His descendants will possess it. ²⁵ And the Amalekites and the Canaanites live in the valleys; tomorrow turn and set out for the desert by way of the Red Sea." ²⁶ Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron: ²⁷ How long doth this wicked multitude murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. ²⁸ Say to them, 'Surely as I live,' declares the LORD, 'just as you spoke in my hearing, so I will do to you; ²⁹ in this desert your corpses will fall, and all your counted ones, according to all your number, from twenty years old and above who grumbled against me. ³⁰ none of you, shall enter into the land, as to which I uplifted my hand to give you an abode therein,—save Caleb son of Jephunneh, and Joshua, son of Nun:

⁶⁴ And among these there was not a man of those counted by Moses and Aaron the priest, who counted the Israelites in the desert of Sinai. ⁶⁵ for the LORD had said to them that they would die, yea die in the wilderness. And not a man of them was left save Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

³⁴ »the LORD heard what you said. He was angry and solemnly swore: ³⁵ "'Not one man of this evil generation will see that good land, which I swore to give your fathers,

¹¹ So I swore by an oath in my anger, Shall they enter into my rest, no.

²⁶ So he lifted up his hand unto them, that he would let them fall in the desert;

²³ Again I lifted up my hand upon them in the wilderness, to disperse them among the nations, and scatter them through the countries:

¹¹ So I swore on oath in My anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.’”

¹⁸ And to whom did He swear that they would never enter His rest? Was it not to those who disobeyed?

³ Now we who have believed enter that rest. As for the others, it is just as God has said: “So I swore on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.’” And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world.
