¹¹ "'Therefore the LORD says: 'I am going to bring a disaster on them that they cannot escape. Although they will cry out to me, I will not listen to them.

¹² Although they fast, I won't listen to their cry, and although they offer burnt offerings and grain offerings, I won't accept them. Instead, I'll put an end to them with the sword, with famine, and with a plague."

¹¹ '"As I live, declares the Sovereign LORD,' 'because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable idols and with all your abominations I will withdraw, and my eye will have no pity and I will not spare you. ¹² '"One third of your people will die by plague or be consumed by famine! One third will fall by the sword! One third I will scatter to every wind! I will unsheathe a sword behind them (war will follow them). ¹³ '"I will unleash my anger. I will use my fury against you, and I will get revenge. When my fury is unleashed against you, you will know that I, the LORD, spoke to you with all my zeal.

⁴ '"I will not look on you with pity or spare you. I will repay you for your conduct and the detestable practices among you. THEN YOU WILL KNOW THAT I AM the LORD.' ⁵ "The Sovereign LORD says: 'Disaster! An unheard-of disaster is coming. ⁶ '"The end has come! The end has come! It has become active against you. It has come! ⁷ '"Doom has come upon you who dwell in the land. The time has come, the day is near. There is panic, not joy, upon the mountains. ⁸ '"I am about to pour out my wrath on you and spend my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices. ⁹ '"I will not look on you with pity or spare you (my eye will not feel sorry for you). I will repay you in accordance with your conduct and the detestable practices among you. Then you will know that it is I, the LORD, who strikes the blow.

⁵ I heard God say to the other men: "Follow him through the city and kill. Spare no one! Have mercy on no one.

¹⁰ And I also, Mine eye does not pity, nor do I spare; their way on their own head I have put.'"

⁴² And I will satisfy my rage on you, and my jealousy will turn away from you, and I will be calm, and I will not be angry any longer.

¹³ In your uncleanness is obscene conduct, because I cleansed you, but you were not clean from your uncleanness; you will not be clean again until ⌊I fully vent my rage⌋ on you.

⁴ "They will cry to the LORD but he will not answer them. In fact, he will hide his face from them at that time because they have done evil things."

² The LORD is a jealous God and avenges. The LORD avenges and is full of wrath. The LORD takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he maintains wrath against his enemies.
