¹ And now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and to the ordinances, which I teach you, to do them, that you may live and go in and possess the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, gives you. ² You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, to keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. ³ "You saw with your own eyes what he did in Baal Peor. The LORD your God exterminated from among you every man who followed Baal of Peor. ⁴ "But all of you who were faithful to the LORD your God are still alive today. ⁵ »I have taught you laws and rules as the LORD my God commanded me. You must obey them when you enter the land and take possession of it. ⁶ Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and discernment in the eyes of people who'll listen to all these decrees. Then they'll say: 'Surely this great nation is a wise and discerning people.' ⁷ For what great nation is there, that has a god so near to them, as the LORD our God is whenever we call on him? ⁸ And what other great nation has for it just rules and regulations just like this whole law that I am setting before you today? ⁹ Only guard yourselves carefully so you won't forget the things that you saw and let them slip from your mind for the rest of your life. Tell them to your children and to your grandchildren. ¹⁰ Remember the day that you stood before the LORD your God in Horeb, when the LORD said to me Assemble me the people and I will make them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days that they live on the land and that they may teach their children. ¹¹ And you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness. ¹² the LORD your God spoke from the midst of the fire. You heard the sound of words, but you saw no form; there was only a voice. ¹³ And he declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which he charged you to observe, and he wrote them on the two tablets of stone. ¹⁴ And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you the statutes and rights that ye might do them in the land which ye are about to enter to possess. ¹⁵ Be very careful, for you saw no kind of form on the day that the LORD spoke to you in Horeb out of the middle of the fire, ¹⁶ that you not deal corruptly, and make for yourselves a graven image, a likeness of any figure, the form of a male or female, ¹⁷ any animal on earth, any winged bird that flies in the sky, ¹⁸ any creeping thing on the ground, or any fish in the sea. ¹⁹ and lest having looked up to the sky, and having seen the sun and the moon and the stars, and all the heavenly bodies, you should go astray and worship them, and serve them, which the Lord your God has distributed to all the nations under heaven. ²⁰ For the LORD took you and brought you out of the iron-smelting furnace out of Egypt to be the people of his inheritance, as you are today. ²¹ "And the LORD was angry with me because of you, and he swore that I would not cross the Jordan and that I would not go to the good land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance. ²² "I am going to die in this land. I will not cross the Jordan River. But you are going to go across and take possession of that good land. ²³ Be careful, lest you forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make yourselves a carved image in the form of anything which the LORD your God has forbidden you. ²⁴ For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. ²⁵ "When you have had children and grandchildren and you have grown old in the land and you act corruptly and you make a divine image of the form of anything and you do evil in the eyes of the LORD your God, thus provoking him to anger, ²⁶ I call Heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land which you are crossing over Jordan to possess. You shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed. ²⁷ The LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and you shall be left few in number among the nations, where the LORD will drive you. ²⁸ There you will serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell. ²⁹ But if from there you shall seek the LORD your God, you shall find him, if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. ³⁰ "When you are in trouble (distress) and all these things happen to you in the latter days, turn to the LORD your God and obey his voice. ³¹ For the LORD your God is a merciful God. He will not fail you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them. ³² For ask now to the former days which were before thee from the day that God created man upon the earth, and from the end of the heavens to the end of the heavens, Has there been as this great word, or was heard like it? ³³ that a nation hath heard the voice of God speaking out of fire as thou hast heard, and yet lived? ³⁴ Or has a god ever attempted to go to take for himself a nation from the midst of a nation, using trials and signs and wonders and war, with an outstretched arm and with great and awesome deeds, like all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? ³⁵ It was shown to you so that you might know that the LORD is God, and no one else beside Him. ³⁶ From heaven he made you hear his voice to teach you, and on the earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from the midst of the fire. ³⁷ And because he loved your ancestors he chose their descendants after them. And he brought you forth from Egypt with his own presence, by his great strength, ³⁸ Driving out before you nations greater and stronger than you, to take you into their land and give it to you for your heritage, as at this day. ³⁹ "May you acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in the heavens above and over the earth below there is no other God. ⁴⁰ You shall keep his statutes and his commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the LORD your God gives you for all time. ⁴¹ Moses set aside three cities on the east side of the Jordan. ⁴² Those who unintentionally killed someone whom they had never hated could flee to one of these cities and save their lives. ⁴³ Bezer in the desert plain for the Reubenites, Ramoth in Gilead for the Gadites, and Golan in Bashan for the Manassites. ⁴⁴ Now this is the law that Moses set before the Israelites; ⁴⁵ These are the instructions, decrees, and ordinances that Moses declared to the Israelites when they came out of Egypt. ⁴⁶ beyond the Jordan in the valley opposite Beth Peor in the land of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who was reigning in Heshbon and whom Moses and the Israelites defeated when they came out of Egypt. ⁴⁷ So they took possession of his land, as well as the land of Og king of Bashan. Both Amorite kings lived east of the Jordan ⁴⁸ This land extended from the town of Aroer, on the edge of the Arnon River, north to Mount Sirion, that is, Mount Hermon. ⁴⁹ and all the Arabah east of the Jordan as far as the Dead Sea below the slopes of Pisgah.

⁵ Keep my laws and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them, I am the Lord.

³⁷ "'Obey all my laws and all my rules, and live by them. I am the LORD!'"

⁸ And keep my rules and do them: I am the Lord, who make you holy.

³¹ Keep my commandments, and do them. I am the Lord.

⁸ And what other great nation has for it just rules and regulations just like this whole law that I am setting before you today?

⁴⁵ These are the instructions, decrees, and ordinances that Moses declared to the Israelites when they came out of Egypt.

¹ Moses called all the people of Israel, and said: "Hear, O Israel, the regulations and laws I declare to you today. Learn them and obey them!

³³ Walk in every way that the LORD your God commanded you, so that life may go well for you, and so that you will prolong your days in the land that you will possess.'"

¹ "Be careful to observe every command that I'm instructing you today, in order that you may live, increase, and enter and take possession of the land that the LORD promised by an oath to your ancestors.

¹ Love the LORD thy God and keep his observances, his ordinances, his laws and his commandments always.

³² Be careful to obey all the statutes and ordinances that I'm placing before you today."

²⁰ You shall follow perfect justice, that you may live and possess the land which the LORD your God is giving you.

¹⁶ For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances, that you may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you go in to possess it.

¹⁹ I call heaven and earth as witness this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live:

⁴⁵ that they might keep his statutes, and observe his laws. Praise the LORD.

⁴ You have commanded your precepts, that we should fully obey them.

²⁰ that they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.

¹¹ and I gave them my statutes and declared unto them my rights, by which the man that does them shall live by them.

²¹ '""But the children rebelled against me. They did not walk in my statutes. They were not careful to obey my ordinances. If a man obeys them, he will live. They profaned my Sabbaths. So I resolved to pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

²⁷ »I will put my Spirit in you. I will enable you to live by my Laws, and you will obey my rules.

²⁴ And my servant David will be king over them and they all will have one shepherd. They will also walk in my ordinances and observe my statutes and do them.

²⁰ and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

⁶ They were both upright in the sight of God, blamelessly observing all the Lord's commands and requirements.

¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do what I command you.

⁵ For Moses describeth the righteousness which is by the law, The man who doth these things shall live by them.

³² »Be careful to do what I command you. Do not add to it nor take away from it.

⁷ Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which moses my servant commanded you. do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.

⁶ Do not add to his words lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.

¹³ Now that all has been heard, here is the final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

¹⁸ For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

⁴³ "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.'

² “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They do not wash their hands when they eat.” ³ Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? ⁴ For God said: ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’ ⁵ But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, 'Whatever help you might have received from me is a gift to God' ⁶ he need not honor his father or mother with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. ⁷ You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you: ⁸ 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. ⁹ They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’”

¹ The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus; ² they saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. ³ (For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, do not eat unless they wash their hands and forearms, holding to the tradition of the elders. ⁴ When they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash themselves. And there are many other traditions which they observe, the washing of cups and pitchers and copper vessels.) ⁵ So the Pharisees and the scribes asked Jesus, "Why don't your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders? Instead, they eat with unclean hands." ⁶ He told them, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites. As it is written, 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. ⁷ They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’ ⁸ You let go of the commandment of God, and hold on to the tradition of men." ⁹ And he said to them, "You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God, in order to keep your tradition! ¹⁰ For Moses said, ‘Honor your Father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever curses his father or mother must be put to death.’ ¹¹ But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, 'Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is Corban' (that is, a gift devoted to God), ¹² then you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother, ¹³ making void the word of God by your tradition, which you have handed down. You do many things like this."

¹⁵ Brothers, let me use an example from everyday life. Once a person's will has been ratified, no one can cancel it or add conditions to it.

¹⁸ I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, ¹⁹ And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

¹ While Israel remained at Shittim, the people indulged in sexual immorality with the Moabite women. ² The Moabites invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods. The people ate and bowed down to their gods. ³ Israel joined himself to Baal Peor, and the LORD's anger burned against Israel. ⁴ the LORD said to Moses: "Take all the leaders of the people and execute them in broad daylight before the LORD so that the fierce anger of the LORD may turn away from Israel." ⁵ Moses said to the judges of Israel: "Each of you put to death those men who have joined in worshiping Baal of Peor." ⁶ One of the Israelite men brought a Midianite woman to his brothers. He did this right in front of Moses and the entire congregation of Israel while they were crying at the entrance to the tent of meeting. ⁷ Phinehas, son of Eleazar and grandson of the priest Aaron, saw this. He left the assembly and grabbed a spear in his hand. ⁸ and he went after the man of Israel into the tent and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly. So the plague of the sons of Israel was stayed. ⁹ - and they who die in the plague, twenty-four thousand.

⁶⁴ And among these there was not a man of those counted by Moses and Aaron the priest, who counted the Israelites in the desert of Sinai.

¹⁶ Lo, these, through the counsel of Balaam, caused the children of Israel to commit sin against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague on the assembly of the LORD.

¹⁷ Is not the sin of Peor enough for us, from which we have not cleansed ourselves today, and for which a plague came to the congregation of the LORD,

²⁸ They also attached themselves to Baal of Peor, and they ate sacrifices offered to the dead. ²⁹ Thus they provoked to anger by their deeds, and a plague broke out among them.

¹⁰ I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the first ripe in the fig tree at its first season; but they came to Baal Peor, and consecrated themselves to the shameful thing, and became abominable like that which they loved.

²⁰ "Respect the LORD your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name.

⁴ You must follow the LORD your God, fear him, observe his commandments, listen to his voice, serve him, and cling to him.

⁵ Only take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to keep his commandments, to hold fast to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul."

⁸ Instead, you are to hold fast to the LORD your God, as you have done today,

¹⁴ They began to cry loudly again. So Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-bye, but Ruth remained with her. ¹⁵ Naomi said to her: "Ruth, your sister-in-law went back to her people and her gods. Go back home with her. ¹⁶ Ruth said, “Don't urge me to leave you, and to return from following you, for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God. ¹⁷ Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me.

⁸ My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

⁶ I spread out my hands to you. My soul thirsts for you, like a parched land. Selah. ⁷ Answer me quickly, O LORD for my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will become like those who go down to the pit. ⁸ In the morning let me hear of your gracious love, for in you I trust. Cause me to know the way I should take, because I have set my hope on you. ⁹ Deliver me from my enemies, O LORD. I take refuge in you. ¹⁰ Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground. ¹¹ For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness bring me out of trouble.

²⁰ Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you. Hide yourselves for a little while until his rage has passed by.

⁴ and said to him, Go through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that groan and that grieve for all the iniquities that are done in the midst of them.

⁶⁷ So Jesus said to the Twelve: "Do you also wish to leave me?" ⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ "We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."

²³ When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts;

⁹ Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good.

⁴ These are the ones who have not defiled themselves with women; for they are chaste. These are those who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were redeemed from among men, as first-fruits to God and to the Lamb.

⁴ Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom judgment was given. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony to Jesus and because of the word of God, and who had not worshipped the beast or his image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

¹ And now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and to the ordinances, which I teach you, to do them, that you may live and go in and possess the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, gives you.

¹⁹ That your trust may be in the LORD, I teach you today, even you. ²⁰ Have I not written for you 30 sayings containing counsel and knowledge,

²⁷ For I did not hesitate to declare to you the whole counsel of God.

²⁸ Each one must examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.

³ For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

¹ Now then, brothers, you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, as in fact you are doing. We ask and encourage you in the Lord to do so even more. ² For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

⁵ Now Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house, testifying to what would be spoken later.

¹⁹ I call heaven and earth as witness this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live: ²⁰ to love the LORD your God, to listen to His voice, and to cleave to Him, for He is your life, and the length of your days live in the land which the LORD has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give it to them.

³⁴ People of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, sent by all kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.

⁶ She said to the king: "The report I heard in my country about your acts and your wisdom was true. ⁷ But I did not believe it until I came, and my eyes have seen that not even the half was told me. Thy wisdom and good exceeds the fame which I heard. ⁸ Happy are your men, happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you, who hear your wisdom. ⁹ Blessed is the LORD your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel. Because of the LORD's everlasting love for Israel, therefore he made you king, to do justice and righteousness."

²⁸ And he said unto man, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to eschew evil is understanding.

⁷ The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul, The testimonies of the LORD are stedfast, Making wise the simple,

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who do them have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.

⁹⁸ Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, because they are ever with me. ⁹⁹ I have more insight than all my teachers, for your laws are my meditation. ¹⁰⁰ I have more common sense than the elders, for I observe your precepts.

⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

⁸ The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

⁹ The wise men will be put to shame. They'll be dismayed and taken captive. Look, they have rejected the word of the LORD! So what kind of wisdom do they have?

²⁰ In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his kingdom.

⁹ " 'O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I myself know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no mystery is too difficult for you. Now tell me the visions of my dream that I saw, and its explanation.

¹¹ There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and king Nebuchadnezzar your father, your father the king, made him chief of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and diviners; ¹² because Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, was found to have a more excellent spirit and greater knowledge and understanding interpreting dreams, unraveling questions, and dissolving doubts. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show thee the interpretation. ¹³ Daniel was brought before the king. The king spoke to Daniel: "Are you that Daniel, one of the exiles of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Judah? ¹⁴ I've heard about you, that a spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, discernment, and extraordinary wisdom. ¹⁵ Take note that the advisors and enchanters were brought before me to read the writing and explain its meaning, but they were unable to do so. ¹⁶ However, I've heard that you can provide meaning and interpretation, and that you can solve difficult problems. If you are able to read the writing and report its meaning, you will be clothed in purple, have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will become the third highest ruler in the kingdom."

²⁰ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come; ²¹ and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to supplicate the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also. ²² And many peoples and powerful nations will come to seek Yahweh of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat ⌊the favor of⌋ Yahweh.' ²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'In those days ten men from all the nations of every language will take hold of the hem of a Judean man, saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you!" '"

¹² "All nations shall call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land," says the LORD of hosts.

¹⁵ From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good conduct, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.

⁹ Because from the top of the rocks I see him, from hilltops I watch him. Behold, a people who dwell alone, they do not consider themselves among the nations.

²¹ He has not seen iniquity in Jacob, neither has He seen perverseness in Israel. the LORD his God is with him, the shout of a king is among them.

²⁶ For what mortal man has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the fire like we did, and lived?

²³ "And who is like your people, like Israel, the one nation on earth that God went out to redeem as a people for himself, to make a name for himself, and to carry out for them great and awe-inspiring accomplishments, driving out nations and their gods in front of your people, whom you redeemed to yourself from Egypt?

¹⁸ the LORD is near to the broken-hearted; and saves those who are of a contrite spirit.

¹ For the Chief Musician. By the sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

²⁸ But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works.

¹⁸ the LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

¹⁴ He also lifts up the horn of His people, the praise of all His saints, of the sons of Israel, a people near to Him, Praise the LORD.

⁴ Since you have been precious and honored in my sight, and I have loved you, therefore I will give people in your place, and nations instead of your life.

⁶ Seek the LORD while he may be found. Call on him while he is near.

¹² that at that time you were apart from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world. ¹³ But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. ¹⁴ For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, ¹⁵ by abolishing in His flesh the law of commandments and decrees. He did this to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace ¹⁶ and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by which he put to death their enmity. ¹⁷ He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. ¹⁸ For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. ¹⁹ So then, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household, ²⁰ built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. ²¹ in whom the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord; ²² And in Him you too are being built together into a dwelling place for God in His Spirit.

⁸ Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.

¹² And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, ¹³ and observe his commands and statutes that I'm commanding you today for your own good.

⁷ The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul, The testimonies of the LORD are stedfast, Making wise the simple, ⁸ The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commands of the LORD are pure, giving light to the eyes. ⁹ The fear of the LORD is clean, standing forever. The judgments of the LORD are true; they are altogether righteous. ¹⁰ They are more precious than gold, even much fine gold, and sweeter than honey and drops from the honeycomb. ¹¹ Moreover by them is your servant warned. In keeping them there is great reward.

⁸⁶ All Your commands are faithful; they persecute me with lying; help me!

⁹⁶ Of all perfection I saw a limit; thy command is very broad.

¹²⁷ Therefore I love your commandments more than gold, yes, more than pure gold. ¹²⁸ Therefore I consider all of your precepts to be right. I hate every false way.

¹⁹ He speaks his word to Jacob, his laws and judgments to Israel. ²⁰ He has not done this for just any nation. They do not know his ordinances. Praise the LORD.

¹² So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous, and good. ¹³ Did that which is good, then, become death to me? Certainly not! But in order that sin might be exposed as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful. ¹⁴ We know that the Law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.

¹⁶ All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, ¹⁷ so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

¹⁹ For I know him that he will command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do after right and conscience, that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that he hath promised him."

⁸ "On that day tell your children: 'We do this because of what the LORD did for us when we left Egypt.'" ⁹ And it will be for a sign to you upon your hand and for a memorial between your eyes, that the law of the LORD may be in your mouth, because the LORD has brought you out of Egypt with a strong hand.

¹⁴ And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, 'What is this?' Thou shalt say unto him, 'With a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. ¹⁵ And when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of humans to the firstborn of animals. Therefore, I sacrifice to the LORD every male that first opens the womb, but I redeem every firstborn of my sons.' ¹⁶ It shall be a sign on your hand and an emblem on your forehead, because the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a strong show of force."

¹⁵ Be very careful, for you saw no kind of form on the day that the LORD spoke to you in Horeb out of the middle of the fire,

²³ Be careful, lest you forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make yourselves a carved image in the form of anything which the LORD your God has forbidden you.

⁷ Repeat them to your sons, and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you arise.

²⁹ The secret things belong to the LORD our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

¹⁹ "Now write this song and teach it to the Israelites. Put this song in their very mouths, so that it will be a witness for me against the Israelites,

⁴⁶ he said to them, Set your heart to all the words which I testify to you this day, which you must command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.

¹⁸ Whoever rebels against your orders and does not obey your words according to what you commanded us will be put to death. Only be strong and courageous."

⁶ Let this serve as a sign among you, so that when your children ask in times to come, 'What do these stones mean to you,' ⁷ then you shall tell them, 'Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.'"

²¹ He spoke to the children of israel: »when your children will ask their fathers in time to come, what these stones mean?

¹¹ Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of the LORD. ¹² What man soever desireth life and loveth to see good days: ¹³ Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies. ¹⁴ Turn from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it. ¹⁵ The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. ¹⁶ The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

¹⁸ And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare your strength to this generation, your power to all who are to come.

³ That we have heard and known and our fathers have told us. ⁴ We will not hide them from their children, telling the next generation the praises of the LORD, and his power and his wonders that he has done. ⁵ He established a decree in Jacob, and established the Law in Israel, that he commanded our ancestors to reveal to their children ⁶ so that the next generation might know— children yet to be born— that they might rise up and tell their children, ⁷ that they might set their hope in God, and not forget God's deeds, but keep his commandments, ⁸ They should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not prepare its heart and whose spirit was not faithful to God.

¹¹ I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

⁸ My son, listen to your father's instruction, and do not forsake your mother's teaching:

¹ My son, do not forget my teaching; but let your heart keep my commandments: ² for they will add to you length of days, years of life, and peace. ³ Do not let kindness and truth leave you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart.

²¹ My son, keep good sense, and do not let wise purpose go from your eyes.

¹ Listen, sons, to a father's instruction. Pay attention and know understanding; ² for I give you sound learning. Do not forsake my law. ³ For I was a son unto my father, a tender and an only child before my mother. ⁴ Father taught me. He said: »Remember my words in your heart. Obey my commandments and live. ⁵ Get wisdom. Get understanding. Do not forget, neither swerve from the words of my mouth. ⁶ "Do not abandon her, and she will protect you. Love her, and she will watch over you. ⁷ Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding. ⁸ "Love wisdom and she will exalt you. Embrace wisdom and she will honor you. ⁹ She will put a crown of grace on your head, giving you a head-dress of glory. ¹⁰ Listen, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many. ¹¹ I have directed you in the way of wisdom, and I have led you along straight paths. ¹² When you go, your steps will not be hampered. When you run, you will not stumble. ¹³ Hold on to instruction, do not let it go! Guard wisdom, because she is your life!

²⁰ My son, pay attention to my words, and listen closely to what I say. ²¹ Do not let them out of your sight; keep them within your heart. ²² For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body. ²³ Above all else, guard thy heart; for out of it flows the issues of life.

¹ My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you.

²⁶ My son, give me your heart; and let your eyes keep in my ways.

¹⁹ "The living, yes the living praise you, as I am doing today! Fathers tell their children about your faithfulness.

¹⁸ Pay attention, therefore, to how you listen. Whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.”

⁴ Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger; instead, bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

¹ We must pay closer attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

³ how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? This salvation was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

²² You see that his faith was working with his actions, and his faith was perfected by what he did.

³ Remember therefore what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. But if you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you.

⁹ the LORD said to Moses: "I will come to you in a thick cloud. The people will hear me speaking with you and will believe you from now on." Moses gave the LORD the people's answer.

¹⁶ When morning came on the third day, there was thunder and lightning with a heavy cloud over the mountain and the very loud sound of a ram's horn. All the people in the camp trembled.

¹⁸ The people heard the thunder and the trumpet blast. They saw the lightning and the smoking mountain. They trembled with fear and stood at a distance.

²⁰ And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you so that his fear will be before you so that you do not sin."

² the LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.

²⁹ Oh that they had such a heart with them to fear me and keep all my commandments always, that it might go well with them and with their children forever.

²³ "You shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God, at the place where He chooses to establish his name, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, so that you may learn to respect the LORD your God always.

¹⁹ And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to revere the LORD your God by diligently observing all the word of this law and these rules,

¹² "Assemble the people, the men and the women and children and the alien who is in your town. Assemble them that they may hear and learn and respect the LORD your God, and be careful to observe all the words of this Law. ¹³ Their children who don't know will hear and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land that you are crossing the Jordan River to possess."

²⁴ Only, fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart. Indeed, consider what great things he has done for you.

⁵⁰ His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation.

¹⁸ For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom, and storm; ¹⁹ to a trumpet blast and spoken words such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them

²⁵ See to it that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven?

⁵ And a voice came from the throne, saying, "Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great."

¹⁶ When morning came on the third day, there was thunder and lightning with a heavy cloud over the mountain and the very loud sound of a ram's horn. All the people in the camp trembled. ¹⁷ And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the foot of the mountain. ¹⁸ Mount Sinai was all in smoke because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace. The whole mountain quaked violently!

¹⁸ The people heard the thunder and the trumpet blast. They saw the lightning and the smoking mountain. They trembled with fear and stood at a distance. ¹⁹ They said to Moses, "Speak with us yourself, and we will listen; but do not let God speak with us, lest we die."

²³ And after hearing the voice which came out of the dark while the mountain was burning with fire, all the heads of your tribes and your chiefs came to me,

²² the LORD commanded Moses to tell the Israelites: »You have seen how I have spoken to you from heaven.

⁸ I speak to him audibly and in visions and not in riddles. If he gazes at the image of the LORD, why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?"

³³ that a nation hath heard the voice of God speaking out of fire as thou hast heard, and yet lived?

³⁶ From heaven he made you hear his voice to teach you, and on the earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from the midst of the fire.

⁴ The LORD spoke to you face to face on the mountain from the fire.

²² "These commands the LORD declared in a loud voice to your entire assembly on the mountain from out of the fire and dark clouds, and nothing more was added. He inscribed them on two tablets of stones and gave them to me.

¹² And after the earthquake, came fire. But the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire, came a small still voice. ¹³ When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle, went out, and stood in the entrance of the cave. Behold, a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

²¹ and when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, This is the way, walk in it.

³ A voice of one calling: "In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD. Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

⁶ A voice shouts: "Cry out!" And I said: "What shall I cry?" The voice shouts: "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.

¹⁸ To whom, then, will you compare God? What image will you compare him to?

³ This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’”

¹⁷ and lo! a voice from heaven said,"This is my son, the Beloved, in whom I am well pleased."

⁵ While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him!”

²⁸ Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again." ²⁹ The crowd that stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said an angel had spoken to him. ³⁰ Jesus replied, "This voice is for your benefit, not for mine.

¹⁵ He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

¹⁷ For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him by the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." ¹⁸ We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

⁵ ‘If you will obey me and are faithful to the terms of my covenant, then out of all the nations you will be my own special possession, for all the earth is mine.

¹² The LORD said to Moses, "Come up to me on the mountain, and stay here, and I will give you the tables of stone with the law and the commands that I have written, that you may teach them."

¹⁷ To the Israelites the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on top of the mountain. ¹⁸ Moses entered the midst of the cloud as he went up to the mountain. He was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

¹⁸ When God finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, He gave him the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of God.

²⁸ And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread, nor drank water. And He wrote upon the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

¹ Moses called all the people of Israel, and said: "Hear, O Israel, the regulations and laws I declare to you today. Learn them and obey them! ² the LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb. ³ It was not with our ancestors that the LORD made this covenant, but with these of us who are here alive today. ⁴ The LORD spoke to you face to face on the mountain from the fire. ⁵ I stood at that time as mediator between the LORD and you to declare his message to you, because you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain. He said: ⁶ "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. ⁷ You shall have no other gods before me. ⁸ "'Do not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above, or on the earth below, or that is in the waters beneath the earth: ⁹ You shall not bow down to them in worship or serve them; because I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the iniquity of their parents, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, ¹⁰ but showing gracious love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments. ¹¹ “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name. ¹² Observe the sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you. ¹³ Six days you shall labor and do all your work. ¹⁴ but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God: you will not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maid-servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates, that your manservant and your maid-servant may rest as well as you. ¹⁵ Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm: therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day. ¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that your days may be made longer, and that it may go well with you in the land which the LORD your God gives you. ¹⁷ You shall not murder. ¹⁸ You shall not commit adultery. ¹⁹ You shall not steal. ²⁰ “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. ²¹ “You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. Neither shall you desire your neighbor's house, his field, or his male servant, or his female servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.”

⁹ when I went up into the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant, which the Lord made with you, and I was in the mountain forty days and forty nights, I ate no bread and drank no water. ¹⁰ "Then the LORD gave me the two stone tablets inscribed by God's finger (Holy Spirit). On them were written all the words the LORD spoke to you from the fire on the mountain on the day of the assembly. ¹¹ "At the end of forty days and nights the LORD gave me the two stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant.

¹ At that time the LORD said to me, “Cut two stone tablets like the first, and come up to me onto the mountain, and make an ark of wood. ² I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.” ³ So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut two stone tablets like the first, and went up onto the mountain, having the two tablets in my hand. ⁴ Then the LORD inscribed on the tablets what he wrote before, that is, the Ten Commandments that the LORD declared to you on the mountain from the middle of the fire during the day of the assembly. And the LORD gave them to me. ⁵ "Then I came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the Ark I had made. They are there just as the LORD commanded me.

⁷ Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was,

⁴ containing the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. Inside the ark were the gold jar of manna, Aaron’s staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant.

¹⁹ For when Moses had proclaimed every commandment of the Law to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, along with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people, ²⁰ Saying, This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you to keep.

⁴⁴ He gave them the lands of other nations. They inherited what others had worked for. ⁴⁵ that they might keep his statutes, and observe his laws. Praise the LORD.

¹ The word of the LORD came to me, saying, ² “Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and preach toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel. ³ And say to the land of Israel, So says the LORD: Behold, I am against you and will draw out My sword from its sheath, and I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked. ⁴ Because I cut off from you the just and the wicked, so my sword comes from its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north: ⁵ '"Then everyone will know that I, the LORD, have taken my sword from its sheath, and I will not put it back again."' ⁶ “Therefore sigh, you son of man. You shall sigh before their eyes with a broken heart and with bitterness. ⁷ It shall be, when they tell you, 'Why do you sigh?' that you shall say, Because of the news, for it is coming. Every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, every spirit shall faint and all knees shall be weak as water. It is coming, and it shall be done, says the Sovereign LORD. ⁸ The word of the LORD came to me, saying, ⁹ "Son of man, prophecy and say, 'this is what the LORD says: "A sword, a sword is sharpened and also polished! ¹⁰ '"'It is sharpened to make a slaughter and polished to flash like lightning! Shall we rejoice in the rod of my son despising every tree?'"'" ¹¹ '"The sword was given to be polished, that it might be handled. The sword is sharpened and polished, to give it into the hand of the slayer. ¹² Cry and wail, son of man, for it is against my people; it is against all of the princes of Israel. They are thrown to the sword with my people; therefore strike your thigh. ¹³ '"For there is testing. And what if even the rod that despises will be no more?" Declares the Sovereign LORD. ¹⁴ You therefore, son of man, prophesy, and strike your hands together, and let the sword strike twice, even the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which enters into their private chambers. ¹⁵ so that a heart melts, and the fallen multiply at all of their gates. I gave a sword for slaughter, and alas! It is made for flashing, it is grasped for slaughtering. ¹⁶ Be pointed to the right, to the left, wherever your edge is ordered. ¹⁷ I will also strike my hands together, and I will cause my wrath to rest: I, the LORD, have spoken it." ¹⁸ And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ¹⁹ "And you, son of man, mark out for yourself two roads for the coming of the sword of the king of Babylon; they must both go out from the same land. And hew out a signpost; hew it at the head of the road of the city. ²⁰ You shall set a way that the sword may enter into Rabbah of the Ammonites, and into Judah, into fortified Jerusalem. ²¹ For the king of Babylon stands at the fork of the road at the head of the two roads to practice divination. He shakes the arrows, he inquires with the teraphim, he examines the liver. ²² In his right hand is the divination for Jerusalem, to put up battering rams, to open a mouth for slaughter, to raise the battle cry, to put up battering rams against gates, to build a siege ramp, to build siege works. ²³ It will be to them as a false divination in their sight, who have sworn oaths to them; but he brings iniquity to memory, that they may be taken.

⁹ Only guard yourselves carefully so you won't forget the things that you saw and let them slip from your mind for the rest of your life. Tell them to your children and to your grandchildren.

¹² the LORD your God spoke from the midst of the fire. You heard the sound of words, but you saw no form; there was only a voice.

¹¹ "So be very diligent to love the LORD your God,

⁹ "And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and a willing mind, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and all thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you forever. ¹⁰ Consider now, for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for him as a sanctuary. Be strong, and do it."

⁹ BET How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.

²³ Above all else, guard thy heart; for out of it flows the issues of life.

²⁷ Do not turn to the right or to the left. Remove your foot from evil.

²¹ This is what the LORD says: "Be careful! On the Sabbath day, don't carry any load or bring anything through the gates of Jerusalem.

¹⁵ Did he not make them one? And the vestige of the spirit remains in him. And why did he make them one? He was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and don't break faith with the wife of your youth.

⁴ The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. ⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. ⁶ For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

³ The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

⁴ Thou shalt not make for thyself an idol, nor the likeness of any thing, which is in the heaven above, or in the earth below, or in the waters under the earth; ⁵ You shall not bow down to them in worship or serve them; because I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the iniquity of the parents, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me,

⁷ the LORD said to Moses: "Go down there. Your people whom you brought out of Egypt have corrupted themselves.

⁸ And what other great nation has for it just rules and regulations just like this whole law that I am setting before you today? ⁹ Only guard yourselves carefully so you won't forget the things that you saw and let them slip from your mind for the rest of your life. Tell them to your children and to your grandchildren.

²⁵ "When you have had children and grandchildren and you have grown old in the land and you act corruptly and you make a divine image of the form of anything and you do evil in the eyes of the LORD your God, thus provoking him to anger,

⁸ "'Do not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above, or on the earth below, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:

¹⁹ At Mount Horeb they made a statue of a calf. They worshiped an idol made of metal. ²⁰ Thus they exchanged their glory for an image of a bull that eats grass.

²⁴ God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”

²⁹ "Being then the offspring of God, we should not think that the divine being is like gold, or silver, or stone, a device made by man's design or skill.

⁴ He had as companions Sopater, the son of Pyrrhus, from Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius from Derbe, Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus from the province of Asia. ⁵ These men went on ahead and waited for us in Troas.

²² Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools, ²³ and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. ²⁴ Therefore God gave them up in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonoring of their bodies with one another.

¹⁷ Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

²³ and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

¹⁶ God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars. ¹⁷ God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light to the earth, ¹⁸ and to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.

¹ The heavens and the earth were finished, and all their vast array.

³ By becoming a servant of other gods and worshipping them or the sun or the moon or all the stars of heaven, against my orders;

¹² Then Joshua spoke to the LORD, on the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, and he said in the sight of Israel, "Sun in Gibeon, stand still, and moon, in the valley of Aijalon." ¹³ The sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Isn't this written in the book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and didn't hurry to go down about a whole day.

¹⁶ They abandoned all the commands of the LORD their God and made for themselves two molten calf-shaped idols; they made a pole of Asherah worship and bowed down to the army of the heavens and served Baal.

³ He rebuilt the high places that his father Hezekiah had destroyed. He erected altars for Baal, crafted an Asherah, just as King Ahab of Israel had done, and worshipped and served the stars of heaven.

⁴ The king ordered Hilkiah the high priest, the priests of the secondary order, and the doorkeepers to take out of the LORD's temple all of the implements that had been crafted for Baal, for Asherah, and for every star in the heavens. Then he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron and carried the ashes to Bethel. ⁵ He removed the priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places at the cities of Judah and around Jerusalem and who offered incense to, to the sun, to the moon, to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.

¹¹ He also removed the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the worship of the sun. He burned the chariots used in this worship.

⁶ "You alone are the LORD. You alone have made the heavens, the heavens of the heavens, and all of their army, the earth and all that is in it, the waters and all that is in them. You give life to all of them, and the army of the heavens worship you.

²⁶ if I have seen the sun when it shined, or the moon moving in splendor, ²⁷ and I was secretly enticed, and my hand threw them a kiss, ²⁸ this also would be an iniquity for the judges; for I would have denied the God above.

¹⁶ Yours is the day, and yours is the night; you established the moon and the sun. ¹⁷ You set all the boundaries of the earth; you made summer and winter.

⁷ Who made the great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever. ⁸ the sun to rule by day; for His grace endures forever; ⁹ the moon and stars to rule by night; for His grace endures forever:

³ Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. ⁴ Praise him, you highest heaven and the water above the sky. ⁵ Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.

² They'll be spread out to the sun, the moon, and all the stars of the heavens, which they loved and served, and which they followed, consulted, and worshiped. Their bones won't be collected, nor will they be buried. They'll be like dung on the surface of the ground.

¹³ And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah were defiled as the place of Tophet to all the houses which they burnt incense upon their roofs to all the army of the heavens, and pouring out libations to other gods

³⁵ So says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, the laws of the moon, and the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar, the LORD Almighty is His name.

²⁵ This is what the LORD says: 'If I had not established my covenant for day and night and the laws that govern the heavens and earth,

¹⁶ And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’s house, and, behold, at the entrance of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the temple of the LORD and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

²⁵ Did you bring to me sacrifices and offerings those forty years in the desert, O house of Israel? ²⁶ Or have you borne the booth of your king and the pedestal of your images--the star of your elohim which you made for yourselves?

⁵ those who worship the army of the sky on the housetops, those who worship and swear by the LORD and also swear by Malcam,

⁴⁵ that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

⁴² But God turned, and gave them over to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets, 'Did you offer to me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

²⁵ They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen.

⁵ ‘If you will obey me and are faithful to the terms of my covenant, then out of all the nations you will be my own special possession, for all the earth is mine. ⁶ but you, you will belong to me as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words that you will speak to the Israelites."

²⁶ I prayed to the LORD and said Sovereign LORD, don't destroy Your people and Your inheritance that You have redeemed through Your greatness, that You have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

²⁹ Yet they are your people and your inheritance, which you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm."

⁹ For the LORD's portion is his people. Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

⁵¹ (for they are your people, and your inheritance, which you brought out of Egypt, from the midst of the iron furnace);

⁹ Save your people, and bless your inheritance. Be their shepherd also, and bear them up forever.

¹² Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he has chosen for his inheritance.

⁴ For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself; Israel for his own possession.

¹⁷ O LORD, why do you make us wander from your ways, and harden our heart from your fear? Return for your servants' sake, the tribes of your inheritance. ¹⁸ For a little while Your holy people possessed it. Our enemies have trampled Your sanctuary.

⁴ which I commanded to your ancestors on the day I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace. I said, 'Obey me and do everything that I commanded you. Then you will be my people and I'll be your God.'

¹⁸ I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God; that you should declare the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

¹² But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you have not trusted in me, to regard me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this assembly into the land that I have given to them."

³⁷ Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou shalt not go in there either.

²⁶ "the LORD was angry with me because of you, so he would not listen to me. He said: 'Enough of that! Do not talk to me anymore about this.

² I am one hundred and twenty years old this day. I can no more go out and come in, and the LORD has said to me, 'You shall not go over this Jordan'.

³² And they angered Him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill for Moses because of them; ³³ for they rebelled against his spirit so that he babbled with his lips:

²⁵ Please let me go over and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that good hill country, and Lebanon."

²⁷ Go up to the top of Pisgah and lift your eyes toward the west, north, south, and east. Look with your own eyes, since you won't be able to cross this Jordan River.

²¹ and he cried to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, So says the LORD, Because you have resisted the mouth of the LORD, and have not kept the command that the LORD your God charged you, ²² but came back, and have eaten bread and drank water in the place of which he said to you, “Eat no bread, and drink no water;” your body will not come to the tomb of your fathers.'”

² "You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth. Therefore I will punish you for all of your sins."

⁶ For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he punishes every son he accepts." ⁷ Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? ⁸ If you do not experience discipline like everyone else, then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. ⁹ Furthermore, we have all had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we respected them. Should we not much more submit to the Father of our spirits and live? ¹⁰ Our fathers disciplined us for a short time as they thought best, but God disciplines us for our good, so that we may share in His holiness.

¹³ I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of my body, ¹⁴ since I know that it will soon be laid aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. ¹⁵ And I will make every effort to ensure that after my departure, you will be able to recall these things at all times.

¹⁵ Be very careful, for you saw no kind of form on the day that the LORD spoke to you in Horeb out of the middle of the fire, ¹⁶ that you not deal corruptly, and make for yourselves a graven image, a likeness of any figure, the form of a male or female,

¹² "Beware that you do not forget the LORD, for he brought you out of Egypt your house of bondage.

⁹ Then Moses and the priests, the Levites, said to all Israel, Be quiet and give ear, O Israel; today you have become the people of the Lord your God.

²⁵ Then they will answer themselves, 'Because they've abandoned the covenant of their LORD, the God of their ancestors that he had made with them when he brought them out of Egypt.

²⁰ because after I've brought them to the land flowing with milk and honey that I promised to their ancestors by an oath, they'll eat, grow fat, and then they'll turn to other gods and serve them, while despising me and breaking my covenant.

¹⁶ If you transgress the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded to you, and you go and serve other gods and bow down to them, the LORD's anger will be kindled against you, and you will perish quickly from the good land that he has given to you."

¹⁵ Remember his covenant forever, the word he commanded for a thousand generations,

⁵ The earth also is polluted under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant.

²² How long will you waver, O unfaithful daughter? For the LORD has created a new thing on the earth, a woman, she shelters a man."

⁵⁹ For so says the Sovereign LORD: I will even deal with you as you have done, who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant.

⁴ Jesus answered, “See to it that no one deceives you.

¹⁵ And He said to them, “Watch out! Guard yourselves against every form of greed, for a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

⁸ And he said, Watch out that you are not deceived! For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he,' and 'The time is near!' Do not go after them!

¹² See to it, my brothers, that no one of you has a wicked, unbelieving heart, that turns away from the ever-living God,

⁵ You shall not bow down to them in worship or serve them; because I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the iniquity of the parents, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me,

¹⁷ To the Israelites the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on top of the mountain.

¹⁴ for you shall worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

⁹ You shall not bow down to them in worship or serve them; because I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the iniquity of their parents, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me,

¹⁵ For the LORD your God who is among you is a jealous God. He will turn his anger against you and destroy you from the surface of the land."

³ You should know today that the LORD your God is the one crossing ahead of you as a devouring fire; he will destroy them, and he will subdue them before you; so you will dispossess them, and you will destroy them quickly, just as the LORD promised you.

²⁰ the LORD will never be willing to forgive him, but rather the anger of the LORD and / His jealousy will burn against that man. Every curse which is written in this book will rest on him. the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven.

¹⁶ They provoked him to jealousy over foreigners and to anger over detestable things.

²¹ They made me jealous with not God; They irritated me with their vanities: And I will make them jealous with not a people; With a foolish nation will I irritate them. ²² For a fire has been kindled in My anger, and it burns to the lowest Sheol, and consumes the earth and its produce; and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.

⁹ When you appear, you will set them ablaze like a fire furnace. In his wrath, the LORD will consume them, and the fire will devour them.

⁵⁸ And so they grieved him with their high places, and provoked him with their images.

²⁷ Behold, the name of the LORD comes from far, burning with His anger, and uplifting of smoke; His lips are full of fury, and His tongue like a devouring fire.

³³ For a place of fire has long been ready; yes, it has been made ready for the king; he has made it deep and wide: it is massed with fire and much wood; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of fire, puts a light to it.

¹⁴ The sinners in Zion are terrified. The godless tremble. Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with long lasting fire?

⁸ I am the LORD; that is my name, and I do not give my glory to another, nor my praise to the idols.

¹² O house of David! Thus, saith the LORD, Administer justice betimes, And deliver the robbed out of the hand of the oppressor,—Lest mine indignation come forth like fire And burn and there be none to quench it, Because of the wickedness of your doings: ¹³ Behold, I am against you, O dweller of the valley, rock of the plain, says the LORD, those who say, Who can come down against us? Or, Who can enter our dwellings? ¹⁴ But I'll punish you according to what you have done," declares the LORD. "I'll start a fire in her forest, and it will consume everything around her."'"

² The LORD is a jealous God and avenges. The LORD avenges and is full of wrath. The LORD takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he maintains wrath against his enemies.

⁶ His indignation—who can stand before it? Who can endure his fierce anger? His wrath is poured out like fire; rocks are shattered before him.

¹⁸ Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land.

⁸ Therefore, wait for Me, declares the LORD, for the day I rise up to the prey. For My judgment is to gather the nations, for Me to gather the kingdoms, to pour My fury out on them, all My hot anger. For all the earth shall be burned up with the fire of My jealousy.

²² Are we trying to provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

²⁹ for our God is a consuming fire.

¹⁶ that you not deal corruptly, and make for yourselves a graven image, a likeness of any figure, the form of a male or female,

¹⁶ And the Lord said to Moses, Now you are going to rest with your fathers; and this people will be false to me, uniting themselves to the strange gods of the land where they are going; they will be turned away from me and will not keep the agreement I have made with them. ¹⁷ Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day and I will forsake them and I will hide my face from them and they will be devoured and many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day, Have not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us? ¹⁸ But I will certainly hide my face on that day, because of all of the evil that they did because they turned to other gods.

²⁹ For I know that after my death you will become utterly corrupt, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you. And evil will happen to you in the latter end of the days, because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger through the work of your hands.

⁸ Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died at the age of a hundred and ten years old. ⁹ And they buried him within the bounds of his inheritance, in Timnath-heres, in the hill country of Ephraim,—on the north of Mount Gaash. ¹⁰ After all that generation were gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who didn't know the LORD, nor the work which he had done for Israel. ¹¹ The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and they served the Baals. ¹² They forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt. They followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them. They bowed to them and provoked the LORD to anger. ¹³ And they forsook the LORD and served Baal and the Ashtaroth. ¹⁴ Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of raiders who plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies. ¹⁵ Wherever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for harm, as the LORD had spoken, and as the LORD had sworn to them: and they were in great distress.

¹⁷ They made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire, they practiced divination and read omens, and they sold themselves to do evil in the eyes of the LORD to provoke him. ¹⁸ the LORD was very angry with Israel. He removed them from his sight. Only the tribe of Judah kept its place. ¹⁹ But even Judah did not obey the commands of the LORD their God. They were guided by the rules Israel made.

² He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, according to the detestable things of the nations that the LORD had driven out from the presence of the Israelites.

¹⁴ I will cast off the remnant of my inheritance, and deliver them into the hands of their enemies. They will become a prey and a plunder to all their enemies, ¹⁵ because they have done evil in My eyes, and have provoked Me to anger from the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day. ¹⁶ Moreover, Manasseh shed very much innocent blood until he filled Jerusalem from one end to another, apart from his sin which he caused Judah to sin by doing evil in the eyes of the LORD.

¹² And he did evil in the eyes of the LORD his God. He did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet who spoke for the LORD. ¹³ And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him take oath by God; and he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from returning to the LORD the God of Israel. ¹⁴ All the leaders of the priests and the people likewise increased in unfaithfulness according to all the detestable things of the nations. And they polluted the house of the LORD that he had consecrated in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: ¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

⁹ They have gone deep in depravity as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity. He will punish their sins.

²⁸ »‘If you make the land unclean, it will vomit you out as it has vomited out the people who were there before you.

³¹ I will lay your cities waste, and will bring your sanctuaries to desolation. I will not take delight in the sweet fragrance of your offerings. ³² And I myself will lay waste the land, and your enemies who are living in it shall be appalled over it. ³³ I will scatter you among the nations, and I will draw out the sword after you. Your land will be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste. ³⁴ Then the land will enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies' land. Even then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths. ³⁵ As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, even the rest which it did not have in your sabbaths, when you lived on it.

²⁸ Yahweh rooted them out of their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and thrust them into another land, as it is today.”

¹⁸ I'm declaring to you today that you will surely be destroyed. You won't live long in the land that you are crossing the Jordan River to enter and possess. ¹⁹ I call heaven and earth as witness this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live:

²⁸ Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.

¹ Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

² Hear, heavens, and listen, earth, for the LORD has spoken: "I reared children and I brought them up, but they rebelled against me.

¹¹ Then I said: "How long, O LORD? And He answered: "Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, until the houses are deserted and the land is utterly desolate.

¹ the LORD lays the earth waste, annihilates it, disfigures its surface and scatters its inhabitants. ² And it comes to be, as people, so priest, as servant, so his lord, as maid, so her mistress, as buyer, so seller, as borrowee, so borrower, as lender, so him to whom is lent." ³ The earth will be completely uninhabitable and totally plundered. the LORD has spoken this word.

¹² Be appalled, O heavens, at this, and shudder; be utterly desolate," declares the LORD.

¹⁹ "Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing disaster on this people as the fruit of their plans. This is because they have not listened to my words, and have rejected my law.

²⁹ O land, land, land, hear the word of the LORD.

²² The LORD could no longer bear it because of your evil deeds and the repulsive things that you did. So your land has become a ruin and an object of horror and ridicule without an inhabitant, as is the case today.

²⁸ And I will make the land a desolation and a wasteland, and the pride of its strength will come to an end, and the mountains of Israel will be desolate with no one traveling through them." '

⁴ '"'Therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign LORD. The Sovereign LORD says to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the forsaken cities that have become a prey and derision to the rest of the nations that are round about,

² Hear, you peoples, all of you. Listen, O earth and all who are in it and let the Sovereign LORD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

² Hear, you mountains, the LORD's controversy, and you enduring foundations of the earth; for the LORD has a controversy with his people, and he will contend with Israel.

²⁴ They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

³³ I will scatter you among the nations, and I will draw out the sword after you. Your land will be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.

⁶² "You were at one time as numerous as the stars in the sky. But only a few of you will be left. This is because you did not obey the LORD your God. ⁶³ Just as the LORD delighted to prosper and increase you, so now the LORD will delight to destroy, exterminate, and banish you from the land that you are about to enter to possess." ⁶⁴ "He'll scatter you among the peoples from one end of the earth to the other, and there you'll serve other gods made of wood and stones, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.

³ They replied to me, "The survivors in the province who have survived the captivity are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned in the fire."

⁸ Please, remember the word that you have commanded to your servant Moses, saying, 'If you act unfaithfully I will scatter you all among the nations. ⁹ but if you return to me, keeping my commands and doing them, even if your exiled people are in the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place where I have chosen to establish my Name.

¹⁵ “'They will know that I am the LORD when I disperse them among the nations, and scatter them through the countries.

²⁶ Meshech and Tubal are there and all of its hordes, all around him its graves, all of them uncircumcised and killed by the sword, for they gave their terror in the land of the living.

³⁶ "the LORD will bring you and your king, whom you set over you, to a nation that neither you nor your fathers have known. There you will serve other gods made of wood and stone.

⁶⁴ "He'll scatter you among the peoples from one end of the earth to the other, and there you'll serve other gods made of wood and stones, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.

¹⁹ Now let your majesty listen to the words of his servant. If the LORD incited you against me, then may he accept an offering. But if it is people, may they be cursed before the LORD, because they have driven me out today from sharing in the inheritance of the LORD by saying, 'Go serve other gods.'

⁴ Their idols, are silver and gold, the works of the hands of men,— ⁵ They have mouths, but cannot speak; they have eyes, but cannot see. ⁶ they have ears, but they cannot hear; they have noses, but they cannot smell; ⁷ They have hands but they cannot feel: They have feet, but they cannot walk: nor can they utter a sound with their throat. ⁸ Those who make them will be like them; yes, everyone who trusts in them.

¹⁵ The idols of the nations are silver and gold, Work of the hands of man. ¹⁶ They have a mouth, but cannot speak: eyes they have, but they cannot see; ¹⁷ they have ears, but they do not hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. ¹⁸ Those who make them will be like them, yes, everyone who trusts in them.

⁹ All who make idols are nothing. The things they treasure are worthless. Those who would speak up for them are blind. They are shamefully ignorant.

²⁰ »Come here, you refugees from the nations. Ignorant people carry wooden idols and pray to gods that cannot save anyone.

⁷ "They lift it to their shoulders and carry it. They set it up in its place and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move. Though one cries out to it, it does not answer. It cannot save him from his troubles!

³ For the customs of the peoples are vanity; for one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman with the ax.

⁹ Beaten silver is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz. It is the work of a craftsman and of the hands of a goldsmith. Violet and purple are their clothing. They are all the work of skilled men.

¹³ I'll throw you out of this land into a land neither you nor your ancestors have known. There you will serve other gods day and night, and I'll show you no favor.'

³² And it shall not be as ye say, We will be as the nations, and as the tribes of the earth, to worship stocks and stones.

³⁹ As for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Sovereign LORD: Go you. Serve each one his idols and hereafter also, if you will not listen to me. But you will no more profane my holy name with your gifts and with your idols.

³⁹ "'Those who are left will waste away in the lands of their enemies because of their sins and the sins of their ancestors. ⁴⁰ "'However if they confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors and the treacherous things they did to oppose me, ⁴¹ I also will walk contrary to them and will bring them into the land of their enemies. If then their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they then pay for their iniquity, ⁴² then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham; and I will remember the land.

¹ "All these blessings and curses I have spoken about will happen to you. Take them to heart when you are among all the nations where the LORD your God will scatter you. ² »If you and your children return to the LORD your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your being, doing everything I command you today, ³ then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and will show compassion to you. He will gather you from among the peoples where he had scattered you.

¹⁰ if you obey the LORD your God to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart with all your being.

⁴⁷ yet if they shall think within themselves in the land where they are carried captives, and repent, and pray to You in the land of their captors saying, We have sinned and have done perversely, we have done wickedly, ⁴⁸ and return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who captured them; and pray to you toward the land you gave their fathers - the city you chose and the house I built for your name:

³¹ But Jehu was not careful to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart; he did not turn from the sins of Jeroboam by which he caused Israel to sin.

³ The king stood by the pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and all his soul, to confirm the words of this covenant that were written in this book; and all the people agreed to the covenant.

⁴ But when in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.

¹² They also entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their ancestors with all their heart and soul,

¹⁵ And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found by them: and the LORD gave them rest on all sides.

²¹ And in every work which he undertook in the service of the house of the Lord, and in the law and in the statutes, he sought his God with his whole heart, and did it and prospered.

⁹ but if you return to me, keeping my commands and doing them, even if your exiled people are in the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place where I have chosen to establish my Name.

² Blessed are those who keep his statutes, who seek him with their whole heart.

¹⁰ I have sought you with all of my heart; do not let me drift away from your commands.

⁵⁸ I have sought your favor with all of my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.

¹⁴⁵ I cried with all my heart. Answer me, O LORD! I will observe your statutes.

⁶ Seek the LORD while he may be found. Call on him while he is near. ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

¹⁰ Yet even in all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to me with all her heart, but only in pretense," declares the LORD.

¹² Go, proclaim these words to the north, and say, 'Return, unfaithful Israel,' declares the LORD. 'I won't look on you in anger, for I am gracious,' declares the LORD. 'I won't remain angry forever. ¹³ 'Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have rebelled against the LORD your God, and have scattered your favors to strangers under every green tree. But you haven't obeyed me,' declares the LORD. ¹⁴ "Return, unfaithful people," declares the LORD, "for I am your husband. I'll take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I'll bring you to Zion.

¹² And you will call upon me and you will go and pray to me and I will listen to you. ¹³ You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. ¹⁴ 'I will let you find me, declares the LORD. I will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have scattered you,' declares the LORD. 'I will bring you back from the place where you are being held captive.'

¹² "And even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting, and weeping, and wailing."

¹ Then Jacob called his sons and said, "Gather together so that I can tell you what will happen with you in days to come.

⁸ Moses told his father-in-law everything the LORD had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel. He talked about all the hardships they had on the way, and how the LORD saved them.

²⁰ And he looked at Amalek, uttered his oracle, and said, "Amalek is first of the nations, but his future will be forever ruin."

¹⁷ Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day and I will forsake them and I will hide my face from them and they will be devoured and many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day, Have not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us?

⁴⁶ "If they sin against you (for there is not a person who does not sin) and you are angry with them and you give them to an enemy and they take them captive to the land of the enemy far or near, ⁴⁷ yet if they shall think within themselves in the land where they are carried captives, and repent, and pray to You in the land of their captors saying, We have sinned and have done perversely, we have done wickedly, ⁴⁸ and return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who captured them; and pray to you toward the land you gave their fathers - the city you chose and the house I built for your name: ⁴⁹ then in heaven, the place where you live, hear their prayer for mercy. Do what is right for them. ⁵⁰ »Forgive your people, who have sinned against you. Forgive all their wrongs when they rebelled against you. Cause those who captured them to have mercy on them. ⁵¹ (for they are your people, and your inheritance, which you brought out of Egypt, from the midst of the iron furnace); ⁵² Let your eyes be open to your servant's prayer for grace and to the prayer of your people Israel, hearing them when their cry comes to you. ⁵³ "You the LORD set them apart from all the people of the world. They are your own as you promised through your servant Moses when you brought our ancestors out of Egypt."

³⁶ When they sin against you—for there is no person who does not sin—and you become angry with them and place them before their enemy that they carry them away as captives to a land far or near, ³⁷ Yet if they come to themselves in the land where they are carried captive, and turn and pray unto you in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done wrong, and have dealt wickedly; ³⁸ if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity where they captured them; and pray in the way of the land you gave their fathers and the city you chose and the house I built for your name: ³⁹ then hear from heaven, even from Your dwelling place, their prayer and their petitions, and uphold their case and forgive Your people who have sinned against You.

¹⁹ "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land.

²³ but I did give them this command: Obey me and I'll be your God, and you will be my people. Walk in all the ways that I command you so it will go well for you.

²⁰ The anger of the LORD shall not turn back until He has executed, and until He has set up the purposes of His heart. In latter days you shall understand it perfectly.

⁴⁰ Let us search out our ways, and examine them well, and let us return unto the LORD;

¹¹ "And all Israel transgressed your law and turned aside so as not to listen to your voice, and so the curse and the oath which was written in the law of Moses, the servant of God, has been poured out upon us, because we have sinned against him. ¹² He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our rulers who ruled us, by bringing on us a great calamity; for under the whole heaven such has not been done as has been done on Jerusalem. ¹³ As it's written in the Law of Moses, all this calamity has befallen us, but we still haven't sought the LORD our God by turning from our lawlessness to pay attention to your truth. ¹⁴ So the LORD watched for the right time to bring the calamity upon us, because the LORD our God is righteous regarding everything he does, but we have not obeyed his voice. ¹⁵ And now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and made for Yourself a name, as it is this day; we have sinned; we have done evilly. ¹⁶ Lord, in view of all your righteous acts, please turn your anger and wrath away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain. Because of our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors, Jerusalem and your people have become an embarrassment to all of those around us. ¹⁷ So now, O God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his requests, and look with favor on your desolate sanctuary, for the sake of the Lord. ¹⁸ My God, turn your ear, and hear; open your eyes, and see our desolation, and the city which is called by your name. For we do not present our petitions before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercy. ¹⁹ O Lord, hear. O Lord, forgive. O Lord, listen and do. Defer not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name.

¹⁴ "Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the future for the vision is yet for many days."

⁵ Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king, and shall come with trembling to the LORD and to his blessings in the last days.

² Take words with you, and return to the LORD. Tell him, "Forgive all our sins, and accept that which is good, and we will offer the fruit of our lips. ³ Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride on horses. We shall not say any more to the work of our hands, Our gods! For in You the fatherless finds mercy.

¹² "And even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting, and weeping, and wailing." ¹³ Tear your heart, and not your garments, and turn to the LORD, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity.

¹⁵ Those who are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD; and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. This will happen, if you will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God."'"

¹⁹ Repent therefore, and turn again, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

²⁰ but to those in Damascus first, and in Jerusalem and all the region of Judea and to the Gentiles, I proclaimed that they should repent and turn to God, doing deeds worthy of repentance.

² But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.

⁹ and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him,

⁶ And the LORD passed over before him, and he proclaimed, "the LORD, the LORD, God, who is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding with loyal love and faithfulness, ⁷ "He graciously loves thousands, and forgives iniquity, transgression, and sin. But he does not leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of the ancestors on their children, and on their children's children to the third and fourth generation."

⁴² then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham; and I will remember the land.

⁴⁵ but for their sakes I will remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am the LORD.

¹⁸ 'the LORD is slow to anger and great of loyal love, forgiving sin and rebellion; but surely he leaves nothing unpunished, visiting the sin of the fathers on the sons to the third and fourth generations.'

⁶ Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, nor be scared of them: for the LORD your God is he who is going with you; he will not leave you nor forsake you."

⁸ the LORD himself is who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be discouraged.”

⁵ No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you.

²⁰ David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and courageous, and do it. Don't be afraid, nor be dismayed; for the LORD God, even my God, is with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.

⁹ For when you return to the LORD, your brothers and your children will find compassion before their captors and return to this land, for the LORD your God is gracious and compassionate, and he will not turn away his face from you if you return to him."

⁵ and said, "I beg you, LORD, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with those who love him and keep his commandments:

³¹ But for Your great mercies, You did not consume nor forsake them; for You are a gracious and merciful God.

⁵ for you, O Adonay, are good and forgiving - abundant in mercy to all who call on you.

¹⁵ But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abundant in loyal love and faithfulness.

⁸ He remembered his covenant forever, the word he commanded to a thousand generations.

⁵ He gives food to those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.

⁹ He sent redemption unto his people: he has commanded his covenant forever: holy and awesome is his name.

⁵ The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is compassionate;

⁸ the LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in loyal love. ⁹ the LORD is good to all, And His compassions are over all His works."

²¹ For the sake of your name, do not despise us. Do not dishonor your glorious throne. Remember your promise to us. Do not break it.

² And he prayed to the LORD and said, "O LORD, was this not what I said while I was in my homeland? Therefore I originally fled to Tarshish, because I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and having great steadfast love, and one who relents concerning calamity.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not keep His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.

⁷² to show mercy to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

²⁷ And God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.

⁴ Even if the LORD had banished you to the ends of the heavens, the LORD your God will gather you from there

⁷ Remember the days of old; consider the years of many generations. Ask your father, and he will show you; your elders, and they will tell you.

⁸ "Ask the former generations and find out what their fathers learned.

¹ [To the Chief Musician for the Sons of Korah, a maschil.] We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the times of old.

² Hear this, you elders, And listen, all you inhabitants of the land. Has this ever happened in your days, or in the days of your fathers?

³¹ And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

²⁷ He will send out his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven."

¹⁸ Mount Sinai was all in smoke because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace. The whole mountain quaked violently! ¹⁹ When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.

¹¹ But he did not lay his hand upon the princes of the sons of Israel, and they saw God and ate and drank.

²⁰ But he said: "You cannot see my face, because no one may see me and live."

²⁴ For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. ²⁵ "When you have had children and grandchildren and you have grown old in the land and you act corruptly and you make a divine image of the form of anything and you do evil in the eyes of the LORD your God, thus provoking him to anger, ²⁶ I call Heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land which you are crossing over Jordan to possess. You shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.

²⁴ and ye said, 'Behold, the LORD our God hath showed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the fire, and we have seen this day that God may talk with a man and he yet live.

¹⁰ "Then the LORD gave me the two stone tablets inscribed by God's finger (Holy Spirit). On them were written all the words the LORD spoke to you from the fire on the mountain on the day of the assembly.

²² Gideon saw that he was the angel of the LORD, and Gideon said, Alas, Sovereign LORD! I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!

⁹ And he said to his people, "Look, the people of the Israelites are greater and more numerous than us.

¹⁰ So go! I am sending you to Pharaoh. Bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."

¹⁷ And I have said it, that I will bring you out of the tribulation of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites: even a land that floweth with milk and honey.' ¹⁸ "The elders of Israel will listen to you, and then you and they are to go to the king of Egypt and say to him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now, let us take a three day journey into the desert to sacrifice to the LORD our God.' ¹⁹ But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go, but by a mighty hand. ²⁰ "So I will stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with all my wonders that I will do in it’s midst. After that he will let you go.

⁶ Therefore say to the Israelites, 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the forced labor of Egypt, and I will deliver you from their slavery, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great punishments.

³ But I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that I may multiply my miracles and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

²⁰ Of the servants of Pharaoh, the one who feared the word of the LORD made his slaves and his livestock flee to the houses. ²¹ and he that did not regard the word of the LORD left his slaves and his livestock in the field.

⁷ Pharaoh's servants said to him, "How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve the LORD, their God. Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?"

³⁰ Pharaoh got up during the night, he, all his officials, and all the Egyptians, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead in it. ³¹ And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up! Get away from my people, both you and the sons of Israel! And go serve the LORD, as you have said. ³² Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and go. And bless me also. ³³ The Egyptians begged the people to leave the country quickly. They said: "We will all be dead soon!"

³ And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery; for the LORD has brought you out of here with a strong hand; therefore, ye shall not eat with leaven.

¹⁵ Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm: therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

²¹ tell him, 'We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, but the LORD brought us out of Egypt with great power.

⁸ But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn to your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bond-men, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. ⁹ Know therefore that the LORD your God himself is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness to a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments,

¹⁹ Your eyes saw the great trials, the signs and wonders, the awesome power with which the LORD your God brought you out. "The LORD your God will do the same to all the people whom you fear.

⁸ »‘the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with great terror and with signs and wonders.

³ Your eyes have seen the great trials, the signs, and those great miracles.

¹² and in all the mighty hand, and in all the awesome deeds, which Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

¹² He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

⁴⁸ He gave up their cattle to the hail, and their flocks to bolts of fire. ⁴⁹ He sent against them his fierce anger, rage and indignation and trouble, a band of destroying angels. ⁵⁰ He cleared a path for his anger. He did not spare them from death but handed their life over to the plague. ⁵¹ And he struck all the first-born in Egypt, the firstfruits of strength in the tents of Ham; ⁵² and brought out his people like sheep, and led them like a flock in the desert, ⁵³ He led them safely, so that they weren't afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

²¹ and brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, with wonders, with a strong hand, with an outstretched arm, and with great terror;

⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,

¹¹ "Who is like you among the gods, LORD! Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in splendor, and working wonders!

³⁹ "May you acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in the heavens above and over the earth below there is no other God.

²³ I will heap evils upon them, and will spend my arrows among them.

³⁹ See, now, that I, even I am he, and there is not a god besides me; I put to death and I give life; I wound and I heal; there is not one who delivers from my hand!

² There is no one holy like the LORD, indeed there is no one besides you, there is no rock like our God.

⁴⁵ Then David said to the Philistine, You come against me with a sword, a spear and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Armies, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. ⁴⁶ Today the LORD shall shut you up into my hand, and I shall strike you, and take off your head from you and give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the heavens and to the beasts of the earth today. And all the earth shall know that there is a God for Israel. ⁴⁷ and all this assembly do know that not by sword and by spear does the LORD save, that the battle [is] the LORD's, and He has given you into our hand..

³⁶ At the time of the evening offering, Elijah the prophet came near, and said, “the LORD, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. ³⁷ Answer me, O LORD, answer me; that this people may know that you, O LORD, are God and that you have turned their hearts back again."

¹⁹ And now, O Lord our God, deliver us out of his hand, and all the kingdoms of the earth shall know that You alone are the Lord God.

¹¹ A person will say, "Certainly, the righteous are rewarded; certainly there is a God who judges the earth."

¹⁸ And let them know Your name is the LORD, that You alone are the Most High over all the earth.

⁶ the LORD says thus, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last and besides me there is no God.

⁸ "'Do not tremble. Do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses! Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock. There is not one!'"

⁵ I am the LORD, and there is no other. Besides me, there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not known me;

¹⁸ the LORD says: "Who created the heavens? He who is God. He fashioned and made the earth. He founded it and he did not create it to be empty but formed it to be inhabited." He says: "I am the LORD, and there is no other.

²² Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

²⁹ Jesus answered: The first is, Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.

³² “Right, Teacher,” the scribe replied. “You have stated correctly that God is One and there is no other but Him,

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. ²¹ My children, keep yourselves from idols.

¹⁹ When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.

¹⁸ The people heard the thunder and the trumpet blast. They saw the lightning and the smoking mountain. They trembled with fear and stood at a distance. ¹⁹ They said to Moses, "Speak with us yourself, and we will listen; but do not let God speak with us, lest we die." ²⁰ And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you so that his fear will be before you so that you do not sin." ²¹ The people stayed at a distance, and Moses came near to the thick darkness where God was. ²² the LORD commanded Moses to tell the Israelites: »You have seen how I have spoken to you from heaven.

¹⁶ The glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. Then on the seventh day he called to Moses from within the cloud.

¹³ "You came down also on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments,

¹⁸ For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom, and storm;

⁹ And it will be for a sign to you upon your hand and for a memorial between your eyes, that the law of the LORD may be in your mouth, because the LORD has brought you out of Egypt with a strong hand.

¹⁴ And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, 'What is this?' Thou shalt say unto him, 'With a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹⁴ He said, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."

³⁴ Or has a god ever attempted to go to take for himself a nation from the midst of a nation, using trials and signs and wonders and war, with an outstretched arm and with great and awesome deeds, like all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

⁷ The LORD did not set his love on you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples:

⁵ It is not because of your righteousness and because of the uprightness of your heart that you are coming to take possession of their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations the LORD your God is driving them before you, and in order to confirm the promise that the LORD swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

¹⁵ "Yet the LORD set his affection on your fathers. He loved them. He chose you their descendants above all peoples, as it is this day.

⁹ For the eyes of the LORD roam throughout all the earth to strengthen those whose heart is fully devoted to him. You have been foolish in this, for from now on you will have wars."

⁸ I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you.

¹⁵ The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry.

⁶ O seed of Abraham, His servant, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones. ⁷ He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth. ⁸ He remembered his covenant forever, the word he commanded to a thousand generations. ⁹ Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac; ¹⁰ He presented it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant.

¹ When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of foreign language, ² Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his dominion. ³ The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back; ⁴ The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. ⁵ What was it, you sea, that you fled? You Jordan, that you turned back? ⁶ O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O hills, like lambs?

¹⁰ to Him who struck down the Egyptian firstborn; for His grace endures forever; ¹¹ and brought Israel out from among them; for His mercy endures forever; ¹² With a mighty hand and stretched-out arm! For his mercy endureth forever. ¹³ to Him who divided the Red Sea apart; for His grace endures forever; ¹⁴ and brought Israel through the midst of it; for His mercy endures forever; ¹⁵ but threw Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea; for His mercy endures forever.

⁸ "However you, O Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham, my friend, ⁹ "'I took you from the ends of the earth. I called you from its farthest corners. I said: 'You are my servant. I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

⁹ Awake, awake! Clothe yourself with strength, O arm of the LORD. Awake, as in days gone by, as in generations of old. Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced that monster through? ¹⁰ Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made a road in the depths of the sea so that the redeemed might cross over? ¹¹ the LORD's ransomed will return. They will enter Zion with singing! Everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.

¹¹ Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying, “Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put his Holy Spirit among them?” ¹² Who caused his glorious arm to be at Moses' right hand? Who divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

¹ "At that time," declares the LORD, "I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they will be to me a people."

² I have loved you, says the LORD. Yet you say, How have you loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother, says the LORD. Yet I loved Jacob,

⁷² to show mercy to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; ⁷³ the oath that He swore to our father Abraham;

⁵ Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them proceeds the human descent of Christ, who is God over all, forever worthy of praise! Amen.

²⁷ I will send my terror before you, and will confuse all the people to whom you come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. ²⁸ I'll send hornets ahead of you and they'll drive out the Hivites, the Canaanites, and the Hittites before you.

³¹ "Then the LORD said to me, 'See, I've begun to deliver Sihon and his territory over to you. Prepare to take possession of his land.'

¹ "When the LORD your God brings you into the land that you are entering to possess, he will drive out many nations before you: the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, seven nations who are more numerous and stronger than you.

¹⁸ But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today.

¹ Hear, Israel! Thou art now about to cross the Jordan, to go in to possess nations much greater and stronger than you, large cities, which are walled up to the sky, ² The Anakim are strong and tall, and you know them. You've heard it said, 'Who can stand up against the Anakim?' ³ You should know today that the LORD your God is the one crossing ahead of you as a devouring fire; he will destroy them, and he will subdue them before you; so you will dispossess them, and you will destroy them quickly, just as the LORD promised you. ⁴ "You shall not say to yourself when the LORD your God is driving them out before you, saying, 'Because of my righteousness the LORD brought me to take possession of this land'; but because of the wickedness of these nations the LORD is driving them out before you. ⁵ It is not because of your righteousness and because of the uprightness of your heart that you are coming to take possession of their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations the LORD your God is driving them before you, and in order to confirm the promise that the LORD swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

²³ then the LORD will drive out all of these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations larger and more numerous than you.

¹⁰ And Joshua said, "Hereby ye shall know, that the living God is among you, and that he will, without fail, cast out before you the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Hivites, the Perezites, the Gergesites, the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

² You with your hand drove out the nations, but them you planted. You harmed the peoples, but them you let spread out. ³ For not with their sword did they possess the land, and their arm did not give them victory. Rather it was your right hand and your arm and the light of your presence, because you delighted in them.

³⁵ It was shown to you so that you might know that the LORD is God, and no one else beside Him.

²⁹ If only they were wise, they would understand this; they would discern for themselves their end.

¹¹ When we heard these reports, we all became terrified and discouraged because of you, for the LORD your God is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath.

⁹ "And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and a willing mind, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and all thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you forever.

¹¹ Yours, O Lord, is the strength and the power and the glory, and the authority and the honour: for everything in heaven and on earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are lifted up as head over all.

⁶ and he said, "O LORD, the God of our fathers, aren't you God in heaven? Aren't you ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in your hand, so that no one is able to withstand you.

³ Our God is in heaven. He does whatever he pleases.

⁶ The LORD does whatever pleases him in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all its deep regions.

³ The ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master's crib; but Israel doesn't know, my people do not understand.

¹² And the harp and the viol, the tambourine and flutes and wine are in their feasts; but they do not regard the work of the LORD, nor consider the work of his hands.

³⁵ And all the people of the earth are as nothing: he does his pleasure in the army of heaven and among the people of the earth: and no one is able to keep back his hand, or say to him, What are you doing?

² But they did not consider that I remember all their wickedness. Now their deeds surround them; they are before my face.

¹ "'Do not make idols or set up statues, stone pillars, or carved stones to worship. I am the LORD your God! ² "'You shall keep my Sabbaths, and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the LORD. ³ "'If you live according to my laws and obey my commands, ⁴ then I will give your rains in their season and the land will yield its increase and the trees of the field will yield their fruit. ⁵ Your threshing shall continue until the vintage, and the vintage shall continue until the sowing time. You shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely. ⁶ And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, with none to make you afraid; and I will remove evil beasts out of the land, and the sword shall not pass through your land. ⁷ And you shall pursue your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. ⁸ And five of you will chase a hundred and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand and your enemies will fall before you by the sword. ⁹ And I will turn to you, and I will make you fruitful, and I will make you numerous; and I will keep my covenant with you. ¹⁰ You shall eat old store long kept, and you shall move out the old because of the new. ¹¹ I will make my dwelling place among you, and my soul shall not loathe you. ¹² I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be my people. ¹³ "'I am the LORD your God. I brought you out of Egypt so that you are no longer slaves of the Egyptians. I have broken their power over you and made you live as a free people.

⁶ Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and discernment in the eyes of people who'll listen to all these decrees. Then they'll say: 'Surely this great nation is a wise and discerning people.'

¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that your days may be made longer, and that it may go well with you in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

³³ Walk in every way that the LORD your God commanded you, so that life may go well for you, and so that you will prolong your days in the land that you will possess.'"

³ "Listen, O Israel, and be careful to obey these laws. Things will go well for you and your population will increase in a land flowing with milk and honey. This is what the LORD the God of your ancestors promised you.

¹⁸ Do what is good and right in the LORD's sight so it may go well with you. Then you'll enter and possess the good land that the LORD your God promised to your ancestors,

²⁵ You shall not eat it, so that it will go well for you and your children after you, because then you will be doing what is right in the eyes of the LORD.

²⁸ Be careful to obey all these things that I am commanding you, so that it will go well for you and for your children after you forever, because then you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the LORD your God.

⁷ You may take the young but be sure to release the mother, so that life will go well for you and that you may have a long life.

¹ "Indeed, if you diligently obey the LORD your God to carry out all his commands that I'm giving you today, then the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. ² Moreover, all these blessings will come upon you in abundance, if you obey the LORD your God: ³ You shall be blessed in the city, and be blessed in the field. ⁴ The fruit of your body will be blessed and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beasts, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock. ⁵ Your basket and your kneading-trough will be blessed. ⁶ You shall be blessed when you come in, and blessed when you go out. ⁷ The LORD will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways. ⁸ "the LORD will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land the LORD your God gives you. ⁹ "the LORD will establish you as a holy people to himself. He swore this to you, if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. ¹⁰ And all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall fear you. ¹¹ the LORD will grant you abundant prosperity in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. ¹² the LORD will open to you his good treasure in the sky, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, and you will not borrow. ¹³ The Lord will make you the head and not the tail; and you will ever have the highest place, if you give ear to the orders of the Lord your God which I give you today, to keep and to do them; ¹⁴ and do not turn aside from any of the words I command you today, to the right or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

¹⁵ If you love me you will keep my commands,

²¹ He who has my commands and keeps them — he is the one that loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will show myself to him." ²² Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, why Lord, will you show your self to us, and not to the world? ²³ Jesus replied. "If any loves me he will obey my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. ²⁴ "He who does not love me does not obey my words. The word you hear is not mine, but comes from the Father who sent me.

³ “that it may go well with you and that you may be long-lived on the earth.”

⁸ Now physical exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, holding promises for both this present life and the one to come.

⁶ "Six of the cities you give the Levites will be cities of refuge. You must allow murderers to escape to these cities. In addition, you must also give the Levites forty-two other cities.

¹⁴ three ye shall give on this side Jordan and three in the land of Canaan. ¹⁵ "These six cities will be places of refuge for Israelites, foreigners, and strangers among you. Anyone who unintentionally kills another person may flee to these cities.

² "Tell the people of Israel, 'Set apart cities of refuge about which I spoke to you through Moses, ³ »anyone who kills someone accidentally and unintentionally may go there for a refuge from the avenger of blood. ⁴ The killer will flee to one of these cities, stand at the entrance of the gate of the city, and state his case to the elders of that city; and they will take him into the city and give him a place, and he will dwell among them. ⁵ And if the avenger of blood pursues after him, they will not hand over the killer into his hand, because he killed his neighbor unintentionally, and he did not hate him previously. ⁶ He shall live in that city until he stands trial before the community, until the death of the one who is high priest at that time. Then the killer may return to his own city and to his own home, that is, to the city from which he fled.'" ⁷ So they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah. ⁸ Beyond the Jordan east of Jericho, they appointed Bezer in the wilderness on the plateau, from the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in the Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh. ⁹ These were the appointed cities for all the children of Israel, and for the alien who lives among them, that whoever kills any person unintentionally might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stands trial before the congregation.

¹¹ you will select for yourselves cities for your cities of refuge, that a killer who has killed a person unintentionally can flee there. ¹² those cities will be places of refuge from the avenger of blood, that the manslayer may not die, until he stand before the congregation for trial.

¹⁵ "These six cities will be places of refuge for Israelites, foreigners, and strangers among you. Anyone who unintentionally kills another person may flee to these cities. ¹⁶ But if he strikes him with an instrument of iron, so that he dies, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death. ¹⁷ And if he smote him with a stone in the hand, whereby a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death. ¹⁸ Or if he smites him with a wooden instrument in his hand by which one may die, and he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall be put to death, yea death. ¹⁹ the avenger of blood, he shall put the murderer to death; when he meeteth him, he shall put him to death. ²⁰ And if he thrust at him out of hatred, or hurl at him intentionally, so that he die, ²¹ or in hostility struck him with his hand, so that he died, he who struck him shall surely be put to death. He is a murderer. The avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death when he meets him. ²² But if he have thrust at him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him anything unintentionally, ²³ or, when not seeing him, he causes any stone by which one may die to fall on him and he dies, yet he was not his enemy and was not seeking his evil, ²⁴ then the assembly shall judge between the smiter and the avenger of blood, according to these judgments. ²⁵ »If you are innocent, the community must protect you from that relative. They must take you back to the city of refuge you fled to. You must live there until the death of the chief priest who was anointed with the holy oil. ²⁶ But if the killer surely goes out of the territory of the city of his refuge to which he fled, ²⁷ and the avenger of blood find him outside the border of his city of refuge and the avenger of blood kills the manslayer, he will not be guilty of blood, ²⁸ because he must live in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest the killer will return to the land of his property.

¹ "When the LORD your God destroys those nations whose lands he is about to give you, you must dispossess them and live in their cities and houses. ² separate three cities for you midst the land Yah Veh your Elohim gives you to possess. ³ Build roads throughout the land that the LORD your God is providing as an inheritance, and then divide it into three districts so that any killer may flee there. ⁴ This is the case of the man slayer who shall flee there and live: Whoever kills his neighbor unintentionally, and didn't hate him in time past— ⁵ as when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to chop wood and his hand swings the ax to cut down the tree, and the head slips from the handle and hits his neighbor so that he dies—he shall flee to one of these cities and live. ⁶ "Otherwise the avenger of blood might pursue the manslayer in the heat of his anger. He may overtake him and because the way is long he may take his life. Even though he was not deserving of death, since he had not hated him previously. ⁷ Therefore I command you, saying, You shall separate for yourself three cities. ⁸ "If the LORD your God enlarges your territory, just as he has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land he promised to give your fathers. ⁹ and if you are careful to observe all these commands that I am commanding you today to love the LORD your God and to walk daily in his ways then add three more cities in addition to these three cities. ¹⁰ so that innocent blood will not be shed in your land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance, and so guilt for blood be upon you.

¹⁸ Thus by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be strongly encouraged.

⁸ Beyond the Jordan east of Jericho, they appointed Bezer in the wilderness on the plateau, from the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in the Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh.

²⁷ To the descendants of Gershon, one of the families of the Levites, from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan, a city of refuge for the killer, and its pasturelands, and Eshtarah and its pasturelands; two cities.

³⁸ From the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead, the city of refuge for the killer, and its pasturelands, Mahanaim and its pasturelands,

¹³ Ben-Geber, in Ramoth-Gilead, has the small towns of Jair son of Manasseh, which [are] in Gilead; he has a portion of Argob that [is] in Bashan, sixty great cities [with] wall and brazen bar.

³ and the king of Israel said to his servants, "Do you know Ramoth-Gilead belongs to us, and we are doing nothing about taking it from the hand of the king of Aram?" ⁴ He said to Jehoshaphat, "Will you go with me to battle to Ramoth Gilead?" Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses."

⁷¹ The Gershonites received the following: From the clan of the half-tribe of Manasseh they received Golan in Bashan and also Ashtaroth, together with their pasturelands,

⁸⁰ and from the tribe of Gad they received Ramoth in Gilead, Mahanaim,

³⁴ These are the commandments the LORD gave Moses on Mount Sinai for the Israelites.

¹³ These are the commandments and rules the LORD gave the Israelites through Moses on the plains of Moab near the Jordan River across from Jericho.

⁵ beyond the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain this law, saying,

¹⁸ When he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he must write for himself a copy of this law in a book, out of that which is before the priests, the Levites. ¹⁹ And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to revere the LORD your God by diligently observing all the word of this law and these rules,

³ and write on them all the words of the Law. When you cross over to enter the land the LORD your God gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, promised you.

⁸ And you shall write all the words of this Law very plainly on the stones.

²⁶ 'Cursed is he who doesn't uphold the words of this law by doing them.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'”

⁴ A law hath Moses commanded us, A possession of the assembly of Jacob.

⁴ Remember the law of My servant Moses which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, the statutes and judgments.

¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

¹⁷ Be sure to observe the commands of the LORD your God, his testimonies and his decrees that he gave you.

²⁰ "In the future your son will ask you: 'What is the meaning of these laws and regulations that the LORD our God has commanded you?'

³ You shall keep the charge of the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, his commandments, his judgments, and his testimonies, as are written in the law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all that you do and everywhere you turn,

⁵ Oh that my ways were steadfast to obey your statutes!

⁷ I will praise you with an upright heart, as I learn your righteous decrees.

¹⁴ I rejoice in the way of your witnesses as over all wealth;

²² Remove from me scorn and contempt, for I have kept your testimonies.

²⁴ Yea, Thy testimonies are my delight, they are my counsellors.

¹¹¹ I inherited thy testimonies forever: for they are the joy of my heart.

²¹ Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying, ²² "Let us go through your country. We will not go through any of your fields or vineyards or drink any of the water from your wells. We will stay on the king's highway until we have passed through your territory." ²³ Sihon would not let Israel pass through his territory. Sihon gathered all his troops and came out into the desert to attack Israel. When Sihon's troops came to Jahaz, they fought against Israel. ²⁴ Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the children of Ammon; for the border of the children of Ammon was fortified. ²⁵ Israel took all these cities. Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages. ²⁶ For Heshbon was the town of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who had made war against an earlier king of Moab and taken from him all his land as far as the Arnon. ²⁷ Therefore the poets say, Come to Heshbon; let the city of Sihon be built and established. ²⁸ Because fire went out from Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon; it consumed Ar of Moab, the lords of the high places of Arnon. ²⁹ Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, O people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites. ³⁰ And we shot at them. Heshbon has perished as far as Dibon. And we have laid waste as far as Nophah, which reaches to Medeba." ³¹ So Israel lived in the land of the Amorites. ³² And Moses sent to spy out Ya’zer, and they captured the villages thereof, and drove out the Emorites that were there.

¹⁹ For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has come to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.”

⁴ This took place after he defeated Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon and Og, king of Bashan, who lived in Ashtaroth at Edrei. ⁵ beyond the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain this law, saying,

³⁰ But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for the LORD your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as it is today. ³¹ "Then the LORD said to me, 'See, I've begun to deliver Sihon and his territory over to you. Prepare to take possession of his land.' ³² Then Sihon and all his people came out to meet us for battle at Jahaz. ³³ The LORD our God delivered him to us, so we attacked him, his son, and his whole army. ³⁴ At that time we took all his towns, and gave them over to complete destruction, together with men, women, and children; we had no mercy on any: ³⁵ But the domestic beasts we plundered for ourselves, and the loot of the cities that we had seized. ³⁶ From Aroer on the edge of Arnon Valley and from the town all the way to Gilead, there was no city that was too strong for us the LORD our God delivered them all to us.

⁸ "So at that time we took control from the two Amorite kings the territory east of the Jordan from Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon.

²⁹ So we stayed in the valley near Beth Peor.

⁴⁷ So they took possession of his land, as well as the land of Og king of Bashan. Both Amorite kings lived east of the Jordan

³³ Then they turned and went up by the way of the Bashan, and Og king of the Bashan and all his people went out to meet them for battle at Edrei. ³⁴ the LORD said to Moses: "Do not fear him for I have given him into your hand, and all his people and his land. You will do to him as you did to Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon." ³⁵ So they struck him, with his sons and all his people, until there were no survivors; and they possessed his land.

¹ And we turned and went up by the way of Bashan, and Og the king of Bashan came out to meet us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei. ² "the LORD said to me: 'Do not be afraid of him. I will hand him, all his army, and his land, over to you. Do to him what you did to King Sihon of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon.' ³ "So the LORD our God also delivered into our control Og king of Bashan, along with his whole army. We attacked him until there were no survivors. ⁴ And we took all his cities at that time. There was not a city which we did not take from them, sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. ⁵ All these cities were fortified with high walls, gates, and bars; besides a good many unwalled towns. ⁶ And we utterly destroyed them, as we had done to Sehon the king of Hesebon, destroying every city, men and women and children: ⁷ But all the livestock, and the plunder of the cities, we took for plunder for ourselves. ⁸ "So at that time we took control from the two Amorite kings the territory east of the Jordan from Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon. ⁹ (Sidonians call Hermon, Sirion; and the Amorites call it Senir,) ¹⁰ All the towns of the table-land and all Gilead and Bashan as far as Salecah and Edrei, towns of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. ¹¹ »Of the Rephaim only King Og of Bashan was left. His bed was made of iron and was more than thirteen feet long and six feet wide. It is still in the Ammonite city of Rabbah. ¹² "Of the land that we captured at that time, I've given its towns to the Reubenites and the Gaddites from Aroer near the Wadi Arnon to half of the hill country of Gilead. ¹³ And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, to all Bashan that is called the land of the giants. ¹⁴ Jair the son of Manasseh took the whole region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, and called Bashan after his own name, Havoth-Jair, to this day.)

⁷ When you came to this place, Sihon, king of Heshbon, and Og, king of Bashan, came out to make war against us and we overcame them: ⁸ "We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of the Manassites.

³⁶ From Aroer on the edge of Arnon Valley and from the town all the way to Gilead, there was no city that was too strong for us the LORD our God delivered them all to us.

⁹ (Sidonians call Hermon, Sirion; and the Amorites call it Senir,)

¹² "Of the land that we captured at that time, I've given its towns to the Reubenites and the Gaddites from Aroer near the Wadi Arnon to half of the hill country of Gilead.

²⁴ And Moses gave their heritage to the tribe of Gad by their families. ²⁵ And their limit was Jazer, and all the towns of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, to Aroer before Rabbah; ²⁶ and from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir; ²⁷ and in the valley, Beth Haram, Beth Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, the Jordan’s bank, to the uttermost part of the sea of Chinnereth beyond the Jordan eastward. ²⁸ This is the possession of the children of Gad by their families, their cities, and villages. ²⁹ Moses gave an inheritance to the half-tribe of Manasseh; it was for the half-tribe of the descendants of Manasseh according to their families. ³⁰ Their territory extended from Mahanaim to include all of Bashan, all of the kingdom of King Og of Bashan, all of the 60 towns of Jair there in Bashan, ³¹ and, half Gilead and Ashtaroth and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, pertained to the sons of Machir son of Manasseh, to half the sons of Machir by their families. ³² These are the inheritances which Moses distributed in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan at Jericho, eastward. ³³ But to the tribe of Levi Moses gave no inheritance. the LORD, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, as he spoke to them.

³ Like the dew of Hermon, which fell upon the hill of Zion. For there the LORD promised his blessing, and life forevermore.

¹⁷ the Arabah also, and the Jordan and its border, from Chinnereth to the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah eastward.

¹ Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, opposite from Jericho. the LORD showed him all the land of Gilead to Dan,

²⁰ Beth Peor, the slopes of Pisgah, and Beth Jeshimoth;
