¹¹ But Moses said to God, "Who am I? How can I go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?"

¹⁰ Moses said to the LORD, “O Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.” ¹¹ the LORD said to him: "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD? ¹² Now go and I - I am with your mouth and direct you what to word. ¹³ Moses said, “Oh, Lord, please send someone else.”

¹² And Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, "Look, the Israelites do not listen to me, and how will Pharaoh listen to me, since I am a poor speaker?"

¹⁸ David said to Saul, "Who am I and what is my life or my father's family in Israel that I should be the king's son-in-law?"

¹⁸ Then King David went in and sat before the LORD. And he said, Who am I, O Sovereign LORD? And what is my house, that You have brought me here?

⁷ Now, LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am but a little child. I do not know how to go out or come in.

⁹ So give your servant an understanding mind to govern your people, so I can discern between good and evil. Otherwise, how shall I be able to govern this great people of yours?"

⁵ "Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips (a sinner) and I live among a people of unclean (filthy) lips (speech) (language). My eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty." ⁶ Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. ⁷ And he touched it on my mouth, and said, See, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin is covered. ⁸ And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? And I said, Here am I: send me.

⁶ I, Jeremiah, said: "Sovereign LORD, I do not know how to speak. I am only a child!"

²³ When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his brothers, the sons of Israel. ²⁴ When he saw one of them being mistreated, he defended him and avenged the man who was being mistreated by killing the Egyptian. ²⁵ He assumed his brothers would understand that God was using him to deliver them, but they did not.

¹⁶ To the one we are the aroma of death to death; and to the other the aroma of life to life. And who is equal to such a calling?

⁵ Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim that anything comes from us, but our competence comes from God.
