¹ Be imitators of God, therefore, as beloved children, ² and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. ³ But among you, as is proper among the saints, there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality or impurity or greed. ⁴ Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or crude joking, which are out of character, but rather thanksgiving. ⁵ For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure, or greedy person (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. ⁶ Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on the sons of disobedience. ⁷ Therefore do not be partners with them; ⁸ For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, ⁹ for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth. ¹⁰ Test and prove what pleases the Lord. ¹¹ Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. ¹² For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. ¹³ But everything that is exposed to the light becomes visible, ¹⁴ for the light is making everything visible. That is why it says, "Wake up, O sleeper! Arise from the dead, and the Messiah will shine on you.'' ¹⁵ Be strictly careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise. ¹⁶ making the most of every opportunity, because these days are evil. ¹⁷ Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. ¹⁸ Do not get drunk with wine, which is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, ¹⁹ Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord, ²⁰ always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. ²¹ Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. ²² Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. ²³ For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is himself the Savior. ²⁴ Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. ²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her ²⁶ to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, ²⁷ and to present her to Himself as a glorious church, without stain or wrinkle or any such blemish, but holy and blameless. ²⁸ In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. ²⁹ Indeed, no one ever hated his own body, but he nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church. ³⁰ for we are members of his body. ³¹ “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” ³² This mystery is profound, but I am speaking about Christ and the church. ³³ Nevertheless, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

⁴⁵ "'I am the LORD! I brought you out of Egypt to be your God. Be holy because I am holy.

²⁰ "Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? Indeed, as often as I've spoken about him, I surely still remember him. Therefore I deeply yearn for him. I'll surely have great compassion on him," declares the LORD.

¹⁰ The number of the children of Israel will be like the sand of the sea that cannot be measured or counted; and in the place where it is said to them, "You are not my people," it will be said to them, "Children of the living God."

⁴⁵ that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

⁴⁸ Be perfect, therefore, as your Heavenly Father is perfect.

³⁵ But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. ³⁶ Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

¹² But to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

³² Be kind and tender-hearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.

¹² Therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.

¹⁵ But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, ¹⁶ for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

¹ Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. ² Beloved, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is.

¹¹ Dear friends, if God has so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

²¹ the LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, for the intent of his heart is evil from childhood. I will never again destroy every living creature, as I have done.

⁹ but he shall wash its innards and its legs with water. The priest shall burn all of it on the altar, for a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to the LORD.

¹³ But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it on the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet smell to the LORD.

¹⁷ He shall tear it by its wings, but shall not divide it apart. The priest shall burn it on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to the LORD.

¹⁶ The priest shall burn them on the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire, for a pleasant aroma; all the fat is the LORD's.

²¹ I hate, I despise your feasts, and I can’t stand your solemn assemblies.

²⁸ just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

⁵¹ I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And this bread, which I will give for the life of the world, is My flesh.”

³⁴ A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another.

¹² This is my command, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. ¹³ Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

²⁵ He was delivered over to death for our trespasses and was raised to life for our justification.

³ For what the Law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh,

³⁷ No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

¹⁵ If your brother is distressed by what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother, for whom Christ died. ¹⁶ Do not allow what you consider good, then, to be spoken of as evil.

⁷ Get rid of the old yeast, that you may be a new unleavened batch, as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.

¹⁴ Do everything in love.

¹⁵ For we are to God the sweet aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

¹⁴ For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that One died for all, therefore all died. ¹⁵ And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.

⁴ who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

¹⁷ so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

¹⁹ and to know Christ's love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

² with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,

¹⁵ rather, speaking the truth in love, let us in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, Christ;

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her

¹⁴ And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

⁹ Now about brotherly love, you do not need anyone to write to you, because you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another.

⁶ who gave himself as a ransom for allthe testimony given at the proper time.

¹² Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for other believers in your speech, behavior, love, faithfulness, and purity.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds.

²⁵ Therefore He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them. ²⁶ We need such a high priest {— } one who is holy, innocent, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. ²⁷ Unlike the other high priests, He does not need to offer daily sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people; He sacrificed for sin once for all when He offered up Himself.

¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, purify our consciences from works of death, so that we may serve the living God!

²³ It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

²⁶ Otherwise, He would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

¹⁰ And by that will, we have been sanctified through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ Day after day every priest stands to minister and to offer again and again the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. ¹² But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, "he sat down at the right hand of God."

²¹ For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps, ²² "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth;" ²³ When they heaped abuse on Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats, but entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly. ²⁴ He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

⁸ Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

¹¹ This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. ¹² and not be like Cain who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous.

¹⁶ By this we know what love is: Jesus laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.

²³ And this is his commandment: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus the Messiah, and to love one another as he commanded us.

²⁰ If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. ²¹ Indeed, we have this Command from God-- 'He who loves God must also love his Brother.'

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,

⁹ They sang a new song: "You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slaughtered. With your blood you purchased people for God from every tribe, language, people, and nation.

²¹ "You shall look for capable men among the people, men who fear God, men of integrity who hate dishonest gain. You shall set these men over them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens.

¹⁷ You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is your neighbor's.

¹³ "Be careful to do all things that I have said to you; and do not invoke the name of other gods, neither let them be heard out of your mouth.

¹ While Israel remained at Shittim, the people indulged in sexual immorality with the Moabite women.

¹⁷ "None of the daughters of the sons of Israel shall be a temple prostitute. ¹⁸ You must not bring the hire of a prostitute or of a male prostitute into the house of the LORD your God for any vow, for both of these are an abomination to the LORD your God.

²¹ When I saw among the plunder a beautiful Babylonian robe, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, then I coveted them and took them. Behold, they are hidden in the ground in the middle of my tent, with the silver under it.”

³ And his sons did not walk in his ways, but turned aside after dishonest gain, and took bribes, and perverted justice.

³ For the wicked one boasts about his own desire; he blesses the greedy and despises the LORD.

³⁶ Turn my heart toward your statutes, not toward selfish gain.

¹⁶ A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment. One who hates ill-gotten gain will have long days.

¹³ For from the least of them even to the greatest, all are given to covetousness: and from the prophet even to the priest, all are guilty of deceit.

¹⁰ Therefore I will give their wives to others, their fields to conquerors, because from the smallest to the greatest, all of them make profit for unlawful gain, from prophet to priest, all of them practice deceit.

¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart are not, Except on your dishonest gain, And on shedding of innocent blood, And on oppression, and on doing of violence."

³¹ And they come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words. But they will not do them. For with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their unjust gain.

² They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and they take them away. They oppress a man and his house; a man and his inheritance.

¹⁹ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, and slander.

²¹ For from within the hearts of men come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, ²² Greed, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, haughtiness, folly;

¹⁵ And He said to them, “Watch out! Guard yourselves against every form of greed, for a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

¹⁴ The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all of this and were scoffing at Jesus.

²⁰ Instead, we should write and tell them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals, and from blood.

³³ I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.

²⁹ They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and hatred. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips,

¹³ Do not present the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and present the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness.

² Welcome her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her with anything she may need from you. For she has been a great help to many people, including me.

¹ It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: a man has his father's wife.

¹⁰ not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, greedy, robbers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. ¹¹ But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a verbal abuser, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

⁹ Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit to or perform homosexual acts, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

¹³ “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,” but God will destroy them both. The body is not intended for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

¹⁸ Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a man can commit is outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.

⁸ We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.

²¹ I am afraid that when I come again, my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of their acts of impurity, sexual immorality, and debauchery.

¹⁹ The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; ²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife, jealousy, fits of rage, selfishness, dissensions, factions, ²¹ and envy; drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

¹⁹ Having lost all sense of shame, they have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity, with a craving for more. ²⁰ But you did not learn Christ that way;

⁵ For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure, or greedy person (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

¹² For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.

²⁷ Nevertheless, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending side by side for the faith of the gospel,

⁵ Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire and greed, which is idolatry.

³ For it is God’s will that you should be dedicated to Him, [that is], you should avoid sexual immorality.

⁷ For God did not call us to be impure, but to be holy.

¹⁰ but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess to worship God.

³ not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

² People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

⁷ As God’s steward, an overseer must be above reproach—not self-absorbed, not quick tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not greedy for money.

¹¹ They must be silenced, for such men upset whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach, for the sake of dishonest gain.

³ Older women, likewise, are to be reverent in their behavior, not slanderers or addicted to much wine, but teachers of good.

¹⁶ See to it that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal.

⁴ Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. ⁵ Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”

² Be shepherds of God's flock that is among you, watching over it, not because you must but because you want to, and not greedily but eagerly, as God desires.

³ And in their greed they will exploit you with false words; from long ago their condemnation has not been idle, and their destruction has not been asleep.

¹⁰ Such punishment is specially reserved for those who indulge the corrupt desires of the flesh and despise authority. Bold and self-willed, these men are unafraid to slander angelic majesties.

¹⁴ They have eyes full of adultery, that never cease from sin; they entice unstable souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat food sacrificed to idols and to practice sexual immorality.

²¹ Even though I have given her time to repent of her immorality, she is unwilling.

²¹ nor did they repent of their murders, their sorceries, their sexual immorality or their thefts.

⁸ But to the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”

¹⁵ Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

¹ Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous. Praise is fitting for the upright.

¹ A Psalm, A Song for the Sabbath Day. It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;

²¹ Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds for mankind. ²² Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and talk about his works with shouts of joy.

²³ A prudent man keeps his knowledge, but the hearts of fools proclaim foolishness.

² The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of fools gush out folly.

¹³ the beginning of the words of his mouth are folly, and the end of his mouth is wicked madness.

¹⁰ When Daniel learned that the written document had been signed, he went to an upstairs room in his house that had windows opened facing Jerusalem. Three times a day he would kneel down, pray, and give thanks to his God, just as he had previously done.

³⁴ You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. ³⁵ The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure. ³⁶ But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. ³⁷ For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

²² Greed, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, haughtiness, folly;

²³ (Some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks).

²⁸ And since they did not see fit to retain the knowledge of God, God gave them over to a base mind, to do what ought not to be done.

¹¹ as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the favor shown us in answer to their prayers.

¹⁵ Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

¹⁶ I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers

²⁹ Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up the one in need and bringing grace to those who listen.

¹⁹ Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord, ²⁰ always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁶ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

⁸ But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth.

¹⁵ And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to this; and be thankful. ¹⁶ Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. ¹⁷ And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

⁹ How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy that we have in God's presence because of you?

¹⁸ give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

⁸ Hence, although in Christ I would feel quite free to order you to do your duty,

¹⁵ Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that confess His name.

⁴ Consider ships as well. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot is inclined. ⁵ So also the tongue is a small member and makes great boasts. Behold, how great a forest is set on fire by a little spark! ⁶ The tongue also is a fire, a world of wickedness among the parts of the body. It pollutes the whole person, sets the course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. ⁷ All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, ⁸ But no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

⁷ and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men

¹⁸ With lofty but empty words, they appeal to the sensual passions of the flesh and entice the ones who are just escaping from those who live in error.

¹⁰ But these speak abusively against whatever they do not understand, while whatever they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals—by these things they are ruined.

¹³ They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.

¹⁹ The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery;

²¹ and envy; drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

¹⁷ Charge the rich of this world not to be arrogant, nor to set their hopes on such an uncertain thing as riches, but on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

⁴ Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.

¹³ "the LORD's anger blazed against the Israelites. Therefore he made them wander in the desert for forty years until the whole generation of those who had done evil in the LORD's presence was gone. ¹⁴ Behold you are risen up in your fathers' stead, a set of sinful men, to augment the wrath of the Lord against Israel.

¹⁷ Is not the sin of Peor enough for us, from which we have not cleansed ourselves today, and for which a plague came to the congregation of the LORD, ¹⁸ Now then, are you turning away from following the LORD today? If you rebel against the LORD today, by tomorrow he will be angry with the entire community of Israel.

²⁰ "You say you have counsel and [military] strength for war. These are only words. To whom are you looking for support that you rebel against me?

³¹ The wrath of God came on them, and put to death the fattest of them, and put an end to the young men of Israel.

¹⁴ In the prophets of Jerusalem I have also seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery and walk in lies. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one returns from his wickedness. They have all become to me as Sodom, and its inhabitants as Gomorrah.” ¹⁵ Therefore the LORD of Armies says concerning the prophets: “Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink poisoned water; for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone out into all the land.” ¹⁶ This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Do not listen to what the prophets are saying to you. They fill you with false hope. They speak about visions that they dreamed up. These visions are not from the LORD.

⁸ "This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'Do not let the prophets or the mediums among you trick you. Do not even listen to your own dreams. ⁹ For they are prophesying falsely to you in my name; I have not sent them,' declares the LORD.

³¹ "Send a message to all the exiles: 'This is what the LORD says about Shemaiah from Nehelam, "Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, even though I didn't send him, and has made you trust a lie,"

¹⁰ Because, yes, because they led my people astray, saying 'Peace!' And there is not peace. And when anyone builds a flimsy wall, look, they coat it with whitewash. ¹¹ »So tell those who plaster it over with whitewash, that it will fall. A flooding rain will come, and you, O hailstones, will fall; and a violent wind will break out. ¹² And when the wall has come down, will they not say to you, Where is the whitewash which you put on it? ¹³ "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'In my fury I will cause a storm to break out. In my anger rain will pour down, and hailstones will destroy the wall. ¹⁴ '"I will tear down the wall that the prophets covered up with whitewash. I will level it and expose its foundation. When the wall falls, they will be destroyed by it. Then you will know that I am the LORD.' ¹⁵ ‘»I will unleash my rage on the wall and on those who covered it up with paint. Then I will say to you: The wall is gone, and so are those who painted it. ¹⁶ the prophets of Israel who prophesy as to Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her. And there is no peace, declares the Sovereign LORD.

⁵ Thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who lead my people astray; for those who feed their teeth, they proclaim, "Peace." and whoever doesn't provide for their mouths, they prepare war against him:

⁴ Jesus answered, “See to it that no one deceives you.

²⁴ For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible.

⁵ So Jesus began to say to them, "Watch out that no one deceives you!

¹⁸ The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness.

⁷ Do not be deceived. God is not mocked! A man will harvest what he sows. ⁸ The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

² in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience. ³ We all lived among them at one time in the cravings of our flesh, indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath. ⁴ I say this so that no one may delude you with fine-sounding arguments.

⁸ See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ.

¹⁸ Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you with speculation about what he has seen. Such a man is puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind,

⁶ Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

³ Do not let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

¹⁰ and with all the deception of wickedness for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. ¹¹ For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie, ¹² and so that all may be condemned who have not believed the truth but have taken pleasure in wickedness.

¹⁹ So we see that they were not able to enter in because of their unbelief.

⁸ and, "A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall;" they stumble because they disobey the wordas they were desstined to do.

¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

²⁶ He said to the congregation: "Move away from the tents of these wicked men. Do not touch anything that belongs to them, or you’ll be swept away because of all their sins."

¹⁸ If you saw a thief, you ran along with him, and have cast in your lot with adulterers.

¹⁰ My son, if sinners entice you, do not comply with them;" ¹¹ If they say: 'Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood, let us lurk for the innocent without cause; ¹² Let's swallow them alive like Sheol, and whole like those who go down into the pit. ¹³ We'll find all valuable wealth. We'll fill our houses with plunder. ¹⁴ Throw in your lot with us. We'll all have one purse." ¹⁵ My son, do not go along with them, and keep your feet away from their paths! ¹⁶ for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood. ¹⁷ Look, it is useless to spread a net in full view of all the birds,

⁶ Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding."

²⁰ One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

⁶ This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus.

¹¹ Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

²² Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.

⁴ Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins or contract any of her plagues.

²⁰ Look to Your covenant, For haunts of violence fill the dark places of the land."

⁵ O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord!

² The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. Those who lived in the land of the shadow of death, on them the light has shined.

⁶ “I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness. I will hold your hand. I will keep you, and make you a covenant for the people, as a light for the nations, ⁷ To open eyes that are blind,—To bring forth Out of the dungeon the captive Out of the prison, the dwellers in darkness.

¹⁶ And I will lead the blind by a way they knew not; I will lead them in paths they never knew; I will make darkness into light before them, and crooked places a level place. I do these things to them and do not forsake them;

⁶ yes, he says, It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved of Israel. I will also give you for a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth.

⁹ to say to the bound, Come! To them in darkness, Expose! They graze in the ways with their pastures in all the barrens:

¹ Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. ² For look! darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples, but the LORD will rise on you, and his glory will appear over you. ³ Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

¹⁹ The sun will be no more your light by day; nor will the brightness of the moon give light to you, but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. ²⁰ Your sun will no more go down, nor your moon withdraw; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be ended.

¹⁶ Give glory to the LORD your God before he brings darkness, before your feet stumble on the mountains at twilight. You hope for light, but he turns it into deep darkness. He changes it into heavy gloom.

¹⁶ the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.”

⁷⁹ to shine on those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

⁸ The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the sons of this age are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the sons of light.

⁴ In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. ⁵ This light shines in the darkness, but the darkness cannot understand it.

⁹ The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.

¹² Once again, Jesus spoke to the people and said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." When Jesus had said this, he departed and hid himself from them.

⁴⁶ I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should remain in darkness.

³⁰ The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,

¹⁸ to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

²¹ Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but their thinking became nonsense, and their foolish heart was darkened.

¹⁹ if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those in darkness,

³⁰ It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God: our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.

¹⁸ And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

⁶ For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁴ Do not enter a mismatch with unbelievers; for what do righteousness and lawlessness have in common? And what fellowship does light have with darkness?

²⁵ Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit.

² in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience.

¹¹ Therefore remember that formerly you who are Gentiles in the flesh and called uncircumcised by the so-called circumcision (that done in the body by human hands)— ¹² that at that time you were apart from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

¹⁸ They are darkened in their understanding and alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts.

² and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

¹² For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

¹³ He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son,

⁴ But you, brethren, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. ⁵ you are all sons of the Light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or the darkness. ⁶ So then let us not be sleeping as do the rest, but let us be watchful and self-controlled. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep at night; and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. ⁸ But let us, who belong to the Day, control ourselves, and put on faith and love as a breast plate, and the hope of Salvation as a helmet.

³ For at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to all sorts of desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God; that you should declare the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. ¹⁰ Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. ¹¹ Dear friends, I urge you as foreigners and temporary residents to abstain from fleshly desires which wage war against your soul,

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

⁸ Yet I am writing you a new commandment, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. ⁹ If anyone claims to be in the light but hates his brother, he is still in the darkness. ¹⁰ He who loves his Brother is always in the Light, and there is nothing within him to cause him to stumble; ¹¹ But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness. He does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

² I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing." ³ As for the saints who are in the earth, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.

⁴⁷ When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, He said of him, “Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit.”

⁴ Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?

¹⁴ I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, brimming with knowledge, and able to instruct one another.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

²⁵ Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are members of one another.

¹⁴ Stand firm then, with the belt of truth fastened around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness arrayed,

¹¹ filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

¹¹ But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

⁸ But about the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of Your kingdom.

³³ who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and obtained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions,

²⁴ He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. ²⁵ For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

²⁹ If you know that he is righteous, you know that every one who does right has been born of him.

⁹ Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. ¹⁰ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil; for every one who does not work righteousness is not a child of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

¹¹ Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The person who does what is good is from God. The person who does what is evil has never seen God.

³⁹ David strapped his sword onto his tunic and he tried to move, but he was not used to it. David said to Saul, I can't go with these; I am not used to them. So David took them off.

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

³ To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

⁵ Is this the fast that I have chosen? A day for a man to humble his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under himself? Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

²⁰ "What purpose does frankincense come to me from Sheba and the sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable and your sacrifices are not pleasing to me."

¹ Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. ² Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

¹⁸ For whoever serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.

¹⁰ so that you may approve what is excellent, and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ;

¹⁸ I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.

²¹ but test everything; hold on to the good.

³ This is good and acceptable before God our Savior,

⁴ But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to demonstrate piety in their own household by repaying their parents, for this is pleasing to God.

²⁸ Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and offer to God acceptable worship with reverence and awe,

⁵ you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

²⁰ How is it to your credit if you are beaten for doing wrong and you endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.

¹⁶ To Sarah he said, "Look, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. Look, it is for you a covering of the eyes to all that are with you. In front of all you are vindicated."

⁵ "Simeon and Levi are brothers. Their swords are weapons of violence. ⁶ My soul, don't come into their council. My glory, don't be united to their assembly; for in their anger they killed men. In their self-will they hamstrung cattle. ⁷ Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce; and their wrath, for it is cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

¹⁷ You shall not hate your brother in your heart: you shall surely rebuke your neighbor, so you shall not bear sin on his account.

¹³ These are of those who rebel against the light. They don't know its ways, nor stay in its paths. ¹⁴ With the light, riseth the murderer, He slayeth the poor and needy, And, in the night, he becometh like a thief. ¹⁵ And the eye of the adulterer waits for dusk, saying, 'No eye will see me,' and he places a covering on his face. ¹⁶ In the dark they dig through houses; by day they shut themselves in; they know not the light: ¹⁷ "For deep darkness is morning to all of them. They are friends with the terrors of deep darkness.

¹ Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers; ² But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

⁴ I do not sit with deceitful people, nor will I go about with hypocrites. ⁵ I hate the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.

²⁰ Can wicked rulers be allied with you? They frame mischief by decree (the law). ²¹ They gather together against the righteous, condemning the innocent to death.

⁵ Let the righteous strike me, it is kindness; let him reprove me, it is like oil on the head; don't let my head refuse it; Yet my prayer is always against evil deeds.

³¹ Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with the fruit of their own schemes.

¹⁴ Do not enter into the path of the wicked. Do not walk in the way of evil men. ¹⁵ Avoid it; do not pass by it; turn from it, and pass on!

⁶ Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding." ⁷ He who corrects a mocker invites insult; he who reproves a wicked man invites abuse. ⁸ Don't rebuke a mocker or he will hate you. Rebuke a wise person, and he will love you.

¹⁸ Whoso is refusing instruction—poverty and shame, And whoso is observing reproof is honoured.

¹² A scorner loveth not to be reproved: he will not go unto the wise

²⁵ Flog a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; rebuke one who has understanding, and he will gain knowledge.

¹² As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise provider to a listening ear.

¹ He that is stiff necked and will not be reformed, shall suddenly be destroyed without any help.

¹⁰ Say you to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds. ¹¹ Woe to the wicked. Disaster is upon them; for the work of his hands will be done to him.

²¹ those who make a man guilty by a word, and lay a trap for the reprover in the gate, and turn aside the just for a worthless thing.

¹⁷ I didn't sit in the assembly of those who make merry and rejoice. I sat alone because of your hand, for you have filled me with indignation.

¹⁵ "If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

¹⁹ But when he rebuked Herod the tetrarch regarding his brother’s wife Herodias and all the evils he had done,

¹⁹ And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. ²¹ But whoever practices the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be seen clearly that what he has done has been accomplished in God.”

²² Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools, ²³ and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. ²⁴ Therefore God gave them up in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonoring of their bodies with one another. ²⁵ They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen. ²⁶ For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. ²⁷ Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. ²⁸ And since they did not see fit to retain the knowledge of God, God gave them over to a base mind, to do what ought not to be done. ²⁹ They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and hatred. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, ³⁰ slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent new forms of evil; they disobey their parents. ³¹ They are senseless, faithless, heartless, merciless. ³² Though they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

²¹ What fruit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? The outcome of those things is death.

¹² The night is nearly over; the day is at hand. So let us throw aside the deeds of darkness, and put on the armor of light.

¹⁷ Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and obstacles that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Turn away from them.

⁹ I wrote you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people.

²⁰ No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to be participants with demons. ²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: you cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of demons.

¹⁴ Do not enter a mismatch with unbelievers; for what do righteousness and lawlessness have in common? And what fellowship does light have with darkness? ¹⁵ What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” ¹⁷ Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you. ¹⁸ "I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty."

⁸ The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

²² You were taught, with regard to your former manner of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful lusts;

⁷ Therefore do not be partners with them;

⁷ For those who sleep, sleep at night; and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

⁶ In the name of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is living in idleness and not living according to the tradition that they received from us.

¹⁴ If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he may be ashamed.

²⁰ Those who are guilty reprove in public, so that others may be warned.

⁵ and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who imagine that godliness is a means of gain.

⁵ having a form of godliness but denying its power. And turn away from these.

² preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction.

¹⁵ These are the things you should teach. Encourage and refute with full authority. Do not let anyone look down on you.

¹⁰ If any one comes to you and does not bring this Teaching, do not receive him into your house or welcome him; ¹¹ for he who greets him shares in his wicked work.

¹² "'You did this secretly. I will make this happen in broad daylight in front of all Israel.'"

¹⁷ "Stolen waters are sweet, and food eaten in secret is delicious."

¹⁴ For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

²⁴ Can any hide himself in secret places so that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

¹ In the meantime, a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling one another. Jesus began to speak first to His disciples: “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. ² There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

²⁴ Therefore God gave them up in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonoring of their bodies with one another. ²⁵ They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen. ²⁶ For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. ²⁷ Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

¹⁶ This will come to pass on that day when God will judge men’s secrets through Christ Jesus, as proclaimed by my gospel.

³ For you have spent enough time in the past doing what the Gentiles like to do, living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry.

¹² And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne. And there were open books, and one of them was the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their deeds, as recorded in the books.

¹⁴ Your prophets had a vision for you, false and worthless; they have not exposed your sin, to restore your fortune; they have seen oracles for you, false and misleading.

¹⁰ And now I will make her shame clear before the eyes of her lovers, and no one will take her out of my hand.

¹ when I would heal Israel, and the corruption of Ephraim is revealed, and the wicked deeds of Samaria; because they deal in falsehood, the thief breaks in, and the bandit raids the outside.

⁹ I will bear the rage of Yahweh, for I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and executes my justice. He will bring me out to the light; I will see his righteousness.

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the proper time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.

¹³ But to which of the angels did he ever say, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"?

¹⁹ But your dead will live. Their bodies will rise. You, who dwell in the dust, wake up and shout for joy. Your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead.

¹⁷ Awake, awake! Rise up, O Jerusalem, you who have drunk from the hand of the LORD the cup of his wrath, you who have drained to its dregs the goblet that makes men stagger.

¹ Awake, awake, O Zion, put on your strength. Put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again.

¹ Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.

⁴ And He said to me, Prophesy to these bones and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD: ⁵ "'The Sovereign LORD says to these bones: "I will cause breath to enter you that you may come to life. ⁶ I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you will live. Then you will know that I am the LORD.”'” ⁷ So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. ⁸ And I beheld and lo! sinews and flesh were grown upon them, and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. ⁹ Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and tell the wind, 'The Sovereign LORD says: “Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.”'” ¹⁰ So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath entered into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, a very great congregation.

⁷⁸ because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the Dawn will visit us from on high,

²⁵ Truly, truly, I tell you, the hour is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. ²⁶ For as the Father has life in himself; so he has granted to the Son to have life in himself; ²⁷ and he has given him authority to judge, because he is the Son of Man. ²⁸ Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice ²⁹ And will come out--those who have done good rising to Life, and those who have lived evil lives rising for condemnation.

⁵ While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

⁴³ When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" ⁴⁴ The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with grave clothes, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."

⁴⁷ For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

⁴ We therefore were buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life. ⁵ For if we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be raised to life as He was.

¹¹ And do this, understanding the occasion. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. ¹² The night is nearly over; the day is at hand. So let us throw aside the deeds of darkness, and put on the armor of light.

³⁴ Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.

⁵ made us alive with Christ, even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved!

¹ Since then you have been raised with Christ, aim at what is above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God;

⁶ So then let us not be sleeping as do the rest, but let us be watchful and self-controlled.

¹⁰ but has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

²⁶ And that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

¹⁰ And David's heart killed him after he had numbered the people. And David said to the LORD, I have sinned greatly in what I have done, but now, O LORD, I beseech you, put away the iniquity of your servant, for I have done very foolishly.

¹⁰ But he replied to her, "You're talking like foolish women do. Shall we accept what is good from God but not tragedy?" Throughout all of this, Job did not sin by what he said.

²² I was so senseless and ignorant. I was a brute beast before you.

⁸ The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

⁴ And Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."

¹⁶ Look, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

² Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.

⁴ "I have sinned," he said, "in betraying innocent blood!" "What is that to us?" they answered; "you must see to that."

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but that instead a riot was breaking out, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “You shall bear the responsibility.”

²⁵ He said to them, “Foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

²⁰ Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature.

¹ O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.

³ Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now trying to be made complete by the flesh?

³³ Nevertheless, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

⁹ For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

⁵ Behave wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.

¹⁵ Make sure that no one pays back evil for evil. Instead, always pursue what is good for each other and for everyone else.

⁹ But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.

²⁵ See to it that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven?

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good conduct, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.

²² Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth, so that you have a genuine love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from a pure heart.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, Do not do that: I am a fellow servant with you and your brethren, who hold to the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

¹⁹ In time of troubles they shall not be shamed, and in days of famine they shall be plentifully fed.

¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do—do it with all your might; for in Sheol—where you are going—no one works, plans, knows, or thinks about anything.

² Give a portion to seven, yea even to eight, For you do not know what evil may come upon the earth."

¹ Remember your Creator in the days of your youth— before the days of trouble come and the years draw near when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them!"

¹³ therefore the prudent person remains silent at such a time, for the time is evil.

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest the darkness overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.

²⁸ One of them named Agabus stood up and predicted through the Spirit that a great famine would sweep across the entire Roman world. (This happened under Claudius.) ²⁹ So the disciples, each according to his ability, decided to send relief to the brothers living in Judea.

¹¹ And do this, understanding the occasion. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

²⁶ Because of the present distress I think it is good for you to remain as you are.

²⁹ What I am saying, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none; ³⁰ those who weep, as if they did not; those who are joyful, as if they were not; those who make a purchase, as if they had nothing; ³¹ and those who use the things of this world, as if not dependent on them. For this world in its present form is passing away.

¹⁰ Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, especially to those who belong to the household of faith.

¹³ Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to withstand it; and after you have done everything, to stand firm.

¹⁵ and with your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace.

⁶ Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and discernment in the eyes of people who'll listen to all these decrees. Then they'll say: 'Surely this great nation is a wise and discerning people.'

⁹ So give your servant an understanding mind to govern your people, so I can discern between good and evil. Otherwise, how shall I be able to govern this great people of yours?" ¹⁰ The LORD was pleased that Solomon had asked for this, ¹¹ And God said to him, Because your request is for this thing, and not for long life for yourself or for wealth or for the destruction of your haters, but for wisdom to be a judge of causes; ¹² "I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had. There has never been nor will ever be anyone like you.

²⁸ And he said unto man, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to eschew evil is understanding.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who do them have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.

²⁷ Let me understand the teaching of your precepts! Then I will meditate on your wondrous works.

⁵ then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

²³ Buy the truth, and do not sell it. Get wisdom, discipline, and understanding.

²² “For my people are foolish. They don’t know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but they don’t know how to do good.”

¹⁷ If anyone desires to do His will, he will know whether My teaching is from God or whether I speak on My own.

² Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

¹⁵ Be strictly careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise.

¹ Now then, brothers, you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, as in fact you are doing. We ask and encourage you in the Lord to do so even more. ² For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. ³ For it is God’s will that you should be dedicated to Him, [that is], you should avoid sexual immorality.

² so that he can live the rest of his mortal life guided, not by human desires, but by the will of God.

²¹ He drank some of its wine. He became drunk and lay undressed inside his tent.

³² come, we cause our father to drink wine, and lie with him, and preserve from our father—a seed.' ³³ And that night they made their father take much wine; and the older daughter went into his bed; and he had no knowledge of when she went in or when she went away. ³⁴ And on the day after, the older daughter said to the younger, Last night I was with my father; let us make him take much wine this night again, and do you go to him, so that we may have offspring by our father. ³⁵ And they caused their father to drink wine that night also. And the younger rose up and lay with him. And he did not know when she lay down, nor when she rose up.

²⁰ "They shall say to the elders of his city: This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious! He will not obey us! He is a glutton and a drunkard.

³ Because your loyal love is better than life, my lips will praise you. ⁴ Thus will I bless thee while I live: and in thy name I will lift up my hands. ⁵ My soul will be satisfied as with the best and richest food, and with joyful lips my mouth will praise.

¹² Those who sit at the gate talk of me and I am the song of the drunkards.

¹ Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

²⁰ Do not be among ones drinking too much wine, or those who gorge themselves on meat: ²¹ for the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor; and drowsiness clothes them in rags.

²⁹ Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? ³⁰ To those who linger over wine, to those who come to try mixed wine. ³¹ Do not look at the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly. ³² In the end, it bites like a snake, and poisons like a viper. ³³ Your eyes will see strange things, and your mind will imagine confusing things. ³⁴ Yes, you will be as he who lies down in the midst of the sea, or as he who lies on top of the rigging: ³⁵ "They struck me," you will say, "but I never felt it. They beat me, but I never knew it When will I wake up? I want another drink."

⁴ Take me away with you. Let us hurry. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will be glad and rejoice in you. We will praise your love more than wine. They are right to love you.

⁹ and your mouth like the best wine, that goes down smoothly for my beloved, gliding through the lips and teeth.

¹¹ Woe to those who rise early in the morning to go after fermented drink, tarrying in the twilight while wine inflames them! ¹² And the harp and the viol, the tambourine and flutes and wine are in their feasts; but they do not regard the work of the LORD, nor consider the work of his hands. ¹³ Therefore my people will go into exile without knowledge, and their nobles will be men of hunger, and their multitude is parched with thirst.

²² Woe to those who are mighty to drink wine, and champions at mixing strong drink;

⁶ On this mountain the LORD Almighty will make a feast of rich food for all peoples, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear of dregs.

¹ Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the water. You, who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

¹⁵ The LORD of hosts will defend them; and they will destroy and overcome with sling stones; and they will drink, and roar as through wine; and they will be filled like bowls, like the corners of the altar. ¹⁶ "the LORD their God will save them in that day like the flock of his people. They will be like the stones in a crown lifted high over his land. ¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! Grain will make the young men thrive, and new wine the young women.

²⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

⁴⁹ and he then begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,

¹⁵ for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He shall never take wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb.

¹³ If ye then, though evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!

⁴⁵ But should that servant say to himself 'My master is a long time coming,' and begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and get drunk,

³⁴ But watch yourselves, or your hearts will be weighed down by dissipation, drunkenness, and the worries of life—and that day will spring upon you suddenly like a snare.

¹³ But others mocked them and said, “They are drunk on new wine!” ¹⁴ Then Peter stood up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and addressed the crowd: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen carefully to my words. ¹⁵ These men are not drunk as you suppose, for it is only nine in the morning. ¹⁶ No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ¹⁷ ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people; your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. ¹⁸ Even on My servants, both men and women, I will pour out My Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

²⁴ Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.

¹³ Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.

¹¹ But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a verbal abuser, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

¹⁰ nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

²¹ For in eating every one goes ahead with out waiting for everybody else. One is hungry and another is drunk.

²¹ and envy; drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. ²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. ²⁴ Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ²⁵ Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit.

⁶ namely, if any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, and his children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild or rebellious.

³ For you have spent enough time in the past doing what the Gentiles like to do, living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry. ⁴ They think it strange that you do not run with them into the same excess of dissipation, and they speak evil of you:

⁷ For God is the king of all the earth; sing a psalm for edification. ⁸ God is king over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.

⁸ ¶ Wait in him at all times; ye peoples, pour out your heart before him; God is our refuge. Selah.

¹² I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify your name forevermore.

² Let's come before his presence with thanksgiving. Let's extol him with songs.

² Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; talk of all His wonderful works. ³ Glory in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

⁷ Sing to the LORD a song of thanksgiving. Make music to our God with a harp.

¹⁴ My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.

⁸ 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

³⁰ When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

²³ But a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him. ²⁴ God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”

²⁵ About midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

²⁶ What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a psalm or a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. All of these must be done to build up the church.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

¹³ Is anyone of you in trouble? let him pray. Is anyone thriving? let him sing praise.

²¹ And he said, Naked I came out of my mother's womb and naked I will return there. the LORD gave and the LORD has taken away, praise the name of the LORD.

¹ I will bless the LORD at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth.

⁷ The kindnesses of the LORD will I mention, the praises of the LORD, according to all which the LORD requites us, and the vast good to the house of Israel which He requites them, according to His compassions, and according to His many kindnesses."

¹³ And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ¹⁴ If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it."

¹⁶ It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you, and I appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that should remain, so that the Father might grant you whatever you ask in my Name.

²³ In that day you will no longer ask Me anything. Truly, truly, I tell you, whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you. ²⁴ Until now you have not asked for anything in My name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete. ²⁵ "I have said these things to you in figurative language. The time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but will tell you plainly about the Father. ²⁶ In that day you will ask in My name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf.

⁴¹ The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.

⁴ I always thank my God for you because of the grace He has given you in Christ Jesus.

⁴ Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or crude joking, which are out of character, but rather thanksgiving.

³ I thank my God every time I remember you;

¹¹ being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have full endurance and patience, and joyfully ¹² giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.

¹⁷ And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

³ We ought always to thank God for you, brethren, as is fitting, because your faith grows abundantly, and the love of every one of you for each other grows greater;

¹³ But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord; because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth:

¹¹ If anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God. If anyone serves, he should serve with the strength God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

⁹ Then the angel of the LORD told her: "Go back to your mistress and submit to her.

²⁴ And all the officials and mighty warriors, and also all the sons of King David, pledged allegiance to King Solomon.

⁷ So let the fear of the LORD rest upon you, be on your guard, and act carefully, because with the LORD our God there is neither injustice, nor partiality, nor bribery."

⁹ So I said, "What you're doing isn't right! Shouldn't you live in the fear of our God to avoid shame from our foreign enemies?

¹⁵ But the former governors that were before me laid burdens upon the people, and took of them for bread and wine above forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants lorded over the people; but so did not I, because of the fear of God.

²¹ My son, fear the LORD and the king. Do not join those who are rebellious:

¹ Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God. ² Consequently, the one who resists authority is opposing what God has set in place, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. ³ For rulers are not a terror for those who do good works, but to those who do evil. Do you want to have no fear of the one in authority? do that which is good, and you shall have his praise: ⁴ For he is God's servant to you for good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain; he is God's servant, an avenger to execute wrath on the wrongdoer. ⁵ Therefore, it is necessary to submit to authority, not only to avoid punishment, but also as a matter of conscience.

¹⁶ to be subject to such men and to everyone who helps in the work and labors.

¹ Since we have these promises, dear friends, let's cleanse ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit by becoming mature in our holy fear of God.

¹³ For you, brothers, were called to freedom; but do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh. Rather, serve one another in love.

²² Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.

²⁴ Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

³ Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

¹¹ A woman must learn in quietness and full submissiveness.

⁴ [He must] manage his own family well and, with dignity, keep his children in subjection [or, “respectful”].

¹⁷ Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. To this end, allow them to lead with joy and not with grief, for that would be of no advantage to you.

¹³ Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to the king as the supreme authority,

¹⁷ Treat everyone with high regard: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.

⁵ Young men, in the same way, submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

¹⁶ He said to the woman: "I will greatly increase your pains in childbirth; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

¹⁶ Then said Memucan before the king and the princes, "The queen Vashti hath not only done evil against the king but also against all the princes and all the people in all the lands of king Ahasuerus: ¹⁷ When the report about the queen goes out to all the women, it will cause them to despise their husbands. They'll say, 'King Ahasuerus ordered Queen Vashti to be brought before him, but she wouldn't come.' ¹⁸ This day the women of nobility from Persia and Media will respond to all the officials of the king and there will be no end to contempt and anger.

²⁰ "When the king's order is made public through all his great kingdom all the wives will give honor to their husbands, great as well as small."

³⁴ women are to be silent in the churches. They are not permitted to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says.

²² Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.

¹⁸ Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

¹¹ A woman must learn in quietness and full submissiveness. ¹² I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.

⁵ to be chaste and holy, and to take good care of their households, and to be obedient to their husbands; so that no one may reproach the word of God.

¹ You wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without a word by the behavior of their wives, ² when they see how pure and reverent you are. ³ Your beauty should not come from outward adornment such as braided hair or gold jewelry or fine clothes, ⁴ but from the inner disposition of your heart, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s sight. ⁵ For so of old the holy women who hoped in God adorned themselves. They were submissive to their own husbands, ⁶ Thus Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: and you are her daughters, if you do right, and do not give way to fear.

²⁸ Keep watch over yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood.

³ But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. ⁴ Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. ⁵ And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, for it is just as if her head were shaved. ⁶ For if a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, let her cover her head. ⁷ A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. ⁸ For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; ⁹ neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. ¹⁰ Therefore, in view of the angels, woman must wear a symbol of subjection on her head.

²² And he subordinated all things under his feet, and appointed him head over all things for the church, ²³ which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills everything in every way.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her ²⁶ to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,

¹⁸ And he is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; so that in all things he might have the pre-eminence.

¹⁰ and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, Jesus, who delivers us from the coming wrath.

³⁵ "Do to Aaron and to his sons all that I have commanded you. Ordain them for seven days.

²⁰ Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

²² Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord.

⁷ In everything, show yourself to be an example by doing good works. In your teaching show integrity, dignity,

⁹ Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not to talk back to them,

²⁴ This is the reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife. They will become one flesh.

⁶⁷ And Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah. And he took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her. And Isaac was comforted after his mother.

³ but the poor man had nothing except for one little ewe lamb that he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It used to share his food and drink from his own cup. It even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him.

¹⁸ May your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth. ¹⁹ A loving doe and a graceful deer-- let her breasts satisfy you at all times. Be captivated always with her love.

¹⁹ And He took the bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” ²⁰ In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.

²⁸ In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

¹⁹ Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

¹⁸ For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life you inherited from your forefathers, ¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or spot. ²⁰ He was known before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in the last times for your sake. ²¹ Through Him you believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and glorified Him; and so your faith and hope are in God.

⁷ Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with honor as the weaker partner, since you are joint heirs of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.

⁹ And I bathed you in water, and washed your blood from you, and anointed you with oil.

²⁵ I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness, and from all your idols.

¹ " 'On that day a well will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and from impurity.

⁵ Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

³ You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.

⁸ This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, proving yourselves to be My disciples.

⁷ Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you.

¹⁷ Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. ¹⁸ As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. ¹⁹ For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the truth.

¹⁶ And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized, and wash your sins away, calling on His name.’

¹¹ And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁷ Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

⁵ he saved us, not by deeds of righteousness that we have done, but because of his mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; ⁷ so that having been justified by His grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

¹⁰ And by that will, we have been sanctified through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

²² let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

¹⁸ He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of His creation.

² who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling with his blood: may grace and peace be yours in abundance.

²² Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth, so that you have a genuine love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from a pure heart. ²³ For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

²¹ And this water symbolizes the baptism that now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the body, but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

⁶ This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ—not by water alone, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies to this, because the Spirit is the truth.

¹ Judas, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, to those who have been called, who are beloved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ:

¹³ All glorious is the king`s daughter within; her clothing is of wrought gold:

³ Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God. Selah.

⁷ You are all fair, my love; there is no spot in you.

¹⁵ Although you have been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through you, I will make you an eternal excellence, a joy of many generations. ¹⁶ You will also drink the milk of the nations, and will nurse from royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. ¹⁷ For bronze I will bring gold; for iron I will bring silver; for wood, bronze, and for stones, iron. I will also make peace your governor, and righteousness your ruler. ¹⁸ Violence will no more be heard in your land, desolation nor destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.

³ You also will be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

⁹ "Jerusalem will be my source of joy, praise, and honor. All the nations on earth will hear about all the blessings that I will give to Jerusalem. They will be afraid and tremble because of all the prosperity that I will provide for it.'"

¹⁴ knowing that the One who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in His presence.

² I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin.

⁴ For He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His presence. In love

²² But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy, unblemished, and blameless in His presence—

²⁸ We proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.

²³ Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²² But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the joyful assembly ²³ and to the church of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven; and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous men made perfect; ²⁴ to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or spot.

¹⁴ So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to have the Lord find you at peace and without spot or fault.

²¹ Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

²⁴ Now to Him who is able to keep them from stumbling and to present them before His glorious presence without fault and with exultation—

⁹ After this I looked, and there was a vast throng that no one could count from every nation, tribe, people, and tongue, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, ¹⁰ They cried out in a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the lamb!" ¹¹ And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshipped God, ¹² saying, "Amen! Praise and glory, and wisdom and thanksgiving, and honor and power and strength be to our God forever and ever. Amen!" ¹³ Then one of the elders addressed me: “These in white robes,” he asked, “who are they, and where have they come from?” ¹⁴ I said to him, "Sir, you know." And he said to me, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them. ¹⁶ Never again will they hunger, never again will they thirst, never shall the sun strike them, nor any scorching heat;" ¹⁷ For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

¹⁰ And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, ¹¹ having the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. ¹² It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. ¹³ There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south, and three on the west. ¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. ¹⁵ The angel who was talking with me had a measuring rod of gold, to measure the city, its gates and wall. ¹⁶ The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the rod, twelve thousand stadia; its length and width and height are equal. ¹⁷ And he measured its wall, a hundred and forty-four cubits, according to man's measurement, which the angel was using. ¹⁸ The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as clear as glass. ¹⁹ The foundations of the city walls were adorned with every kind of precious stone: The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, ²⁰ the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. ²¹ And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each gate made of a single pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. ²² But I saw no temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. ²³ The city does not need the sun nor the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God lighted it, and the Lamb is its lamp. ²⁴ The nations will walk by its light; the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. ²⁵ And its gates will not be shut by day; for there will be no night there; ²⁶ and the glory and honor of the nations shall be brought into it. ²⁷ But nothing impure shall enter into it, nor shall any man who commits shameful acts, or who lies: but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

²¹ the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. ²² Then the LORD made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man. He brought her to the man. ²³ The man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh! She will be called 'woman', because she was taken out of Man. ²⁴ This is the reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife. They will become one flesh.

⁵ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?

³¹ “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”

¹⁷ A gracious man benefits himself, but the cruel person damages himself.

⁵ The fool folds his hands together and ruins himself.

¹¹ He tends his flock like a shepherd. He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart. He gently leads those that have young.

¹⁴ I will feed them in good pasture. On the lofty mountain of Israel shall be their folds; there they shall lie down and rest there in luxurious ease, and be fed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. ¹⁵ I will feed My sheep, and I will make them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD.

²⁷ The tree of the field will yield its fruit, and the earth will yield its increase, and they will be secure in their land. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bars of their yoke, and have delivered them out of the hand of those who made slaves of them.

³⁷ "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

⁵⁰ Here is the bread that comes down out of Heaven that a man may eat it and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And this bread, which I will give for the life of the world, is My flesh.” ⁵² Then the Jews began to argue among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" ⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, I tell you most truly, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ for my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. ⁵⁶ Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will live because of me. ⁵⁸ This is the bread which came down from heaven: not as the fathers ate manna, and died: he who eats this bread shall live forever.

³¹ They are senseless, faithless, heartless, merciless.

²³ The man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh! She will be called 'woman', because she was taken out of Man.

⁵ so in Christ we who are many are one body, and each member belongs to one another.

¹⁵ Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!

¹² The body is a unit, though it is comprised of many parts. And although its parts are many, they all form one body. So it is with Christ. ¹³ For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to drink. ¹⁴ For the body is not made up of one member but of many. ¹⁵ If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason be any less a part of the body. ¹⁶ And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason be any less a part of the body. ¹⁷ If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? ¹⁸ But now God has arranged the members in the body, each one of them, just as he desired. ¹⁹ If they were all one part, where would the body be? ²⁰ As it is, there are many parts, but one body. ²¹ The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you," or the head to the feet, "I don't need you." ²² On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, ²³ and the parts we consider less honorable, we treat with greater honor. And our unpresentable parts are treated with special modesty, ²⁴ whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God has composed the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, ²⁵ so that there should be no division in the body, but that its members should have mutual concern for one another. ²⁶ If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. ²⁷ Now you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a member of it.

²³ which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills everything in every way.

¹⁹ and he loses connection to the head, from whom the whole body, supported and knit together by its joints and ligaments, grows as God causes it to grow.

⁷ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, ⁸ and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

¹⁶ Or don’t you know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”

⁹ Kings' daughters are among your honorable women. At your right hand the queen stands in gold of Ophir. ¹⁰ Listen, daughter! Consider and pay attention. Forget your people and your father's house, ¹¹ So the king will desire your beauty, honor him, for he is your lord. ¹² The daughter of Tyre will come with a gift. The rich among the people will seek your favor. ¹³ All glorious is the king`s daughter within; her clothing is of wrought gold: ¹⁴ In embroidered garments she is presented to the king. Her virgin companions who follow her train will be presented to you. ¹⁵ They are led with joy and gladness. They enter the palace of the king. ¹⁶ Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you shall make them princes in all the land. ¹⁷ I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore peoples will praise you forever and ever.

⁵ "For your Maker is your husband. the LORD Almighty is his name! The Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer. He is called the God of all the earth.

⁴ You will not be called Forsaken any more, nor will your land be called Desolate any more; but you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the LORD delights in you, and your land will be married. ⁵ For as a young man marries a virgin, so will your sons marry you. And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so will your God rejoice over you.

²⁹ The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom stands and listens for him, and is overjoyed to hear the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.

¹⁹ Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, divine utterance may be given me, so that I will boldly make known the mystery of the gospel,

² that they may be encouraged in heart, knit together in love, and filled with the full riches of complete understanding, so that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ,

⁸ Deacons likewise must be dignified, not insincere, not devoted to much wine, not fond of dishonest gain,

¹⁶ By common confession, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was proclaimed among the nations, was believed in throughout the world, was taken up in glory.

⁷ Let us rejoice and be glad and give him the glory! For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. ⁸ She was given clothing of fine linen, linen bright and pure.” For the fine linen she wears is the righteous acts of the saints.

² I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

³¹ Then Bath-sheba bowed with her face to the earth, and knelt before to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live forever.

²⁸ In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. ²⁹ Indeed, no one ever hated his own body, but he nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church.

⁹ Furthermore, we have all had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we respected them. Should we not much more submit to the Father of our spirits and live?

² when they see how pure and reverent you are. ³ Your beauty should not come from outward adornment such as braided hair or gold jewelry or fine clothes, ⁴ but from the inner disposition of your heart, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s sight. ⁵ For so of old the holy women who hoped in God adorned themselves. They were submissive to their own husbands, ⁶ Thus Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: and you are her daughters, if you do right, and do not give way to fear. ⁷ Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with honor as the weaker partner, since you are joint heirs of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
