2 He sent messengers into the city to King Ahab of Israel to say: "King Benhadad demands that
3 Your silver and your gold are mine, and your wives and your children are mine.
4 The king of Israel answered, "It is according to your saying, my lord, O king. I am yours, and all that I have."
5 The messengers came again, and said, "Ben Hadad says, 'I sent indeed to you, saying, "You shall deliver me your silver, and your gold, and your wives, and your children;
6 So at this time tomorrow, I will send my servants to you that they might search your house and the houses of your servants. All the desire of your eyes they will lay hands on and take it away.'"
7 Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land and said, Please notice how this man seeks mischief; for he sent to me for my wives, my children, my silver, my gold; and I didn't deny him.
8 All the elders and all the people said to him, Don't listen, neither consent.
9 Therefore he said to the messengers of Ben Hadad, "Tell my lord the king, 'All that you sent for to your servant at the first I will do; but this thing I cannot do.'" The messengers departed, and brought him back the message.
10 Then Ben-hadad sent to him, saying, May the gods' punishment be on me if there is enough of the dust of Samaria for all the people at my feet to take some in their hands.
11 The king of Israel answered, Tell him, 'Don't let him who puts on his armour brag like he who takes it off'.
12 Benhadad heard this when he and his allies were drinking in their tents. He told his officers to get ready. So they got prepared to attack the city.
13 A prophet approached King Ahab of Israel and said: "This is what the LORD says: 'Have you seen this large army? I will hand it over to you today. Then you will know that I am the LORD.'"
14 Ahab asked: "How will this be done?" The prophet answered: "This is what the LORD says: 'By using the young officers of the district governors." "Who will start the battle?" Ahab asked. "You will," the prophet answered.
15 So Ahab gathered together 232 young men who served as officials within the provinces and then mustered 7,000 soldiers from among the Israelites.
16 They went out at noon while Ben-Hadad was drinking himself drunk in the tents, he and the thirty-two kings helping him.
17 The young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Ben Hadad sent out, and they told him, saying, Men are coming out from Samaria.

9 So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, "Your son Benhadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, 'Will I recover from this sickness?'"
10 Elisha said to him, "Go; say to him, 'You shall certainly recover,' but the LORD has shown me that he certainly will die."
11 Then Elisha looked steadily at Hazael until Hazael grew ashamed, and then the man of God began to cry.
12 "Why are you crying, sir?" Hazael asked. "Because I know the evil that you're about to bring on the Israelites," he replied. "You'll burn down their fortified cities, execute their young men with swords, dash to pieces their little ones, and you'll tear open their pregnant women!"
13 Then Hazael said, "But how could your servant, who is like a dog, do this great thing?" Elisha said, "the LORD has shown me that you are to be king over Aram."
14 So he left Elisha and returned to his master, who asked him, "What did Elisha tell you?" He replied, "He said to me that you would certainly get better."

2 Samuel 5:11
11 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar wood, and carpenters, and stone masons; and they built a house for David.
1 Kings 5:1-11
1 Now Hiram, king of Tyre, hearing that Solomon had been made king in place of his father, sent his servants to him; for Hiram had ever been a friend to David.
2 Solomon sent this message to Hiram:
3 "Thou knowest of David my father, how he could not build a house unto the name of the LORD his God for war which he had on every side, until the LORD had put them under his foot.
4 But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side: there is neither adversary nor evil event.
5 Behold, I intend to build a house for the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spoke to David my father, saying, 'Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place shall build the house for my name.'
6 Now therefore please order that cedars of Lebanon be cut for me. My servants will work with your servants, and I will pay your servants whatever wages you set, because you know there is no one among us who knows how to cut timer like the Sidonians do."
7 When Hiram heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced greatly, and said, “Blessed is the LORD today, who has given to David a wise son to rule over this great people.”
8 Then Hiram sent Solomon the following message: "I received your message. I am ready to do what you ask. I will provide the cedars and the pine trees.
9 My servants will bring it down from Lebanon to the sea. And I will make floats for them in the sea to go to the place that you tell me. And I will spread them out there; and you shall take them up. And you shall do what I desire, to give food for my house.
10 So Hiram supplied Solomon with all the cedar and pine logs he wanted.
11 Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand cors of wheat for food to his household, and twenty thousand baths of pure oil. Solomon gave this to Hiram year by year.
1 Kings 9:11-14
11 after which King Solomon gave Hiram 20 cities in the land of Galilee, because King Hiram of Tyre had provided Solomon with as much cedar, cypress timber, and gold that he wanted.
12 But when Hiram came from Tyre to see the towns that Solomon had given him, he was not pleased with them.
13 He said: "What sort of towns are these you have given me, my brother?" So they were named the land of Cabul, to this day.
14 And Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold.
2 Chronicles 2:8-16
8 Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon; for I know that your servants know how to cut timber in Lebanon. My servants shall be with your servants,
9 "Prepare large quantities of timber, because this Temple I intend to build will be large and magnificent.
10 Behold, I will give to your servants, the cutters who cut timber, twenty thousand cors of beaten wheat, twenty thousand baths of barley, twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.”
11 Then Huram king of Tyre answered in a letter, and he sent word to Solomon: "Because the LORD loves his people, he has made you king over them."
12 »Praise the LORD the God of Israel, Creator of heaven and earth! He has given King David a wise son, full of understanding and skill. He now plans to build a Temple for the LORD and a palace for himself.
13 Now I'm sending along Hiram-abi, a skilled craftsman, who is very creative.
14 a son of a woman from the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, knowledgeable for working with gold, silver, bronze, iron, stone, and wood, and with purple, blue, and crimson fabric, and with fine linen, for engraving any engraving and devising any plan that is given to him, with your skilled men and the skilled men of my lord David your father.
15 So now let my lord send to his servants the grain and the oil and the wine as my lord has said;
16 and we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as you need. We will bring it to you in rafts by sea to Joppa; then you shall carry it up to Jerusalem.”
Isaiah 23:1-18
1 Wail, O ships of Tarshish! For Tyre is destroyed and left without house or harbor. From the land of Cyprus (Kittim) word has come to them.
2 Be silent, you people of the island and you merchants of Sidon, whom the seafarers have enriched.
3 On the great waters came the grain of the Shihor. The harvest of the Nile River was the revenue of Tyre, and she became the marketplace of the nations.
4 Be ashamed, O Sidon, and you, O fortress of the sea, for the sea has spoken: I have neither been in labor nor given birth. I have neither reared sons nor brought up daughters.
5 When word arrives at Egypt, they will be in anguish at the report from Tyre.
6 Crossover to Tarshish and cry you people of the island.
7 Is this your exultant city founded in antiquity? Is this the city that sent its people to settle in distant lands?
8 Who has planned this against Tyre, the giver of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traders are the honorable of the earth?
9 the LORD Almighty has planned it: to defile the pride of all glory, to humble all the honored ones of the earth.
10 Cross over your own land like the Nile, daughter of Tarshish; there is no longer a harbor.
11 the LORD has stretched his hand over the sea to shake kingdoms. He has commanded that Canaan's fortifications be destroyed.
12 He said: "You will exult no more, O crushed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Cyprus; even there you will find no rest."
13 Look at the land of the Chaldeans. This is the people that were not. Assyria appointed it for desert creatures. They erected their siege towers and they stripped its palaces. They made it a ruin!
14 Wail, ships of Tarshish! For your fortress is destroyed.
15 Now in that day Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years like the lifespan of one king. At the end of seventy years it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute:
16 Take a harp, go about the city, harlot that hast been forgotten: sing well, sing many a song, that thou mayst be remembered.
17 And it will be, after the end of seventy years, the LORD will visit Tyre; and she shall return to her hire, and will fornicate with all the kingdoms of the earth, on the face of the earth.
18 And her goods and her wages shall be holiness to the LORD; it shall not be hoarded nor stored; for her goods shall be for those who dwell before the LORD, to eat enough, and for a choice covering.

22 all the kings of Tyre and Sidon; the kings of the Isles that are beyond the sea;
Jeremiah 47:4
4 for the day is coming to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains. For the LORD is destroying the Philistines, the remnant of the coastlands of Caphtor.
Ezekiel 26:1-21
1 Now in the eleventh year, on the first of the month, the word of the LORD came to me:
2 Son of man, because Tyre hath said of Jerusalem: Aha, the gates of the people are broken, she is turned to me: I shall be filled, now she is laid waste.
3 "Therefore the Sovereign LORD says: 'I am against you, O Tyre, and I will bring up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves.
4 "'They will destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers. I will scrape her debris from her and make her a bare rock.
5 She will be a place for the spreading of nets in the middle of the sea; for I have spoken it,' says the Sovereign LORD. 'She will become plunder for the nations.
6 "'Her daughters on the mainland will be killed by the sword. They will know that I am the LORD.'
7 For thus says the Sovereign LORD: Behold, I will bring on Tyre Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, from the north, with horses, with chariots, with horsemen and a company, and many people.
8 '"He will slay your daughters on the mainland with the sword. He will make siege walls against you, cast up a ramp against you and raise up a large shield against you.
9 "'He will direct the blow of his battering rams against your walls. He will break down your towers with his axes.
10 By reason of the abundance of his horses, their dust will cover you. Your walls will shake at the noise of the horsemen, of the wagons, and of the chariots, when he enters into your gates, as men enter into a city which is broken open.
11 "'The hoofs of his horses will trample all your streets. He will slay your people with the sword and your strong pillars will come down to the ground.
12 "'They will make a spoil of your riches and a prey of your merchandise. They will break down your walls and destroy your pleasant houses. They will throw your stones and your timbers and your debris into the water.'
13 "'So I will silence the sound of your songs, and the sound of your harps will be heard no more.
14 "'I will make you a bare rock. You will be a place for the spreading of nets. You will be built no more, for I the LORD have spoken,' declares the Sovereign LORD.
15 "The Sovereign LORD says to Tyre: 'Will not the coastlands shake at the sound of your fall when the wounded groan, when the slaughter occurs in your midst?
16 '"Then all the princes of the sea will go down from their thrones and remove their robes and strip off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling. They will sit on the ground, tremble every moment and be appalled at you.
17 And they shall take up a lament for you and say to you, How you are perished, who lived by the seas, the city well praised, which was strong in the sea, she and her dwellers, who put their terror on all her dwellers!
18 Now the islands tremble in the day of your ruin; yes, the islands in the sea terrify at your departure.
19 "The Sovereign LORD says: 'When I make you a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited, when I bring up the deep over you and the great waters cover you,
20 then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit (grave), to the people of old, and I will make you dwell in the lower parts of the earth. It will be like the ancient waste places, with those who go down to the pit (grave), so that you will not be inhabited; but I will set glory in the land of the living.
21 "I will bring terrors on you and you will be no more. Though you will be sought, you will never be found again,' declares the Sovereign LORD."
Joel 3:4-8
4 "Yes, and what are you to me, Tyre, and Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Will you repay me? And if you repay me, I will swiftly and speedily return your repayment on your own head.
5 since you took my silver and gold, carried my precious treasures into your temples,
6 and sold the sons of Juda and the sons of Jerusalem to the Greeks, that you might remove them far from their borders;
7 "Behold, I will arouse them out of the place where you sold them and will return your recompense upon your head.
8 I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans and to a nation far away, for the LORD has spoken.
Zechariah 9:2-4
2 And Hamath also, which borders on it; and against Tyre, and Sidon, though they are very wise.
3 Tyre built herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver like the dust, and fine gold like the mire of the streets.
4 Look! The Lord will evict her, striking at her power in the sea, and she will be consumed by fire.
Matthew 11:21
21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had happened in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

40 You will live by your sword, and you will serve your brother. It will happen, when you will break loose, that you will shake his yoke from off your neck.”
41 So Esau bore a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed him. Esau said to himself: "The days of mourning for my father are near. Then I will kill my brother Jacob."
Numbers 20:14-21
14 Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom. He said: "This is what your brother Israel says: 'You know all the hardships we have had.
15 how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we lived in Egypt a long time. The Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers.
16 When we cried to the LORD, he heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the edge of your border.
17 Please let us go through your land. We will not go through a field or vineyard, and we will not drink water from a well. We will go along the road of the king; we will not turn aside right or left until we have gone through your territory.'"
18 Then Edom said to him, "You will not pass through us lest we will go out to meet you with the sword."
19 The Israelites said to him, "We will go up on the main road, and if we and our livestock drink your water, we will pay for it. It is only a small matter; let us pass through on our feet."
20 And he said, You shall not pass through. And Edom came out against him with many people, and with a strong hand.
21 Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his territory; and Israel turned away from him.
Deuteronomy 2:4-8
4 and command this people, "You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives, the descendants of Esau who live around Seir. They will be afraid of you so be very careful.
5 Make no attack on them, for I will not give you any of their land, not even space enough for a man's foot: because I have given Mount Seir to Esau for his heritage.
6 "'You must pay them in silver for the food you eat and the water you drink.
7 For the LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand; He has known your walking through this great wilderness; these forty years the LORD your God has been with you and you have lacked nothing.
8 So we bypassed our relatives, the descendants of Esau who live in Seir. We turned through the Arabah desert from Elath, and from Ezion-geber we traveled the desert road to Moab."
Deuteronomy 23:7
7 You must not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You must not abhor an Egyptian, because you lived as a foreigner in his land.

17 The Edomites had again invaded and defeated Judah and captured prisoners.
Psalms 83:3-8
3 They conspire with cunning against your people. They plot against your cherished ones.
4 “Come,” they say, “let’s destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”
5 Indeed, they shrewdly planned together, forming an alliance against you
6 the tents of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarites;
7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the dwellers of Tyre;"
8 Even Assyria joined them to strengthen the descendants of Lot. [Interlude]

5 Will you be angry with us forever? Will you draw out your anger to all generations?
Psalms 137:7

Ecclesiastes 7:9
9 Do not be quick in your spirit to anger, for anger lodges in the bosom of fools.
Isaiah 21:11-12
Isaiah 34:1-17
1 Come near, you nations, to hear; and hearken, you people: let the earth hear, and all that is in it; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
2 For the LORD is enraged against all the nations, and angry with all their armies. He has utterly destroyed them. He has given them over for slaughter.
3 Their slain also will be cast out. And the stench of their dead bodies will come up and the mountains will be melted with their blood.
4 And all the powers of the heavens shall melt, and the sky shall be rolled up like a scroll; and all the stars shall fall like leaves from a vine, and as leaves fall from a fig tree.
5 For my sword saturates in the heavens: behold, it descends on Edom and on the people of my devotement to judgment.
6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood; it is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams; for the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7 Wild oxen will be killed with them, young bulls along with rams. Their land will be drenched with blood. Their dust will be covered with fat.
8 For the LORD has a day of vengeance, a year of retribution for the strife of Zion.
9 Her streams will be turned into pitch, her dust into sulphur, and her land will become burning pitch;
10 It won’t be quenched night or day. Its smoke will go up forever. From generation to generation, it will lie waste. No one will pass through it forever and ever.
11 but the pelican and the porcupine will possess it, the owl and the raven will dwell in it. He will stretch the line of confusion over it, and the plumb line of emptiness.
12 As for her nobles, none shall be there to be called to the kingdom; and all her princes shall be nothing.
13 Thorns will come up in its palaces, nettles and thistles in its fortresses; and it will be a habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches.
14 And the wildcats will meet with the hyenas, and the wild goat will cry to his fellow. There too, nocturnal animals shall settle, and shall find themselves a place of rest.
15 The snake shall nest there, and shall lay, and hatch, and shall gather in her shadow. Vultures shall also be gathered together, each with its mate.
16 Search in the scroll of the LORD, and read: not one of these will be missing. None will lack her mate. For my mouth has commanded, and his Spirit has gathered them.
17 And he has cast the lot for them, and his hand has divided it unto them by measure: they shall possess it forever, from generation to generation shall they dwell in it.
Isaiah 57:16
16 For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry, for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls that I have made.
Isaiah 63:1-7
1 Who is this, coming from Edom, from Bozrah in bright red garments? Who is this honored in his garment, lying down in his great strength? "It is I, speaking in justice, mighty to save!"
2 Why are your garments red, and your garments like he who treads in the winepress?
3 “I have trodden the wine press alone. Of the peoples, no one was with me. Yes, I trod them in my anger and trampled them in my wrath. Their lifeblood is sprinkled on my garments, and I have stained all my clothing.
4 For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed has come.
5 I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold. Therefore my own arm brought salvation to me. My own wrath upheld me.
6 "In my wrath I trampled on people. In my rage I made them drunk and poured their blood on the ground."
7 The kindnesses of the LORD will I mention, the praises of the LORD, according to all which the LORD requites us, and the vast good to the house of Israel which He requites them, according to His compassions, and according to His many kindnesses."
Jeremiah 49:7-22
7 Concerning Edom. Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Is there no more wisdom in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom spent?
8 Flee, turn around! Go to a remote place to stay, residents of Dedan! For I'll bring Esau's disaster on him at the time when I punish him.
9 If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? If thieves came by night, wouldn't they steal until they had enough?
10 But I'll strip Esau bare. I'll uncover his hiding places so he cannot conceal himself. His offspring, his relatives, and his neighbors will be destroyed, and he will no longer exist.
11 Leave your orphans. I will let them live. And your widows, let them trust in me."
12 This is what the LORD says: "If those who do not deserve to drink from the cup still drink from it, why should you go unpunished? You will not go unpunished. You must drink from it."
13 For I have sworn by Myself, declares the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a ruin, a reproach, a waste, and a curse. And all its cities shall be wastes forever.
14 I heard a message from the LORD. A messenger was sent among the nations to say: "Assemble and attack Edom. Get ready for battle."
15 For lo, I will make you small among the nations, despised among men.
16 Your terror has deceived you, the pride of your heart, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, you who seize the height of the hill. Though you make your nest high like the eagle, from there I will bring you down," declares the LORD.
17 "Edom will become an object of horror. Everyone who passes by her will be horrified and will scoff because of all her wounds.
18 Just like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors," says the LORD, "no one will live there. No human being will reside in it.
19 Look, like a lion he comes up from the thickets of the Jordan to a pastureland by a constantly flowing stream. So I will chase him away hurriedly from it. And whoever is chosen I will appoint over it. For who is like me, and who can summon me? And who is this, the shepherd who can stand before me?"
20 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD that he has taken against Edom; and his thoughts, that he has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out; surely he shall destroy their habitations with them.
21 At the noise of their fall, the earth shall quake, the cry of their voice shall be heard to the reed sea.
22 Look, he will rise up and fly swiftly like an eagle. He will spread his wings against Bozrah, and on that day the hearts of the warriors of Edom will be like the heart of a woman in labor.
Lamentations 4:21-22
21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, you who dwell in the land of Uz; but to you also the cup will pass, you will become drunk and strip yourself bare.
22 O daughter of Sion, thine iniquity is done away. He will no more banish thee. He hath visited thine iniquities, daughter of Edom. He hath exposed thee for thy sins.
Ezekiel 25:12-14
12 So says the Sovereign LORD: Because Edom has acted by taking vengeance against the house of Judah, and they are very guilty and are avenged on them,
13 therefore thus says the Sovereign LORD: "so I will stretch out my hand against Edom and I will cut off from it both human and animal, and I will make it a ruin from Teman and Dedan; they will fall by the sword.
14 'I will lay my vengeance on Edom by the hand of my people Israel. Therefore, they will act in Edom according to my anger and according to my wrath. They will know my vengeance, declares the Sovereign LORD."'
Ezekiel 35:1-15
1 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2 "Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
3 And say to it, So says the Sovereign LORD: Behold, I am against you, Mount Seir, and I will stretch My hand against you, and I will make you a ruin and a waste.
4 I will lay your cities waste, and you will be desolate. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
5 because there has been to you an ancient hostility, and you handed over the Israelites to the power of the sword at the time of their disaster, at the time of their final punishment.
6 "'Therefore as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD: I will give you over to bloodshed (death), and bloodshed (death) will pursue you. Since you have not hated bloodshed, therefore bloodshed will pursue you.
7 And I will make Mount Seir a cause for wonder and a waste, cutting off from it all comings and goings.
8 I will fill its mountains with its slain. The slain with the sword will fall in your hills and in your valleys and in all your watercourses.
9 I will make you a perpetual desolation, and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
10 Because you have said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess them; although the LORD was there:
11 Therefore, as I live," declares the Sovereign LORD, "so I will deal with you according to your anger and according to your jealousy that you did, because of your hatred against them, and I will make myself known among them when I judge you.
12 You will know that I, the LORD, have heard all your insults which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, 'They have been laid desolate. They have been given us to devour.'
13 and you have spoken swelling words against me with your mouth: I have heard [them].
14 Thus says the Sovereign LORD: When the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate.
15 "As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so I will do to you. You will be desolated, O Mount Seir, and all Edom, all of it. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’"
Joel 3:19
19 Egypt will be desolate, and Edom will be a desert, because of violence against the people of Judah since they shed innocent blood in their land.
Obadiah 1:1-14
1 The vision of Obadiah. This is what the Sovereign LORD says about Edom. We have heard news from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, Arise, and let's rise up against her in battle.
2 "Look! I will make you insignificant among the nations; you will be utterly despised.
3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of a rock, the heights of its dwelling, you who say in your heart: 'Who can bring me down to the ground?'
4 Even if you soar like the eagle, even if your nest is set among the stars, from there I will bring you down!" declares the LORD:
5 "If thieves came to you, if robbers by night—oh, what disaster awaits you—wouldn't they only steal until they had enough? If grape pickers came to you, wouldn't they leave some gleaning grapes?
6 How Esau will be ransacked! How his hidden treasures are sought out!
7 All your allies will force you out of the land, your associates will deceive you and prevail against you. Your friends will lay out a trap for you, and you will never understand it!
8 On that day," declares the LORD, "will I not destroy the wise men from Edom, and understanding from the mountain of Esau?
9 And your warriors will be shattered, O Teman, so that everyone from the mountain of Esau will be cut off because of the slaughter!
10 "Because of the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame will cover you and you will be cut off forever.
11 On the day you stood nearby, on the day strangers took his wealth, and foreigners entered his gates and cast lots over Jerusalem, you were also like one of them.
12 But do not look down on your brother in the day of his disaster, and do not rejoice over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction. Do not speak proudly in the day of distress.
13 Do not enter into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity. Do not look down on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither seize their wealth on the day of their calamity.
14 nor stand in the crossway to cut off his escapees; nor shut up his survivors in the day of tribulation.
Micah 7:18
18 Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not keep His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.
Malachi 1:2
2 I have loved you, says the LORD. Yet you say, How have you loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother, says the LORD. Yet I loved Jacob,
Malachi 1:4
4 Even though Edom may claim, 'We were crushed, but we will return and rebuild the ruins,' this is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies says: "They may rebuild, but I'll demolish. People will call them 'The Wicked Land,' and 'The People With Whom the LORD is Forever Angry.'

22 Look, he will rise up and fly swiftly like an eagle. He will spread his wings against Bozrah, and on that day the hearts of the warriors of Edom will be like the heart of a woman in labor.

Deuteronomy 2:19
19 When you come to the Ammonites, don't harass or provoke them to war, for I won't give any part of Ammonite land to you, since I have given it to the descendants of Lot as their property.'
Deuteronomy 23:3-4
Judges 10:7-9
7 In his burning anger against Israel, he sold them into domination by the Philistines and the Ammonites,
8 They troubled and oppressed the Israelites that year. For eighteen years they oppressed all the Israelites that were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
9 The Ammonites crossed the Jordan to fight also against Judah, Benjamin, and the house of Ephraim; and Israel was very distressed.
Judges 11:15-28
15 and said to him, This is what Jephthah says: Israel didn't take away the land of Moab, nor the land of the Ammonites,
16 But when they came up out of Egypt, he walked through the desert to the Red Sea, and came into Cades.
17 then Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, ‘Please let me pass through your land;’ but the king of Edom didn’t listen. In the same way, he sent to the king of Moab, but he refused; so Israel stayed in Kadesh.
18 Then they traveled through the wilderness, went around the land of Edom and Moab, and came to the east side of the land of Moab, and they encamped beyond the Arnon; and they did not go into the territory of Moab because the Arnon was the border of Moab.
19 And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorite, king of Hesbron, and Israel said to him, Let us pass through your land to our place.
20 But Sihon didn't trust Israel to pass through his territory, so he assembled his entire army, encamped in Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
21 And the LORD, the God of Israel delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they struck them. So Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, who lived in that country.
22 And all the coasts thereof from the Arnon to the Jaboc, and from the wilderness to the Jordan.
23 So now the LORD, the God of Israel has driven out the Amorites from before His people Israel, and should you take it over?
24 Do you not possess what Chemosh your god gave you to possess? Whoever the LORD our God has driven out before us, we will possess it.
25 "'Do you think you are better than Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab? Did he ever challenge Israel or fight with them?
26 "'Israel has occupied Heshbon and Aroer for three hundred years, and the towns around them, and all the cities on the banks of the Arnon River. Why did you not retake them during that time?
27 "'I have not done you any wrong. You are doing wrong to me by making war on me. the LORD is the judge. He will decide today between the Israelites and the Ammonites.'"
28 The king of Ammon paid no attention to this message from Jephthah.
1 Samuel 11:1-2
1 Now Nahash the Ammonite went up and encamped against Jabesh Gilead. All the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Make a treaty with us and we will serve you."
2 Nahash the Ammonite said to them, "I'll make a covenant with you on the condition that I gouge out the right eye of every one of you and so bring disgrace on all Israel."
2 Samuel 10:1-8
1 Sometime later, the Ammonite king died and his son Hanun succeeded him as king,
2 And David said, I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me. So David sent by his servants to comfort him concerning his father. And David's servants came into the land of the sons of Ammon.
3 the Ammonite princes asked their master Hanun: "Do you think David is honoring your father because he sent men to comfort you? Perhaps David sent his men to explore the city, spy on it, and destroy it."
4 And Hanun took David's servants and shaved off half their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, to their buttocks, and sent them away.
5 When they told David this, he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly ashamed. The king said, “Wait at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”
6 When the Ammonites realized that they had created quite a stink with David, they hired 20,000 Aramean mercenaries from Beth-rehob and Zobah, along with the king of Maacah and 1,000 men, and 12,000 men from Tob.
7 And hearing of this, David sent Joab and all the army and the best fighting-men.
8 The Ammonites came out and drew up a battle formation at the entrance of the gate, but Aram-Zobah and Rehob and the men of Tob and Maacah were alone in the open field.

Nehemiah 2:19
19 But Sanballat the Horonite, the Ammonite servant Tobiah, and Geshem the Arab heard it, and they mocked and despised us, saying, "What is this thing that you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?"
Nehemiah 4:7-23
7 Now when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the restoration of the walls of Jerusalem were going forward and the gaps were being closed, they were very angry.
8 So all of them plotted together to come fight against Jerusalem and to make trouble for it.
9 But we prayed to our God. We also set up guards day and night because of them.
10 Meanwhile, the people of Judah said, "The builders are tired and there's so much rubble that we can't reconstruct the wall!"
11 Our enemies said, "Before they notice or see us, we'll penetrate their midst, kill them, and stop the work!"
12 When the Jews who lived by them came, they said to us ten times from all places, “Wherever you turn, they will attack us.”
13 I stationed the people behind the deepest part of the wall in the open places according to their families, with their swords, spears, and bows.
14 And I looked, got up, and said to the nobles, prefects, and the rest of the people, "Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses."
15 It happened when our enemies heard that their plan was known to us, that God had frustrated it, and we all returned to the wall—each to his work.
16 From that day on, half of my helpers engaged in the work while the other half kept spears, shields, bows, and armor ready. The senior officials backed all of the Judeans
17 who worked on the wall. Those who carried building materials worked with one hand, carrying a spear in the other.
18 Each of the builders had his sword tied to his side while building. And the man who sounded the trumpet was beside me.
19 I said to the leaders and the rest of the people: "The work is extensive and widely spaced and we are far away from one another on the wall.
20 Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally there to us. Our God will fight for us."
21 So we labored in the work. And half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning until the stars came out.
22 At the time I also said to the people, "Let each man and his servant spend the night inside Jerusalem, so that they will be a guard for us in the night and work in the day."
23 So neither I nor my brothers nor my young men nor the men of the guard who were behind me took off our clothes. Each one kept his weapon even in the water.

3 "Wail, Heshbon, because Ai is destroyed. Cry out, daughters of Rabbah, put on sackcloth and lament. Run back and forth inside the walls, for Milcom is going into exile along with his priests and his princes.
4 Why do you boast in your valleys? Your valleys are ebbing. O unfaithful daughter, who trusted in her treasures, who said, 'Who will come against me?'

6 Yet afterward I will restore the fortunes of the Ammonites," declares the LORD.

4 »‘»I am going to give you to the sons of the east for a possession. They will set their encampments among you and make their dwellings among you. They will eat your fruit and drink your milk.
5 "'"I will make Rabbah a pasture for camels and the Ammonites a resting place for flocks. So you will know that I am the LORD."'"
6 For thus says the Sovereign LORD: Because you have clapped your hands and stamped with the feet and rejoiced with all the spite of your soul against the land of Israel,
7 therefore look! I stretched out my hand against you, and I will give you as plunder to the nations, and I will cut you off from the peoples, and I will destroy you from the countries, and I will wipe you out, and you will know that I am the LORD."
