¹⁰ And the servant took ten of his master's camels, and all sorts of good things of his master's, and went to Mesopotamia, to the town of Nahor.

³¹ Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot, son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Haran, they settled there.

⁴³ So now, my son, do what I say: go quickly to Haran, to my brother Laban;

⁴ Jacob asked the shepherds: "Where are you from?" They answered: "We are from Haran." ⁵ He said to them, "Do you know Laban, the son of Nahor?" They said, "We know him."

⁴ And Joseph found favour in his eyes, and attended on him; and he set him over his house, and all that he had he gave into his hand. ⁵ And it happened that from the time he appointed him over his house and over all that he had, the LORD blessed the house of the Egyptian on account of Joseph. And the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house and in the field. ⁶ He left all that he had in Joseph's hand. He did not concern himself with anything, except for the food which he ate. Joseph was well-built and handsome.

⁸ But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Look, my master does not worry about what is in the house, and everything he owns he has put in my hand. ⁹ No one is greater in this house than I am, and he has not kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”

²² And the keeper of the prison put all the prisoners under Joseph's control, and he was responsible for whatever was done there. ²³ The jailer did not worry about anything, because the LORD was with Joseph and made him successful in all that he did.

⁴ Because they gave you no bread or water on your way, when you came out of Egypt: and they got Balaam, the son of Peor, from Pethor in Aram-naharaim to put curses on you.
