until the day Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”

²² Men of Israel, listen to this message: Jesus of Nazareth was a man certified by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know.

¹² Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

⁴⁰ but God raised him up on the third day and caused him to be seen, ⁴¹ not by all the people, but by the witnesses God had chosen beforehand, by us who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead. ⁴² And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.

³ So when you, O man, pass judgment on others, yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?

³ While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

¹⁵ It is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinnersof whom I am the foremost.

¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

² But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.

¹ Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be deemed to have fallen short of it.

¹¹ Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fail by following their example of disobedience.

⁹ and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him,

²⁵ Therefore He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them. ²⁶ We need such a high priest {— } one who is holy, innocent, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.

²⁸ Anyone who rejected the Law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. ²⁹ How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

²⁵ See to it that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven?

¹⁷ For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God? ¹⁸ And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”

¹⁶ They told the mountains and the rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, ¹⁷ for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?"

¹⁰ They cried out in a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the lamb!"

³⁵ And all the people of the earth are as nothing: he does his pleasure in the army of heaven and among the people of the earth: and no one is able to keep back his hand, or say to him, What are you doing?

²⁰ Then they went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word by the signs that accompanied it. Amen.

⁴⁸ Jeshu saith to him, If signs and wonders you do not SEE, you will not believe.

²⁶ When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—He will testify about Me.

³² God has raised this Jesus to life, to which we are all witnesses. ³³ Exalted, then, to the right hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.

¹⁵ You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses of the fact. ¹⁶ By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know has been made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through Him that has given him this complete healing in your presence.

¹⁰ then let this be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.

³ So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who affirmed the message of His grace by enabling them to perform signs and wonders.

¹¹ God did extraordinary miracles through the hands of Paul, ¹² so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and the diseases and evil spirits left them.

¹⁸ I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obedience by word and deed, ¹⁹ by the power of signs and wonders, and by the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

⁴ There are different gifts, but the same Spirit. ⁵ There are different ministries, but the same Lord. ⁶ There are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all men. ⁷ Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. ⁸ To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit, ⁹ to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, ¹⁰ to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. ¹¹ All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines.

⁵ he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will,

⁹ he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,

⁸ This is why it says: “When He ascended on high, He led captives away, and gave gifts to men.” ⁹ What does “He ascended” mean, except that He also descended to the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He who descended is the very one who ascended above all the heavens, in order to fill all things. ¹¹ And it was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,

⁵ who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age—

¹³ But in keeping with God’s promise, we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

¹⁵ Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever."

²⁴ And Joseph said to his brothers, "I am about to die, but God will certainly visit you and bring you up from this land to the land that he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob."

¹⁷ What is man, that thou makest much of him? and that thou settest thy heart upon him? ¹⁸ »For you examine us every morning and test us every moment.

¹⁴ "What is man, that he could be pure? Or he who is born of woman, that he could be righteous?

⁶ how much less man who is a maggot; and the son of man who is a worm!

⁴ what is man, that You are mindful of him, and the son of man, that You care for him? ⁵ You made him a little lower than the angels, You have crowned him with glory and honor; ⁶ You make him ruler over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet: ⁷ all sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field; ⁸ the birds of the air, and fishes of the sea; whatever travel the paths of the seas.

³ LORD, what is man, that you care for him? Or the son of man, that you think of him?

³ Don’t put your trust in princes, in a son of man in whom there is no help. ⁴ When they stop breathing, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans evaporate!

¹⁷ Before him all the nations are as nothing! He regards them as worthless and less than nothing.

¹² "I, even I, am the one who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal men? The sons of men are like grass!

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and redeemed his people;

⁷⁸ because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the Dawn will visit us from on high,

¹⁶ All were seized with awe and glorified God. "A great prophet has appeared among us," they said, "God has visited his people."

⁴ For somewhere He has spoken about the seventh day in this manner: “And on the seventh day God rested from all His works.”

⁶ As he also says in another place, You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.

¹¹ trying to determine the time and setting to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.

⁵ You made him a little lower than the angels, You have crowned him with glory and honor;

¹ "But now they mock me; men who are far younger than I, whose fathers I've would have hated to entrust with my own sheep dogs. ² Of what use is the strength of their hands to me? all force is gone from them. ³ Withered up through want and hunger, they flee into waste places long since desolate and desert: ⁴ They pluck salt herbs by the bushes. The roots of the broom are their food. ⁵ they are driven from the midst; they shouted against them as a thief; ⁶ They dwelt in the clifts of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks. ⁷ They bray among the bushes; they huddle together under the nettles; ⁸ Sons of fools, and sons of nameless sires, they are driven out of the land. ⁹ "But now I am their mocking song, and I have become a byword for them. ¹⁰ They abhor me, they keep their distance from me, and do not hesitate to spit in my face. ¹¹ But God has loosened his cord and afflicted me; so they've cast off all restraints in my presence. ¹² On the right hand the brood rises up; they put me to flight, and they build up their siege ramps against me.

¹ Can you draw out the leviathan with a fishhook, Or hold down his tongue with a line? ² Can you put a reed rope into his nose, or pierce his jaw with a thorn? ³ Would he make many supplications to you, Or speak to you with tender words? ⁴ Will he make an agreement with you, so that you may take him as a servant for ever? ⁵ Will you play with it as with birds and put it on a leash for your girls? ⁶ Will traders barter for him? Will they part him among the merchants? ⁷ Can you fill his skin with harpoons? or his head with fish spears? ⁸ Lay your hand on him, and you'll remember the struggle. You'll never do that again! ⁹ Behold, one's hope is proved a lie; Even at the sight of him one is hurled down. ¹⁰ "No one is as fierce that he would dare stir him up. Who then is able to stand against me? ¹¹ "Who has preceded me that I should pay him? Everything under heaven is mine. ¹² I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, nor his mighty strength, nor his graceful frame. ¹³ Who can strip off his outer armor? Who can approach him with a bridle? ¹⁴ Who can open the doors of his face? round about his teeth is terror ¹⁵ Its back has scales of shields; it is shut up closely as with a seal. ¹⁶ One is so near to another, that no air can come between them. ¹⁷ They are joined one to another; they cling together and cannot be separated. ¹⁸ "His snorting releases flashes of light; his eyes are like the rays of the dawn. ¹⁹ Torches go from its mouth; sparks of fire shoot out. ²⁰ Smoke billows from his nostrils; like a boiling pot or burning reeds. ²¹ His breath kindles coals, and a flame goes forth from his mouth. ²² "Strength abides in its neck, and dismay dances before it. ²³ "The folds of its flesh cling together; it is firmly cast and immovable. ²⁴ "Its heart is as hard as stone, as hard as the lower millstone. ²⁵ When he raises himself up, the mighty are afraid. They retreat before his thrashing. ²⁶ The sword of him that reaches him cannot avail: neither the spear, the dart, nor the javelin. ²⁷ He regards iron as straw, and bronze as rotten wood. ²⁸ The arrow can’t make him flee. Sling stones are like chaff to him. ²⁹ Clubs are counted as stubble. He laughs at the rushing of the javelin. ³⁰ His undersides are like sharp potsherds, leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge. ³¹ It makes the deep boil like a cooking pot; it makes the sea like a pot of ointment. ³² Behind it, it leaves a glistening wake; one would think that the deep has gray hair. ³³ "On the ground it has no equal— a creature without fear. ³⁴ It observes all the lofty; it is king over all that are proud."

⁶ "But I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill."

⁶ You make him ruler over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet:

¹⁴ And there was given him dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which will not pass away and his kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.

¹⁸ Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

³⁵ The Father loves the Son and has put everything in his hands.

³ Jesus knew that the Father had delivered all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was returning to God.

²⁴ Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power. ²⁵ For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

²⁷ For “God has put everything under His feet.” Now when it says that everything has been put under Him, this clearly does not include the One who put everything under Him.

²¹ far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come. ²² And he subordinated all things under his feet, and appointed him head over all things for the church,

⁹ Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the name above all names, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, ¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹³ But to which of the angels did he ever say, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"?

⁵ For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking.

²² who has gone to heaven and is at God's right hand, with angels, hierarchies, and powers made subject to him.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,

¹⁸ the Living One. I was dead, and behold, now I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of Death and of Hades.

¹¹ And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels about the throne, and about the beasts and the elders, and I heard thousand thousands, ¹² In a loud voice they said: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!” ¹³ And I heard every creature in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever.”

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed. He will bruise your head and you will bruise his heel.

³ You go before him with wonderful blessings, and put a crown of fine gold on his head. ⁴ He asked life from you; you gave it to him— length of days forever and ever. ⁵ By thy salvation his glory is great. Thou wilt confer on him honour and majesty.

¹⁴ Therefore the LORD will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (God with us).

¹ And a shoot will come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from its roots will bear fruit.

² He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him. Nothing in his appearance will make us desire him. ³ He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised, and we esteemed him not ⁴ He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows. We considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. ⁵ But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. ⁷ He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he did not open his mouth. ⁸ By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who [among them] considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living? for the transgression of my people was he stricken ⁹ He made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. ¹⁰ It was the LORD's will to allow him to be crushed. Even though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

²⁸ And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin.

²⁸ Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”

¹ And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power."

²⁷ But I tell you truthfully, some who are standing here will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

⁵² Then the Jews said to him, "Now we really know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and so did the prophets, but you say, 'If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.'

¹⁷ The reason the Father loves Me is that I lay down My life in order to take it up again.

³² But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself."

³³ Exalted, then, to the right hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus. You handed Him over and rejected Him before Pilate, even though he had decided to release Him.

⁸ But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.

¹⁸ The result of one trespass was condemnation for all men. The result of righteousness was justification (acquittal), which brings life for all men.

³ For what the Law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh,

³² He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, freely give us all things?

¹⁵ And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

²¹ God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

⁴ But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,

⁷ but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. ⁸ And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to deatheven death on a cross. ⁹ Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the name above all names,

⁶ who gave himself as a ransom for allthe testimony given at the proper time. ⁷ You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor

²⁵ Therefore He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.

³ Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. So it was necessary for this One also to have something to offer.

⁵ Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;

²¹ Through Him you believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and glorified Him; and so your faith and hope are in God.

² And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

⁹ This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

⁹ They sang a new song: "You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slaughtered. With your blood you purchased people for God from every tribe, language, people, and nation.

¹² His eyes are a flame of fire, and on his head are many crowns. He had a name written which no one knows but he himself.

²⁵ Far be it from you to do such a thing as this, to kill the righteous with the wicked, that the righteous would be as the wicked! Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do justice?"

¹⁴ And he said to him, "Truly I am the commander of the army of the LORD. Now I have come." And Joshua fell facedown to the ground and worshipped, and said to him, "What does my lord say to his servant?" ¹⁵ The commander of the LORD's army said to Joshua, "Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy." And Joshua did so.

⁴ The LORD has made everything for its own end—yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.

²¹ the people which I formed for myself, that they might declare my praise.

⁴ Look! I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and a commander for the peoples.

¹⁰ But although they sold themselves among the nations, I will now gather them; and they begin to waste away because of the oppression of the king of mighty ones.

¹³ He who breaks open the way goes up before them. They break through the gate, and go out. And their king passes on before them, with the LORD at their head. ¹⁴ “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests!”

³² But Jesus replied, “Go tell that fox, ‘Look, I will keep driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach My goal.’

²⁶ Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and enter his glory?"

⁴⁶ And He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,

⁵² and not only for the nation, but also for the scattered children of God, to gather them together into one.

³⁰ When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said: It is finished! And he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

¹⁵ You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses of the fact.

³¹ God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior, to give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.

²⁵ God presented Him as an atoning sacrifice through faith in His blood, in order to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance He had passed over the sins committed beforehand. ²⁶ He did this to demonstrate His righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and to justify the one who has faith in Jesus.

¹⁴ And all those who are guided by the Spirit of God are sons of God. ¹⁵ For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the spirit of sonship, in which we cry, Abba, Father. ¹⁶ The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. ¹⁷ Now if we are children, we are heirs heirs of God and co-heirs with the Messiah if, in fact, we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. ¹⁸ I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us.

²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. ³⁰ And those He predestined He also called, those He called He also justified, those He justified He also glorified.

²³ What if He did this to make the riches of His glory known to the vessels of His mercy, whom He prepared in advance for glory—

²⁵ As He says in Hosea: “I will call them My people who are not My people, and I will call her My beloved who is not My beloved,” ²⁶ "And it will happen that in the very place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' they will be called 'sons of the living God.'"

³⁶ For from him, and through him, and to him are all things. To him be the glory for ever! Amen.

⁷ But we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and which God destined for our glory before the ages.

⁶ yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we exist. And there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we exist.

¹⁸ And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

¹⁷ For our light and temporary affliction is producing for us an eternal glory that far outweighs our troubles.

¹⁸ All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

¹⁸ "I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty."

²⁶ You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

⁵ he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, ⁶ to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the Beloved One. ⁷ In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; ⁸ that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

⁷ in order that in the coming ages, he might show the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness upon us in Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ His purpose was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,

¹⁶ For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him. ¹⁷ He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

⁴ When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

¹⁰ Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

⁸ Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered, ⁹ and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him,

²⁰ where Jesus our forerunner has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.

²⁶ We need such a high priest {— } one who is holy, innocent, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.

²⁸ For the Law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the Law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

² Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹² It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they foretold the things now announced by those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

¹ The elders among you I exhort, who am a fellowelder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, who am also a sharer in the glory that is to be revealed;

¹⁰ And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

¹ Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. ² Beloved, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is.

¹¹ You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for you have created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.

⁹ After this I looked, and there was a vast throng that no one could count from every nation, tribe, people, and tongue, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

⁴⁸ but he replied, "Who is my mother and who are my brothers?" ⁴⁹ Pointing to His disciples, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers. ⁵⁰ For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

⁴⁰ And the King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brethren to go to Galilee; and there they will see me."

³⁸ For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in His Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

²⁶ If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

¹⁹ For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the truth.

²¹ that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

¹⁷ Jesus said to her, "Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"

²⁶ From one man He made every nation of men, to inhabit the whole earth; and He determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their lands.

²⁸ ‘For in Him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are His offspring.’

²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

¹⁴ Therefore, since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil,

¹⁰ And by that will, we have been sanctified through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

¹⁴ Because by one offering he has made complete for ever those who are made holy.

¹⁶ Instead, they were longing for a better country, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

¹² And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to sanctify the people through his own blood.

²² I will declare your name to my brothers. Among the assembly, I will praise you.

²⁵ From you comes my praise in the great assembly. I will pay my vows before those who fear him.

¹⁰ I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart. I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation. I have not concealed Your grace and Your truth from the great assembly.

¹ Praise the LORD! I will thank the LORD with all my heart; in the council of the upright, and of the assembly.

²⁰ “I have spoken openly to the world,” Jesus answered. “I always taught in the synagogues and at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret.

⁵ Then Esau lifted up his eyes and saw the women and the children and said, "Who are these with you?" And he said, "The children whom God has graciously given your servant."

⁹ He answered: They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he said: Bring them to me, that I may bless them.

³ God is my rock in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge. My savior, you save me from violence.

¹ Michtam. Of David. Keep me safe, O God: for in you I have put my faith.

² the LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

⁷ How precious is your gracious love, God! The children of men take refuge in the shadow of your wings. ⁸ They are refreshed with the fullness of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights.

² I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."

³ Children are an inheritance from the LORD. They are a blessing from him.

¹⁷ I will wait for the LORD, who hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will trust in him. ¹⁸ I am here with the children the LORD has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the LORD Almighty, who lives on Mount Zion.

⁷ For the Sovereign LORD will help me. Therefore I have not been confounded. Therefore I have set my face like a flint and I know that I will not be put to shame. ⁸ He who justifies me is near. Who will bring charges against me? Let us stand up together. Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me. ⁹ Behold, the Sovereign LORD will help Me; who is he who shall condemn Me? Lo, they all shall wear out like a garment; the moth shall eat them.

¹⁰ It was the LORD's will to allow him to be crushed. Even though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, 'I am the Son of God.'"

²⁹ My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

⁶ I have revealed Your name to those You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours; You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. ⁷ Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. ⁸ For I have given them the words You gave Me, and they have received them. They knew with certainty that I came from You, and they believed that You sent Me. ⁹ I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. ¹⁰ All I have is Yours, and all You have is Mine; and in them I have been glorified. ¹¹ I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, protect them by Your name, the name You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one. ¹² While I was with them, I protected and preserved them by Your name, the name You gave Me. Not one of them has been lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.

¹⁵ Even if you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.

⁸ He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces. He will take away the disgrace of His people from the earth. the LORD has spoken!

¹² Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great and he will divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors. Yet he bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors.

¹⁴ I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be your plagues; O grave, I will be your destruction: pity shall be hid from my eyes.

⁴¹ Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

¹⁴ The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

²⁴ Truly, truly, I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a seed; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

³¹ Now is the judgment of this world; now the prince of this world will be cast out. ³² But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." ³³ He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.

⁹ For this reason Christ died and returned to life, so that He might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

⁵⁰ Now I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

⁵⁴ When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come to pass: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” ⁵⁵ Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? ⁵⁶ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. ⁵⁷ But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

¹⁵ And having disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

¹⁶ By common confession, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was proclaimed among the nations, was believed in throughout the world, was taken up in glory.

¹⁰ but has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

¹⁸ Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin.

¹⁵ For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

⁸ He who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. ⁹ Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. ¹⁰ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil; for every one who does not work righteousness is not a child of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

¹⁰ Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer tribulation for ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

⁹ And the great dragon was hurled down—the ancient serpent called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

² He seized the dragon, the ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

¹¹ "Terrors startle him on every side and chase him at his heels.

¹⁴ "He is torn from the security of his tent and marched off to the king of terrors.

¹⁷ "For deep darkness is morning to all of them. They are friends with the terrors of deep darkness.

²¹ "His flesh wastes away to nothing, and his bones, once hidden, now stick out. ²² Yea, his soul draws near to the Pit, and his life to the dealers of death. ²³ "Yet if there is an angel on his side as a mediator, one out of a thousand, to tell a man what is right for him, ²⁴ to be gracious to him and say: 'Spare him from going down to the pit. I have found a ransom for him!' ²⁵ "His flesh is renewed like a child's. It is restored as in the days of his youth. ²⁶ "He prays to God and finds favor with him. He sees God's face and shouts for joy! God restores him to his righteous state. ²⁷ "He comes to men and says: 'I sinned, and perverted what was right, but I did not get what I deserved.' ²⁸ "He redeemed me from going down to the pit, and I will live to enjoy the light.

¹⁹ to deliver their soul from death, to keep them alive in famine.

⁴ My heart is in turmoil within me. The terrors of death have seized me.

¹³ For you have delivered me from death, and my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God in the light of the living.

¹⁹ How they are suddenly destroyed! They are completely swept away with terrors.

⁴⁸ What man can live on and not see death? Can he deliver his life from the power of Sheol? Selah

⁷⁴ to be redeemed from the hand of our enemies; and that we should worship before him, without fear, ⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

¹⁵ For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the spirit of sonship, in which we cry, Abba, Father.

²¹ that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.

⁵⁰ Now I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. ⁵¹ Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— ⁵² in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. ⁵³ For the perishable must be clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.

¹⁰ He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. In Him we have placed our hope that He will yet again deliver us,

²¹ Tell me, you who want to be under the Law, do you not understand what the Law says?

⁷ For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power and love and self-discipline.

¹⁸ And by your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice."

¹ A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. ² Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, ³ Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar; Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Aram, ⁴ Ram the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon. ⁵ Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab; Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth; Obed the father of Jesse, ⁶ Jesse the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife; ⁷ Solomon the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asa, ⁸ Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram the father of Uzziah, ⁹ Uzziah the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah, ¹⁰ Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah, ¹¹ and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon. ¹² After the exile to Babylon: Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, ¹³ Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor, ¹⁴ Azor the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud, ¹⁵ Eliud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob, ¹⁶ and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. ¹⁷ In all, then, there were fourteen generations from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.

²⁵ Circumcision has value if you observe the Law, but if you break the Law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.

¹⁶ Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may rest on grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. ¹⁷ As it is written, "I have made you a father of many nations." This is in the presence of him whom he believed: God, who gives life to the dead, and calls the things that are not, as though they were. ¹⁸ Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.” ¹⁹ Without weakening in his faith, he acknowledged the decrepitness of his body (since he was about a hundred years old) and the lifelessness of Sarah’s womb. ²⁰ Yet he did not waver through disbelief in the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, ²¹ being fully persuaded that God was able to do what He had promised. ²² This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness." ²³ But the words, "it was reckoned to him," were written not for his sake alone, ²⁴ But also for us. It shall be credited to those of us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. ²⁵ He was delivered over to death for our trespasses and was raised to life for our justification.

¹⁶ The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but “and to your seed,” meaning One, who is Christ.

²⁹ And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.

¹⁶ Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and their oath serves as a confirmation to end all argument.

¹⁰ Our fathers disciplined us for a short time as they thought best, but God disciplines us for our good, so that we may share in His holiness.

²⁰ He was known before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in the last times for your sake.

³⁰ No sin offering, of which any of the blood is brought into the Tent of Meeting to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be eaten: it shall be burned with fire.

¹⁵ He killed it; and Moses took the blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar with his finger, and purified the altar, and poured out the blood at the base of the altar, and sanctified it, to make atonement for it.

²⁴ and then the priests slaughtered them and purged the altar with their blood as a sin offering to atone for all Israel, because the king ordered that the burnt offering and the sin offering be made for all Israel.

⁵ Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his waist.

¹⁵ "'You must take one sheep out of every two hundred from the well-watered pastures of Israel. You must sacrifice them with grain offerings, burnt offerings, and fellowship offerings to make peace with the LORD,' declares the Sovereign LORD.

¹⁷ It shall be the prince’s part to give the burnt offerings, the meal offerings, and the drink offerings, in the feasts, and on the new moons, and on the Sabbaths, in all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel. He shall prepare the sin offering, the meal offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make atonement for the house of Israel.”

²⁰ And so you shall do on the seventh day in the month for anyone doing wrong inadvertently or due to ignorance, and so you must make atonement for the temple.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to put an end to the transgression, and to make an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place.

¹⁰ For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!

¹⁷ Therefore I exult in Christ Jesus in my service to God.

¹⁸ All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: ¹⁹ that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. ²⁰ So then, we are Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God! ²¹ God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

¹⁶ and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by which he put to death their enmity.

²¹ Once you were alienated from God and were hostile in your minds because of your evil deeds.

¹¹ For he who makes holy and they who are made holy are all of one. For this cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers,

² He was faithful to the One who appointed Him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.

⁵ Now Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house, testifying to what would be spoken later.

¹⁴ Therefore, since we have such a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we profess.

¹ Then Jesus was led by the spirit into the desert, to be tempted by the devil. ² After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. ³ The tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” ⁴ But he answered, "It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' " ⁵ Then the devil took him to the Holy City and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. ⁶ “If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’” ⁷ Jesus replied, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” ⁸ Again the devil took him to a very high mountain, and he showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor, ⁹ “All this I will give You,” he said, “if You will fall down and worship me.” ¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, "Go away, Satan. For it is written, 'You are to worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'"

³⁷ He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. ³⁸ Then He said to them, “My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.” ³⁹ Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.”

⁵³ While I was with you day after day in the temple, you didn't lay a hand on me. But this is your hour, when darkness reigns!"

¹³ No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.

⁷ And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me. ⁸ Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. ⁹ But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. ¹⁰ That is why, for Christ's sake, I am content in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

²¹ who, by the power that enables Him to subject all things to Himself, will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body.

¹² This is why I am suffering as I am, but I am not ashamed of it, for I know whom I have trusted and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have intrusted to him for that Day.

¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin. ¹⁶ Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

² He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and misguided, since he himself is beset by weakness.

⁷ During the days of Jesus’ earthly life, He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.

⁹ if all this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.

²⁴ Now to Him who is able to keep them from stumbling and to present them before His glorious presence without fault and with exultation—

¹⁰ Because you have kept My command to endure with patience, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
