1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope, 2 To Timothy, my true son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines, 4 nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than the divine trainingwhich is by faith. 5 Now the goal of that command is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith; 6 Some have strayed from these ways and turned aside to empty talk. 7 They want to be teachers of the Law, but they do not understand what they are saying or that which they so confidently assert. 8 Now we know that the law is good if one uses it correctly, 9 We realize that law is not enacted for the righteous, but for the lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and profane, for killers of father or mother, for murderers, 10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that agrees with the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. 12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, because he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. 13 Even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor, I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; 14 the grace of our Lord overflowed, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15 It is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinnersof whom I am the foremost. 16 But for this very reason I was shown mercy, so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His perfect patience, as an example to those who would believe in Him for eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. 18 Timothy, my child, I am instructing you in keeping with the prophecies made earlier about you, so that by following them you may continue to fight the good fight 19 Holding on to faith and a good conscience; which some have rejected and so shipwrecked their faith: 20 Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.

They answered him, "No, we haven't even heard that there is a Holy Spirit." 3 "Then," said he, "what were you baptized in?" "In John's baptism," they replied. 4 Paul explained: “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the One coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus; 6 And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all. 8 Then Paul went into the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God. 9 But when some of them stubbornly refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way, Paul took his disciples and left the synagogue to conduct daily discussions in the lecture hall of Tyrannus. 10 This continued for two years so that all the Jews and Greeks [ i.e., Gentiles] who lived in [the province of] Asia heard the message of the Lord.

12 in order to fit his people for the work of service, for building the body of Christ, 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as we mature to the full measure of the stature of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed about by the waves and carried around by every wind of teaching and by the clever cunning of men in their deceitful scheming. 15 rather, speaking the truth in love, let us in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, Christ; 16 From Him the whole body is fitted and held together by every supporting ligament. There is no commandment greater than these." 32 “Right, Teacher,” the scribe replied. “You have stated correctly that God is One and there is no other but Him, 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices." 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him: You are not far from the kingdom of God. Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred? 18 And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’ 19 You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? 20 Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21 And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the One who dwells in it. 22 And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the One who sits on it. 23 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cumin, but you have disregarded the weightier matters of the Law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

Psalms 119:96-105

96 Of all perfection I saw a limit; thy command is very broad. 97 O How I love your law! It is my meditation all day long. 98 Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, because they are ever with me. 99 I have more insight than all my teachers, for your laws are my meditation. 100 I have more common sense than the elders, for I observe your precepts. 101 I have kept my feet from every evil way, so that I might keep Your Word. 102 I have not departed from your judgments: for you have taught me. 103 How sweet are your words to my taste! 9 So then, I too was convinced that I ought to do all I could to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth. 10 And that is what I did in Jerusalem. With authority from the chief priests I put many of the saints in prison, and when they were condemned to death, I cast my vote against them. 11 I frequently had them punished in the synagogues and tried to make them blaspheme. In my raging fury against them, I even went to foreign cities to persecute them.

20 The Law was given so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness, to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

In the end it will be burned.

Hebrews 10:26-29

26 If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins remains, 27 but only a terrifying prospect of judgment and a raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the Law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

11 On the contrary, we believe it is through the grace of the Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

Romans 5:15-20

15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many! 16 Again, the gift is not like the result of the one man’s sin: The judgment that followed one sin brought condemnation, but the gift that followed many trespasses brought justification. 17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive an abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! 18 The result of one trespass was condemnation for all men. The result of righteousness was justification (acquittal), which brings life for all men. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. 20 The Law was given so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more,

19 And indeed, there must be differences among you to show which of you are approved.

Galatians 1:6-8

6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you to the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel. 7 which is not even a gospel. Evidently some people are troubling you and trying to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a divine curse!

Galatians 5:4

4 You who are trying to be justified by the Law have been severed from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

Philippians 3:18-19

18 For as I have often told you before, and now declare even with tears: Many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their belly, and their glory is in their shame. Their minds are set on worldly things.

1 Timothy 1:5

5 Now the goal of that command is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith;

1 Timothy 4:1-2

1 Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will abandon the faith to follow deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, 2 through the pretensions of liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron,

1 Timothy 6:9

9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.

1 Timothy 6:21

21 which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you.

2 Timothy 3:1-6

1 Mark this, there are hard times coming in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 Treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God; 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And turn away from these. 6 They are the kind of people who enter homes and influence [morally] weak-willed women, loaded down with sins, [and] led on by all kinds of evil desires.

Hebrews 3:14

14 We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly to the end the assurance we had at first.

Hebrews 6:4-6

4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age— 6 and then have fallen away—to be restored again to repentance, because they themselves are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to open shame.

1 Peter 3:15-16

15 But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to articulate a defense to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But respond with gentleness and respect, 16 and keep a clear conscience, so that, when you are abused, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

2 Peter 2:1-3

1 Now there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies that even deny the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their immoral ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned. 3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words; from long ago their condemnation has not been idle, and their destruction has not been asleep.

2 Peter 2:12-22

12 But these, speaking evil of the things that they do not understand (as natural animals without reason, who are made to be taken and destroyed), shall utterly perish in their own corruption, 13 The harm they will suffer is the wages of their wickedness. They consider it a pleasure to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their deception as they feast with you. 14 They have eyes full of adultery, that never cease from sin; they entice unstable souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children! 15 They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bosor, who loved the wages of wickedness. 16 but he was rebuked for his own transgression by a donkeya beast without speechwho spoke with a man's voice and restrained the prophet's madness. 17 These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. 18 With lofty but empty words, they appeal to the sensual passions of the flesh and entice the ones who are just escaping from those who live in error. 19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves to corruption. For a man is a slave to whatever has overcome him. 20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled by them, and overcome, they are worse off in the end than at the beginning.

1 John 2:19

19 They went out from us, but they did not belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But their departure made it clear that none of them belonged to us.

Jude 1:10-13

10 But these speak abusively against whatever they do not understand, while whatever they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals—by these things they are ruined. 11 Woe to them! They have traveled the path of Cain; they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam; they have perished in Korah’s rebellion. 12 These are breakers at your love-feasts, feasting with you without fear, feeding themselves, clouds without water driven about by winds, autumnal trees without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots, 13 They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.

Revelation 3:3

3 Remember therefore what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. But if you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you.

2 Corinthians 13:10

10 This is why I write these things while absent, so that when I am present I will not need to be severe in my use of the authority that the Lord gave me for building you up, not for tearing you down.

15 Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.
