⁶ Why then do ye harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When he had dealt thus among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed?

¹³ And Pharaoh's heart was hard, and he did not listen to them, as the LORD had said.

³¹ And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up! Get away from my people, both you and the sons of Israel! And go serve the LORD, as you have said. ³² Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and go. And bless me also. ³³ The Egyptians begged the people to leave the country quickly. They said: "We will all be dead soon!"

¹⁷ "I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. I will be honored through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen.

²³ The Egyptians pursued them. Pharaoh's horses, chariots, and cavalry followed them into the sea.

¹⁴ The nations heard, and were afraid. Pangs came upon the Philistines. ¹⁵ Then the chiefs of Edom were terrified; the leaders of Moab were seized by trembling; all the dwellers of Canaan were melted. ¹⁶ Terror and dread falls on them. By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone, until your people pass over, the LORD, until the people you have purchased pass over.

⁴ He is wise in heart and mighty in strength; who has resisted him and succeeded?

⁸ Do not harden your heart as at Meribah, As on the day of Massah, in the desert;

⁵ But because of your hard and unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.

¹³ But exhort one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
