¹ And Solomon the son of David made himself strong over his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and made him exceedingly great. ² And Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to all the leaders for all Israel, the heads of the families. ³ So Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for God's Tent of Meeting was there, which the LORD's servant Moses had made in the wilderness. ⁴ But David had brought the ark of God up from Kiriath Jearim to the place that David had prepared for it; for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem. ⁵ And the bronze altar that Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made was there before the tabernacle of the LORD. And Solomon and the assembly sought it out. ⁶ Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the LORD, which was at the Tent of Meeting, and offered one thousand burnt offerings on it. ⁷ That night, God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for what you want me to give you.” ⁸ Solomon said to God, "You have shown great loving kindness to David my father, and have made me king in his place. ⁹ Now, LORD God, your promise to my father David is fulfilled, because you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth. ¹⁰ Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of yours?” ¹¹ Then God said to Solomon, "Because this was with your heart and you did not ask for wealth, possessions, honor, and the lives of your enemies, and also did not ask for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge that you might judge my people over whom I have made you king, ¹² Wisdom and knowledge are given to you; and I will give you wealth and honour, such as no king has had before you or ever will have after you. ¹³ Then Solomon came to Jerusalem, from the high place at Gabaon, which is before the tabernacle of the testimony; and reigned over Israel. ¹⁴ And Solomon collected chariots, and horsemen, and he had fourteen hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. Those he left in the chariot cities; but the people were with the king in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones, and made cedar trees as plentiful as sycamore trees that grow in the Shephelah. ¹⁶ And Solomon's horses were imported from Egypt and from Kue. The traders of the king received them from Kue at a price. ¹⁷ A war-carriage might be got from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty: they got them at the same rate for all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Aram.

²² At that time, Abimelech and Phicol the captain of his army spoke to Abraham, saying, “God is with you in all that you do.

² And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man. And he was in the house of the Egyptian, his master.

²¹ But the LORD was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

¹² God said: "I will be with you! This shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain."

¹² And Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his kingdom was firmly established.

⁴⁶ Then the king commanded Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and fell upon him, and he died. So the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.

⁸ "'I have been with you wherever you have gone. I have destroyed all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name like the names of the greatest men of the earth.

²⁵ The LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

²⁰ and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

⁹ Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the name above all names, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, ¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹ David conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.

³ David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD to its place, which he had prepared for it.

¹² He said to them: "You are the heads of the Levite families. You and your brothers must perform the ceremonies to make yourselves holy. Then bring the Ark of the LORD the God of Israel to the place I prepared for it.

⁴ More leaders were located among Eleazar's descendants than among those of Ithamar, so sixteen leaders were appointed from the leaders of the ancestral households of Eleazar's descendants and eight from those of Ithamar.

³¹ They drew lots as their relatives, Aaron's descendants, had done. They drew them in front of King David, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the leaders of the families of the priests and Levites. The families of the oldest brother were treated the same way as those of the youngest.

¹ And as for the number of the Israelites, the heads of families, the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and their officials who serve the king in all matters of the working groups that came and went, month by month, throughout all the months of the year, each working group: twenty-four thousand.

¹ David held a meeting in Jerusalem for all the leaders of Israel, the leaders of the tribes, the leaders of the army units that served the king, the commanders of regiments and battalions, the officials in charge of all the property and livestock belonging to the king and his sons, the palace officials, the soldiers, and the fighting men.

¹ And David the king said to all the congregation, My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is young and tender. And the work is great, for the magnificent house is not for man, but for the LORD God.

²⁰ Early the next morning, King Hezekiah got up and assembled the city officials and went up to the LORD's temple,

² The king, his officials, and the whole assembly in Jerusalem decided to celebrate the Passover in the second month.

²⁹ Then the king sent and convened all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. ³⁰ And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the people of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people from the great to the small. And he read in their ears all the words of the Book of the Covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.

¹ "Construct the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twisted linen and blue and purple and scarlet material. Make them with cherubim, the work of a skillful workman. ² Every curtain is to be twenty-eight cubits long and four cubits wide, all of the same measure. ³ And five curtains shall be joined, each to its sister-piece. ⁴ And you will make loops of blue on the edge of the one curtain, at the end in the set; and you will do so on the edge of the end curtain in the second set. ⁵ Fifty twists on one curtain and fifty on the other, the twists to be opposite one another. ⁶ »Make fifty gold fasteners. Use them to link the two sets of curtains together so that the tent is a single unit. ⁷ And work curtains of goats for a tent on the tabernacle; work eleven curtains: ⁸ "Each of the eleven curtains will be forty-five feet long and six feet wide. ⁹ »Sew five of the curtains together into one set. Sew the remaining six into another set. Fold the sixth curtains in half to hang in front of the tent. ¹⁰ You shall make 50 loops along the edge of the outermost curtain in the first set, and 50 loops along the edge of the curtain of the other set. ¹¹ Then make fifty brass hooks and put the hooks into the twists, joining the tent together to make it one. ¹² As for the excess that remains of the curtains of the tent the half curtain that remains shall hang over the back of the tabernacle. ¹³ The nine inches that remain on either end of the length of the curtains of the tent shall hang over each side of the tabernacle to cover it. ¹⁴ And thou shalt make a covering for the tent of rams skins dyed red, and a covering of sealskins above. ¹⁵ "You shall make upright boards of acacia wood for the tabernacle. ¹⁶ Every board is to be ten cubits high and a cubit and a half wide. ¹⁷ »It should have two identical pegs. Make all the frames for the inner tent the same way. ¹⁸ "Make twenty frames for the south side of the inner tent. ¹⁹ And forty silver bases thou shalt make under the twenty boards: two bases for the one board for its two hands. ²⁰ For the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, twenty boards, ²¹ With their forty silver bases, two under every board. ²² "Prepare six frames for the far end, the west side. ²³ And you will make two frames for the tabernacle corners at the rear. ²⁴ The two are to be joined together at the base and at the top to one ring, forming the two angles. ²⁵ »There will be eight frames with sixteen silver sockets, two at the bottom of each frame. ²⁶ "You shall make bars of acacia wood, five for the boards on one side of the tabernacle, ²⁷ "Also prepare five for those on the other side, and five for the frames on the far end of the inner tent, the west side. ²⁸ "The middle crossbar will run from one end to the other. It should be halfway up the frames. ²⁹ "Cover the frames with gold. Make gold rings to hold the crossbars. Cover the crossbars with gold. ³⁰ And you shall set up the tabernacle according to the pattern shown to you on the mount. ³¹ “You shall make a veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cherubim. It shall be the work of a skillful workman. ³² Hanging it by gold hooks from four pillars of wood, plated with gold and fixed in silver bases. ³³ You shall hang the curtain from the clasps and bring the Ark of the Testimony there inside the curtain. The curtain shall separate for you the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place. ³⁴ And you will put the atonement cover on the ark of the testimony in the most holy place. ³⁵ You shall put the table outside the curtain. You shall put the table on the north side with the lamp stand opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle. ³⁶ For the doorway of the tent you shall make a screen of blue, purple, and scarlet material, and fine woven linen, the work of an embroiderer. ³⁷ And make five pillars for the curtain, of hard wood plated with gold; their hooks are to be of gold and their bases of brass

⁸ And all who were skilled of heart among the doers of the work made the tabernacle with ten curtains of finely twisted linen and blue and purple and crimson yarns, with cherubim; he made them, the work of a skilled craftsman.

² "Set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting on the first day of the first month of the year.

³⁴ Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

¹ the LORD called to Moses, and spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting, saying,

⁵ So Moses, the servant of the LORD, died there in the land of Moab, just as the LORD had said.

⁴ The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. ⁵ The LORD appeared to Solomon one night in a dream and told him, "Ask me for whatever you want and I'll give it to you." ⁶ And Solomon said, You have shown great kindness to Your servant, my father David, as he walked before You in truth and in righteousness and in uprightness of heart with You. And You have kept for him this great kindness, and have given to him a son sitting on his throne, as today. ⁷ Now, LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am but a little child. I do not know how to go out or come in. ⁸ Your servant is among your people which you have chosen, a great people, that can't be numbered or counted for multitude. ⁹ So give your servant an understanding mind to govern your people, so I can discern between good and evil. Otherwise, how shall I be able to govern this great people of yours?" ¹⁰ The LORD was pleased that Solomon had asked for this, ¹¹ And God said to him, Because your request is for this thing, and not for long life for yourself or for wealth or for the destruction of your haters, but for wisdom to be a judge of causes; ¹² "I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had. There has never been nor will ever be anyone like you. ¹³ And I have also given you what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you all your days. ¹⁴ And if you go on in my ways, keeping my laws and my orders as your father David did, I will give you a long life. ¹⁵ Solomon awoke; and behold, it was a dream. Then he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the LORD's covenant, and offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants.

³⁹ And he left Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place at Gibeon,

²⁹ Now the tabernacle of the LORD that Moses had made in the desert and the altar of burnt offering were at that time at the high place of Gibeon.

² Then David and all the people with him set out from Baale-judah to bring up from there the ark of God, who is called the Name, the name of the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, and who is enthroned on the cherubim.

¹⁷ They brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in its place, in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.

⁵ David assembled all the Israelites, from the Shihor River in Egypt to Lebo to the entrance to Hamath, to bring the Ark of God from Kiriath Jearim. ⁶ David and all the people of Israel with him went to Baalah of Judah (Kiriath Jearim). They went to bring the Ark of the LORD God from there. He is enthroned between the cherubim on the Ark that is called by his name.

¹ And David made houses for himself in the City of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched a tent for it.

²⁵ So David and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-edom with joy. ²⁶ As God helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams. ²⁷ Now David was clothed with a robe of fine linen; so also all the Levites who were carrying the ark, the singers, and Kenaniah the chief of the singing. And David wore a linen ephod. ²⁸ And all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of a horn, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, playing loudly on lutes and harps.

¹ And they brought the ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it. And they offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before God.

⁵ until I find out a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob." ⁶ We heard about it in Ephrata; we found it in the fields of Jaar.

¹ And make an altar of hard wood, a square altar, five cubits long, five cubits wide and three cubits high. ² "Place a horn at each of its four corners. The four horns and the altar must be made out of one piece of wood covered with copper. ³ "Make all the utensils for it out of copper: pots for taking away the altar’s ashes, also shovels, bowls, forks, and incense burners. ⁴ "Make a grate for it out of copper mesh. Make a copper ring for each of the four corners of the grate. ⁵ "Place the grate under the ledge of the altar so that it comes halfway up the altar. ⁶ "Prepare poles out of acacia wood for the altar. Cover them with copper. ⁷ The poles for it shall be put through the rings, so the poles will be on the two sides of the altar when it's carried. ⁸ "Make the altar out of boards so that it is hollow inside. It must be made just as you were shown on the mountain.

² See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah

¹ He made the altar for burnt offerings out of acacia wood seven and one half feet square and four and one half feet high. ² And he made the horns thereof on the four corners of it; the horns thereof were of the same: and he overlaid it with brass. ³ And he made all the vessels of the altar: the cauldrons, shovels, basins, fleshhooks and coalpans all of brass. ⁴ And he made for the altar a bronze grate of network under its rim extending halfway down it. ⁵ And he cast four rings on the four ends of the copper grate as housings for the poles. ⁶ He made the poles of acacia wood, and overlaid them with bronze. ⁷ And he put the poles through rings on the sides of the altar to carry it. He made it hollow, out of boards.

¹⁹ When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, who bore him Hur. ²⁰ Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri the father of Bezalel.

³ "Let us bring the Ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul."

⁴ The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.

⁶³ Solomon sacrificed the fellowship offerings which he offered to the LORD: twenty-two thousand oxen and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep; and the king and all of the Israelites dedicated the house of the LORD.

²¹ And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the next day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel:

¹⁶ Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires, nor its animals enough for burnt offerings.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding. ⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

⁷ Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. ⁸ For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

³⁶ "What do you want me to do for you?" he asked. ³⁷ They answered, “Grant that one of us may sit at Your right hand and the other at Your left in Your glory.”

⁵¹ “What do you want Me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “Rabboni,” said the blind man, “I want to see again.”

²³ In that day you will no longer ask Me anything. Truly, truly, I tell you, whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.

¹⁴ This is the confidence that we have toward him: that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. ¹⁵ And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

⁸ "Say this to my servant David: 'This is what the LORD Almighty says: I took you from the pasture where you followed sheep so that you could be the leader of my people Israel. ⁹ I have been with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a great name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.

⁷ Nathan said to David, "You are the man. This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul. ⁸ I gave you your master's house, and your master's wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that would have been too little, I would have added to you many more such things.

⁵¹ He gives great deliverance to his king, and shows loving kindness to his anointed, to David and to his descendants, until forever."

⁵ And of all my sons, for the LORD has given me many sons, He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the LORD, over Israel.

²³ So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in the place of his father David. He prospered, and all of Israel obeyed him.

¹³ For great is your mercy toward me: and you have delivered my soul from the depths of sheol.

²⁰ I have found David my servant. With my holy oil I have anointed him, ²¹ For My hand shall support him; and My arm shall strengthen him. ²² No enemy will tax him, no wicked man will oppress him. ²³ I will crush his enemies before him and strike those who hate him. ²⁴ My faithfulness and gracious love will be with him, and in my name his power will be exalted. ²⁵ I will place his hand over the sea, and his right hand over the rivers. ²⁶ He will call out to me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.' ²⁷ I will also appoint him my firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. ²⁸ I will keep my mercy for him for ever; my agreement with him will not be changed.

⁴⁹ Where is your gracious love of old, Lord, that in your faithfulness you promised to David?

³ Give ear and come to me; listen to me, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.

¹⁶ "I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth. If anyone could count the dust, your offspring could be counted.

¹⁷ '"I will certainly bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of their enemies' cities.

¹⁰ Who can count the dust of Jacob, or number the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!

¹² When your days are full and you lie down with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring after you who will go out from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. ¹³ It is he who shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever. ¹⁴ "'I will be his father. He will be my son. When he does wrong I will correct him just as parents correct children. ¹⁵ But my mercy I will not take away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before my face. ¹⁶ Your house and your kingdom shall endure forever before you; your throne shall be established forever." '"

²⁵ And now, O Lord God, raise up for ever the word that thou hast spoken, concerning thy servant and concerning his house: and do as thou hast spoken, ²⁶ Your name shall be great forever, and they will say, 'the LORD Almighty is God over Israel'; and the house of your servant David shall be established before you. ²⁷ For You, O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, have revealed to Your servant, saying, I will build you a house. Therefore Your servant has found in his heart to pray this prayer to You. ²⁸ Now, O Sovereign LORD, You are God, and Your words are truth, and You have promised this good thing to Your servant. ²⁹ Now therefore let it please you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue everlasting before you, for you, O Sovereign LORD, have spoken it. And with your blessing let the house of your servant be blessed forever.

⁷ Now, LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am but a little child. I do not know how to go out or come in. ⁸ Your servant is among your people which you have chosen, a great people, that can't be numbered or counted for multitude.

¹¹ "'When your days are over and you go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you. It will be one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. ¹² "'He is the one who will build a house for me. I will establish his throne forever. ¹³ "'I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor. ¹⁴ "'I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever! His throne will be established forever.'"

²³ "Now, the LORD, let the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house be established from generation to generation. Do as you promised! ²⁴ "It will be established and your name will be great forever. Then men will say: "the LORD Almighty, the God over Israel, is Israel's God! And the house of your servant David will be established before you. ²⁵ "You, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. So your servant has found courage to pray to you. ²⁶ "O LORD, YOU ARE GOD! You have promised these good things to your servant. ²⁷ Now it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, LORD, have blessed, and it is blessed forever."

⁶ He said to me, 'Solomon, your son, shall build my house and my courts; for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father. ⁷ I will establish his kingdom forever, if he continues to do My commandments and My ordinances as he does at this time'.

³⁵ Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; that I will not be false to David. ³⁶ His offspring will endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me. ³⁷ It will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky." Selah.

¹¹ The LORD made an oath to David from which he will not retreat: "One of your sons I will set in place on your throne. ¹² If your sons keep my covenant and my statutes that I will teach them, then their sons will also sit on your throne forever."

¹⁷ And may go out and in before them, and may lead them out, or bring them in: lest the people of the Lord be as sheep without a shepherd.

² I am one hundred and twenty years old this day. I can no more go out and come in, and the LORD has said to me, 'You shall not go over this Jordan'.

² In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led Israel out and in. the LORD said to you, 'You will be shepherd of my people Israel, and you will be prince over Israel.'”

⁹ So give your servant an understanding mind to govern your people, so I can discern between good and evil. Otherwise, how shall I be able to govern this great people of yours?"

³⁴ Make me understand, and I will preserve Your law And keep it with all my heart."

⁷³ ( ι - [Yod.]) Your hands made and formed me; give me understanding, that I may learn your commands.

² so as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; ³ if, indeed, you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, ⁴ If you seek it as for silver And search for it as for buried treasures, ⁵ then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

¹³ Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding. ¹⁴ For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold. ¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire compares with her. ¹⁶ Long life is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor. ¹⁷ Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peaceful. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her, and those who hold on to her are blessed

⁷ Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.

¹⁶ To the one we are the aroma of death to death; and to the other the aroma of life to life. And who is equal to such a calling?

⁵ Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim that anything comes from us, but our competence comes from God.

⁵ If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

⁷ But the LORD said to Samuel, Don't look at his appearance or height, because I have rejected him. I do not look at the things man looks at; man looks at the outward appearance but the LORD looks at the heart.

¹¹ And God said to him, Because your request is for this thing, and not for long life for yourself or for wealth or for the destruction of your haters, but for wisdom to be a judge of causes; ¹² "I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had. There has never been nor will ever be anyone like you. ¹³ And I have also given you what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you all your days.

²⁸ And when all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had given, they feared the king; for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to exercise justice.

¹⁸ And the LORD said to my father David, Because it was in your heart to build a house to My name, you did well that it was in your heart.

² And King David rose to his feet and said, "Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I myself wanted to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the footstool of our God, and I prepared to build.

¹⁷ And I know, my God, that You try the heart and are pleased with uprightness; I, in the uprightness of my heart, have offered willingly all these things; and now I have watched with joy Your people who are present here offering willingly to You. ¹⁸ "the LORD, God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, keep such devotion always strong in your people’s hearts and keep them always faithful to you.

⁸ The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

⁷ for as he thinks about the cost, so he is. "Eat and drink." he says to you, but his heart is not with you.

⁴ Did it not belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? How could you conceive such a deed in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God!”

¹² For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good conduct, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.

¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere.

²² King Solomon was greater in wealth and wisdom than all the other kings of the world.

⁹ And I became great and increased more than all who were before me in Jerusalem; also my wisdom stayed with me.

³³ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you as well.

²⁰ Now to Him who is able to do infinitely more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us,

²⁴ For he had dominion on this side of the river, and he was at peace on all sides round about. ²⁵ As long as he lived, the people throughout Judah and Israel lived in safety. Each family had its own grapevines and fig trees.

³ So Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for God's Tent of Meeting was there, which the LORD's servant Moses had made in the wilderness.

¹⁶ Only he must not amass horses for himself or cause the people to return to Egypt to obtain more horses. For the LORD said you must never return that way again.

²⁶ Solomon had forty thousand stalls for his chariot horses and twelve thousand cavalry horses.

¹⁹ and all the store cities that Solomon had, and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen and all that his lust was to build in Jerusalem and Lebanon and in all the land of his kingdom.

¹⁶ King Solomon made two hundred shields of hammered gold; six hundred measures of gold went up over each shield.

²⁶ Solomon gathered chariots and horses; he had fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand horses. He stationed them in the cities of the chariots and with the king in Jerusalem. ²⁷ The king made silver as common as stones in Jerusalem, and made cedar trees as abundant as sycamore trees in the Shephelah. ²⁸ And Solomon's horses came out of Egypt from Kue: the merchants fetched them from Kue at a price. ²⁹ A war-carriage might be got from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; they got them at the same rate for all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Aram.

²⁵ And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem

¹² Wisdom and knowledge are given to you; and I will give you wealth and honour, such as no king has had before you or ever will have after you.

²⁷ The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones. He made cedars as plentiful as fig trees in the foothills.

²⁴ And put your gold in the dust, even your gold of Ophir among the rocks of the valleys; ²⁵ Yea, the Almighty shall be your gold and silver, a tower to you,

¹⁰ "The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with cut stones. The fig trees have been cut down, but we will replace them with cedars."

¹⁷ For bronze I will bring gold; for iron I will bring silver; for wood, bronze, and for stones, iron. I will also make peace your governor, and righteousness your ruler.

¹⁴ Then Amos answered Amaziah, "I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdsman, and a farmer of sycamore figs;

²⁸ Horses were imported for Solomon from Egypt and from all other countries.

²⁹ Only, Jehu did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, going after them, the golden calves in Bethel and in Dan.
